0:03 welcome everyone Adam the whoo here
0:03 today's adventure takes us to the
0:06 backroads of Central Florida and it just
0:09 kind of away from crowds congregations
0:13 of people but not farm animals cows
0:22 we're letting you to join me
0:25 shall you my goal is to do an update on
0:29 the desert in an e hot Junction so
0:32 heading that direction
0:34 it's about 4550 miles give or take see
0:41 what we can find along the way there and
0:43 back
0:54 there's a solar power facility past that
0:54 fence line a lot of grids there
1:14 not allowed to cross that fence line
1:14 however high-voltage the signage states
1:36 this is way out here hiding out over
1:36 there just hanging around
2:06 all right
2:06 see ya
2:52 one could really do some thinking out
2:52 here
3:19 here's a unique plant the bloom on top
3:19 is a an insect a fly if some sort just
3:22 landed on top of it
3:44 I want to keep my distance just a little
3:44 bit don't want to get too close to the
3:48 nest but look up top there maybe we'll
4:01 get a peek yep there are you up there
4:11 I heard you being shy okay I'll leave
4:29 you be there she is
4:57 I'll be checking on our young making
4:57 sure they're safe
5:08 okay bye obviously out of season these
5:08 bushes or trees that are planted here
5:12 rows of them they're all dried up now
5:15 that it's springtime
5:18 to be honest I don't even know what
5:20 season they would be right so empty
5:26 trailers over there and someone has
5:28 erected a cross as well
5:42 the oldest-known public school building
5:42 in Osceola County here in Kenansville
5:57 and transferred to this property is the
5:57 old post office right over there
6:27 the Heartbreak Hotel which I've heard is
6:27 used as office space now no correlation
6:30 to Elvis Presley it was rumored that for
6:33 a long time but just a clever name it
6:35 looks as if the front doors have been
6:39 boarded up for one reason or another and
6:44 this classic old building the first
6:46 state bank it's been sitting here for a
6:49 heck of a long time curtains have been
6:52 pulled back and we could see in the
6:54 windows this is the first time I've ever
6:56 been able to peek inside this old-timey
7:00 phone on the wall
7:01 a tiny safe that states Railway Express
7:04 agency over there in the corner date
7:08 stamp they are on the walkway in on the
7:10 tile 1914 I really hope this opens one
7:15 day has a museum of some sort
7:18 Kenansville is a very teeny tiny
7:20 community quaint on a side note this
7:29 area is not very mountainy
7:33 not a hill in sight
7:44 it's also interesting to note that way
7:44 back in the day running parallel to this
7:46 road used to be railroad tracks before I
7:50 walk over and show you some remnants
7:52 it's gonna say hi to this this little
7:55 turtle oh they're having a good day okay
8:11 see you according to the info I've
8:11 always heard the tracks ran along here
8:14 and occasionally you will see a
8:18 structure like this one which was
8:20 adjacent to them so this is a remnant of
8:23 the old railroad this building with the
8:29 open door don't go in it's a trap you
8:33 just kind of need to think about however
8:35 even though the rails the wood beams are
8:38 gone there are still some memories out
8:43 here in the middle of nowhere Florida I
8:47 don't know your age and it wouldn't be
8:50 polite to ask but were you around back
8:54 in those times or did you hear stories
8:56 from your parents or grandparents about
8:59 the old railroad
9:01 I don't remember huh you can almost kind
9:09 of picture it see it in your head
9:11 running parallel
9:13 there's another structure there
9:25 this is a bit of a surprise in all
9:25 honesty I didn't expect it to be fully
9:30 standing I knew parts of it would be but
9:32 they have not removed anything since a
9:34 couple days before Christmas last year
9:36 when an 18-wheeler ran into the front of
9:39 the historic Desert Inn all they have
9:42 done since those days since that
9:44 occasion is put up a fence around it
9:47 that's it
9:49 nothing has been removed
9:58 Wow before arriving I was trying to
9:58 think about what it would look like once
9:59 I got here my thought was that this
10:02 entire front portion would have been
10:04 taken away
10:05 you know bulldozed out and maybe the
10:07 back end would remain but nope all of
10:11 its here found it as a trading post in
10:13 the late 1880s the current building
10:16 dates before 1925 and served as supply
10:20 and recreational center for cattle
10:22 drovers lumbermen and tourists during
10:25 the era when much of Osceola County was
10:28 under development and if it sat here
10:32 this long after destruction odds are
10:37 pretty good that there is no hurry and
10:41 it could be this way for a long time
10:59 cut the do not cross line they're on the
10:59 opposite side that was put up almost
11:01 immediately and then following this
11:04 chain link when I heard the news of that
11:07 late evening the following day drove out
11:10 here as I did today to document the
11:14 event and what had transpired and now
11:18 I'm back and it's eerily a little deja
11:24 vu moment months later months later
11:28 still the same
11:31 there is quite a bit of signage stating
11:33 that this has been deemed structurally
11:36 unsafe
11:50 kind of slithered through that little
11:50 opening I am NOT gonna do so I'm just
11:54 gonna look from outside and one aspect
11:57 I'm kind of excited that it's still here
12:00 and another one I'm thinking what the
12:03 heck
12:04 parts of it need to go this was a very
12:08 cherished place for a lot of locals and
12:11 those who pass through now I know
12:15 nothing about architecture building
12:18 something putting a home or business as
12:22 far as the facade goes together
12:26 construction is not my forte but if I
12:31 had to guess
12:39 could just take off this this end get
12:39 rid of the debris and put another wall
12:43 on it and closing it leave the rest of
12:47 it I'm just kind of thinking out loud
13:02 or possibly there are plans in the works
13:02 to get rid of all of it maybe it's just
13:07 a waiting game they figured no sense in
13:11 taking some of it away if it's all gonna
13:13 go just do it all in one in one shot I
13:17 guess I could maybe see that happening
13:21 the answer is wind and if I guess I have
13:26 to wait and see you know in the future
13:29 way down the road come back to Central
13:32 Florida to check it out again and see if
13:34 there's any progress
13:55 should also mention that it was placed
13:56 on the National Register of Historic
13:58 Places back in 1994 that could have
14:02 something to do with its current state
14:04 it could
15:00 the thing about this low-lying areas of
15:00 water Alyssa I heard a grunting which
15:15 means there could be alligators through
15:18 here don't want to go wading can't see
15:26 him there in there Lake Marion no
15:38 dumping of fish in the ramp or Park area
15:42 I would walk out on this dock but there
15:46 is a lot of bugs I started to walk that
15:51 direction and they were everywhere kind
15:54 of guarding guarding the wooded platform
15:58 that's gonna do it for today if you're
