Goodbye Ozzy Osbourne

Welcome everyone. Adam the Woo here. As
0:03
the recording of this, it is Tuesday,
0:05
July 22nd,
0:07
2025.
0:10
Azie Osborne, the news just broke about
0:12
an hour or two ago that Azie has passed
0:15
away. Prince of Darkness, pop culture
0:19
icon in the rock world. I think of
0:23
a few different voices that are so
0:25
recognizable. One of them being Joey
0:27
Raone from the Ramones, almost
0:30
impossible to copy. And another Azie
0:33
Osborne. Now, Joey passed on many years
0:36
ago. I was lucky enough to see the
0:38
Ramones back in the day and see that
0:42
very unique voice in person. did not
0:46
ever get to see Azie perform live, but I
0:48
was thinking today going over to the
0:51
Hollywood Boulevard, checking out the
0:53
star of Aussie Osborne and see what's
0:57
happening there. But also go to Amoeba
0:59
Records. I've been collecting vinyl the
1:01
last few months. Didn't collect vinyl
1:02
for many, many years because I was
1:04
hopping from place to place, selling off
1:06
my stuff, traveling, living in a van,
1:09
having an apartment, going from
1:10
apartment to apartment. Didn't really
1:12
want to have a lot of stuff. But now
1:14
that I own a house, now that I bought a
1:15
house, I have a little more room and
1:16
I've been kind of delving into the vinyl
1:19
world. And I was thinking this morning
1:21
when I heard the news, I really should
1:22
probably get No More Tears, which is
1:24
probably one of my personal favorite
1:26
Aussie albums on LP and on vinyl and
1:30
possibly Bark at the Moon. Maybe I'll
1:32
get both of those, but No More Tears if
1:35
they have it. And if they don't have
1:36
that, Bark at the Moon.
1:38
I would imagine there might be a demand
1:41
on the the records today. I think people
1:43
are probably going to ammo to to get
1:45
vinyl and to the star to pay their
1:47
respects. But we'll see where the day
1:48
leads and then I'll just see what
1:50
whatever else happens throughout the
1:51
course of the day. But I'm inviting you
1:53
to join me. Let's go down to the
1:54
boulevard, shall you? I've gone ahead
1:57
and ordered the ride share. It'll be
1:59
here momentarily and then down to
2:01
Hollywood Boulevard. See where the day
2:03
leads. All right. Very quick commute
2:06
over this way. Got dropped off. Right
2:08
over there is Amoeba Music. I call it
2:11
Amiva Records, but the real title is Amo
2:13
Amoie Music. I'm probably just going to
2:15
head right to the Aussie Black Sabbath
2:18
section.
2:23
It's wild that Amoa Music. So, it's over
2:23
here on Hollywood Boulevard now, but for
2:25
the longest time when I lived here from
2:27
2017 to 2019 was over on Sunset, but
2:30
that building's empty now. Was closed
2:32
for a while. was right across from the
2:34
now closed Jack in the Box
2:38
near the theater that's also empty right
2:40
on Sunset.
2:42
But they moved from that spot over here
2:43
to Hollywood Boulevard. Now, they didn't
2:46
have the exact ones I wanted. In fact,
2:48
the whole section was pretty much
2:50
cleaned out by now. There were only a
2:52
few different LPs, but I was able to get
2:55
Wizard of Oz and I was able to get a
2:57
Black Sabbath album that I used to have
3:00
on CD way back in the day. I don't even
3:02
know if I even have the majority of my
3:04
CDs anymore. I have one of those CD
3:06
booklets, but this one I used to have
3:08
with the case. Don't ask me what h what
3:10
happened to I'd say probably 3/4 of all
3:13
my old CDs are long gone, but I do have
3:16
the one the one booklet that's in the,
3:18
you know, no cases, but they're in the
3:20
little sleeves that would scratch them
3:21
up. So, I ended up purchasing an album
3:23
that I used to have on CD, and I got
3:27
Blizzard of Oz. There was only like
3:29
three Aussie albums left.
3:31
A lot of people were walking around with
3:33
ones that got there before I did. As
3:35
well as
3:37
so much conversation in Amoeba. As I was
3:39
walking around, it seems like every
3:41
person was talking to others about what
3:44
just happened and their Aussie memories
3:46
and Amoeba records, Amoeba music. They
3:50
were playing Aussie over the
3:54
over the intercom or over the over the
3:56
speakers in there as well. But yeah, got
3:58
my got my bag here. There's the Capitol
4:00
Records building right there. Also,
4:02
interesting fact, this mural here in
4:04
Hollywood, was painted by an artist,
4:06
Tristan Eaton, I believe his name is,
4:09
and he did the monster mural.
4:12
It's on the lower lot, the back lot if
4:14
you will, at Universal Studios
4:16
Hollywood, which I've shown a few times.
4:18
All right, walking along the other stars
4:20
here. Now Aussies is up on the corner of
4:22
Hollywood and Highland pretty close to
4:25
or maybe even in front of the the
4:27
Ripleys where Buster is busting out of
4:30
the roof. I just passed a store back
4:31
there which is a body energy store and I
4:34
heard Aussie being played in there as
4:36
well. What's up? Robert Goule,
4:40
Phil Silvers,
4:42
Jack Benny, King of the Impressions,
4:45
Rich Little,
4:47
Mickey Rooney,
4:56
This is interesting. This is a little
4:56
plaque right outside the Khena building.
5:00
Khena building has that very unique
5:03
architecture. You can see it at
5:04
Hollywood Studios. doesn't think you can
5:06
even see it at DCA. They've recreated
5:08
it. But this site was part of the
5:10
original 160 acres that a developer
5:12
Harvey Wilcox and his wife named quote
5:15
Hollywood. So, it's kind of like one of
5:17
the original spots when they gave it the
5:20
name. It's now a Popeye's Chicken.
5:24
I always like to point this out when I
5:26
walk by this spot along the boulevard.
5:28
This alleyway was used in a pivotal
5:30
scene from the movie Maxine. In fact,
5:33
Maxine's apartment was right up there.
5:34
If you ever seen the Maxine movie, which
5:36
is kind of a love letter to 1980s
5:39
Hollywood, it's a it's a horror film,
5:41
Mia Goth. It was the third in the Mia
5:44
Goth trilogy, which started with X and
5:47
Pearl. And then Maxine, that was the
5:49
entryway into her apartment up there,
5:51
and her apartment was right up there.
5:53
But there is a scene with Buster Katon.
5:55
I don't want to give too many spoilers,
5:57
but if you seen it, you were probably
6:00
little little uh cringiness that
6:01
happened right in here. Especially if
6:04
you are if you're a man and you're
6:07
watching that scene, you'd be like,
6:08
"That is not how I want to go." That
6:11
happened uh happened right in here in
6:13
this alleyway. Camera was right up
6:15
there. I've showed it before, but I'm
6:17
walking right by it, so figured why not
6:19
show it again. Yeah. Maxine filming
6:21
location. Oh, this looks bad. This has
6:23
been spray painted over before, but then
6:25
usually they will clean it up. Someone
6:27
has come in here and just annihilated
6:29
this thing. Originally painted by Thomas
6:33
Sarija,
6:34
if I'm reading that correct, S U R I Y A
6:38
SA 1983.
6:41
It's become really common place for
6:44
this thing to really be tarnished and
6:46
destroyed. And someone has really done a
6:48
number on it. covered up a lot of the
6:57
Hollywood icons, if you will. If you've
6:57
also seen La La Land, that's where she
6:59
walks in right there from La La Land.
7:00
It's a La La Land filming location.
7:09
And James Dean is like unrecognizable
7:10
now behind all that paint. WC Fields,
7:13
Woody Allen right there, Clark Gable.
7:31
John Wayne.
7:31
Wow, look at this thing.
7:54
Maybe they've just given up on fighting
7:54
the spray paint.
8:03
I need to go ahead and grab a coffee.
8:03
There is a coffee shop right over there.
8:06
I'll pop over. And one more block up is
8:09
going to be Aussie Star. And I'll show
8:11
the records I got before heading over
8:14
there or once I get over there. Just
8:16
waiting for this this to change. And
8:19
these are the albums that I got. I got
8:20
Sabotage right there. There's Aussie as
8:24
well.
8:26
I haven't had this in a while.
8:27
Obviously, you can get it on, you know,
8:29
you can do like streaming platforms
8:30
where you can listen to it, but I
8:31
haven't had an actual physical copy of
8:33
this since I had that CD copy
8:36
as well. This is the album tracks
8:40
right there. And so that's Sabbath. And
8:44
of course, Aussie had a whole solo
8:46
career with many, many albums. One of
8:49
the few they still had left in stock cuz
8:50
they were going pretty quick. Again, a
8:52
lot of people were in there buying some,
8:54
but ended up getting this, which has, of
8:56
course, has Crazy Train on it right up
8:59
there. Mr. Crawley,
9:03
I just saw I just met Jack Black the
9:04
other day. Really nice guy. saw him over
9:07
at Pam's Coffee, which is right next to
9:09
the Vista Theater that Quinton Tarantino
9:11
owns couple couple days ago. And I
9:15
believe it was Jack and some other
9:17
artists. They ended up covering Mr.
9:20
Cwley. They did a pretty good job. I'm
9:22
pretty sure it was Mr. Cwley that they
9:24
covered a really good rendition of it.
9:26
But yeah, bought both of these. I
9:28
figured today was an appropriate day to
9:30
get some some Aussie on vinyl and then
9:33
when I take it home I can give it a spin
9:36
when I finally get home.
9:45
It's also very interesting there's
9:46
Glorious Watson there as well from
9:47
Sunset Boulevard. It's also very
9:49
interesting that Aussie just played his
9:51
very last reunion and final show less
9:54
than two weeks ago. I think it was like
9:56
a week and a half ago.
9:59
And it was around the same time that I
10:00
was over in Europe. I didn't make it to
10:03
the show, but I was in the close
10:04
proximity and I thought, "Oh man, I
10:06
didn't realize that was actually
10:07
happening while I was over in that area.
10:37
you should be on air for want to know
10:37
like what do you think about his
11:00
What do you think about
11:00
passing?
11:02
>> It was inevitable, you know. I mean, he
11:06
he did he did he did one of the last
11:08
performances. I'm sure you heard about
11:10
it back back at in England.
11:12
>> Yeah.
11:12
>> He did he he did the last performance
11:15
and so I think he knew that it was
11:20
>> so he went to
11:33
>> So he was on the boulevard.
11:33
>> No, no, no. This was in Rodeo Drive. I
11:35
used to be the Goodwill ambassador for
11:36
the city. Okay. Employed.
11:38
>> I met him many times after that. That
11:40
was so it was Yeah. He was so down to
11:44
earth such a an institution.
11:47
>> So really sad sad day.
12:07
Yeah. So he playing his songs very loud
12:07
and he just like
12:10
what we need to do right now.
12:59
>> All right, I think I'm going to cut out.
12:59
Come back a little bit later. Going to
13:00
go by a tiki bar buddy of mine was
13:02
telling me about
13:04
that has food. I guess like a tiki
13:06
restaurant if you will.
13:15
>> And uh if you can say and spell your
13:15
name
13:17
and
13:35
Make sure they like me before I walk
13:35
away. Got to make sure they're all
13:50
>> right. Took a little ride share over to
13:50
this area. This is called the Golden
13:52
Compass Tiki. It's on Burbank Boulevard.
13:57
Please enter this way. Heard good
13:59
things.
14:01
Grab a bite to eat
14:05
inside here and then probably later go
14:08
back over to the the boulevard as well.
14:10
Says broken compass, get lost.
14:14
Yeah, pretty neat. I never heard of
14:16
this. My buddy Roger told me about it.
14:19
He said we should go over there sometime
14:20
and he was free today. So, we're going
14:22
to check it out. Here's the menu.
14:25
Hours of operation.
14:27
They're open noon to 10:00 every day
14:29
with the exception of Friday, open till
14:31
11:00. Saturday, open till 11:00.
14:32
Sunday, they're only open till 7:00 p.m.
14:36
So today, since it is a Tuesday, as I'm
14:38
filming this, we're open till 10:00.
14:48
Love good tiki theming.
14:48
Usually, if I go to a tiki bar, if I'm
14:50
not eating, I will get a mocktail, which
14:52
is a non-alcoholic beverage. But
14:55
sometimes I'll serve it in a tiki mug.
14:57
You know, maybe I could get a tiki mug
14:58
while I'm in here if I have a specific
14:59
one. Trying to get my tiki mug
15:01
collection up to
15:04
up to par.
15:07
Collecting records, collecting tiki
15:08
mugs, collecting magnets.
15:11
It's kind of nice when you have a house
15:13
that has a lot of room and you know you
15:15
don't have to move every year or every
15:17
two years or you're not going to get
15:18
evicted or
15:20
you have space. You got plenty of space.
15:23
You start collecting some things.
15:30
Got a nice little tiki collection going.
15:30
Tiki mug collection I should say. Going
15:33
around my kitchen and dining room area.
15:40
I always like to add on. The last tiki
15:40
mug I bought was in Atoria, Oregon. I
15:42
got a special edition Goony's 40th
15:44
anniversary sloth tiki mug that a place
15:47
had. I was pretty excited to get that.
15:55
But it's not only is it a bar, but they
15:55
serve food. They serve they serve dinner
15:57
and lunch and dinner in here.
16:01
All right. Ended up uh getting some good
16:04
food. Couple mocktails. I ended up
16:06
getting a tiki mug.
16:09
for the broken compass.
16:16
Moving on. This is the mug I got right
16:16
here. It's a
16:18
Tiki Tony Ticky Land Trading Company
16:20
design. However, made specifically
16:24
for the Broken Compass. So, kind of add
16:27
that to my little Tiki mug selection.
16:31
And I was thinking about going back down
16:32
to the boulevard, but I think I might
16:34
just pop back in Universal.
16:45
So, I got the news this morning about
16:45
Azie yesterday morning
16:48
at the Cosby Show. Malcolm Jamal Warner,
16:51
who played Theo, who was my favorite
16:53
character on the show. I've seen every
16:55
episode of that show growing up. I used
16:59
to watch all of them. He passed away.
17:01
They always say it happens in threes. So
17:04
hopefully
17:05
hopefully that's not true.
17:16
Two iconic figures, two different
17:16
entertainment,
17:17
you know, enter, you know, entertainment
17:20
spectrums. But yeah, one an actor,
17:24
one a musician. But two people that I
17:26
knew very well in the pop culture realm.
17:30
The Oasis. That's that
17:33
was tassels.
17:35
>> You what?
17:36
>> You need some tongs.
17:37
>> You need some tongues. Come up. I got
17:39
tum.
17:40
>> We got some over here.
17:41
>> You got Pepsi?
17:42
>> You got it all. It's like a pharmacy.
17:44
>> Pepto.
17:45
>> What?
17:46
>> No Pepto. Just T. I'll go get this. You
17:49
want You don't want Tums?
17:51
>> Tums will be nice.
17:52
>> I got Tums.
17:53
>> Can you
17:56
see?
17:57
What do you think of that? Look at all
17:59
these people. Are you going to Water
18:01
World? Is that what's happening?
18:03
>> Well, when you're there, your family
18:05
made it. Here it comes.
18:07
>> Oh, hold on. I got to get my tongue in
18:08
the corner.
18:09
>> There you go.
18:10
>> You really You really do need it.
18:13
>> He gave you a feel.
18:15
>> Hey, ended up meeting up with my friend
18:16
Chris in the park for a little bit.
18:17
Caught up with him. Had seen him in a
18:19
while.
18:21
Took some photos.
18:23
He had to take off, go back in, do a
18:27
couple other things in the park. and I
18:28
decided to go back to the hotel for a
18:31
little bit, charge my phone,
18:35
and then I'm going to head down, grab
18:36
another Uber, and head down to Hollywood
18:38
Boulevard.
18:40
Back to the star.
18:54
a photo of us with the shark
18:57
draws.
18:59
All right, it's now about 7:00 and I
19:01
made it back over to the star.
19:11
>> Hey man, how you doing? Watch you all
19:11
the time.
20:16
Bluetooth.
20:16
>> I stayed over at the star probably for a
20:18
couple more hours, more and more people
20:20
showed up and brought their flowers and
20:23
candles,
20:29
photographs,
20:29
and then as the night progressed turned
20:31
into a big singalong where people were
20:35
cheering and clapping and singing along.
20:37
Guy brought a big speaker was playing
20:40
Aussie and Black Sabbath songs.
20:59
I think the only other time I've been to
20:59
something like this was when Bert
21:01
Reynolds passed away. As far as going to
21:02
a Hollywood star when someone passed.
21:06
Now, I was in town when Paul Rubin's
21:08
Peewee Herman
21:11
when he passed away, but I ended up
21:13
going to the house from Peewee's Big
21:16
Adventure and Cabazone Dinosaurs that
21:19
dinosaurs that day out in Kabazon near
21:21
Palm Springs. So, I didn't hang around
21:24
the Star,
21:26
but this was really kind of a moving
21:29
experience to be, you know, at the Star.
21:32
A lot of people came to pay their
21:33
respects and
21:41
all kind of come together and sing along
21:47
and remember Azie. It was it was really
21:48
really was
21:50
it really was an experience and I'm
21:52
really glad I was able to to check it
21:54
out.
22:05
kind of a mish mash of a day.
22:05
Kind of started off at the star. Then I
22:08
left and went to the tiki restaurant,
22:10
hung out with a friend,
22:12
and then
22:15
him and I hung out for a little bit. And
22:16
then I end up going to Universal, met up
22:19
with another friend of mine, him and I
22:21
had coffee and caught up. Then I decided
22:23
to go back to the boulevard. I'm glad I
22:25
did.
22:31
It's also very interesting. It's just,
22:31
you know, it's the reality of the
22:33
situation. The older you get, people
22:35
that you grew up with knowing them and
22:37
pop culture and listening to them,
22:39
seeing them on TV. You think of the
22:41
Osborne's TV show was just a huge
22:43
reality show. I think everybody watched
22:45
when that was on.
22:47
But the, you know, the older you get,
22:49
when you get to be my age, you start to,
22:51
you know, people that were 25, 30 years
22:54
older than you, all start to
22:58
start to pass on.
23:04
When I was younger, I remember my
23:04
parents would always talk about people
23:05
that they knew,
23:08
you know, celebrities, and I had no idea
23:10
who those celebrities were, that they
23:12
were talking about that like, "Oh, did
23:13
you hear the news that this person
23:17
isn't around anymore.
23:20
And I didn't know have any idea who they
23:21
were talking about because I was just
23:22
young. I was very young. But now that
23:24
I've gotten older, you have more of a
23:26
repertoire of people.
23:35
Anyway, just that just crossed my mind.
23:35
Thanks for watching. I'll see you in the
23:36
next video.
