today's adventure brings us to Los
0:02
Angeles California to the land that was
0:05
donated by this guy Griffith J Griffith
0:09
and even though his life was filled with
0:12
a little bit of controversy the park
0:15
still remains as his namesake welcome
0:19
everyone Adams the whoo here tagging
0:21
along as Danny 702 how many times have
0:25
you been into this protector I think we
0:36
should do that today kind of mosey in
0:39
there's plenty to see it'll be like a
0:42
whole mishmash of content that we're
0:45
doing on this property inviting you to
0:47
join me and Danny something I'd say
0:50
Charlie obviously will not be covering
0:53
every nook and cranny because the
0:57
premise is vast but we'll get to some of
1:00
the key points for sure so one reason or
1:04
another the pigeons like waiting around
1:06
and the very shallow water here appear
1:12
to be feeding - there must be some seeds
1:14
there little nuggets of goodness munch
1:18
on down in there
1:20
first up gonna take a train ride the
1:22
fairs listed there on that signage
1:25
adults three dollars and fifty cents
1:28
each two different locomotives the
1:31
Stanley diamond dated 1992 and the
1:35
colonel Griffith dated 1983
1:43
and these are the seating arrangements
1:43
just about to open their doors
2:00
I went around the bend
2:00
first ride today up the conductor is
2:07
waving
2:16
we got some cacti some cactus down here
2:16
and even though it is nearing end of
2:20
January holiday items still on property
2:40
maybe they represent all holidays
2:40
hello bunny
3:00
now here to be going through like a
3:00
wilderness to the brush foliage
4:26
yep so it goes right on the other side
4:26
of that fence carpeted s treants walking
4:29
occasional traffic going by don't mind
4:33
us doubt through trainer
4:54
where they do all the maintenance
4:54
and they parked them for the evening
5:21
it's just a little strange that it's
5:21
almost fete what week away from February
5:23
give or take mister got the Christmas oh
5:27
yeah for one ticket you can do an
5:30
old-fashioned hayride five dollars each
5:32
and this is our pony well it's not
5:34
really a pony it's a tractor carrying in
5:36
the trailer but this is what we're
5:38
boarding yes having a little bit of a
5:41
WAMP WAMP WAMP WAMP moments was told is
5:45
not quite operational today got our
5:48
tickets but they are issuing now a
5:50
refund we just have to just have to look
5:52
at it it's not moving just have to look
5:54
at it and then move on the worker just
5:58
informed us that the tractor was giving
6:00
them a little trouble and making some
6:01
interesting noises so they figured it'd
6:04
be best just not to not to run it I know
6:06
you're a little disappointed not to do
6:08
the old fashioned hayride and I was
6:09
going to suggest just reaching over and
6:12
touching the hay to get it but okay just
6:16
just just gander I'll just stare that
6:19
could have been us sitting right there
6:22
fail there's something very interesting
6:26
at the bottom of the hill next to the
6:28
park ranger headquarters and the visitor
6:30
center before the park if you remember
6:34
the television version of Beauty and the
6:36
Beast
6:37
starring Ron Perlman and Linda Hamilton
6:39
the beasts lair was set up right around
6:44
this sewage tunnel well it's not really
6:48
sewage more of a drainage runoff for
6:51
when it floods but they put you know a
6:54
little bit of some trees and brush right
6:58
around this just for a couple of shots
7:00
that's what I've always heard but inside
7:04
the tunnel itself if you go up in here
7:07
there used to be some graffiti it looks
7:12
like it's been spray-painted over people
7:15
would leave their mark and their love of
7:17
the television show here on the side of
7:22
the walls but I'm not seeing at this
7:26
point I'm not seeing any yeah it looks
7:31
like it's all been erased a few years
7:33
ago I was in here and it still remained
7:35
inched on the side of the on the side of
7:38
this too but not anymore I can kind of
7:41
see why it was painted over but those
7:45
who made the pilgrimage to leave their
7:46
mark
7:47
there's nothing here designating that
7:49
they did so anymore a ceramic history
7:53
lines these walls and then over here on
7:57
the backside of where I currently am is
8:01
that iconic sign the opposite side of
8:04
the mountain it and the lion the lone
8:11
lion that roams the hillside the
8:14
Hollywood side would be here on the left
8:16
we are just venturing through this
8:19
particular this particular area on this
8:22
side
8:22
some of the other animals that can be
8:25
found around these parts Bobcat coyote
8:28
foxes raccoons even us stripes conk over
8:33
there
8:33
here's a photo of Colonel Griffith just
8:35
kind of strolling the streets that's
8:38
what he looked like in picture form got
8:40
to love this historic carousel where
8:42
Walt Disney himself used to hang out
8:44
side of the old Los Angeles Zoo closed
8:47
in the mid-60s opened in 1912 to 1965
8:53
open to the general public in fact quite
8:56
a few hikers and locals always walk
9:00
around some walking their dogs right now
9:04
pretty neat to thank that animals we're
9:09
all in here it was an active attraction
9:35
in fact it was right over in this
9:35
section where Ron Burgundy was trapped
9:38
an anchorman with the bear there's a
9:43
painting of a penguin with a chef's chef
9:46
hat up there see the penguin with the
9:51
chef's hat molly-molly the penguin if
10:03
you're daring enough you could go up
10:06
inside the cages themselves I've been
10:08
here in the past and normally they are
10:12
locked but currently all the locks are
10:17
open
10:51
this is what it's like what it's like to
10:51
be in a cage in a zoo okay are you I'm
11:00
gonna say my bearing our second railroad
11:17
experience the live steamers
11:44
your head must touch the bottom of the
11:44
lantern in order to ride engines
11:47
one round trip from the new Sherwood
11:50
station in that case is a scale-model
11:53
wooden Pacific glass and a box of
11:58
Huggies just went by
11:59
I did not realize when we got in line
12:02
that would be waiting the time frame we
12:04
have it is now 1:00 p.m. we got here at
12:08
this location at noon so one hour
12:10
waiting in the queue it's busy
12:13
thankfully we have an umbrella over our
12:15
heads the block us from the Sun a lot
12:19
over 60 minutes dude we're almost have
12:22
probably another two trains okay thank
12:24
you see these here
12:33
it's not hot and we're in the show
12:33
double good double double good that's
12:36
even oh so close
12:39
where oh so close
13:03
he's taking a picture that increase I
13:03
don't give it back
13:04
that's a document that's for posterity
13:06
it was just you two right give it to it
13:09
on the camera okay and the cell phone
13:12
okay very good
13:22
try to keep your feet on the inside of
13:22
the ground
13:30
if you drop something simply raise your
13:30
hand I will stop the train I will get it
13:33
I will bring it back to you do not get
13:34
off the train unless I ask you to
13:36
anybody that guy up there is living
13:42
dangerously
13:44
like perched up it also has a little
13:48
tiny chair with them
13:50
careful of their hey we're moving
13:55
careful up there on that roof
14:43
my foot is about 1/8 of a natural
14:43
dependence
14:58
oh hello there
14:58
old man on the porch
15:12
nice without house
15:12
pretty
15:37
laughter god I lost my glasses
15:38
we have are quite another pair of
15:40
glasses have been lost
15:50
this is why you don't want to lead your
15:51
hand
15:53
it should have been a little more
15:55
prepared whoo that's probably gonna burn
15:58
up just a little bit
17:02
there's Walt's hard
17:02
Carrollwood barn
19:01
remember a few minutes ago when I was
19:01
wearing glasses and I own a pair of
19:04
glasses
19:17
all my plans
19:17
thank you appreciate it
19:20
come again
19:27
and they even have merchandise for sale
19:27
hats bandanas and whistles wooden
19:30
whistles it is pretty wild to think
19:32
something of this size is what was
19:34
pulling over 25 passengers
19:38
here comes us even smaller version
19:46
and
19:59
I have to two things to chime in about
19:59
this spot the wait time rather link
20:02
lengthy and then my hand
20:04
you think it'll bruise yeah because
20:09
there's this thing like I should have
20:11
kept my hands in a little tighter which
20:13
they warned they said keep your camera
20:15
kind of knew your chest I kind of just
20:18
beats it out just a little bit I mean
20:19
just just lightly there were just things
20:22
are all around you so I almost even did
20:24
it haha a little memento of this
20:30
occasion
20:31
less than about a quarter of a mile down
20:33
is yet another known as travel town and
20:38
yes they have trains full-size versions
20:42
on display but I think this episode is
20:47
kind of morphed into riding the
20:48
miniature ones and they have that as
20:51
well and as an example here it comes now
20:55
going down the track and that streetcar
21:00
from San Francisco is now here in
21:01
Southern California
21:06
there's grass growing on the top of it
21:06
oh yeah this is happening
21:20
that has a roof shielded from the
21:20
elements looks like there's plenty of
21:23
room we shouldn't have to wait till on
21:24
to board that one that looks like a walk
21:28
on number 28 and there is that grass
21:33
coming from the roof I was mentioning a
21:35
second ago
21:41
interesting perspective the full-size
21:41
the tiny version and freeway traffic all
21:47
in the same frame off in the distance
22:06
indoors as this little museum area this
22:06
entire section parking and coming in a
22:09
travel town itself is absolutely free
22:13
free admission
22:26
the carnation milk truck there is a
22:26
classic
22:28
however if you want to ride the mini
22:31
railroad adults 350 I believe it's owned
22:36
by the same people from the first one we
22:38
rode so first one in this one owned by
22:40
one separate entity and the live
22:43
steamers the second one for another
22:46
company these look to the original
22:49
ticket windows
23:07
the first one was about this size they
23:07
didn't have didn't have the roof second
23:10
one was about a quarter of this size
23:13
straddled it and then this one might be
23:16
the most expansive and the most decent
23:19
size wise I think we got a lot more room
23:22
in here nowhere near full size like it's
23:25
like quarters to see the last one was
23:27
eighth scale this immedi quarters it
23:31
scales six seven
25:54
kind of habla
25:54
Oh
26:43
two rounds on this one
26:43
just one going for a second loop a
26:47
second Grand Tour
28:42
courage 1991 better a teetering up on
28:42
them now I have have son I feel like son
28:48
of my eyes now but that's going to do it
28:51
for today
28:52
3 3 3 3 3 that's gonna do I don't know
29:02
why I feel thing that's gonna do it for
29:08
today if you're new here please
29:10

29:12

29:15
further ring that notification go and
29:17
check in the description box for the
29:18
link to Danny 72 channel down there as
29:21
well 3 we did 3 miniature Griffith Park
29:25
shrines you have a favorite something
29:27
you're going to remember out of that
29:28
trilogy they were really cool but I
29:32
think firstly the first one is your
29:34
favorite just because it was the first
29:35
strain of the name
29:36
I will remember number two because I
29:40
will have a permanent itched in my head
29:43
hopefully not a scar but maybe a scar
29:45
and I lost I lost some treasured
29:48
sunblock
29:49
later the good news for a little while -
29:52
my ego especially - my filming ego not
29:55
real
29:56
all right I'll see you in the next video
