0:04 welcome everyone Adam is the Wu here
0:04 today number 13 of this current series
0:07 where I go around to Southern California
0:09 eateries those that are notable tasty
0:13 and/or the combination of being some
0:17 would say iconic the Greater Los Angeles
0:22 area and Orange County I'm heading down
0:26 to Laguna Beach I'm inviting you to join
0:29 me show you
0:31 getting all my accessories ready and
0:35 about to head out that's the back tire
0:38 my bicycle but I'll be driving not
0:43 riding
0:43 I agree big the foot it is a nice scenic
0:46 truck signal ahead what signal are you
0:49 gonna do big the foot I suppose you
0:51 could get on top of those hills and wave
0:53 your arms around a lot that would be a
0:55 good signal I'll be startled everyone
0:57 though at the crossroads of Cleo Street
1:00 and the Coast Highway
1:03 sits the oldest operating Taco Bell in
1:08 Orange County
1:11 look at that beautiful structure over
1:14 there it's open for business it's been
1:16 going strong since the late 64 yeah 1967
1:21 to be more precise than from what I read
1:23 was the very first Taco Bell to have
1:27 indoor seating pretty incredible when
1:32 you think about it think of how many
1:33 there are out there this is the first
1:36 one to have into a city also as best I
1:38 can tell just from you know doing a
1:43 little researching is the third oldest
1:45 anywhere out of all of them this is the
1:48 third oldest still in operation for this
1:52 county it is Orange County it is the
1:54 oldest but all across the board
1:57 the third the very first Taco Bell which
2:01 was located in Downey is at the main
2:04 headquarters Schrunk wrap tucked away
2:08 for all to see you do that you really
2:12 cannot feast your eyes on the original
2:14 architecture like what I am staring at
2:18 and still get yourself a taco from the
2:23 old school
2:24 Taco Bell now I have frequented this
2:28 company's establishments dozens and
2:30 dozens well to be honest hundreds of
2:32 times in my life but this might be the
2:34 very first time I've eaten in one of the
2:36 old school buildings the beauty of this
2:39 is beyond magnificence when it comes to
2:43 fast food history
2:45 little renovations the top portion which
2:49 used to arch up a little more has been
2:51 removed but the outer shell is identical
2:56 these walls could talk
2:59 we'd be mentioning a lot of very full
3:02 bellies and happy smiles from guests
3:06 over the years way over half a century
3:09 happy customers Wow
3:13 around SoCal you will see a lot of these
3:15 structures that have been taken over
3:17 sometimes even by other taco stands and
3:19 burrito places and the likes even even
3:24 food choices that don't even relate to
3:26 their original incarnation of what the
3:29 of what the facades were intended this
3:33 is exciting
3:34 it's happening they used to all look
3:37 like this no longer building them in
3:40 this fashion anymore look at the
3:42 brickwork down here there did reach a
3:44 point when the style of the buildings
3:49 changed completely
3:51 but there were a multitude of these
3:55 types
3:57 a little flower bat out front is
3:58 beautiful
4:00 call the greenery and foliage another
4:02 fun fact there is no drive-through at
4:05 this particular one but they are open
4:06 for take-out just go inside the side
4:09 entry is how you gain access there's a
4:11 fountain by the door well a side door no
4:15 water accumulating and it's not doing
4:18 any sort of clumping at the moment oh
4:21 there's a B right there oh wow look
4:50 I was not able to get too much footage
4:50 inside it's par for the course with a
4:52 lot of places when you go in they think
4:55 some are cool with you wandering around
4:58 with the camera and documenting the
5:00 history and inside of a place and some
5:03 others are confused by it and tell you
5:06 to stop so I got a little better than
5:08 they asked please sir no more filming in
5:10 here and I got my I got my to go order
5:13 I'm gonna go beachside and count out I
5:16 also also got my beverage
5:28 the wouldn't wouldn't beam portions
5:28 right up here a little relics there
5:30 there's two of them one on this end and
5:32 one on the other so good right down this
5:38 way and here's a view from the back
5:41 section you can see portions of where
5:44 that archway used to be original
5:47 brickwork and all only a few yards away
5:53 was this a very very short Stones Throw
6:34 just like those seagulls are sitting on
6:34 the rocks I have found a place in the
6:36 shade to perch not only my bag of meal
6:41 items but also myself little sandy but
6:45 I'm gonna sit right here
6:51 it's a little wet I changed my mind a
6:52 bit these stairs
6:59 little thirsty
6:59 the box is a little little scrunched
7:02 from the way I was carrying it but I
7:04 have I do not recall the menu item but
7:08 it this is a this is a Mexican pizza now
7:10 it's coming back to me and basically it
7:13 has all the cheeses and sauces on top
7:16 and then down in here are the refried
7:20 beans underneath this underneath this
7:23 flap that's going to be good they did
7:25 give me some plastic cutlery to use as
7:29 well this is what we're dealing with
7:32 it's not really about the meal per se
7:34 even though this that's kind of a
7:36 makeshift food review but it's more
7:39 about the location this is something
7:42 that I am familiar with in fact the
7:43 whole bag full of goodies I'm just gonna
7:46 they think I'm gonna use this one put
7:47 that right back and just go in
7:51 so in this kind of style it's broken up
7:54 it's not every day you can go inside the
7:58 oldest Taco Bell in Orange County
8:01 California and get an item that you can
8:04 get frankly anywhere else and in the
8:06 other franchises so pretty pretty dang
8:54 you can really taste the sauce on this
8:54 very prominent
9:54 also picked up a couple of regular tacos
9:54 but they said I don't know if they're
9:56 supreme I don't really see any sour
9:58 cream maybe I didn't but it's got all
10:00 the other accessories so maybe it is a
10:01 supreme yeah I think this is the frame I
10:03 got a few other
10:14 have to kind of twist your neck
10:51 brought my chair down here get a
10:51 little more comfortable Feinstein
11:03 definitely was the frame see the sour
11:03 cream
11:38 they were moving in once I moved away
11:38 they smelled the bag
12:18 Hitchcock would be proud back up these
12:18 stairs
12:26 much easier walking down then going back
12:26 upward
