welcome everyone out of the woo here I'm
0:05
coming to you from the corner of Foley
0:07
Avenue and South Fourth Street in eala
0:11
Oklahoma and as I head through the
0:14
Midwest Westward bound back to
0:16
California I am stopping off again for
0:18
the third time in my adult
0:21
life here in eala Oklahoma where I grew
0:24
up and I've done a few Vlogs in the past
0:27
of my old stomping grounds one over at
0:29
the park with the merrygoround and one
0:33
downtown but this Vlog is going to be in
0:35
particular about the house I lived in
0:37
from 1989 1990 and 1991 the formidable
0:43
years of my existence and my life we're
0:47
right here at the house that I'm about
0:49
to show you here at
0:51
415 West Foley Avenue it was not the
0:56
color that you're going to see back when
0:58
I lived here but it is now yellow but it
1:02
was not yellow when I lived here prepare
1:03
yourself now for my childhood home here
1:06
in eala
1:13
Oklahoma this is where it all
1:17
happened this tree is exactly the same
1:20
this rock wall is still the same and you
1:22
can see over time that gravity and this
1:25
hill has pushed it down just a little
1:28
bit the fence was not here when my
1:31
family lived here my dad was the
1:32
minister at First Christian Church here
1:35
in eala Oklahoma and before I started
1:37
filming in this Vlog I got lucky enough
1:39
to go by there and even though the
1:40
building is no longer a church building
1:41
they're doing some Renovations inside
1:43
and they had the door open so I actually
1:45
got to walk around the sanctuary up to
1:49
where the baptismal used to be that
1:51
they've now removed back to where my
1:53
dad's office was in the fellowship hall
1:55
and then upstairs to the two tiny rooms
1:57
on the upstairs of this building that
1:59
most people don't even realize is there
2:01
these old school rickety floors I got to
2:04
climb to the top of there and see my old
2:07
Sunday School classroom which was very
2:09
very awesome but now I am here at my
2:12
home where I grew up just imagine a non
2:15
yellow version of this house it was
2:17
actually Brown then and please excuse
2:19
the wind I have actually placed a
2:21
sticker on the back side of my phone
2:23
hopefully there's not too much wind you
2:24
can actually hear what I'm saying but
2:26
that window right there that I'm
2:29
pointing at that window right there was
2:31
actually my room from 1989 1990 and
2:38
1991 which would have made me 15 16 and
2:42
17 years old and I used to mow this
2:45
entire yard with a push mower and I do
2:48
not like yard work and mowing I I am not
2:52
a fan of the outdoor mowing mechanisms
2:56
especially with a non push mower so this
2:59
almost almost a Halfacre lot was very
3:02
difficult to mow especially during the
3:04
summer I did not enjoy it this brings
3:06
back painful memories of me mowing this
3:09
yard on a weekly basis but the porch is
3:13
still the same I used to climb up on top
3:16
of this roof this was the the roof here
3:18
on top of the garage I used to actually
3:20
go around the side hoist my body up
3:23
between the fence and the garage and sit
3:27
up on top of the roof and just sit up
3:29
there and think about what I had planned
3:32
the goodness that would be going on
3:34
right in there was the kitchen my sister
3:36
and I would come out of there many a
3:37
times or be playing in the yard my mom
3:39
would summon us time for dinner we would
3:42
go inside there but that was my room
3:45
that was the kitchen and this was the
3:48
yard and there used to be an alley that
3:49
used to be able to go through they
3:50
actually blocked the alley off you can't
3:52
even go through the alley anymore one of
3:55
my best friends oh it's very windy one
3:57
of my best friends lived in that house
3:59
right there
4:00
JJ Barry who had a brother and another
4:03
brother named Jim and James and his name
4:06
was JJ so it's very interesting I always
4:09
wondered if his name was Jim James and
4:12
his brother's name was Jim and
4:14
James not the most creative naming of
4:18
the children in that Homestead but that
4:21
was his house and in that tree you see
4:24
that tree that I'm pointing at right
4:25
there he actually had a tree for it and
4:28
we set Fireworks off one time time and
4:29
they had these little black cat things
4:31
and he threw one of the fireworks in my
4:33
shoe and went off in my shoe and
4:37
scuffled the side of my foot it was very
4:40
very painful and that magical moment
4:43
happened right there the first job I
4:45
ever had the first entrepreneurial
4:48
experience that I ever had working for
4:49
someone happened right here you see
4:52
these stairways these stairways actually
4:55
led to an elementary school the
4:58
elementary school that there was an
5:00
elderly gentleman that someone in my
5:02
dad's church knew and said he needs an
5:04
assistant to help him clean the janitor
5:06
of the school after hours happened right
5:10
inside of here so basically he paid me a
5:13
few dollars an hour I don't even
5:14
remember what I was getting paid and my
5:16
first ever job happened right in here
5:19
and since then the last two decades
5:21
they've actually bulldozed and leveled
5:24
the elementary school that used to be
5:25
there but on the back side of the
5:27
elementary school there was a playground
5:28
that we used to play out all the time
5:30
and my other best friend Grant Thomasson
5:33
lived right there in that
5:37
house lot of memories here on this
5:42
street and right in here there was
5:44
actually a hallway that led up my sister
5:47
will remember this my sister is watching
5:48
this video right up in here to lead into
5:51
the school into the elementary school
5:53
there was like a hallway made of brick
5:55
on both sides maybe like a 10-ft hallway
5:58
and at the end were some stairs leading
5:59
up into the first floor of the school
6:01
building and we used to play a thing I
6:03
think we called it wall ball where we
6:05
took a tennis ball and we would throw
6:07
the ball back and forth trying not to
6:09
hit each other and we spent hours and
6:10
hours right there in that hallway
6:12
located right here a lot of memories
6:16
happen right here on this patch of grass
6:18
the thing about memories is someone that
6:20
passes by realize oh that's just a patch
6:22
of grass but in reality this is
6:24
someone's memory and this is my memory
6:27
with my sister playing here right across
6:29
from our house I did not go to the
6:32
school in fact in those years my parents
6:35
homeschooled myself and my sister so we
6:38
would get up very early my mom would get
6:40
up very early and my dad would go work
6:42
on his sermons at the church building do
6:44
the church work and my mom would teach
6:47
us our lessons
6:49
inside of that particular house right
6:51
there and then after the fact we would
6:53
usually finish our schooling around 1:
6:55
or 2 in the afternoon so before school
6:57
the regular school the regular school
6:59
kids got out of their school classes we
7:02
actually were able to be out and go and
7:04
play in a lot so we would actually go to
7:06
the park which is over there if you want
7:08
to see what the park looks like just
7:10
look up the daily Woo You Falla and you
7:12
can probably see both other Vlogs that I
7:15
have posted I will try to post the links
7:17
Down Below on some of the other places
7:19
here in you follow but I wanted to share
7:23
the homstead with you
7:26
415 West
7:28
Foley
7:30
right in
7:31
here many hours on that porch another
7:35
game my sister and I my my sister is
7:37
watching this she will remember but up
7:39
these stairs right on the side of the
7:41
porch you can see how the side of the
7:43
porch has a little ledge kind of like
7:45
this where we would put our toes on the
7:47
end of the ledge of the porch and then I
7:50
would try to push her off just not too
7:51
hard where she would be teetering and
7:53
tottering the things you do without a
7:56
television in a very very teeny tiny
7:59
town this town is very small in fact the
8:01
downtown area is less than two blocks
8:03
straight up that way my dad's church was
8:06
just right over that Horizon and the
8:08
park was right there in fact this
8:10
Baptist Church which I did not go to
8:11
this Baptist Church I went to the First
8:13
Christian Church where my dad was the
8:15
preacher over that way but in 1989 New
8:19
Year's Eve 1989 to 1990 I think that was
8:22
the year Batman Tim Burton's Batman was
8:25
on VHS we had what they called a lock in
8:28
all the Town folk kids which there's
8:30
only about 15 or 20 of us met down in
8:33
the bottom basement of this Baptist
8:35
church and we had a lock in we had pizza
8:37
we had food we had fellowship and we
8:39
watched Tim Burton's Batman so this
8:41
exact spot is where I saw my favorite
8:44
Batman film Tim Burton's Batman New
8:47
Year's Eve 1989 to 1990 right down in
8:51
that Cellar right their other memories
8:55
of course not only mowing this yard but
8:57
I remember one time in the ice and the
8:59
snow in the freezing coldness there was
9:01
a lot of ice on here so it would get
9:03
very very slick well I made it to the
9:06
top of here one time hilarious I made it
9:09
to the top of here I think my dad fell a
9:11
couple times walking up this ice East
9:13
slope walked up to the top and then I
9:15
made it to the top without slipping on
9:17
all the ice that was festooned right in
9:20
here made it to the top and then I
9:21
slipped and I slid face first straight
9:26
down Clark Griswald style from Christmas
9:29
Vacation down the roof but I slid down
9:31
this icy slope and fell right here so
9:35
there you go a lot of memories my
9:38
childhood home which was not yellow at
9:41
the time but this is my childhood home
9:44
1989 1990
9:47
1991 I love eala Oklahoma a lot of
9:50
memories here from me more memories and
9:52
I can shake a stick out there's a place
9:55
called jm's hamburgers which is right
9:57
over there that has been here since day
9:59
one so we are going to go get some food
10:03
now she's waiting patiently over there
10:05
by that sign want to wave she is not
10:08
excited about the memories that I have
10:10
because the thing about Memories the
10:11
great thing about memories is you are
10:13
the only one that shares them so thank
10:15
you very much for sharing my memories
10:18
with you hopefully this was not too
10:20
boring for you guys I wanted to give you
10:22

10:24
