0:02 welcome everyone adam the woo here as a
0:02 recording of this friday march 4 2022
0:05 standing at the threshold of market
0:06 street here in celebration florida where
0:08 the fountain i suppose is too early
0:11 for the fountain to be on and be quite
0:13 operational but this is basically a
0:15 makeshift version this town
0:17 of one of walt's two visions
0:20 of his florida project
0:22 epcot center
0:23 was kind of sort of what this was
0:25 supposed to be a place where people
0:27 lived
0:28 shopped etc this is not exactly
0:32 like what he had envisioned for epcot
0:35 but in a roundabout way disneyland no
0:37 longer
0:38 owns the property of celebration and the
0:41 other florida project
0:43 which back when they did the press
0:44 conference him and his brother roy
0:46 disney who is basically going to be the
0:49 focus of today's video i know walt gets
0:51 a lot of credit as he should for the
0:53 imagination coming up with the ideas
0:55 but the person who built wdw
0:59 was roy disney
1:01 and that's who i want to talk about and
1:02 the reason i am doing this episode not
1:03 going to be stepping into the parks
1:05 today also
1:06 a friend of mine just flew in to oia
1:09 from california orlando international he
1:11 is arriving soon
1:13 and i only have a very few select
1:15 friends that really embrace the history
1:18 of the disney corporation walt roy
1:21 the back story
1:23 he doesn't know what he's in for
1:25 but because he can't check into his
1:26 hotel till around one or two p.m i'm
1:28 going to take him out this morning and
1:30 show some of him some historical spots
1:32 that i think he's going to like i'm
1:34 inviting you to join me
1:36 as i talk about and as me and my friend
1:38 talk about roy disney shall you and this
1:41 will also tie in with the 50th
1:44 anniversary of wdw
1:46 october 1st
1:48 of last year of 21 was the technical
1:51 50th anniversary
1:53 but their celebration
1:55 goes on for oh there's a leaf blower i
1:57 hear a leaf blower
1:59 off in the distance the whole
2:00 celebration goes on for a year and a
2:01 half
2:02 and instead of going to the parks
2:04 and doing park things
2:07 why not talk about the history and give
2:09 a little backstory of how
2:11 it all began
2:13 here in central florida
2:16 starting in the mid 60s and
2:18 progressing up to the opening in 71. my
2:21 shadow looks very lengthy there
2:24 in the road
2:25 just focusing on the yard work that's
2:27 happening over here and of course i got
2:28 to start off with a piping hot
2:31 caffeinated beverage
2:34 i have now acquired
2:36 coffee for the morn and
2:39 brickie
2:40 has arrived hello
2:42 you have done a red eye they call it
2:44 jedi my first time ever in celebration
2:46 and it is awesome
2:48 first impression i really really like it
2:50 you know they're building something out
2:52 disney's building something out in the
2:54 desert and the palm springs area rancho
2:56 mirage
2:57 so coming out here has even kind of more
3:00 interesting you know because knowing
3:01 that they're taking a crack at it again
3:02 yeah and uh
3:04 it's uh so much better than what people
3:06 make it up
3:10 so i was just doing in my intro we're
3:10 gonna i'm gonna take you on a little
3:12 tour of some wdw roy history today
3:16 we're gonna start here in celebration
3:19 and celebrate the 50th of walt disney
3:21 world and talk about roy because i know
3:23 roy holds a special place in your heart
3:25 too 100
3:27 the weight that he took on in his
3:28 brother's absence
3:30 why is that not a movie
3:33 and i like i like that you're not a
3:34 hundred percent awake right now i can
3:36 tell you're kind of sleepy like did you
3:39 sleep at all on the flight no i was
3:40 editing the video
3:43 now the fountain does not appear to be
3:44 on but i want you to notice something
3:47 over here brookie
3:49 there
3:49 from the area you just flew from yeah
3:53 you might recognize a name right here
3:56 look
4:01 burbank is that the airport you flew out
4:01 of no lax you fled it but close enough
4:03 burbank adjacent
4:05 i always look at the mileage though i
4:07 would have guessed this about 2500 miles
4:09 right not 21.97 it seems it seems a
4:12 little short yeah i think it's 2500
4:32 actually kind of nice house not even not
4:32 too warm yet it probably warm up but
4:33 right now not too warm all right i gotta
4:35 ask what does this market street remind
4:37 you of
4:40 this remind you of anything yeah
4:43 like if main street usa went on vacation
4:46 made sure that's good right
4:48 like if main street usa is like we're
4:50 gonna go to the beach
4:52 i love it have you ever been to the
4:53 disney studios in burbank yes yeah you
4:57 know the building that the the dwarfs
4:59 are holding up yeah the designer his
5:01 name is michael graves yeah
5:04 that's a mic that's a piece of michael
5:05 graves work
5:06 he did a uh the humana building in
5:08 louisville kentucky where i'm from
5:10 really yeah so
5:11 his work is so noticeable he also did
5:14 the uh swan and dolphin yep right
5:16 spotted office here not michael graves
5:18 for the misfits exactly i would
5:21 always have to mention that not
5:23 not danzig era misfits michael graves
5:26 era misfits all different architects
5:28 architects
5:29 worked on all this
5:32 and then of course down here market
5:33 square what is this right here
5:36 it's now the bank bank of america but
5:39 originally this was a preview center
5:42 which i'm going to take you to
5:44 not the celebration preview center i'm
5:45 going to take you to the walt disney
5:46 world preview center i've always wanted
5:48 to see that
5:49 you want to get going let's do it all
5:51 right give me your thoughts on the
5:52 7-eleven best 7-eleven i've ever seen
5:55 you ever seen a 7-eleven looks like
5:56 you're in on sunset boulevard absolutely
5:59 not even when i was on sunset boulevard
6:06 this is amazing straight ahead downtown
6:06 orlando
6:07 lake eola is where i'm headed
6:09 the site of the florida project press
6:12 conference
6:14 a historical place
6:16 made it over to lake eola
6:19 fun fact across the way there that
6:20 amphitheater
6:22 that you see on the other side of lake
6:23 eola is named after walt disney
6:28 walt disney amphitheater over there on
6:29 the distance
6:31 back in november of 1965
6:36 at this
6:36 now apartment
6:38 building this hotel
6:40 was where the florida project was
6:41 announced back then they did not know
6:43 the name of what the the property would
6:44 be called
6:46 but it happened right over here walt roy
6:49 and the then governor
6:50 back in 1965 of florida
6:53 had a huge press conference right here
6:55 off lake eola
6:56 now as i've always heard the story goes
6:59 basically walt
7:01 was buying a bunch of property under
7:03 different names
7:04 all around central florida and no one
7:06 knew about this and there was one
7:09 very
7:10 ingenious detective like
7:13 media person who found out
7:15 what was happening
7:16 so the press conference was impromptu it
7:19 was not planned it was almost like you
7:20 need to address this now
7:22 before it kind of whirlwinds out of
7:24 control that's why you i don't know if
7:25 you know any of this history or not yeah
7:27 yeah
7:27 kind of whirlwind it out of control get
7:29 ahead of it walton roy flew over on
7:32 november 15th of 65
7:35 and so it wasn't really like something
7:36 that they planned on doing but if they
7:38 didn't
7:39 then the the rumor mill would have been
7:42 would have been started so that's why
7:43 they ended up doing this this is called
7:45 the cherry hotel or cherry tree
7:48 hotel and i've never been inside this
7:50 building
7:51 today i'm going to try to get inside and
7:53 see if i can find the room
7:55 where it
7:56 happened but it wasn't called the
7:58 florida product and do you know why it's
8:00 called walt disney world and not just
8:02 disney world uh to pay tribute to walt
8:05 to pay tribute to walt roy wanted his
8:08 brother to be honored because disneyland
8:10 in anaheim it's one word right there's
8:12 no walt in front of that yeah
8:15 so think about this if walt
8:17 had lived up until october of 71
8:20 it would just be disney world it
8:22 wouldn't be walt disney world
8:24 because he would have not wanted to have
8:26 that name before that only the last
8:28 night
8:30 things that make you
8:32 wonder
8:33 or make me wonder
8:35 okay i had to look it up it's called it
8:36 was called the cherry
8:39 hotel
8:41 and the entrance they pulled into up
8:42 here
8:43 see a vehicle
8:45 going by was where their car pulled up
8:48 the governor
8:49 walt and roy now walt himself even
8:52 stated that he was the one with the
8:53 ideas
8:54 but he would leave his brother
8:57 up to the money aspect and the building
8:59 aspect so in all reality
9:01 roy
9:03 built walt disney world
9:05 wall just had the ideas i believe there
9:07 was a banner going across here
9:11 going across here as well
9:13 and there's this big metal tree over
9:16 in the front section
9:27 i think it's just basically condos or
9:27 apartments there's also a stardust
9:29 lounge right here and a world of beer
9:34 so there is this door that we could try
9:35 to go in but i think the door they
9:37 walked in was around the front now i've
9:40 been here before years ago
9:42 and i believe this has been a couple
9:44 years ago i believe i mentioned they
9:45 walked in here and their car pulled up
9:47 but i was recently watching that news
9:49 footage
9:50 and i stand corrected they were around
9:52 the front end
9:54 over this way
9:56 but i like this that there's a tiki bar
9:58 here almost like traitor sam's
10:00 do you call this like a trader sam's
10:02 almost like of the future
10:04 and tomorrowland
10:10 this is some serious
10:10 disney history right here
10:13 see if it looks the same around here now
10:14 here's a photo of that banner going
10:16 across they have added on to the the
10:18 building itself they kind of made a like
10:20 a unique little
10:21 structure in front of it but the windows
10:24 and everything else match up the same
10:27 so there's the approximate angle you can
10:29 see this
10:30 now called the m maa park side
10:33 but that little distinct structure has
10:35 been built onto but the banner went
10:37 across there
10:42 the banner was way over here
10:42 and where they pulled up i am assuming
10:44 is right over there on that kind of on
10:46 that corner now this matches up a little
10:48 better over here on the street side you
10:50 got the cherry plaza sign there it's two
10:53 guys walking down the sidewalk the
10:54 shorter end of the building
10:56 and then there's also
10:58 those windows and where it says cherry
11:00 plaza
11:02 right there
11:04 and then the road that runs kind of
11:06 parallel is where
11:08 governor roy and walt hold up
11:10 right there looks a lot
11:12 different modern day they would have
11:14 pulled up right here the cherry plaza
11:16 sign
11:17 would have been right there
11:19 and the windows are still up there even
11:21 though they've kind of added this little
11:23 protrusion
11:24 onto it
11:26 but that's the angle of the two guys
11:27 walking in
11:28 and then to quite a bit of fanfare and
11:30 hoopla when
11:32 walton roy pulled up right here and in
11:34 some of the those videos and photos
11:36 there was a residence right here a house
11:38 over here of course
11:40 since 1965.
11:42 it's businesses now
11:43 no longer residents over on this side
11:46 they walked in this very door which is
11:49 now
11:50 the address 431a
11:56 walked right through here there's a
11:56 photo of walt walking through here the
11:58 camera's kind of going back this way all
12:00 right they were kind enough to let us
12:01 walk through here she said the
12:03 convention center area
12:05 is gone they have remodeled this whole
12:08 whole section
12:09 but right here yeah this is exactly
12:11 where they walk through
12:13 and we didn't even realize this but the
12:15 receptionist said oh there's a little a
12:18 little history shrine
12:20 she called it now brookie i'm going to
12:21 blow your
12:22 mind roy and walt walked right through
12:26 here with the governor
12:28 walking this way a lot right through
12:30 here oh right here yeah what the heck
12:33 i'm so glad we walked in here look at
12:35 this
12:38 hayden burns was the governor
12:40 fun fact if you look it's a pretty
12:42 amazing you know 45 minute press
12:44 conference i highly recommend watching
12:46 it the governor says oh by walt bringing
12:50 his parks here tourism is going to
12:53 double
12:54 he was a little awful
12:57 not only walt but of course who this
12:59 episode is about roy and here's what it
13:01 looked like
13:02 back then information on here and this
13:04 also states november 15th of 65
13:09 exactly 13 months
13:12 to the day
13:28 doubled the tourism in florida yeah and
13:28 then doubled it again and doubled it
13:29 again and doubled it again
13:31 this is incredible i'm glad i walked in
13:33 and asked because i didn't think that
13:34 they were going to have anything in here
13:36 documenting this this is a pretty good
13:38 book too i've always wanted to buy this
13:39 but
13:40 i never did this thing is massive
13:42 beautiful cover and here is opening day
13:45 which also opening day was on october
13:48 1st but look this photo is from the 15th
13:51 and
13:52 roy did not give his opening day speech
13:54 they almost had a three-week soft
13:57 opening of sorts roy did his speech i
14:00 believe on the 25th or 26th don't quote
14:02 me on that
14:03 but it was like three weeks later before
14:05 walt
14:07 did that open not walt but roy
14:09 did that opening speech i keep i keep
14:12 saying well i need to say roy
14:14 because walt was not there
14:20 only in spirit is that a disneyland
14:20 photo is that carthy circle over the top
14:22 of the train station i think that is
14:24 disneyland yeah
14:29 so they have a disneyland photo here it
14:30 happens
14:32 you know i've actually seen photos of
14:34 walt superimposed on main street
14:39 at magic kingdom oh really which is why
14:41 because he never made it i talked to a
14:42 cast member friend years ago
14:44 and even he had no idea that walt never
14:47 stepped foot in the magic kingdom only
14:50 ever disneyland
14:55 yeah this is cool
14:55 so walking right through i could
14:57 actually match a couple photos in here
14:58 this they were very nice of us let's
15:00 walk through here
15:01 okay there they are walking in governor
15:03 and walt
15:04 roy beside him
15:07 kind of giving a little smile there
15:09 there's roy over the governor's shoulder
15:12 and then
15:13 they end up walking down and into
15:17 kind of a very just not distinguished
15:19 but unique looking
15:21 door down at the end
15:23 right here and i think that might still
15:25 be there so just use your imagination
15:28 from 1965
15:30 then walking along here
15:33 continuing this way
15:39 and there are some elevators
15:39 i'm thinking maybe it continued on a
15:40 little bit this way though
15:42 maybe past this fake wall
15:44 past the elevators
15:46 you know they could have gone into an
15:48 elevator okay bricky and i are
15:49 discussing this and
15:51 he has the same opinion i do he thinks
15:53 that is an elevator they were going into
15:55 because you can still see that there's a
15:56 tile
15:57 the black concrete now which elevator
16:00 not really sure but
16:02 one of these elevators
16:04 and that letterbox probably was there
16:08 all right
16:09 awesome
16:10 i'm glad we asked and walked in here
16:18 you know to like
16:18 really enjoy history you always have to
16:20 put it in context that when they
16:22 announced this they didn't know it was
16:24 going to change the world no right like
16:26 they didn't know that walt wasn't going
16:28 to make it like you really have to put
16:29 in context of the moment of them trying
16:31 to get ahead of the story trying to you
16:34 know lead the narrative and not knowing
16:36 what was going to happen like that's the
16:37 best part they didn't know that they
16:39 were going to just change the face of
16:41 entertainment it was just the florida
16:43 project yeah they didn't even know that
16:44 they didn't have a name for it yet yeah
16:46 it's just that's the part you got to
16:47 keep in mind that we
16:54 the press conference was
16:54 six years before this photo was taken
16:56 yeah i mean
16:58 people would tell you that you were
16:59 crazy if you were to tell them that this
17:00 was what was going to happen in six
17:02 years
17:03 that just reaffirms the fact that it's
17:05 always good to go in and ask somewhere
17:08 because before i've been here before a
17:10 couple years ago and i just assumed that
17:13 it was the other entrance didn't even
17:15 walk in and ask
17:17 i've learned something new today i was
17:19 great she was so nice to to let us see
17:21 all of that that was awesome so from
17:23 here so just to kind of keep up with the
17:25 timeline
17:27 they made the announcement and then
17:29 before the park opened they came up with
17:31 the name
17:32 roy wanted it to be called walt disney
17:34 world and even though he had a lot of
17:36 pushback
17:37 from some of the other people in the
17:38 company he said no no no it will be
17:41 called walt disney world not disney
17:43 world and he said
17:45 stop talking about it that's how it's
17:46 going to be and other people wanted to
17:48 change
17:48 walt's vision he said
17:50 do exactly what walt told you to do
17:53 even though he has passed on
17:55 it's going to continue like he wanted it
17:57 and it did just something to some degree
18:00 it's a shame that uh
18:01 that that decision making wasn't there
18:03 for epcot
18:05 you know it would have been interesting
18:06 to see what would have became of epcot
18:07 if roy or wall could have had a creative
18:10 hand in it where that truck is pulling
18:11 up is where they got out roy and his
18:14 brother
18:21 and right over there is where it was
18:21 arrived here now at bay hill which i
18:23 believe is owned in some sort of
18:25 affiliation with arnold palmer in fact
18:27 there's a golf tournament
18:29 happening at the moment but there were
18:31 five little bungalows
18:34 that were here where
18:37 roy and his wife edna stayed as well as
18:40 joe fowler and the other two
18:44 other prominent names in the disney
18:45 organization
18:46 but this would be the road where it was
18:48 on so you got
18:50 one there
18:52 two here
18:54 three
18:55 four and five now i learned about this
18:58 place for my friend world of micah when
19:00 i was telling him what i was doing today
19:02 he said oh she'd go by roy's home where
19:04 roy and edna lived he has been here and
19:06 documented this before but i have never
19:08 shown this in any videos
19:10 so figure this is a good tie-in
19:13 now according to him he was doing some
19:15 research on it he says if this was roy
19:17 and edna's house
19:20 and they would have barbecues you can
19:21 even find this if you research it enough
19:22 they had barbecues
19:24 roy and edna
19:25 and joe fowler whose home was here
19:28 so joe fowler who
19:31 had a lot to do with disneyland and walt
19:33 disney world and
19:35 an homage to joe fowler there's fowler's
19:37 harbor at disneyland
19:39 and then the ferry boat that goes across
19:41 seven seas lagoon here at walt disney
19:43 world is the admiral joe fowler
19:47 that was joe fowler's house for a short
19:49 time
19:50 up until opening day in 71
19:52 and this here was roy and edna so you
19:54 you yourself
19:56 love joe fowler i do i mean he's one of
19:58 the most interesting characters in the
20:00 creation of disneyland retired naval man
20:03 and walt really needed a heavy you know
20:05 uh roy's doing finance walt's doing
20:08 visionary stuff and joe's going around
20:11 making sure things get done you got to
20:13 have somebody to push over the things
20:14 nobody wants to do
20:20 so this is like corporate housing more
20:20 or less like disney put them up right
20:22 put them in this little area so they'd
20:24 have a place to settle in while they're
20:26 working on this project roy would work
20:28 long hours come home to his wife edna at
20:31 they would have a little bbq in the yard
20:33 here talk about things
20:36 pretty neat so the two houses that are
20:38 so you got the one on the end it's the
20:39 second one from the end these two
20:42 fowler
20:43 and roy oh
20:45 and they're down on the end two other
20:47 disney folks i mean they're beautiful
20:49 homes and this is a really nice
20:51 neighborhood but you can definitely tell
20:53 that they were not expensive homes to
20:55 build right
20:56 cylinder blocks you can see all of the
20:58 coaxial and everything that's on the
21:01 outside of them they're all the exact
21:03 same build just mirrored and flipped
21:05 around and i forgot to mention when we
21:06 were over at lake eola by the way i said
21:09 we were going to go to the previous
21:10 center next this is kind of a quick
21:12 little stop off so we got detoured
21:14 on the way over but i forgot to mention
21:16 that at lake eola
21:19 at the hotel that was a conference
21:20 center where they did the florida
21:22 project announcement that was the only
21:25 walt did a public appearance anywhere in
21:29 orlando and central florida that's a
21:30 crazy fun fact that's pretty crazy
21:33 that's pretty wild to even think about
21:34 that wal only did he did there's walt's
21:37 playing where he fly from burbank yeah
21:39 supposedly that's going to be at d23
21:40 they are restoring it it was here they
21:42 moved it but it might be a d23 waltz
21:44 plane so he would do that but it was
21:46 never really documented and shown it was
21:48 always just
21:53 someone admiring roy's house driving by
21:53 or maybe just going to the golf
21:54 tournament there's a golf tournament
21:55 happening right now too so history
21:58 made in orlando with the documentation
22:00 of the florida project announcement
22:04 while it's passing boyd came out of
22:05 retirement
22:07 and basically there was a three-week
22:09 soft opening
22:11 of magic kingdom walt disney world
22:13 roy did the announcement on the 26th
22:15 27th and then i think it was nbc don't
22:18 quote me on that did a special
22:20 and roy and his wife watch the tv
22:23 special
22:24 right inside this very bungalow
22:28 and it was said also side note when roy
22:31 gave the opening speech you'll notice
22:33 that mickey
22:34 came out and was standing next to roy
22:36 that was unplanned oh really i was hurt
22:39 i've always heard rumors that that was
22:40 completely unplanned
22:42 mickey walked over and you always think
22:44 why is mickey kind of awkwardly standing
22:46 there yeah because roy did not want to
22:48 walk out to the podium he's having such
22:50 a hard time with the memory of himself
22:52 yeah so so mickey
22:54 helped roy walk out but afterwards
22:57 roy after he gave that speech went out
22:59 into the seven seas lagoon on a boat
23:02 and didn't want to even be in the park
23:04 because he wanted to give
23:05 all the honor to his brother walt
23:08 which the park is named after
23:10 but i mentioned that to also mention
23:12 that
23:13 either on the 29th
23:15 of october or or the 30th of october of
23:18 71
23:19 that tv special of the opening of walt
23:22 disney world which kind of opened up a
23:23 whole can of worms and the popularity
23:26 of central florida started then roy and
23:28 his wife watched the tv special in here
23:30 and roy cried
23:33 watching the tv
23:35 a lot of tears were shed for his brother
23:37 inside all that's been documented and
23:39 this was the bungalow that happened
23:52 all right and with that solemn note
23:52 i'm going to go over the preview center
23:54 this is amazing man
23:56 this is just amazing
23:58 makes you think just anything that makes
24:00 them makes it real makes them real
24:02 people and you know like often i just
24:04 forget that they're brothers sometimes
24:06 because you know they had such a
24:07 business relationship and then you think
24:09 about it like they were brothers and
24:10 just the amount of respect that roy had
24:12 for his little brother and you know roy
24:14 had the worst job i mean walt would
24:17 dream it and then roy had to go find
24:18 money for it like not the fun job at all
24:21 and here's another interesting fact
24:24 shortly after the opening speech
24:27 shedding tears for his brother the
24:29 memory of his brother not retiring
24:31 which probably affected his health
24:33 dramatically a couple months later
24:36 roy passed on yeah
24:38 so it's almost like
24:39 i finished my i've
24:42 finished my my accomplishment
24:45 my brother has been honored the park has
24:47 opened
24:48 his vision was fulfilled
24:54 all right moving on the previous center
24:54 and now made it just on the outskirts of
24:57 disney springs
24:58 hotel plaza boulevard
25:01 the amateur athletic union
25:04 which has that retro vibe
25:07 before magic kingdom opened his doors
25:10 this was the only
25:12 building that a guest could go in
25:15 on property the first major building
25:17 built on property a couple other smaller
25:19 buildings
25:21 but as far as being one that you could
25:23 visit this was the very first one and it
25:25 still stands
25:26 all these years later here on hotel
25:28 plaza boulevard
25:33 got to walk over there match up a few
25:33 photos i found
25:36 you getting the retro vibes
25:38 this is great i mean you can tell that
25:40 it's from the time period but also not a
25:43 very expensive build out you know you
25:45 could like just look at the building and
25:46 tell exactly what it was intended to do
25:49 awareness and sell some tickets
25:51 and they did sell a lot of tickets
25:53 like an exorbitant amount
25:56 not for opening day but for just for the
25:58 few first few years the wd dw would be
26:02 open
26:02 i had trouble saying that wdw i always
26:05 say that was short for walt disney world
26:08 they also had a gift shop so you could
26:10 this was the first gift shop
26:13 on walt disney world property as well
26:15 and they had a film that they would show
26:18 a preview
26:20 if you will of what was things to come
26:21 for the florida project
26:23 and magic eventual magic kingdom
26:27 and then have cast members and
26:28 characters here
26:29 quite an assortment online of vintage
26:32 photographs and videos
26:34 take a look at this
26:36 preview center
26:38 shown right there that's the angle more
26:40 or less kind of
26:42 kind of from that a little bit closer up
26:44 those are walking up the second set of
26:45 stairs to go in
26:48 take a look at this one it almost looks
26:49 like an oversized bonsai tree
26:53 in the front
26:55 kind of from this angle
27:03 that tree's been removed and the sign
27:03 up front also removed
27:10 i believe there was a gazebo
27:10 over by the water over there back then
27:12 in those days as well
27:14 some of the original cast members
27:17 standing in front of the building as
27:18 well very unique architecture
27:22 distinctive and here's a photo of the
27:24 construction they haven't even paved the
27:25 roads around the side the parking areas
27:28 the road in the front is paved and you
27:30 can see some classic car alerts there
27:34 take a look at some of those vintage
27:35 vehicles this is kind of an aerial
27:37 perspective
27:39 and then the hotel boulevard down below
27:41 and take a look at pluto and goofy here
27:45 pluto is waving
27:47 actually right where my shadow is
27:49 my phone away that's where pluto was
27:52 standing
27:58 you were just telling me something so
27:58 repeat what you were just saying just
28:00 seeing that it's amazing that it looks
28:01 like an administrative building right
28:03 like if you saw this downtown this would
28:05 be the library or the dmv and it just
28:07 goes to show that they've always thought
28:09 about it as a small city this doesn't
28:11 look like anything that says theme park
28:13 whatsoever nothing here says theme park
28:21 and really nothing in the parks modern
28:21 day or even back then really looks like
28:23 this no
28:29 it literally just looks like what it was
28:29 supposed to be a welcome center
28:32 the sign was right there the welcome
28:33 sign was right there yeah
28:36 i've never been in this building we had
28:38 pretty good luck
28:39 at where the florida project
28:40 announcement was but right there's a lot
28:42 of photos online too of
28:44 cast members and
28:46 you know what would eventually be guests
28:47 taking the picture in front of the the
28:49 sign here
28:54 yeah i love this frank lloyd wright
28:54 style stacking of the different layers
28:58 yeah oh so it's been a while that's
29:01 great
29:02 was allowed inside for a moment was
29:04 talking to talking to the receptionist
29:05 she said it was all remodeled
29:07 you could definitely tell i got a quick
29:09 little look down the hallway it doesn't
29:10 look the same as this anymore but you
29:12 can see the windows
29:14 even from this inside
29:15 perspective the windows even looking
29:17 from outside
29:19 still look the same and he kind of had a
29:21 walkway
29:22 so if we were inside there was a walkway
29:25 that went this way that had a bunch of
29:27 kind of images of
29:28 things to come
29:30 at disney world walt disney world
29:33 all through there
29:35 now it's mostly just offices and whatnot
29:36 inside
29:37 there used to be topiaries
29:40 out here as well topiar's all around
29:43 the side
29:49 and there's the lake over there where
29:49 the gazebo was
29:56 if you were to put this building
29:56 anywhere
29:58 world showcase would be the area where
30:00 the future world future world is getting
30:02 epcot vibe it has that vibe it's that
30:04 same era the stacking design the
30:06 elongated the the levels of concrete and
30:09 using the landscaping like frank lloyd
30:11 wright did to separate space it's that's
30:13 the vibe
30:15 trying to figure out where those
30:16 topiaries exactly were i think maybe
30:18 around the other side the topi areas
30:20 look like they were in almost a little
30:22 planet so they weren't they weren't in
30:23 the ground
30:25 but the area the topi areas were
30:27 right over along this section somewhere
30:30 in this region
30:43 and here's a copy of the pamphlet now
30:43 disney at disney springs you can
30:44 purchase some of this retro merch they
30:46 have brought this this is the original
30:47 logo
30:48 but they have brought it back
30:50 and this was the entire pamphlet kind of
30:52 explained what was going to be happening
30:54 was open daily from nine to five
30:57 a motion picture describing the vacation
31:00 kingdom of the world
31:02 that's what they were calling it
31:04 featuring models construction
31:05 photographs artists renderings
31:07 the exciting walt disney world preview
31:10 center is now open open every day 15
31:12 miles southwest
31:14 of orlando florida
31:21 some serious history right here i'm glad
31:21 the building still stands
31:23 and according to this the scale model
31:24 was 600 square feet
31:27 that's a big model
31:29 600 square feet wow
31:33 and even more photos inside cast member
31:36 showing off
31:37 jose a photo on the wall there of the
31:39 contemporary
31:40 and then this is a picture
31:43 it's a three cowboy arrows in mickey oh
31:46 that's like maestro mickey right there
31:49 in the middle all right
31:51 that's going to do it for today
31:54 brickie adventures in design
31:57 do you want to give away how long you're
31:58 here for are you keeping it spoiler free
32:00 oh i'm here for a week baby you're here
32:02 for a week five days in the park three
32:04 days in the star wars hotel i'm i'm
32:06 chasing it you're doing the star wars
32:07 hotel yeah
32:09 well then you kind of started off with a
32:11 little
32:12 little history little pre-history of the
32:14 parks and now you're gonna go right into
32:16 the parks can i tell people what i've
32:18 been calling today yeah i've been
32:20 calling this the fifth gate tour by adam
32:22 the woo because it's literally been a
32:25 full afternoon of fun disney stuff and
32:27 for somebody who loves the vibes and the
32:29 design that's all this has been no
32:31 lightning no genie plus no waiting in
32:33 line just all vibes
32:38 what's the statement you always say
32:38 you're a vibe crusher not a ride crusher
32:41 i'm a vibe chaser a vibe chaser yeah not
32:44 a ride crusher he's a vibe chaser not a
32:47 ride crusher just the five
32:49 i like i kind of both i'm probably 75
32:53 vibe 25 rides that's a good mix it's a
32:55 hell it's good can you go on any rides
32:58 yeah i'm like a 90 10.
33:00 okay two percent of the time i'm like
33:02 all right but i like to ride it with
33:03 other people which is essentially
33:04 catching their vibe
33:15 i'm not short i'm not sure the last time
33:16 i was in the video with adam ever was
33:17 like how tall is this guy i'm not sure
33:19 side by side side by side just a couple
33:22 inches on me but adam has this move
33:24 adam has this move where he makes
33:25 everybody look like you're in that room
33:27 here you go grab the camera
33:29 grab the camera there we go see
33:32 see i'm not a short guy
33:34 511 just adam's very tall
33:43 i'll see you in the next video the vlog
33:43 is over
