My Last Day In Mexico - Hotel Room Tour & Visiting Templo Mayor Ruins / Flying Back To USA On Delta
Last Day In Mexico City
Transcript
0:03
Welcome everyone. Adam Lewoo here as the
0:03
recording of this Wednesday, May 14th,
0:06
2025, also known as my last
0:09
day here in Mexico, Mexico City. I will
0:13
be departing you later this afternoon
0:16
and heading to LAX for an undisclosed
0:19
amount of time. Well, I'll be
0:20
undisclosed amount of time in SoCal, but
0:23
I have a few hours to stroll around,
0:26
head down to the Zoka, maybe get a
0:28
couple last minute souvenirs, give a
0:30
room tour, show the hotel I'm staying
0:32
at, and just peruse around Mexico City
0:36
before I need to get my luggage and make
0:39
my way to the airport to head back to
0:42
the US of A. I'm inviting you to join me
0:44
throughout the course of the
0:46
day, shall you? Bag's all packed up,
0:49
ready to rock. So when I get back, I can
0:51
just grab them, grab a ride share, head
0:54
to the airport. But I do have some time,
0:56
a few hours. The head of the bed there,
0:58
you got a little piece of
1:01
artwork or a photograph I should
1:05
say of the art museum down the way. I've
1:08
showed that a couple times over the
1:11
course of this trip. About a week, give
1:13
or take a day I've been here. I'm on a
1:16
very touristy kind of spot. So, got the
1:19
mirror over there, a little desk, a TV
1:21
that I never turned on. This is a very
1:23
busy touristy strip down here. Right
1:27
now, not so much cuz it's kind of a
1:28
little earlier. There's also a Croc
1:30
store. On travel days, whenever I fly, I
1:33
always wear Crocs and not tennis shoes
1:34
cuz they're easy to slip on and off.
1:36
Maybe I can get a little little jibbit,
1:38
a little character for, you know, here
1:41
in Mexico City to go on my Crocs before
1:43
I before I depart.
1:45
But this is the this is the road I was
1:47
staying on. It is not open to traffic,
1:49
even though sometimes you'll see like a
1:51
motorcycle or something drive down it or
1:53
a scooter, but it's mostly just for just
1:56
for people walking. Pretty nice shower,
1:58
a little sink, commode, all that. Now,
2:01
keep in mind, I have been here. This is
2:03
not freshly checked in by any means, but
2:06
there's the shower, there's the sink,
2:08
there's the there's the toilet. You have
2:10
this little door here that kind of pulls
2:13
out. A little step up just so that you
2:15
know you don't trip here on
2:17
the on that angle. Yeah, I really like
2:20
this room. It got a little noisy
2:22
especially over the last weekend.
2:24
Weekday days not so bad, but during the
2:26
weekends that road down there is an
2:28
incredible beehive of activity. Buskers,
2:30
street performers, musicians. So, it got
2:33
pretty loud until like 1 1:00 a.m. every
2:36
night. But it was
2:38
okay. I managed. the name of the
2:40
accommodations right there. The hotel
2:42
Ritz looks like established in
2:45
1930. And yeah, it's a little it's in
2:48
the historic central district which is
2:51
over near the Zokula. And my room was
2:54
down on the end. I love when you walk to
2:56
the elevator, you got a lot of these
2:57
historical photos that I passed every
3:00
day when I was here. This was back from
3:02
1910. The cathedral right there, 1920, I
3:05
believe that is this area here.
3:09
is the
3:10
Zoka. I mean, I'm saying that not as the
3:13
cathedral. I believe it's the entirety
3:15
of the neighborhood or the the vicinity,
3:18
I should say. Look at this street
3:20
car. 1920 there. Like this angle here,
3:24
this little open air veranda, the
3:32
lai. And you have the Tino Americana
3:32
skyscraper there that I went up on the
3:34
other day. You got this little painting
3:36
of a
3:39
bird. Then you got some beautiful tile
3:41
work here looking
3:44
downward. Yeah, I did a lot while I was
3:47
here. Really happy with my
3:49
trip. Like another country off my
3:52
list. Doing a country every month this
3:55
year and possibly into next year too.
3:56
Just got to keep traveling. But also
3:59
trying to mix in other things in the
4:00
states that I enjoy doing. Trying to
4:02
have a nice balance, a nice mix. I feel
4:04
like I'm really giving give myself a
4:06
good mix of US and international stuff
4:08
this year. Down a few floors to the
4:10
lobby. Lobby's technically on the second
4:13
floor. Kind of overlooking the area here
4:15
down this
4:27
road. Hotel Ritz right there.
4:27
Established
4:29
1930. Again, showing some of that. I
4:31
really like staying here.
4:34
The only thing I would say that would be
4:37
the only thing I could think of would
4:39
just be how noisy it is on that street
4:41
on the weekends till really late. But
4:43
other than that, really nice
4:45
accommodations. There it is back in the
4:47
day. There's the sign, Hotel Rit
4:50
sign. Yeah, nice nice little spot. This
4:54
is the lobby, check-in lobby on the
4:57
second
4:58
floor. You have to take two series of
5:00
elevators. one from the ground floor up
5:04
to the lobby and then another elevator
5:05
up to your rooms and then you walk down
5:08
these stairs to go
5:14
outside. All right, the Croc store. They
5:14
had some some little jibbits that were
5:17
specifically for Mexico, but they were
5:19
in like a pack of eight. I didn't want
5:20
to get like a pack of eight. They didn't
5:21
sell them singularly, so no luck on that
5:24
one. Nice little stroll. It's kind of
5:25
warm today. The temperature has been a
5:27
little different each day and it's
5:29
different different times of the day.
5:31
Like definitely when the sun goes down
5:32
it gets a lot cooler than it is during
5:35
the day which sounds ridiculous when I
5:36
say that out loud because that just
5:39
makes common sense but in Florida at
5:41
certain times it's like it's hot all the
5:43
time even when the sun goes down but
5:44
here I just kind of noticed once the sun
5:46
goes down the temperature drops
5:49
considerably. Saying that out loud
5:51
sounds sounds pretty ignorant. I don't
5:52
know. The sun just feels way hotter
5:55
here. It's only 79°, but it feels way
5:58
warmer than that. No clouds in the sky.
6:00
Maybe it's cuz it's extremely more south
6:02
of what I'm normally used to. Maybe it's
6:05
because it's a 7,000 ft elevation and
6:08
you're closer to the sun. Again, I'm not
6:12
I'm not an expert on meteorology. In
6:14
fact, I'm not even a novice. In fact,
6:16
I'm not I'm nothing about meteorology,
6:18
but that's Yeah, it's it the sun feels
6:20
hotter here than other places. Kind of
6:22
feels like Ecuador hot. Not as hot as
6:25
Ecuador. Hot, but hot.
6:28
Yeah, that has been your don't listen to
6:31
me about information when it comes to
6:33
weather report. Just going off of
6:36
personal feelings on the tip on the how
6:38
it
6:47
feels. Check out the street vendors one
6:47
last
6:48
time. Again, it's a Wednesday right now,
6:51
so but this is like something you'd see
6:52
in the States on a weekend, but they had
6:54
this every single day. Every day. No
6:56
food needed today. No street vendor
6:58
snacks. I ate plenty of tacos yesterday.
7:02
What's that noise? There are some ruins
7:04
back over here that I didn't get to
7:05
check out. I think I'm going to walk
7:06
over there and check out the Oh, it's a
7:08
So, there's that low hanging wire. Check
7:10
out some ruins that are back over here
7:11
through the street vendors. Yeah, take a
7:13
look at this. I think there's a way to
7:14
get down there,
7:16
but kind of leaning over this little
7:18
plexi here. There's like a carving of
7:21
like a snake right
7:24
here. These old the base of these old
7:28
ruins.
7:30
Massive massive chunk, massive footprint
7:38
here. It's on the back side of that
7:38
cathedral there where all the vendors
7:39
are. I really like about Mexico City is
7:43
you see these signs that say WC right up
7:45
there, that banner, that means
7:47
restrooms. Those are bananos.
7:49
and you pay 10 pesos which is just a
7:51
coin and you have
7:55
access to the
7:57
restroom unlike some big cities that you
7:59
cannot find a restroom you know
8:03
ever Los Angeles being a perfect example
8:06
unless you go in a place like a sit down
8:09
restaurant or something unless you even
8:11
go in like you know quick service places
8:13
and they won't have restrooms but here
8:15
these are on like every couple blocks
8:17
you just pay the coin and you have
8:19
restrooms everywhere. I wish more places
8:21
would just do that. It's a good idea. It
8:24
really is. And street vendors, anything
8:26
you want, you can get. It's every
8:28
everything's out. Everything's here.
8:30
Just right on the streets. Every block,
8:31
street
8:32
vendors. It's going to be weird to leave
8:34
here and go to places that don't have
8:36
street vendors cuz I'm so used to them
8:38
this this whole time I've been here.
8:39
Holy
8:40
cow, look at this road.
8:43
Speaking of street vendors, this is next
8:47
level through here. This is is
8:50
incredibly hectic through here. This is
8:53
This is hectic to the 10th
8:58
degree. This is something. And you got
9:00
cars driving through
9:02
here. Bikes, vendors selling things. I
9:07
don't know where the entrance to the
9:08
museum is or the thing. I'm thinking
9:10
maybe like right over there possibly.
9:12
Maybe over here.
9:15
People are yelling at me trying to cross
9:17
the road.
9:20
Oh, this guy is yelling at me. Head
9:26
across. I don't know where the entrance
9:26
to this museum is or the the ruins. I
9:28
don't know how to get in there. I think
9:29
I need to go back the other way. See if
9:31
this is possibly the way way to get to
9:34
it cuz it definitely was not the way I
9:36
was just going in. Not that way. Hey,
9:39
how the heck do you get in here? I was
9:41
over there. That road was
9:44
wild. How do you get in here? I love all
9:48
the carvings,
9:49
though. Got the carvings there. Carvings
9:53
down here as
10:01
well. I made it in. Found the entrance.
10:02
I didn't have to walk all the way around
10:04
where I did. So, backward almost where I
10:06
started. 100 pesos to get in here. Not a
10:09
bad deal. for a little history. Got the
10:12
different phases. This is phase
10:14
three. Temple of Mayo. El
10:18
Tempmplo Mayo.
10:32
They have this water drainage system
10:32
that they set up as shown
10:36
here. That'll take the water, take you
10:38
out of the temple area and down this
10:41
little this little section here of
10:52
brick. This is amazing. This wasn't far
10:52
from my hotel, and I had seen it from a
10:54
distance, but I didn't really get as
10:55
close as I did when I was walking by
10:58
there a moment ago over going to other
10:59
neighborhood. I didn't realize how
11:02
expansive this is and how wonderful this
11:05
is or how much is in
11:19
here. This is phase two. So, looks as if
11:19
this was, you know, the original, well,
11:21
the second iteration of it. And then
11:24
going back behind where I'm at, they
11:26
created the other phases, the phase
11:28
three and the phase four. these carvings
11:31
though. Look at
11:32
this. Look at that relic right
11:41
there. And a really nice view of that
11:41
cathedral there. As I climb up these
11:42
stairs. Yeah. You get up here, you get a
11:46
really good
11:47
view of the cathedral
11:49
there. Look at
11:52
that. That may or may not be the
11:54
thumbnail right
11:56
there. It may or may not be. There it
11:59
is.
12:01
Magnificent Mexico
12:08
City, my sixth country this year. I did
12:08
two in January and I've done one every
12:11
month since the since then. Stay in that
12:14
course for one one a
12:16
month. And as time goes on, I might do
12:19
two a month, but for now, one a month.
12:20
Here we go. Little shave through here.
12:24
Can also hear some church
12:25
bells or a clock tower in the distance.
12:30
See, they're doing a little work down
12:31
here as well.
12:58
That over there is a
12:58
wall of skull
13:01
carvings. Take a look at that.
13:53
Great temple. That's what El Templo
13:53
Mayor means or the
13:56
translation. And the Metropolitan
13:58
Cathedral, which is the one that was
13:59
just ringing those
14:02
bells. And the bells have rang. And
14:06
now the chimes. The chimes.
14:20
Manuel
14:20
Gamo. Manuel Gamo.
14:55
All right, stepping inside a little
14:56
museum here also on
14:59
property.
15:09
Here's a little closer view of the the
15:09
skull wall. Guy's getting some photos.
15:12
Taking it very
16:04
It's like they're 11 high if I'm
16:04
counting
16:05
correct. 11
16:47
I could use a water, however. Starting
16:47
to get a little
16:48
thirsty. Definitely that sun coming
16:50
down. Definitely got to stay hydrated.
17:10
Instead of getting water, I went with
17:10
Gatorade. Gatorade with electrolytes.
17:13
Gatorade. Yeah. Need some uh need some
17:15
hydration. It's
17:24
hot. I don't believe I've been in this
17:24
cathedral yet. This is right next to my
17:26
hotel.
17:34
Love all the carvings. You can see how
17:37
they put like mesh around a lot of them
17:40
to keep from, you know, any of the
17:41
debris that's chipped off over the years
17:44
from falling on anyone walking by. That
17:47
is no exception there with the with the
17:49
mesh
17:55
carving. Right. Start heading to the
17:55
hotel now, relax for a little bit, then
17:57
get my bags together and start making my
18:00
way towards the airport. It's also so
18:02
interesting to not have any idea about
18:05
an area or a place or a section you're
18:08
going to be staying in. When you stay
18:10
somewhere for, you know, more or less a
18:12
week, start to get very familiar with
18:14
your surroundings and a neighborhood.
18:17
And I'll always remember this street
18:18
right here and the hotel I'm at here in
18:21
Mexico City with the view of the
18:23
skyscraper there. There, the Latino
18:25
Americana. The hotel's right up here on
18:27
the right. The Hotel Ritz. In fact, you
18:30
can see see the flag right there that
18:32
says Hotel Ritz. Back to the room. Grab
18:34
my bags and start heading to the
18:37
airport. I just checked out and now
18:40
heading out of Hotel Ritz down to street
18:44
level. Grab a ride share. Let's go over
18:47
to the airport. Just ordered one. Should
18:48
be here
18:51
momentarily. 130 pesos will be the
18:53
commute time. Well, price-wise, not
18:56
commute time. It'll probably take 20
18:58
minutes. Pick up in 1 minute. Waiting
19:01
here on the on the corner. I think this
19:04
might be him right here in the blue car.
19:06
Yep. Right there. That's That's
19:13
fine. All right. Made it over the drop
19:15
off point. Yeah, it was a hectic mess
19:18
traffic-wise. Even the first probably
19:21
two miles leading up to the airport and
19:24
then leading over to kind of bottleneck
19:26
traffic-wise to get over to this drop
19:28
off
19:29
point. I made it a lot of traffic here
19:32
in Mexico City. I flew Arrow Mexico from
19:36
LA to here.
19:38
Oh, it's okay. But I believe I'm taking
19:41
Delta back.
19:43
both booked through through Delta, but I
19:46
believe I'm actually going to be on a
19:47
Delta airliner back to LA, but I won't
19:50
know until I till I get to the gate.
19:51
That was an incredibly simple security
19:55
checkpoint. The grand total of about 3
19:57
minutes to get through that chance for
19:58
souvenirs before departing. Some
20:00
sombrero here. Just a little aster next
20:03
to the on time. Technically, it was
20:05
delayed 10 minutes, but nothing
20:07
dramatic. 10-minute delay, which is just
20:09
probably just a just a little hiccup in
20:11
the flight.
20:25
What are these little donuts are on the
20:25
shelf almost like a with the M&M's? I
20:28
don't know if I've ever seen that. Like
20:29
donuts in a bag like that next to like
20:31
the
20:33
lifesavers,
20:34
right? An interesting waiting area. Got
20:38
little circles there on the roof and
20:40
over on the walls. 58 is the one I'm
20:43
looking
20:44
for there. This definitely is not open
20:47
air, but it looks like it could be open
20:49
air with the little
20:51
circles. All right, as I was scanning
20:53
in, they let me know. Make sure there
20:56
are no spices or powders. No spices or
20:59
powders allowed on the plane. Do I have
21:01
any spices or powders? Is that
21:04
nope? No spices or
21:07
powders. Sitting in seat 5D.
21:14
Got my
21:14
headphones
21:20
on. Still got the cap
21:20
on. This cap is making it out of
21:23
Mexico. Didn't think it would, but it
21:27
is. This cap is making it out of Mexico.
21:31
Don't know how much long after that
21:32
it'll make it make it, but it's not the
21:34
best hat. It's almost like cardboard. It
21:36
looks way better than it actually feels.
21:39
It's not uncomfortable. But if you grab
21:41
it and kind of pop it, it's like
21:43
cardboard. It's like a cardboard house.
21:45
It's like a $8 hat.
21:56
Guess right. That was the right blind.
22:10
Yep. It's Delta, not Arrow Mexico. Even
22:10
though I'm flying out of Mexico,
22:11
please the seat in front of you if you
22:14
have
26:12
It's been our pleasure to have you on
26:12
board
26:14
tonight. Please ensure your seat belt is
26:17
fast. If you're seen back
26:18
entrance and not position all in resting
26:23
position has a video that is
26:32
from lo
26:32
devices in the back of the seat in front
26:35
of you. There may not
26:37
be you may
29:13
show my passport and go through the
29:13
whole process of customs and border
29:16
protection. Los Angeles International
29:18
Airport. Tom Bradley, International
29:21
Terminal. Welcome to the United
29:29
States. Please have your documents
29:29
completed and ready. Present to officer.
29:30
I can't film in here though,
29:32
so see you after.
29:42
took a grand total of about 8 to 12
29:42
seconds. There was no one in line for
29:46
customs and it's all facial recognition.
29:49
I didn't even have to show my passport.
29:51
Facial recognition. I got the green
29:52
check. The guy goes, "You're good to
29:54
go." That was it. Holy cow. That was
29:56
amazingly smooth and fast. I was
29:58
expecting way worse here at LAX. That
30:01
was 10 seconds tops. Oo, I can already
30:04
tell it is a weather is a little less
30:08
humid
30:15
here. So, I need to grab an Uber to
30:15
where I'm going, but I got to take a
30:17
shuttle to get over to the Uber area.
30:19
Used to be at LAX. All the ride shares,
30:23
Lift, pickup, Uber,
30:26
etc. You can pick them up from right
30:28
here, but that's no longer an option.
30:32
They don't they don't pick up in the
30:33
horseshoe anymore. That's what I call
30:36
this area of LAX, the horseshoe. It's
30:39
like LAX is like a big horseshoe the way
30:40
the road the road goes around. However,
30:43
I am not the only one
30:45
waiting this
30:51
area. It's going to be a full bus if
30:52
there's any way I'm going to get on this
30:54
one to be completely honest.
31:17
turn. I made it on. Cra, but I made it
31:18
on.
31:26
kind of like the whole process of
31:26
traveling, all the
31:28
different things you have to do to get
31:31
where you're going. There's something
31:33
about it
31:35
is I don't know, something about it. I
31:37
like it. Sometimes it's very stressful,
31:47
but it's a multi-step process.
31:47
Getting a ride share to an airport.
31:49
about checking out of a hotel, getting a
31:51
ride share to an airport, going through
31:54
checkpoints, getting on a plane,
31:58
landing, getting off, getting on a
32:00
shuttle, getting over to a completely
32:02
different
32:04
property to grab an Uber to get to your
32:10
The fact that you can be in one country
32:12
in the morning and then another
32:14
country later at night before the sun
32:17
goes
32:19
down. It's fascinating. Air travel
32:23
really is
32:25
something. All right, made it over to
32:27
the taxi lift Uber
32:31
area. Sun will be setting soon. Look at
32:34
how many stickers are over here. Look at
32:37
this. This is like a st stick sticker
32:40
slapped section right
32:51
here all the way up the pole
32:51
also. I mean that is next level of
32:54
sticker slappage.
33:23
on the polls
33:23
here. I guess they don't care that
33:25
people are slapping
33:27
stickers. So, really, it's not that far
33:29
off property. I guess it's probably
33:30
still technically LAX cuz But it's like
33:33
a 10-minute 10-minute ride, even though
33:36
you can see it from here cuz it's just
33:38
slow going. But yeah. All right. I've
33:41
ordered an Uber over here at
33:44
22A. I'm going to head to my hotel.
33:47
That's going to do it for today. Thanks
33:48
for watching. I'll see you in the next
33:49
video, the vlog.
33:51
I'm back in the States. I'm in LA. The
33:53
vlog is over. I felt inclined. I I don't
33:58
usually do
33:59
this, but considering that there's like
34:02
8,000
34:03
others. Bonus
34:05
footage. 22A. Zone 22A right over here
34:09
next to this pole. Right next to this
34:13
very interesting patch on the
34:15
ground. Zone 22A. The Uber pickup.
