0:02 look at those clouds engulfing the
0:02 former Sears Tower it's called something
0:04 else now but most people including me
0:07 refer to it as the Sears Tower it's a
0:10 very overcast windy day here in Chicago
0:14 and I think it's rather cool out there
0:17 which is a good thing because I wished
0:20 for non hot weather when I left Florida
0:23 and it looks like by the sky I'm going
0:27 to get my request welcome everyone Adam
0:30 the woo here I was right Gusty windy and
0:32 cold and I am drinking piping hot coffee
0:36 out of a not a styrofoam container but
0:40 two plastic cups cuz that's all I had to
0:43 work with it's my second channel daily
0:45 Vlog Channel feel that breeze it's the
0:48 daily room right here along the sidewalk
0:50 I don't want to get too close because it
0:51 is of the adult nature is a DVD of the
0:56 porno Persuasion don't know why it's
0:58 there but it is
1:00 just chilling there on the streets of
1:02 Chicago lot too said time come pass
1:04 sometime I just pull over on drive and
1:06 just catch a lot of good pictures you
1:07 know I give me a big frame and
1:20 I'm going to dive into a couple of the
1:20 darker spots of history in Chicago today
1:23 July 22nd 1934 just 2 months after the
1:27 death of Bonnie and Clyde another
1:30 Infamous criminal was shot right here in
1:34 front of this theater around 10:40 p.m.
1:38 a movie let out by the name of Manhattan
1:41 melodrama starring Clark Gable and one
1:44 of the patrons that were watching the
1:47 film was a man by the name of John
1:50 Dillinger as he exited the movie he
1:53 noticed that there were agents waiting
1:56 for him out front so he turned to the
1:58 left and headed towards that
2:02 alley and these would be the final
2:04 seconds the famed bank robber would
2:07 spend alive as he turned the corner into
2:10 the alley he was awaited by more
2:13 officers he then backed up and according
2:16 to photos he was shot and killed in this
2:22 exact
2:23 spot right there now this building and
2:26 this building are the same this corner
2:29 lot has been torn down and now there is
2:31 a pizza place that stands there and this
2:34 building as well is different but the
2:37 alley itself is almost identical as it
2:40 was when the moment happened there have
2:43 been lots of different opinions over the
2:45 years about where the exact
2:48 spot he was shot in the alley was now I
2:51 can't say for certain because I was not
2:53 here but I have used my Columbo like
2:55 research skills and will give you my
2:58 opinion by the way there's a sign in
3:01 front of the
3:02 theater telling people no guns remember
3:06 how I was saying that this building is
3:08 not original well I also think that
3:11 there used to be red brick right down
3:13 here and I also believe this manhole
3:15 cover has been placed there since the
3:18 1930s and what is going to give away
3:20 this spot is going to be this pole
3:25 and this pole by looking at those two
3:28 poles and matching the photo up you can
3:31 see the poles are there in
3:34 1934 and remember what I was saying
3:37 about the brick it is now concrete
3:39 leading into the alley and people were
3:41 all standing around to get a look at the
3:45 blood of John Dillinger
3:49 right
3:57 there some sort of mural here depicting
3:57 The Wizard of
3:58 Oz and look across the
4:01 street it's the Tin
4:03 Man what the heck is he doing here now
4:06 this is freaking
4:09 awesome the Tin Man from The Wizard of
4:11 Oz I spilled some coffee on my shirt out
4:13 of the excitement that the fact that the
4:16 Scarecrow is over my shoulder Cowardly
4:19 Lion this car is awesome I have an
4:22 affinity for old station wagons I wonder
4:25 if a bunch of punks live down this
4:28 road or Mr T that's a very colorful
4:32 grocery store it's called Carnival
4:33 grocery I love the architecture here
4:35 it's a pretty amazing
4:57 City on February 14th 1929 seven men
4:57 were killed by Al Capone's gang
5:00 right down there and that date might
5:01 sound familiar it has earned its place
5:04 in history as the Valentine's Day
5:07 Massacre it happened right across the
5:09 street in a warehouse space that has
5:11 since been torn down but the crazy thing
5:15 is this building right next to it looks
5:19 exactly the same as it did when it
5:23 happened pretty crazy to think that it
5:25 happened right over there members of Al
5:28 Capone's gang took seven men right in
5:31 the building that sat right here inside
5:34 lined them against that wall
5:36 impersonating police officers and
5:38 instead of frisking them murdered them
5:42 with Tommy
5:54 Guns wow it's hard even to imagine that
5:54 right right there Casey nice
5:58 stat on November 10th 1924 right in this
6:02 empty parking lot another gangster
6:05 murder happened look at all these birds
6:08 even little baby
6:10 birds Hitchcock would be proud right in
6:14 this empty lot used to be a flower shop
6:16 owned by Dean oion who went simply by
6:21 obanion and Not only was he killed right
6:23 here the building has been bulldozed but
6:26 two other men were also slain and three
6:30 men were seriously injured on the steps
6:33 of this Cathedral the shooters were up
6:35 on a top floor window over here and
6:37 there are some news clippings and photos
6:40 of one of the bodies laying right down
6:42 here it is my belief the stairs that I
6:44 am standing on have been erected since
6:47 that event because check out this photo
6:50 the railing still looks the same and
6:52 right down there is where one of the men
6:54 laid and the police are around him and
6:56 check this out to the right of the front
6:58 doors of the cedral is this pillar there
7:01 is a photo I found of some children who
7:04 are poking their fingers into the bullet
7:06 holes that were riddled all in this
7:09 concrete and there used to be an
7:11 engraving of words right here and I
7:13 think it's still there just the steps
7:16 are blocking it you can see that they
7:19 have put some sort of like filler over
7:22 where the bullet holes were actually
7:24 wait look there's a bullet hole right
7:27 there and right there holy
7:31 cow that is awesome and there's another
7:35 one there and another one
7:58 awesome this is the John Hancock
7:58 building
8:03 Chris Farley lived
8:03 here and died here I loved Chris Farley
8:07 when he died I shed a tear December 18th
8:11 1997 a long time ago and he resided on
8:16 the 60th floor way up there private
8:22 residence he would have walked right in
8:24 and out of there on a daily
8:26 basis and the last time he ever went in
8:30 there was through that
8:32 door
8:45 wow John Hancock it's Herby
8:45 Hancock man I missed that guy look at
8:47 the sunset over there there's like a
8:49 weird purple streak in the
8:56 sky hopefully you can see that it's
8:56 pretty awesome right there between those
9:14 buildings and speaking of Saturday Night
9:14 Live there's another reference
9:18 right down there right here in the
9:20 nether regions of the city the
9:24 underbelly if you will lies the
9:28 historic Billy Goats Tavern this place
9:31 was the inspiration for that classic SNL
9:35 sketch cheese booger cheese booger
9:37 cheeseburger
10:20 here this is the Chicago Tribune
10:20 building and embedded on the side of the
10:24 walls are
10:27 chunks of remnants of things from all
10:30 around the world here's a brick from a
10:32 house in Holland a chunk from Fortress
10:34 walls in CIA Columbia a piece of a
10:37 cathedral from Notre some of Abraham
10:39 Lincoln's original tomb that he was
10:42 buried in right here on the side of the
10:44 wall I'll always remember there's a
10:47 piece of the Great Wall right there
10:49 that's way up there this didn't travel
10:51 too far this is from Wrigley Field which
10:54 is you know right up the road I wonder
10:55 how many people even know those are in
10:57 the wall look at this archway that's no
11:07 joke look at these apartments and
11:07 Condominiums when you get down about
11:09 halfway
11:10 down is where the cars are
11:17 parked so cars at the
11:17 bottom living accommodations at the
11:41 in the reflection of that building you
11:41 can see the
11:43 point of that building and then straight
11:48 down since
11:51 1972 this eternal flame has been burning
11:55 in memory of the men and women who have
11:59 served in our armed forces from the
12:01 Revolutionary War to the present this is
12:04 kind of interesting this Subway descent
12:08 which used to have
12:10 stairs is now only foliage and grass
12:14 there are no stairs
12:16 anymore strange whoa whoa whoa whoa
12:20 whoa they're removing the
12:28 flowers are those
12:28 patunas
