Welcome everyone. Adam the Woo here. As
0:02
the recording of this Tuesday, October
0:04
28th, 2025, I'm going to have myself an
0:08
Orange County day. I'm inviting you to
0:11
join me.
0:12
Shall you?
0:15
I'm a little distracted during the intro
0:16
because
0:18
classic car alert and piping hot
0:23
caffeinated beverage from Phil's Coffee.
0:24
I'm here near the Orange Circle, the
0:26
Orange Plaza. I can recall when I lived
0:28
here from 2015 and 2016, this was an
0:32
abandoned gas station, but now it's a
0:35
coffee shop. It's been open for a few
0:37
years. I'm going to take a stroll
0:39
through the circle. My old stomping
0:41
ground. A lot of fond memories here from
0:43
exactly a decade ago. I can't believe
0:44
it's been 10 years since I first moved
0:48
to SoCal.
0:51
Right to this neck of the woods. This
0:52
was my neighborhood. This was there
0:54
where I resided, where I walked around,
0:56
where I filmed multiple
0:59
videos.
1:05
Let's have a day. Orange County, Orange
1:05
Circle, and maybe other places in the
1:07
OC. I always like the marquee of the
1:09
Sunlight Theater, which is now a church.
1:12
If you want to be loved, be lovable.
1:15
And down below, someone has taken chalk.
1:19
Yeah. While we were still sinners, Jesus
1:21
died for us. I always love this area,
1:23
especially the old ghost signs that are
1:26
just kind of protruding through the
1:29
rocks there or the the bricks on the
1:32
side of the building. Masonic Temple.
1:35
Think of Italy. National Association.
1:44
Feels good out, especially in the shade.
1:44
I was walking on the other side where
1:47
the sun, it's a little bit warmer, but
1:48
in the shade it's really nice. The store
1:49
opened about a year ago. Welcome to
1:52
Oldtown Orange. Welcome to Oldtown
1:54
Orange. You glad you're here? I am
1:57
indeed. Oh, they have a a new Orange
2:00
California fountain shirt. Might have to
2:04
grab another orange
2:06
fountain shirt. They have a really good
2:08
assortment of stuff inside of there.
2:10
It's like two shops in one that say
2:11
connected. Something called Kasa Lulu
2:13
Lulo. Be good. And then also the
2:16
Everything Orange is connected. I think
2:18
it's all the one shop and they do screen
2:20
printing and things like that inside
2:22
there and they always have new stuff.
2:23
They always come up with new creative
2:25
ideas all around the particular, you
2:28
know, Chapman University and Gll and the
2:31
Circle and the district basically with
2:34
all the antiques. So, not only did I get
2:37
the coffee, but I also ended up picking
2:39
up a t-shirt, an orange t-shirt.
2:44
Now, when I lived here 10 years ago, I
2:47
do vividly recall that next to here was
2:51
a Starbucks. The Starbucks was right
2:53
inside this bank. And there was a second
2:55
Starbucks across the circle at the old
2:59
news gazette building. And I heard that
3:03
the second Starbucks has now closed. So,
3:05
I don't think there's even a Starbucks
3:06
in the circle anymore. I'm going to walk
3:08
over there and document that. And the
3:10
first Starbucks that closed five or six
3:11
years ago, closed not long after I even
3:13
lived here, that one was located in
3:16
Orange's first bank, the city of Orange
3:18
in Orange County, but the bank was
3:21
organized in 1886
3:23
and occupied on this site and changed it
3:25
name to the National Bank of Orange in
3:26
1887.
3:28
That's only 3 days. Is it 3 days? That's
3:30
a few days till Halloween. Yeah, 3 days
3:32
till Halloween. And they've already got
3:34
kind of their Christmas stuff out here
3:36
as well. Oh, you got some Halloween
3:38
stuff in the window there, obviously.
3:40
But they're already starting to put the
3:42
wooden reindeer out here, which is good.
3:44
And they're putting the Christmas lights
3:46
right up. You got some on a very tall
3:49
ladder there. Put the Christmas lights
3:51
up top. It's beginning to look a lot
3:53
like, well, Halloween, but soon
3:55
Christmas. I still recall when this used
3:57
to be a Radio Shack. Now it's a it's a
4:00
blazed blaze pizza. Fastfired pizza.
4:05
Nice little Vespa
4:07
right there. I also heard that recently
4:09
yet another person
4:12
smashed into the fountain at the Orange
4:14
Circle. Seems to happen every couple
4:16
years. A car in the middle of the night
4:18
will drive not in his proper direction
4:21
that way, but we'll go across
4:25
and smash into the fountain. Evidently,
4:27
that happened very recently again. Once
4:29
again, always happens. Got a nice clock
4:31
right here as well. I got the cigar shop
4:33
still open. Take a look. The Orange
4:35
Daily News building, which was the
4:38
Starbucks. I have gotten many a piping
4:40
hot caffeinated beverage from this very
4:43
historic newspaper building. It's closed
4:47
and sealed up. Dang.
4:49
There you go. See you later, Starbucks.
4:52
Another one bites the dust, as they say.
4:55
Nice little placard here on the ground
4:57
explaining a little bit. Here in 1871,
5:01
the town and farm of Andrew Glassel IVth
5:04
and Alfred Chapman, two cross streets
5:06
were offered to prospective buyers from
5:08
the track resident agents, Captain
5:11
William T. Blessel
5:18
maintained two seedling orange trees in
5:18
front of his office residents and
5:20
curiosities as curiosities to entice
5:24
settlers.
5:26
Pretty neat.
5:28
two orange trees. Maybe that's why I got
5:30
the name orange.
5:32
Now, it does not look as if the
5:34
destruction on the fountain was as
5:37
dramatic as previous drivers who have
5:39
driven through it because
5:41
it's not coned off or stansioned off or
5:44
there's no walls around it. So, whatever
5:46
damage was done, they fixed it pretty
5:48
quickly. I think it was a couple months
5:50
ago.
5:55
spent
5:55
many many hours in this courtyard
5:59
and living here and then also revisiting
6:10
and a lot of people call it the circle.
6:10
A lot of people call it the plaza. In
6:13
fact, the shop I just showed where I end
6:14
up buying the t-shirt, they told me a
6:16
long time ago they were going to make a
6:18
shirt called the plural. The plaza and
6:20
the circle mix. the plural, but I didn't
6:22
see any plural t-shirts in there. This
6:26
plaque says, "The Orange Plaza
6:28
boundaries were established by the first
6:30
survey of the site
6:32
of Richland to get to the town by AB
6:34
Chapman and Andrew Glassel has been a
6:36
local local point for local festivals
6:38
and activities for over a 100red years.
6:46
This marker was erected by the Orange
6:46
Rotary Club back in 1976.
6:53
long time ago.
6:53
I love this fountain. I'm not seeing any
6:55
of the Orange County parrots though that
6:57
are usually squawking through here that
6:58
I love to hear.
7:08
No parrots. Classic truck over there.
7:08
Traffic continually circling around. I
7:11
had a lot of memories here. not not only
7:14
in orange but also in the plaza circle
7:18
including that bench that I used to do a
7:20
lot of well not necessarily walking
7:22
talks but sitting talks and when I moved
7:25
out of California and I announced it was
7:26
right there on that bench
7:29
the first time in 2016 I moved here in
7:31
15 I was here a year
7:33
year and a half summer of 16 I left
7:37
bought the RV did the RV for a year and
7:39
then moved back to Hollywood when I left
7:41
the circle when I left Orange County
7:43
that first time. That's the bench where
7:45
I made the announcement. The the bench
7:46
is still there. It's in the sun, so I'm
7:47
not going to go sit in it cuz this sun
7:49
is permeating right now. So, I'm kind of
7:52
trying to enjoy the shade a little.
7:53
Check out Paul's cocktails. That bar
7:56
right there. It's got some skeletons up
7:58
on the roof. Looking pretty good. I do
8:00
enjoy some skeleton decor. They got
8:02
theirs all set up for Halloween.
8:05
It's old school radiator service
8:07
mechanic shop. Hoffman radiator service
8:11
just sits here. This is kind of how the
8:12
Phil's coffee was before they remodeled
8:14
it, turned it into a coffee shop.
8:18
Utilizing old buildings.
8:25
If you look over here,
8:25
there's the oranges and the writing on
8:27
it says, "These things take time."
8:32
The orange post 132 or 132, I should
8:35
say, the American Legion building here.
8:40
And I used to live
8:43
two blocks that way. That direction
8:45
right off of Kelly.
8:47
That was the name of the road or the
8:48
street.
8:51
It kind of budded right up to
8:54
the train. The train tracks.
8:57
What the
8:59
what the [screaming]
9:01
Hitchcock
9:03
would be
9:11
proud. Those are not the parrots. Those
9:11
are crows. But look at that onslaught
9:15
of crows right there. They're just like
9:18
going through the sky.
9:20
I mean, obviously they're flying around
9:21
through the sky, but I was overwhelmed,
9:23
taken back by how many are now perched
9:25
over in that tree.
9:28
Wow.
9:30
Okay. It's an old church building here.
9:35
Right underneath where all the crows are
9:36
flying around. So, I've ordered an Uber.
9:38
I'm going to go a few miles down to
9:40
Tustin where there is a teeny tiny
9:44
church building and a strip mall
9:47
shopping center. I'm going to check that
9:50
out. I'm just kind of winging today. I'm
9:51
just kind of just going where the wind
9:54
blows. Even though the wind is not
9:56
blowing, but showing this church. Going
9:58
to grab an Uber and go go show a teeny
10:01
tiny smallest church ever
10:05
in a shopping center parking lot.
10:08
Made the short commute, 20-minute
10:09
commute. Probably not even that far, 15
10:11
minutes.
10:13
Some crows down here in Tustin also and
10:15
very some very unique unique trees
10:19
>> right here at the James Town Village.
10:23
Those have been trimmed. Well, the ones
10:25
across the road have been trimmed. These
10:26
have not been trimmed, but those have
10:31
coned off. Maybe they are about to trim
10:34
this side of the road. at the Jamestown
10:37
Village.
10:40
There's a little church right over
10:42
there.
10:46
Take a look at that little thing right
10:46
here. This little strip mall.
10:50
Walk over there and get a better peek at
10:53
it.
11:01
It's kind of neat. You can drive right
11:01
by the side of it. There's a crow right
11:03
in front of it. They're perched up there
11:04
on the steeple with the cross.
11:07
Actually, they're perched all over that
11:08
thing.
11:55
Now, I've seen a lot of different
11:55
chapels going through the south and they
11:58
will be open that you can go in, but I
12:00
don't I don't think this is probably
12:01
going to be I'm going to say this is
12:02
probably not open. Yeah, it's locked.
12:04
So, they might actually have a service
12:07
in here from time to time to be honest.
12:09
I'm not 100% sure, but Very cool. Very
12:12
cool.
12:13
I feel like I've been here before 10
12:15
years ago or so, but
12:32
I like how it has a tree tree beside it.
12:32
It's right here in the middle of the
12:33
parking lot. You can drive around all
12:34
all the sides of it. All four sides.
12:38
It's a very unique shopping center.
12:48
This almost looks like a lighthouse
12:48
carved in there.
12:57
Oldtown Tustin. So, from Orange County,
12:57
well, in Orange County, Oldtown Orange,
13:00
and now Oldtown
13:03
Tustin,
13:17
right here off of Main Street is a
13:17
little bust of Columbus Tustin. That is
13:21
where Tustin got his name. I always kind
13:23
of wonder that. This is Columbus Tustin
13:24
who passed away in 1883. That's the man
13:28
himself that the name of the town
13:31
was named after. Columbus Tustin born in
13:35
Philly. He was the city's founder after
13:37
moving for Philadelphia.
13:40
Mr. Columbus Tustin. Who knew? I never
13:44
knew that till now. Crows circling
13:46
around here also.
13:48
They're everywhere.
14:09
It's a unique back stop.
14:09
It almost looks like an orange.
14:17
I'm not sure if that was the intention,
14:17
but yeah.
14:34
Bunny rabbit is going by
14:34
right there.
14:37
And there's another one.
14:40
That's a bird.
14:43
If you look close up, there's another
14:44
one. Some bunnies down there.
14:48
And it is kind of an interesting
14:50
coincidence because this is Bunny Hinge.
14:56
Real bunnies running around.
14:59
The little sculptured bunnies
15:02
making up Bunny Hench
15:06
right here in Newport.
15:25
covering lots of ground today. Again, no
15:25
real rhyme or reason to anything I'm
15:27
doing. Just grabbing some Ubers, seeing
15:30
some things.
15:55
Right here on the side of this hill,
15:56
this incline.
15:58
If you pan around past Bunny Hench,
16:01
here's Ronald Reagan.
16:08
There he is.
16:08
Well,
16:45
Ronald Reagan was the governor of
16:45
California from 67 to 75 and then went
16:48
on to be the president of the United
16:49
States from 81 to 89.
16:52
Two terms, eight years.
17:14
down the way. Now, there are a series
17:14
of Bry's Donuts. Most popular one, it's
17:17
over by LAX at Englewood. This one is in
17:20
Costa Mesa, not too far from Bunny
17:24
Hinge, but with traffic took a little
17:26
while.
17:28
It's on Harbor Boulevard, I believe.
17:29
2930
17:31
Harbor. Don't quote me on that, but I
17:33
think it's on Harbor Boulevard in Costa.
17:36
I'm going get myself a donut and I'm
17:37
going get myself a cup of Joe.
17:41
Never been in this one. It almost looks
17:42
like it used to be a different
17:45
fast food establishment maybe at one
17:47
time and it was converted into a
17:49
Randy's.
17:55
A lot of SoCal doughnut places have the
17:56
big donut just in time for Halloween.
17:58
some spooky sweets. Spiders and
18:00
sprinkled donuts through all hallow's
18:03
Eve. Grab them before they crawl away.
18:04
Maybe I'll get a spooky treat. I ended
18:07
up getting two donuts. I got a maple
18:11
and I got the spider.
18:20
Never been to this particular Randy's.
18:20
They're kind of almost they're taking
18:21
over, but they're popping up everywhere.
18:26
Looks pretty good.
18:42
An Oreo for the face of the spider,
18:42
which is kind of cool.
18:44
Little Ry's Oreo.
18:46
That's fun.
18:50
Very clever.
18:59
And that's going to do it for today.
18:59
Look at all those birds up there.
19:02
Thanks for watching. I'll see you in the
19:03
next video. The vlog
19:05
is over.
19:18
to be proud.
