0:02 today's adventure
0:02 begins as the recording of this Saturday
0:05 December 7th
0:07 20 24 starting off here on the corner of
0:12 Sunset Drive well Sunset Boulevard and
0:15 Hollywood Boulevard oh actually
0:18 technically this is also Sunset Drive
0:21 where it connects with Sunset Boulevard
0:24 which becomes Hollywood Boulevard very
0:28 confusing
0:30 but Sunset and Hollywood Boulevard run
0:34 parallel to each other except for this
0:37 little spot right here these
0:40 Crossroads I'm going to start off here
0:42 and then I'm going to have myself a
0:43 Hollywood Boulevard day yeah definitely
0:46 a weird connection of road so you got
0:48 Hollywood Boulevard there you got Sunset
0:50 there you got
0:53 Hillhurst right there and then you got
0:55 Sunset Drive Right Here welcome everyone
0:59 out of the woo here it is nice it's
1:01 sunny out weather is good at the moment
1:03 a little warmer than it has been the
1:05 last couple days here in Soca at least
1:07 here in Los Angeles Hollywood I'm
1:10 inviting you to join me a little later
1:13 in the day 5 or 6 p.m. I need to go to
1:15 LAX Los Angeles International Airport
1:18 pick up my mom and dad who are flying in
1:21 from Florida got a family vacation
1:23 coming up soon they are arriving tonight
1:27 but before then Hollywood Boulevard day
1:30 I'm inviting you to join me shall you
1:34 current temperature at the moment at
1:36 11:52
1:44 71° one reason I started over here is I
1:44 wanted to check out the Vista theater
1:46 there's a new coffee shop that just
1:47 opened evidently Quinton Tarantino who
1:50 owns a movie theater few miles from a
1:52 here he has for quite a
1:54 while has evidently according to rumors
1:56 purchased the old Vista theater and is
1:59 start playing films in there as well and
2:03 a coffee shop has opened next door to it
2:06 so I'm going to get a cup of coffee from
2:08 there check out the Vista theater if
2:10 you're familiar with the punkin hardcore
2:12 scene you might remember an album lights
2:15 camera Revolution I believe the name of
2:17 it
2:18 was St right up here all the members
2:21 were standing right on the side of that
2:23 also DW Griffith Birth of a Nation
2:27 premiered here this was also the street
2:30 corner right on the corner of Sunset and
2:33 Hollywood where that massive one of the
2:37 biggest
2:38 ever sets that were
2:41 constructed by him was on this corner
2:44 they tore it down many many years ago
2:47 but they recreated it they have a little
2:48 homage to it over on Hollywood and Vine
2:52 now in fact the Holly the Hollywood and
2:55 Vine not Hollywood Vine the Hollywood
2:57 and Highland Hollywood and Vine's a few
2:59 blocks there I'm getting Sunset Vine
3:02 Highland all that confused Hollywood and
3:04 Highland is the Highland Center right on
3:06 that corner you know half a block away
3:09 from the Chinese Theater is they built
3:12 that set that looked just like that
3:14 abandoned set that used to be here the
3:16 biggest constructed movie set at that
3:20 time just a an epic an Epic film which
3:24 doesn't really get talked about too much
3:25 anymore fact they've removed the
3:27 placards and everything on the
3:28 recreation over there at that mall in
3:30 the corner of Hollywood and
3:32 Highland also a really great movie that
3:35 was filmed right here True Romance
3:37 tantino wrote it maybe my favorite
3:39 Tarantino film even though he did not
3:41 direct it I think he kind of was there
3:43 on set probably directing it the same
3:46 guy that directed Top Gun directed that
3:50 film but yeah right in this general area
3:53 was that massive set from DW
3:56 Griffith right over in here I haven't
3:58 pin boarded the exact
4:01 exact spot but it was on the corner of
4:03 Sunset and oh my gosh they're playing
4:06 Blazing Saddles here look at
4:09 that yeah true romance both the
4:11 characters are right here they saw a
4:13 movie they talked about getting some pie
4:17 they got some pie went on their first
4:18 date the coffee shop I want to check out
4:20 Pam's coffee right
4:24 there just
4:26 recently was I watched Pulp Fiction a
4:29 Samuel Jackson k kick
4:32 lately I watched Pulp Fiction I also
4:34 watched Snakes on a Plane on the flight
4:36 out here watch watching Snakes on a
4:37 Plane on a plane was definitely an
4:39 interesting choice then I also watched
4:41 Jackie Brown starring Pam Greer all
4:43 right much better than I expected I mean
4:45 really well themed in here I mean just
4:47 like a little Cozy Coffee Stand All
4:49 Around Pam Greer and some of her work
4:51 and some of the posters on the wall and
4:53 even have a little area over in the
4:55 section A lot of merchandise and things
4:56 in here as well and oversized posters
4:59 it's just kind of appropriate that's
5:00 right next to the Vista Theater which is
5:02 like really really cool I ended up
5:03 getting a couple little souvenirs and I
5:06 got a piping hot caffeinated beverage in
5:08 fact a cup of Quinton I got well also
5:13 they had a little VHS screening room
5:14 they were playing they were playing
5:15 Christmas Christmas movies in the
5:17 screening room either way I got a cup by
5:21 Quinton tarantina you've seen the shirts
5:22 you see this a directed by Quinton
5:24 Tarantino this is a cup that is by
5:26 Quinton Tarantino Pam's coffee right
5:29 here and it looks like they have the
5:31 ladder out they might be taking down the
5:32 fact that blazing cells may have already
5:34 may have already passed oh he's uh
5:36 actually he's putting a word up there or
5:37 he's putting another letter up on the
5:40 protocol yeah so there you go right
5:42 there oh maybe it was a misspelling
5:44 either way I just I just got some Pam's
5:46 coffee right there is the C
5:50 FY based on the
5:52 film spelled a little bit differently
5:55 than your traditional
5:58 coffee yeah I I'm so glad they open this
6:00 here some throwback films playing in
6:02 here oh I see the deer hunter poster
6:04 there through the through the wall
6:06 course Blazing Saddles then you got all
6:08 the different handprints down here look
6:10 at this William freakin exist right
6:12 there is that Toby Hooper sure is look
6:15 at
6:15 this it's got to be Toby Herbert I can't
6:18 tell if that says Toby but I'm going to
6:19 guess that's Toby cuz TCM I'm guessing
6:22 it was Texas Chainsaw Massacre
6:25 1974 classic Dabney Coleman oh my gosh 9
6:30 to5 freaking
6:33 awesome Princess Bride As You
6:36 Wish okay this is kind of neat Spike
6:46 Jones
6:52 black there's one right midn midn
6:57 is Blazing Saddles yeah minute till
7:00 midnight yeah very cool they got quite a
7:03 few little items in here so they have
7:05 like mates also they said they Place
7:07 certain movies on VHS they project it
7:09 off the VHS into like a a little small
7:11 room for the Maes and they have the big
7:13 showing at midnight there's shirt there
7:17 you also have a video archive Cinema
7:19 Club and a little tote bag
7:26 there thank
7:26 you oh yeah this so this is the Cinema
7:29 Club this is where this is where you go
7:30 in and watch the the
7:32 VHS okay so it's not on the actual big
7:34 screen this is where you go in and watch
7:36 the the vhs's this is so awesome this is
7:38 so awesome that
7:54 way pretty dang cool man pretty dang
7:54 cool
8:02 this is for elsewhere they're here in
8:02 town they're having a guy Fier lookalike
8:06 contest look at that and this already
8:11 passed there a VHS
8:13 Market over at the Chacha
8:17 lounge and the coffee's pretty good put
8:19 a little cream and sugar in it but the
8:20 coffee's pretty tasty a cup by Quinton
8:24 also got souvenirs got the little logo
8:27 there
8:29 yes Quinton brewed me up a cup of coffee
8:31 he wasn't in there but I'm going to
8:33 pretend he was pretend he was behind the
8:35 counter being a barista I feel like
8:38 Quinton and I kind of share a love of at
8:40 least one thing well probably a few
8:42 things but definitely piping hot
8:45 caffeinated beverages I know he likes
8:46 his coffe is
8:47 hot at least I'm assuming got a magnet
8:51 that's what that is there I got a little
8:53 ballpoint pin right there and a couple
8:56 stickers a little souvenir bag little
8:59 magnet to add my metal cabinets nice I'm
9:03 going by my old apartment over here wish
9:05 the Vista theater was open when I lived
9:07 here in 2017 to
9:09 2019 on Hollywood
9:11 Boulevard I lived out in Orange County
9:13 at different times but I lived here I
9:15 lived right over here for those two
9:16 years at that time Tarantino had did not
9:19 own it it right over here in this
9:21 building this big tall 1 two 3 four five
9:25 story building I was on the fourth floor
9:26 if I remember
9:28 correctly right right
9:35 there right here on Carlton halfway
9:35 between Sunset and Hollywood Boulevard
9:38 it over to the Hollywood and Highland
9:39 parking structure P4 the green level
9:44 also a Birth of a Nation was a different
9:46 Griffith movie and tolerance was the one
9:48 that they built that had this set both
9:51 his films but so the premiere of the
9:55 other movie was at the vista and then
9:57 the set was the other was intolerance
9:59 like this escalator is wait am I going
10:02 up yeah I'm going up this escalator is
10:04 not working so going to walk it also DCA
10:08 Disney California Adventure had the
10:10 elephants same elephants from that set
10:12 used to be on their Hollywood Boulevard
10:13 they removed those too they moved them
10:15 from Hollywood and Highland and they
10:16 moved them from Disney California
10:27 eventually that's what it looked like
10:27 before they changed it that Archway is
10:29 still there there but they got rid of
10:30 the elephants and all that they got
10:32 there used to be a plaque that was
10:33 located right down here tell them why
10:36 they built it and all that but since
10:37 been removed but that was right over
10:38 there by the Vista theater where I just
10:40 was with the Pam's coffee this is where
10:43 the real set used to be and then this is
10:45 the recreation on Hollywood Highland
10:47 anyway it's kind of a fascinating
10:48 subject that's now gone both both the
10:51 original set and this Recreation Dolby
10:54 Theater has their wreath up in their
10:55 Christmas decorations curious to see
10:57 what kind of Christmas decor
10:59 is going to be near Hollywood and
11:01 Highland I always Park in the the same
11:03 area Street Park is very difficult to
11:06 find around the bulevard so it's easier
11:08 just
11:09 to to park in the structure here and
11:12 then you can just park all day and then
11:13 pay when you leave ah yes the Academy
11:16 Awards
11:17 steps with all the different names of
11:19 Academy Award winners like departed in
11:23 2006 No Country for Old Men 2007 great
11:27 movie
11:31 all right let's hit the boulevard the
11:32 Boulevard of Broken Dreams that's his
11:35 nickname among other things defitely
11:37 doing something over here in front of
11:38 the Chinese Theater on Hollywood
11:40 Boulevard there's they got it all closed
11:42 off at least this one particular block
11:44 and there's Quinton Star right there
11:46 there he is yes the always
11:48 impressive TCL Chinese Theaters formerly
11:51 the gromen Chinese Theater Sid in fact
11:55 you can see a lot of the handprints here
11:57 still say to Mr Sid
11:59 best
12:00 always you got George Burns right here
12:04 Ted I'm Going In Style also good luck
12:07 Sid Douglas Fairbanks speaking of
12:10 Blazing Saddles There Will Smith you
12:12 know this this is a scene from Blazing
12:15 Saddles it was playing over at the vista
12:17 where Harvey kman walks up and goes how
12:18 did he do such incredible stunts with
12:21 such small feet I think that's it I
12:23 might be paraphrasing but yeah x marks
12:25 the spot I don't know what's going on
12:26 with that but yeah
12:34 because I go to Hollywood Studios a lot
12:34 know near Orlando Central Florida over
12:37 few miles from my home in celebration
12:39 and they have recreated this exactly I
12:41 mean same dimensions and everything they
12:44 in Central Florida as it is here the
12:45 only difference is this little stand
12:47 here is over on this side that's really
12:50 the only difference but the everything
12:52 else is the same and way less handprints
12:54 obviously a lot more history here than
12:56 it would be however here one thing you
12:59 do not see at Hollywood Studios is Jack
13:01 Sparrow playing a guitar and Darth Vader
13:04 Mickey Mouse Mickey Mouse right there I
13:06 mean you can see Jack Spar at the parks
13:08 but you're not going to see him playing
13:09 a guitar like this gentleman is they're
13:11 enclosing it so you see they're kind of
13:12 like enclosing it there they got the
13:14 workers here you got all the heavy
13:16 machinery out you got the Roosevelt
13:19 right over there and they are enclosing
13:21 that's open air at the moment but at
13:23 some point it's going to be completely
13:24 enclosed in fact you can see the workers
13:26 here they have the little thing they're
13:28 going to be pulling but they're doing
13:29 the countdown and they're going to be uh
13:32 think they're like pulling those cords
13:33 to like to secure the top of the roof
13:36 portion right
13:37 there that's what they were doing anyway
13:39 since I showed a star since I'm kind of
13:41 was just talking about him over at the
13:42 vista and all that but right here are
13:44 his handprints and his feet prints right
13:46 here ah the old $5 souvenir shop tucked
13:50 away over used to be able to go up that
13:51 stairway but not anymore they don't want
13:53 to go up that stairway anymore they have
13:54 it staned off you could probably just
13:55 jump over the stanion and ropes and walk
13:57 up there but yeah used to not to just
13:59 you know walk right up there and then
14:01 just like go to the kind of the top
14:02 floor overlooking the Chinese Theater
14:04 you really couldn't see much but you
14:06 could at least like kind of get a little
14:07 higher definitely got the streets all
14:09 blocked off I mean a lot of things a lot
14:11 of things always happen down here so
14:12 they always have events like this type
14:14 of place but right now cannot drive
14:16 through this portion of Hollywood
14:18 Boulevard that guy's banging on a metal
14:19 pole someone's getting a star soon right
14:22 over here next to Bruno Walter there's a
14:24 star that's about to be unveiled usually
14:26 when you see one covered like this it
14:28 means they're going to be doing a star a
14:31 little star ceremony within a couple
14:34 days after you see those realize right
14:37 in front of the Kimmel stage the Kimmel
14:39 entrance is where Eisner Michael
14:42 Eisner from Disney the Disney
14:44 Corporation of course who was
14:46 responsible for building MGM Studios
14:48 Holly now Hollywood
14:50 Studios back in the early 90s my
14:52 favorite themed park ever right in front
14:54 of the El Cap L Capitan Theater which
14:56 Disney owns
15:05 so right over there if you go around
15:05 that courtyard to the right is where
15:07 that original set Recreation was now the
15:09 archway is still there but yeah that's
15:11 where it was like right through there
15:12 I'll walk over there in AIT you could
15:14 rent one of these for $89 right here see
15:16 $89 you can rent one I think it's a
15:19 little bigger than that take a look at
15:20 Buster usually you can't stand here when
15:22 there's traffic going by because there'd
15:25 be traffic in the way but well I guess
15:27 if you had the walking Arrow but way you
15:29 can stand here because the the cones are
15:30 all
15:32 here there's Buster all stifi he's got
15:36 his beard on got a Santa cap he's got a
15:40 piece of candy in his
15:42 mouth old Buster busting out of the top
15:44 of RI
15:53 please I
15:53 know it's
15:55 a for you yes it is I want went up one
15:59 of the mini escalators to the topest
16:02 portion of an escalator that you can
16:04 take well actually no there's another
16:05 there's another escalator right there
16:07 but up to where the elephants used to be
16:09 so they still see the archway is right
16:11 here so it kind of still looks very very
16:13 similar looking into it but right up
16:16 there was where the elephants used to be
16:17 over there there is the school that John
16:20 Ritter went to you can see a little
16:23 painting it's way over there you can see
16:24 it's kind of silhouetted out see Mr
16:27 Ritter John it's on the side of that
16:30 wall painted over there right over there
16:33 might not show up very well but I
16:35 probably can't really I can't really
16:36 walk any farther
16:39 because this this is where I'm
16:42 at I going to try to go up a little
16:44 higher though way up here on this top
16:46 platform you see the top of the Chinese
16:47 Theater there I'm going to kind of zoom
16:49 out you can still hear all the
16:50 construction you got Kobe here some
16:52 Academy Awards you can also see this
16:55 little bow here which is place for Decor
16:58 looking down
16:59 also take a look over there you see the
17:00 skyline of Los Angeles the El Capitan
17:05 little antenna right there or whatever
17:07 you want to call that and all the
17:08 construction they're doing down there
17:10 soothing sounds of
17:21 sirens that's a big
17:21 bow it's a big what is this made out of
17:24 felt I don't know it's glittery never
17:26 been able to walk up this but this is
17:28 accessible too
17:29 go up one more
17:31 level okay all right all
17:35 right wow and everybody able to get this
17:37 high up so you got the Roosevelt over
17:40 there so I can remember seeing there was
17:42 a thing they did on Kimel years ago they
17:44 had Harrison Ford and he was talking I
17:47 think Chewbacca was down there or maybe
17:48 Harrison was down there Chewbacca was up
17:50 there and they filmed it on the roof
17:52 right there of the chemel show you can
17:54 even this is so high up you can even see
17:55 the football field over there from the
17:57 school that John rter went to I'm way up
18:00 here usually this is closed off but it's
18:02 wide open right now Buster is way down
18:06 there I'm way above Buster Buster is
18:09 usually looking down on me I'm looking
18:11 down on Buster right now with that very
18:13 dirty Santa
18:15 beard happy holidays from Hollywood we
18:19 have a Mufasa setup over here for the
18:22 live action Lion King and you also see
18:24 the little Hollywood Sign miniature
18:26 right down here in the in the courtyard
18:30 currently pets are animals allowed on
18:32 this lawn area except for lions that
18:35 could probably perch right up there
18:37 those would probably be allowed they
18:39 probably make an exception point you can
18:41 kind of see the Hollywood sign it's like
18:43 right there so pretty good view from
18:45 this little archw this bad
18:48 boy still
18:50 here public
18:53 phone I'm not going to use that the
18:54 reverse side of that Archway right there
18:59 so where I was looking at the Hollywood
19:00 sign I was like right there looking that
19:02 way walked down showed that pay phone
19:04 and now walking back to the boulevard
19:05 that direction I nearly forgot that they
19:07 put all this over
19:10 here the Scientology building this is
19:13 something they do for the
19:15 holidays you got the back when I lived
19:18 here I remember they had like a pretty
19:19 cool display you'd walk by and they had
19:21 it all all the Christmas stuff out here
19:23 they call it the winter wonderland
19:24 pretty neat it's not going on today but
19:26 they're setting up for it
19:28 kind of interesting they still do this
19:30 again it's been a while since I think
19:32 I've walked down the Boulevard in
19:34 December I've walked down the boulevard
19:36 a lot every time I visit here but when I
19:37 lived here obviously for those couple
19:40 years from 2017 to 19 before I moved
19:42 back down to Orange County I'd always
19:43 walk by here they'd always have their
19:46 little Winter Wonderland set up and they
19:47 still do they have it all have it all
19:49 ready to go but right now it's not
19:51 happening at this particular moment
19:53 self-driving car self-driving car
19:55 there's no one behind the wheel of that
19:57 car or inside that car self driving car
19:59 alert we're here at muso and franks
20:01 right now using it once upon a time in
20:02 Hollywood tantino movie this sign says
20:05 that till the 11th it's kind of hard to
20:07 read it but right here says through the
20:09 11th okay that's not really translating
20:11 to the camera very well but through 6:
20:13 p.m. on December 11th they're going to
20:15 have the road up there by the Chinese
20:17 Theater closed off when they filmed Once
20:20 Upon a Time in Hollywood that's when I
20:21 was living here from 2017 to 19 it was
20:23 one of those years Jordan the lion and I
20:25 were kind of neighbors we lived a couple
20:27 blocks from each other right down the
20:28 boulevard he Liv on one side of the
20:30 boulevard I lived on the other side and
20:32 we walked down here and watch them film
20:34 a scene with
20:36 Leo and Brad Pit driving right down here
20:41 with the driving scene got to see
20:43 Tarantino it's right over there from the
20:45 distance was pretty neat hard to believe
20:48 how long ago that was time really does
20:50 fly quickly it's closed right now but
20:52 Leo and Brad Pit were standing
20:53 underneath there when Leo's his
20:56 character is having a little bit of a
20:57 meltdown and he's like I'm a hasb been
21:00 good buddy I'm a hasb been it's like
21:03 right underneath
21:04 there oldest in Hollywood since 1919
21:07 muso and Frank Grill it's interesting
21:09 I've eaten a lot of places in LA and
21:11 Hollywood I've never eaten inside muso
21:13 and Frank I don't know why it's never I
21:16 never have been bu oh look at this
21:17 another another pay phone remember last
21:19 time I was here I walked by this as well
21:21 this one doesn't even have like the
21:22 handle or anything on it it's just just
21:24 the shell this little mural right here
21:28 probably be easier if I just went over
21:30 the top of it filmed it there you
21:33 go my Veer off over onto Sunset and to
21:36 other areas maybe Veer off the boulevard
21:38 a little bit instead of walking all the
21:40 way down the the usual Traverse I do
21:42 just kind of winging it look like the
21:44 Baja Beach Bar might have closed right
21:46 here yeah looks like Baja Beach Bar has
21:49 uh seen better days remember when this
21:51 was open house of margaritas is now shut
21:56 down and sealed up
21:59 look over there there is Frosty's
22:01 Christmas Bar says Christmas Starts Here
22:04 Frosty's Christmas bar The Ultimate
22:07 Christmas
22:08 bar it's according to what it says
22:10 painted on the side of the building geed
22:12 off I'm on the corner of shider and
22:15 Selma right here at the YMCA I
22:18 love love this old neon this YMCA Neon
22:21 right
22:28 there looks like it's all boarded well
22:28 at least
22:29 going down Selma that section's boarded
22:40 up oo filming over here do a little
22:40 filming always filming in
22:58 Hollywood look at this they got it all
22:58 there must be they must be doing a scene
23:01 inside here and they don't want the sun
23:02 to get in so they have it all blackened
23:05 out right
23:07 there that motorcycle is going to be
23:09 using the
23:11 production so many Productions go on you
23:14 just never really know what what
23:15 anything really is yeah that's a pretty
23:18 good pretty good chunk of space oh look
23:20 at this classic car
23:23 alert I popped over here off
23:26 Sunset Crossroads of the
23:29 world Chinese Theater obviously
23:31 prominently displayed at Hollywood
23:33 Studios Disney Hollywood Studios in
23:34 Florida but also when you're first
23:36 walking in you see a recreation of this
23:38 a recreation of the crossroads of the
23:41 world now many years ago again when I
23:43 lived around this area these Gates would
23:45 be open you could walk in peruse around
23:48 but you can't really peruse around too
23:50 much it's all sealed up I don't know if
23:52 anything's even happening back in there
23:56 I think it was Big Audio Dynamite fil
23:58 filmed a music video right up
24:00 there Big Audio Dynamite Crossroads of
24:03 the world they were like up there on the
24:04 little railing performing the whole
24:06 music video was right there this always
24:09 reminds me of Hollywood Studios when you
24:11 walk in you go over you get your guide
24:13 Maps when you're first walking in you
24:15 got the guide maps you can get there a
24:16 little pin trading and things like that
24:19 this honestly might be a few feet taller
24:21 and this does not have the Mickey
24:25 there's a a Mickey lightning rod at the
24:27 one in Florida this one does not have
24:29 that lightning rod on it looks like
24:31 there's a gentleman on patrol in there
24:35 and the base of this is a little bit
24:37 wider so the base of this well you know
24:40 what maybe it's not it might be the same
24:43 might be the same base size it's tough
24:45 to tell but I think this might be a
24:47 few percentages
24:56 bigger pretty cool
24:56 right yeah I don't think any I don't
24:58 think this is used for anything
25:04 anymore oh we out of your way there you
25:04 got a you're got a little robotic a
25:06 robotic delivery service going by here
25:09 uh Juan is what the thing says on there
25:11 is zooming by is it going to stop for
25:13 this little scooter it's going around
25:15 the scooter look at this okay what's it
25:18 going to do I don't want to get this way
25:19 I don't want to deter this robot it's
25:21 called a serve robotics this thing's
25:23 going by right
25:25 there right right across from the cross
25:27 you don't see the at Disney not yet
25:29 anyway maybe at some point you'll order
25:31 some merchandise at the you know one of
25:34 the gift shops at Hollywood Studios and
25:37 they will uh they'll bring it to you
25:39 where you need to go pretty fascinating
25:55 right SE a car self-driving car and a
25:55 delivery item
26:09 what are you going to do like the shape
26:09 of this building right
26:10 here walking down
26:13 Sunset right next to the Hollywood
26:15 Center which is such a cool old building
26:18 this has to have been used in countless
26:20 Productions I mean it's just such a kind
26:22 of an eerie old timey retro like Motel
26:28 slash accommodations place I don't know
26:30 what exactly it would be but you can see
26:32 it's missing one of the O's Hollywood
26:36 center it's got this retro brick work
26:39 you know concrete almost something like
26:42 you'd see it like a a beach motel but
26:45 it's not on the beach it's in Hollywood
26:47 you got the old signage right up there
26:50 little spray paint on there you got the
26:52 old neon you even got some bulbs up
26:54 there which I don't think they even work
26:55 anymore surrounding the Hollywood Center
26:58 Motel signage but if I was a you know
27:01 production manager if I was location
27:04 scout or filming a movie this would be a
27:06 perfect spot to do it to have it just
27:08 look how awesome this is it's like
27:10 something out of like Devil's Rejects I
27:12 me Devil's Rejects wasn't filmed here
27:13 that was out the
27:14 desert it kind of has that that kind of
27:18 vibe but people look obviously there's
27:20 newer cars in here look at this this is
27:23 really cool right
27:26 don't there's an old seven 11 machine or
27:29 7 Up machine right over there this has
27:32 to have been used in a lot of different
27:34 movies I would imagine this is probably
27:37 just kept here that way it could be
27:39 rented out by
27:46 Productions maybe I don't know I'm just
27:46 assuming all right strolling back up to
27:50 Highland all I'm on Highland strolling
27:53 back up to the boulevard I should say
28:01 Max Factor building now Hollywood museum
28:01 Mills Drive-In so if you're ever at
28:04 Downtown Disney well now it's called
28:05 Disney Springs this building is a
28:07 restaur they recreated this at Disney
28:11 Springs and it's a restaurant they got
28:12 it they have it kind of reversed was
28:14 like a pizza place and then there's like
28:16 a restaurant you can go in you can go
28:17 down below to like a little hidden area
28:19 it's pretty close to where the balloon
28:21 is a Disney Springs but they they paid
28:24 homage to this building here the Max
28:27 Factor building
28:32 as I'm mentioning tarantina this place
28:32 here used to be called welltopia now
28:35 it's just sitting empty it's all spray
28:36 painted over and all that but if you've
28:39 ever seen True Romance I mentioned that
28:40 earlier where the Vista was filmed at
28:43 theater they watched the movie
28:45 together came back to the comic book
28:48 shop this was the comic book shop where
28:51 they kind of shared a moment there was
28:53 the upper
28:54 portion inside there there was like a
28:58 second balcony above the comic book shop
29:02 and this is where they film those scenes
29:05 from True
29:07 Romance right here around the corner
29:09 there's a really cool some really cool
29:12 murals that have been painted on the
29:14 side right
29:24 here these are really cool back here
29:24 look at chaplain over here on the corner
29:27 you got Maryland you got
29:34 Elvis got John
29:34 Wayne right
29:45 chaplain May the Monroe Elvis
29:45 Presley John
29:51 Wayne and a mountain
29:51 range or something oh look at this I
29:54 never noticed this I never been this far
29:56 back in here Stella Adler Academy of
29:59 acting and
30:06 theaters wow I've never been around the
30:06 back
30:07 here look at this what is
30:10 this what the heck is this back
30:14 here
30:20 okay I never knew you could walk down
30:20 this little alley this far I don't know
30:23 why I would have assumed you couldn't
30:24 but yeah
30:28 it's quiet back in
30:30 here really
30:40 quiet you're really quiet it's really
30:40 unusual how just off you know half block
30:44 off the boulevard is this little alley
30:45 and it's so quiet back here I've never
30:48 walked this far I've walked up there and
30:50 showed those murals before walked past
30:51 those murals we're never down into this
30:54 far deep into
30:56 this like no one back back in here and
30:58 it's super
31:00 quiet at least at this time of the
31:17 public all right that's Anthony bouraine
31:17 but I must admit not too familiar with
31:20 who these other two gentlemen are that
31:21 there is a Subway in Hollywood in La not
31:24 a lot of people use it in fact when I
31:26 lived here I didn't really I use it a
31:28 few times but very rarely I kind of wish
31:30 I would have used it more yeah you can
31:33 get all around just like a lot of other
31:35 cities have subways but no one really
31:37 ever uses it here at least not like
31:39 other places walking over here past some
31:42 of the different stars and whatnot again
31:45 I'm not a th% positive on what is going
31:50 on we being built here but they're
31:54 they're getting this thing together
31:55 pretty dang quickly pretty dang quickly
31:58 and there's another view of Buster right
32:00 there yeah back in the day these used to
32:03 used to walk on these and as you walked
32:05 up them it would do the not like said it
32:06 would do like a little uh whatever you
32:08 would call it over here it would be like
32:10 some sort of indicator here and as you
32:12 would step on each one it would make the
32:14 note of each particular piano key here
32:17 was called sweets for a while it was a
32:19 store called sweets again this is in
32:21 that little segment of time when I lived
32:24 here it's been a couple things since
32:25 then and I think it was a popup recently
32:28 for something else and there was an
32:31 Elvira store in here that was part of
32:33 sweets for a while it was this massive
32:35 candy store and you could like there was
32:38 even a like a or like a uh an organ
32:41 piano in there similar to what they had
32:43 in the movie Big with Tom Hanks that you
32:45 could walk on I hope I'm remembering
32:47 that
32:48 correctly look at this wow look you can
32:52 peek in here now oh my gosh just
32:54 bringing back memories from gosh 7 years
32:57 years
32:58 ago 7 8 years ago going walking around
33:01 in here inside sweets or the sweet store
33:05 something like that the sweetness The
33:08 Sweet Spot the spots of sweets
33:11 sweet I think it was called
33:14 sweets yeah
33:22 wow again they had a pop up in there
33:22 semi recently oh here's a pretty good
33:24 view let me go over here and get a good
33:27 view of that stair case that you can see
33:28 in the Academy Awards they kind of
33:30 drench all this and
33:32 covering but if you ever watch the the
33:35 Oscars you can see that staircase right
33:38 there just like that where they walk up
33:39 and down and they go inside the
33:42 Dolby and what was the academy
33:44 award-winning film in 1970 your answer
33:48 would be Paton the next year was French
33:52 Connection and the next year The
33:55 Godfather and then the sting and then
33:58 the year I was born was The Godfather
34:00 Part
34:03 Two fun facts I always think of
34:06 escalators and people getting stuck on
34:08 them I think of M rats and Jason Lee's
34:11 Spiel that almost happened I saw someone
34:15 in
34:16 their child almost got stuck on one back
34:19 there it's kind of scary but luckily it
34:22 worked out okay and they were all right
34:23 but almost had a m rat's moment out of
34:26 order
34:28 out of
34:38 order I will thank
34:40 you oh this thing this thing's run
34:42 parallel to me look at this little uh
34:44 food cart thing is like running parallel
34:46 right there all right I'm over near the
34:48 airport take a look at
34:59 got a little while before I pick up my
34:59 parents about another hour hour and a
35:02 half so I'm going to walk over here and
35:04 check something out that's pretty
35:10 interesting traffic was pretty bad took
35:10 me probably an hour and 15 minutes to
35:13 get from where I
35:15 was to where I am now but I made it
35:18 corner of saula in
35:21 Westchester also got a
35:23 lollipop doing a lot of lollipops lately
35:26 like channeling tell syalis or something
35:27 I don't know I think it tell every time
35:29 I think of a lollipop over here at the
35:31 Paradise Theater they got some
35:33 interesting little information placards
35:36 in the ground oh I got to walk now in
35:38 the
35:40 ground I think there might even be maybe
35:43 they're not I think they might be items
35:45 that are buried in the ground time
35:47 capsules that's the word I'm looking for
35:48 time
35:50 capsules yeah here you go sealed herein
35:54 are
35:55 momentos of the Academy of motion
35:57 picture Art and
35:59 Science awards from 1957 bridge over the
36:03 river koi now I've showed this before
36:06 year or two ago but it's just
36:08 fascinating that this is still
36:11 here best performance by actor Alec
36:18 Guinness from Star
36:19 Wars it's also in the bridge in the
36:21 river koi
36:32 1956 Around the World in 80
36:32 Days you know that reminds me I want to
36:35 watch that cuz I'm going to start doing
36:36 international travel next year I should
36:39 probably watch Around the World in 80
36:41 Days I don't know if I've ever seen the
36:43 complete movie before I always reference
36:45 it and I've I know of it and I've seen
36:48 clips of it but I've never seen it in
36:49 its
36:50 entirety I might actually do that Yule
36:53 Briner best performance by an actor for
36:56 that film
37:09 Mill hary Cooper reflection with my
37:09 lollipop right
37:10 there Lawrence of
37:19 Arabia From Here to Eternity William
37:19 Holden great
37:22 actor on the waterfront Columbia
37:25 Pictures Marlin
37:26 brand sealed here in are momentos there
37:29 are time capsules possibly props
37:32 promotional material from all these
37:34 Academy Award winning films when they
37:38 when are they going to open
37:40 these why am I
37:42 yelling All the King's
38:02 All About
38:02 Eve I know what that's all about It's
38:04 All About Eve In the Heat of the
38:31 apartment goodness gracious there's a
38:33 lot of these My Fair Lady sealed here in
38:36 are motos from the 1964 best picture and
38:41 classic My Fair Lady Jack Warner Warner
38:44 Brothers what the heck that's
38:51 awesome yeah just right here near the
38:51 airport it's a good little waiting
38:55 point I'm going to go over over there
38:59 pick them up family vacation begins very
39:02 very soon very very very very soon some
39:07 other stuff on the ground over there too
39:08 I'll check out what that is I'm going to
39:10 keep look at Westside
39:11 Story right
39:13 there got Westside Story and the last
39:17 one a man for all
39:21 seasons 1966
39:28 oh this is a bunch of Airline stuff
39:30 first women flight attendant the flight
39:32 path president chairman wa Pat Patterson
39:35 Los Angeles World airport so it's a
39:38 little airport history as you stroll
39:40 through here which is really
39:42 neat here you go Sir Richard
39:45 Branson Virgin
39:52 Air he's on the little Walk of Fame when
39:52 it comes to airline travel
40:05 here I think that's it oh wait what are
40:05 these oh these don't these don't have
40:07 anything on them yet they're just empty
40:09 look that's just empty that one's empty
40:13 and all the rest of the empty they're
40:14 just waiting for someone else to be
40:17 immortalized here in the
40:23 concrete fascinating really would like
40:23 to know when these are going to be
40:24 opened up and what is buried underneath
40:27 here like what is just a couple feet
40:29 underneath this concrete concrete
40:33 pavement right
40:39 here there might be some really
40:39 interesting and
40:41 valuable movie props in history
40:44 underneath there scripts sign things
40:54 Etc never know oh there we
40:54 go and that's going to do it for today
40:58 I'll see you in the next video the
41:00 Vlog
