0:33 ape City from the Fantastic 1968 movie

0:37 Planet of the

1:06 we're actually not the first people that

1:06 have been out here to document the

1:07 filming locations of the spot there's

1:09 few other people on YouTube that have

1:11 done it including count here has also

1:13 done a video underneath this video I'll

1:15 be put a link to his video as well as a

1:17 few other YouTubers who' have actually

1:19 been out of here but I wanted to show a

1:21 few more of the small minute details

1:24 that maybe a few other people have

1:25 missed let's continue on let's

1:49 yeah utilize those holes in the Rock

1:49 very hard to get your bearings out here

1:51 but this rock here they actually had

1:53 water flowing down I think they inserted

1:55 hoses at the top to make the waterfall

1:58 protruding down

2:05 when they came out of the desertous

2:05 region to find an oasis of water they

2:09 slithered right down there and saw with

2:13 amazement

2:36 the way you can tell that this is the

2:36 exact shot is because they're cloes

2:38 would have been trounced on those two

2:40 rocks and this tree that's actually

2:43 going that way the tree's actually

2:45 Fallen to the right no longer standing

2:47 strong it used to be diagonal about like

2:50 that and now laying down almost

2:53 completely submerged in the water these

2:55 rocks off here are the same the

2:57 waterfall was coming down behind it this

3:00 rock is the same that Rock's the same

3:02 and that's the shot right there the

3:04 exact shot from the

3:18 film right down there there's three

3:18 different rocks that's where Charlton

3:20 hon swam right through the middle of

3:22 that rock and went up the side of that

3:24 other Rock to look for his stolen

3:26 clothes that were removed right there on

4:24 tree and one over there you can't see it

4:26 because the tree has gotten so much

4:27 bigger another tree is falling over the

4:31 died those are the two trees that the

4:34 people the mute people that were

4:35 climbing in there throwing down the

4:38 fruit you got off at the wrong

4:43 stop you're supposed to be The Optimist

6:02 there's one long continuous shot when

6:06 here and then once it actually protrudes

6:08 out of the corn field the child starts

6:11 spastically trying to get

6:19 away over back in here you can actually

6:19 see some of the humans hanging upside

6:22 down right in this area with these trees

6:24 behind them then there is a wagon a car

6:27 right here that tailor is being put

6:30 inside

6:36 of and then right here are the three

6:36 Apes standing above a pile of humans

6:39 getting their photographs taken and the

6:41 photographer is actually standing right

6:44 here in front of this tree with all

6:47 these Tree Trunks going different

6:50 directions standing right here behind a

6:53 camera

8:22 standing right at the bottom of the

8:22 steps uh below where they had the human

8:24 cages behind us was a facade built the

8:27 same way they built in ape City where

8:28 there's a doorway and you know Zer and

8:30 all the people go through down to the

8:32 cages where they they kept the humans

8:34 down there where Taylor was was uh being

8:36 held in the part where they had the fire

8:38 hose and they're springing him down and

8:40 he's all this is a mad house a mad

8:59 here running up these stairs at my age

8:59 multiple mle times considering the first

9:00 take didn't

9:15 oh makes sure a little winded good thing

9:17 we got plenty of hydration out here yes

9:20 quite the hike to get out there out it

9:22 is I wonder how many uh times Charlton

9:24 hon how many takes he did to run up this

9:27 two 117 this whole thing is

9:40 insane behind me is Century Lake uh you

9:40 can't see it as full of foliage has

9:42 grown up over the years but this is the

9:43 lake that was is right in front of where

9:45 ape city was

9:51 built the bridge that they built started

9:51 here right where ape city is behind us

9:54 and actually went over Century Lake

9:57 straight off at an angle that

10:00 way this whole area was completely empty

10:04 full of water ape City over that

10:09 way really nothing left except you can

10:13 hear the stream off in the background

10:15 there looks like the bridge would have

10:17 connected right about

10:20 there the part you really don't see very

10:23 much in the movie where the bridge

10:24 starts the massive River has actually

10:26 been reduced to this basically this

10:28 little stream

10:29 only a few feet deep instead of going

10:33 all the way across all this would have

10:35 been flooded out not really any remnants

10:38 of the bridge left all it is just a

10:41 bunch of grown over weeds and

10:49 trees Taylor if you look at the actual

10:50 rock in the mountain itself and you can

10:51 see the holes in it and the texture and

10:53 the color you can see how they actually

10:55 took that as the format to design ape

10:57 City and why they actually created ated

10:59 ape City and made it look the way that

11:01 it looked in the movie just look at the

11:03 side of that mountain and the holes and

11:06 the colorization and the texture of the

11:09 side of that mountain very similar to

11:11 what was created up on that

11:14 Hill we're standing in the exact spot

11:17 where ape city was constructed for the

11:18 plan of the Apes movie and right over

11:20 here is where they had the little

11:21 overpass over the road where they put

11:24 Charlton hessen in a net and dragged him

11:27 up that would be right over here to this

11:28 side

11:40 us right over here was their Coliseum I

11:40 I call it that the Coliseum area you see

11:41 it in the movie uh where they all had

11:43 all the steps that went up and they had

11:44 their meetings there kind of like a

11:46 horseshoe shaped Coliseum if you

11:52 will we should go up on the mountain and

11:52 see if there's any remnants left oh yes

11:55 of ape

12:00 City

12:00 all up in these

12:01 Hills are

12:04 remnants of the actual movie location

12:08 starting with one right there one one

12:11 big piece that's a pretty good size

12:13 chunk what they did 20th century is you

12:17 can see this wire that's here so they

12:20 basically built the city constructed it

12:23 with this wire mesh as you see shaped it

12:25 and then he went back over it with

12:27 cement as you can see cemented it and

12:29 then to another coating of to smoothing

12:32 out the cement to give it the look of

12:34 the way that ape city has but this is a

12:36 piece of ape city right here folks that

12:38 big piece right there still in the

12:41 ground after all these decades look at

12:44 this y

12:46 yeah all the cement has broken off it's

12:50 amazing even all the way at the very top

12:52 of the hill they had parts of ape City

12:55 up there and you can actually see this

12:57 rock prominently in a scene when

12:59 Charlton hon is running and he jumps

13:02 over like a little barricade there

13:05 around the little circular area the

13:06 amphitheater area and you can see this

13:08 which was actually converted into one of

13:11 the ape City Parts they actually

13:13 utilized that rock and all along there

13:17 were the edges of other parts of ape

13:18 city as

13:25 well so has the coloring on it yeah

13:31 that's a momento right there yeah that's

13:32 awesome the

13:34 Coliseum which would have been looking

13:36 down this

13:49 way does the sound of those waves sound

13:49 familiar to you well right here was

13:51 where the final scenes of the movie were

13:53 films the only problem is we have to

13:55 actually climb over those Boulders under

13:58 the other side to the little Cove area

14:00 when you see Nova and Taylor first right

14:02 up and they stop and you see a high shot

14:05 maybe it's not on top of this hill right

14:06 here there's actually some scaffolding

14:08 large scaffolding that they built and on

14:10 top of that is where they plac the

14:11 Statue of Liberty just the the crown and

14:14 the torch and you see him right up he

14:16 looks and he gets off that's right all

14:18 right here right in front of so he would

14:20 have gotten off the horse right here

14:22 looked up at the scaffold thing which

14:24 had the top of the Statue of

14:58 over pretty

14:58 cool

15:05 there were actually some horses that ran

15:05 through here repeatedly at the end of

15:07 the movie and how did they have the

15:09 horses actually run through this little

15:13 area well you didn't see it but when we

15:16 came back from the first spot we were at

15:17 we talk about the scaffolding right

15:19 behind the scaffolding there was a ramp

15:21 that went over to the other side where

15:22 the parking lot is and the ramp went all

15:25 the way across up and over here so the

15:27 horses ran along the ramp

15:37 you might be wondering where the Statue

15:38 of Liberty would have been placed

15:40 directly behind us it was actually a mat

15:42 painting and they removed part of the

15:44 mountain and the way that you can tell

15:46 is the spot let look right over here in

15:48 the water you can actually see some of

15:51 the rocks are the exact same rocks as

15:53 well as right behind me you can see the

15:55 rock formation coming down off the side

15:58 of of the mountain right behind us so

16:01 basically from right here over to the

16:04 mat painting where they actually put a

16:06 drawing and artist rendition of the

16:09 Statue of Liberty right
