0:17 on it man actually we are at the 1978

0:19 horror filming locations of the John

0:21 Carpenter classic Halloween and directly

0:24 behind us is the opening shot all right

0:26 I'm going to lay here on the ground and

0:28 get the actual shot okay you're going to

0:30 drop the leaves in front of the camera

0:32 so that we can people will think that

0:33 we're not in Southern California okay

0:36 drop the leaves here we

1:15 the the movie starts off in the pouring

1:15 rain under the shadow of Nightfall Lumis

1:18 driving straight down this road and you

1:20 can see a lot of this Barb Wire Fence

1:22 and this concrete barrier at the bottom

1:26 just trying to understand what we're

1:27 dealing with here Dr Lumis would have

1:29 arrived on site in the pouring rain he

1:31 would have looked around here and seen

1:32 all the Escape patients he would have

1:34 went over to a phone right over here

1:36 right in the corner just about he would

1:37 have picked it up there's a light

1:39 shining down that was mounted right here

1:40 and while he was busy making that phone

1:42 call Michael Myers would have jumped on

1:44 his car and stolen

1:47 it this is the road Lorie stroe lives on

1:49 in fact her house is right here but over

1:51 on this side of the road it actually

1:53 looks a lot different there's a library

1:55 here that they've actually expanded onto

1:57 so the sidewalk has changed and you can

1:59 see there's consider more cars and more

2:01 traffic through this

2:16 area hey can you drop the keys off at

2:18 the Myers house be sure to leave it

2:20 under the map

2:22 promise one thing I notice is pretty

2:24 cool check out this crack you can

2:26 actually see this in the concrete in the

2:28 1978 film when Lori walks right past

2:31 here as well as that so that and that

2:34 are actually here for over 3 and a half

2:37 decades

3:11 coming over tonight check this out this

3:11 circular little water M thing in the

3:14 middle of the road right here where

3:16 Tommy and Lori were crossing the road

3:19 before they get to the

3:20 stop painted on

3:22 the street Lori would have been crossing

3:25 the street right towards us right from

3:26 there she'd be going to the Myers house

3:28 which is right over here as you can tell

3:30 most of this area has been completely

3:31 changed in the years since the movie A

3:34 lot of the trees and the Shrubbery and

3:35 even the sidewalks have been torn out or

3:37 replaced and these houses have actually

3:39 been bulldozed and replaced by condos

3:41 now Myer's house used to actually be

3:43 located right behind me now it is all

3:45 condos and apartments that have all been

3:47 built here but where is the location of

3:50 the original Meyers house it's actually

3:54 right there do not knock on those doors

3:55 cuz you never know what might happen

3:58 Lorie Strode walk directly where we are

4:01 turning and going up to this door which

4:04 was the Meyers house door before this

4:06 building was built sliding something

4:08 underneath the door Tommy Doyle would

4:11 have been standing right here at a

4:15 decrepit sidewalk that went this way

4:17 scared to death that The Boogeyman would

4:20 get her and the way you can tell that we

4:22 are in the exact spot are those two

4:24 houses in the background this house and

4:27 this house and if you watch the movie

4:29 there is a house that looks exactly like

4:32 this one next to these two identical

4:34 houses and those two trees right there

4:37 oh yeah in the

4:47 movie never go we are standing exactly

4:47 at the original location of the Myers

4:51 house since we've now established that

4:53 the Myers house would have been across

4:55 the street the beginning of Halloween

4:57 1978's original Halloween started with

5:00 one fantastic shot behind a tree it

5:04 swoops past the darkness and actually

5:07 unveils the Meyers house what tree was

5:10 that that started the whole Halloween

5:13 phenomenon this tree right here it

5:16 started on this piece of bark This Is

5:20 Halloween history right

5:30 here splinters you're telling me that

5:30 Halloween started at this tree and then

5:33 panned over to start the movie at the

5:35 Myers

5:45 house that's what I'm telling

5:53 you a couple other ways to prove that

5:53 that's where the Meers house was is when

5:55 you're looking through the window as the

5:57 shape startles the audience and they're

6:01 looking across at this house here you

6:04 will actually notice that in the

6:06 background you can see this little

6:08 stairway this tree and of course this

6:12 water main box which is actually located

6:16 exactly

6:17 across from the window scene the screen

6:20 door scene where Michael Myers would be

6:22 staring directly at us right

6:26 now you got a staring problem

6:30 no not you I'm talking to Michael I'm

6:32 sorry I didn't mean to disturb you ma'am

6:35 as Lori walks down this sidewalk which

6:37 has been redone she starts to sing that

6:40 song I wish I had you all

6:44 alone Just the Two of Us wish I you all

6:56 Al then you can actually

6:56 see a sign very similar

6:59 to that railroad crossing sign up there

7:02 on the left off to the left of where she

7:04 is

7:15 walking we are now at the spot where

7:15 Lumis makes the phone call at the pay

7:17 phone and also discovers the truck and

7:20 finds the rabbit in red matchbook cover

7:23 and you can tell this whole area has

7:24 actually grown up a lot since the late'

7:26 70s when they filmed the movie but you

7:28 can see that this was the Crossroads and

7:30 the power lines back there are still the

7:32 same and if you actually pan this way

7:35 the foam Booth would have been right

7:37 about in this area here and then Luma

7:40 says it's your funeral comes out of the

7:42 foam booth and actually walk towards the

7:45 truck that's actually right here on the

7:47 right hand side and you can see this

7:50 building off to the left as well as some

7:52 of the power lines down there that still

7:54 look exactly the same this pole is one

7:56 of two poles that you could see in the

7:57 original shot just to the right of it

8:00 would have been the truck this is the

8:01 exact spot where the truck would have

8:04 been why are you yelling are you excited

8:07 I am lumus would have reached down

8:09 picked up the rabbit in red matchbook

8:12 what he doesn't realize is there's

8:13 actually a dead body right

8:16 there who runs

8:23 off this is the spot the actual

8:23 Elementary School where Tommy would have

8:24 been walking along with the pumpkin

8:25 those bullies tripped him he smashed his

8:27 pumpkin the interesting thing right here

8:29 is Adam's actually parked in the exact

8:31 spot where the shape would have been

8:33 parked right around there right outside

8:35 the elementary school let's take a

8:36 closer

8:41 look how wi pumpkin right behind that

8:46 gate is where one of the bullies runs

8:47 down shape grabs him and the cool thing

8:50 is that

8:52 this metal pole walkway that actually

8:56 heads down the stairs is actually the

8:57 same from the movie

9:04 the shape follows along the chain link

9:04 fence which has now been changed to this

9:06 more sturdy and durable fence the tree

9:09 you're looking at was actually in the

9:11 movie and Tommy walked over in the

9:14 distance straight over there around the

9:16 corner and out through the gate and

9:19 walks along the side of this building

9:22 while the shape follows along in his car

9:25 you can actually see the windows all

9:26 look the same and the hedges underneath

9:29 the windows look exactly the same which

9:31 is cool considering it's been decades

9:34 the flag pole still there and very

9:37 unusual this weird round cylinder thing

9:41 you can actually see that in the movie

9:42 as well although this real life

9:44 Elementary School was also used in the

9:46 movie as a high school this would have

9:48 been where Lori was sitting in class

9:50 where she looked out this window right

9:53 across the street to about where that

9:55 white car is now and saw the shape

10:00 different from that you can see it's

10:01 changed dramatically over the last few

10:03 decades they've actually added this

10:05 basement garage down there and they've

10:07 actually resurfaced this house but

10:09 Michael Myers would have been standing

10:10 right there and the way you can tell

10:12 this is the exact spot is this house was

10:14 actually there in 1978 and take a look

10:17 at that air conditioner unit in the

10:19 movie it was in that window maybe that

10:23 house cools down better if you slide

10:25 over the air conditioner one window

10:29 who knew the high school looks a little

10:31 bit different now than it did back in

10:33 the late '70s they built this whole new

10:35 awning around the front and you might

10:37 think this could might possibly be the

10:39 high school where the girls walked out

10:41 to walk home but it is I assure you they

10:43 built some stairs here and it's actually

10:45 elevated since it was when the movie was

10:47 filmed but if you look straight down

10:49 here this might actually look familiar

10:51 where the girls were walking away from

10:54 class they turned and walked past these

10:58 doors and straight off this direction

11:00 and the thing that's cool is these

11:02 bricks that are right here are still the

11:04 same bricks that were in the movie and

11:06 they were lockers all along this side

11:09 they would have walked this direction

11:12 passing these double doors you can

11:14 actually see the haddenfield sign which

11:17 would have been right here and it looks

11:18 considerably different

11:20 totally and the only real way to tell

11:23 that this is the spot are these houses

11:25 this house is exactly the same but the

11:27 most unusual one that you can actually

11:29 line the shot up too is this one over

11:32 here in the corner this house with this

11:34 very unusual odd shaped window up top so

11:37 the haddenfield high school sign would

11:39 have been right here with those three

11:40 houses behind the

11:48 sign so then this would have been the

11:48 exact spot that Lori and Linda would

11:51 have come from when they left school

11:52 they would have come right around this

11:53 corner to walk home it's a dead giveaway

11:56 that it's the spot because this little

11:57 rock wall stack at you corner and this

12:00 tree look almost exactly the same it's

12:02 like walking right through cinematic

12:04 history I not smiling I'm never smiling

12:07 again as the girls walk up this driveway

12:10 they suddenly realize that they are

12:11 being followed and there is a car

12:13 turning the corner and from this exact

12:16 spot all this was grown up with foliage

12:19 here and over there and around the

12:21 corner comes the shape and he's driving

12:23 a car

12:33 hey

12:33 Jerk speed kills hey Jerk speed

12:44 kills you can see where over time

12:44 they've actually cut down some of the

12:47 limbs that actually were seen in the

12:49 movie both of those limbs have been

12:51 removed and of course the most famous

12:54 limb was actually right here and you

12:57 could see where the limb protruded

13:00 right out of there and it went across

13:03 the sidewalk as the girls walk

13:05 underneath it and around it and head

13:08 down the road oh come on Annie Bob and I

13:11 been planning on it all week all right

13:14 the walles leave at 700 I'm babysitting

13:17 the doy it's only three houses down we

13:19 can keep each other company oh terrific

13:21 I've got three choices watch the kids

13:24 sleep listen to Linda screw around or

13:26 talk to you

13:31 you'll notice when the girls cross the

13:31 street on both sides of the street it's

13:33 littered with Ivy and red brick of

13:35 course it's been nearly 40 years since

13:37 they filmed that movie it's been a

13:38 little gentrified a little cleaned up

13:40 but you can still see a couple remnants

13:42 of the Ivy and then just over here the

13:45 last little speck of red brick what was

13:48 John Carpenter like

14:01 Lori Linda and Annie continue to walk

14:01 home down this route towards the Hedge

14:03 Linda stops about right here to go to

14:05 her house she steps up through the yard

14:07 into there and Lori and Annie actually

14:09 continue walking on when Lori sees

14:20 something hey

14:22 creep oh Lori dear Lori dear he wants to

14:26 take you out

14:27 tonight he wants to take you out tonight

14:31 after they realize there's nothing to be

14:32 seen on the side of the Hedge they start

14:34 walking towards Annie's but watch the

14:35 movie and you can actually see over the

14:37 top of that hedge there are actually two

14:39 young men who are actually enthralled

14:41 with the filming of Halloween and

14:43 they're actually peeking their head Over

14:44 the Hedge standing on that porch did you

14:47 ever notice that after they pass the

14:49 second hedge Annie actually walks

14:51 directly towards her house and Lori

14:53 continues to walk looking back at the

14:56 two Hedges very confused and actually

14:58 right here bumps into Sheriff

15:21 bracket all right is that good is it

15:21 terrifying

15:22 enough hopefully it's terrifying enough

15:24 the people watch this are completely

15:26 scared to death right up this hill is

15:29 where Judith Myers would have been

15:30 buried Dr Luma shows up with a cemetery

15:33 caretaker they pull right up here and

15:35 find that her headstone has been

15:49 removed it's right over

15:49 here Myers julith Myers I remember her

15:53 couldn't believe it such a young boy as

15:56 they walk through the cemetery they're

15:58 looking for The Headstone in the grave

16:00 why they always do it he's gosh Dar kids

16:04 why do they do it the head Stone's gone

16:07 The Headstone was right here they do

16:09 anything for Halloween they would have

16:11 dug a hole right here in the ground

16:13 symbolizing The Headstone of Judith

16:15 Meers that of course Michael Myers

16:18 removed and right here is where Luma

16:20 says that famous line he came home

16:31 so as we talked about the original Myers

16:31 house was just right down the street

16:33 right there and most of those houses

16:34 were demolished but luckily the Myers

16:36 house was moved just about a block away

16:39 right here where we're standing now it's

16:41 really crazy to think that all those

16:43 other houses were destroyed but somehow

16:45 this one is the one there remains is it

16:48 a

16:49 coincidence or is it a Halloween

16:56 Miracle as the movie starts you see the

16:56 house and in the window of the front

16:58 door you see the sister and her

17:00 boyfriend making out and then they move

17:02 into this front living room here on the

17:05 bottom floor this window is completely

17:07 open there is no drape and you see on

17:09 the couch them sitting and kissing and

17:12 they decided to go up the stairs and up

17:15 to the top bedroom you see the light

17:18 turn off in the front window signaling

17:21 the fact that they are actually doing

17:24 something in the dark they should not be

17:25 doing this does not please Michael Myers

17:28 as a child so he actually goes around

17:31 the very back of the house he walks in

17:35 immediately to the right grabs a knife

17:37 out of the kitchen drawer and then heads

17:40 up the stairs

18:11 trick or treat trick orre kiddo thought

18:11 you had GRE

18:13 Superstition the people that live in the

18:15 St house now are actually really really

18:16 nice they leave pumpkins on their front

18:18 porch all year long so you can just go

18:20 grab one and recreate the scenes right

18:22 here on the street

18:35 it's kind of interesting in a little bit

18:35 of Hollywood trickery but when Lorie is

18:38 looking at the trick-or-treaters down

18:39 this way she's actually looking at the

18:41 houses that are in view from this house

18:43 but when she looks to her left and looks

18:45 that way she's actually looking at a

18:47 street that is Miles Away who

18:55 knew when Annie picks up Lori there's

18:55 two different segments of Road they

18:56 drive on this is the first segment if

18:58 pass by this house in this intersection

19:00 and the shape is following them is that

19:03 the shape you can still watch it's

19:05 probably all he can do as they approach

19:07 the hardware store you'll notice the

19:08 tree on the right is the same tree from

19:10 the shot and the building over to the

19:13 far left is the same also this little

19:16 rock formation there in the middle you

19:17 can also see as they drive down this

19:19 road and take a look at this right here

19:21 on the ground used to

19:23 be the manhole cover to the sewers that

19:26 has actually been covered up you can

19:28 actually see where they have concreted

19:30 over the manhole cover now that's pretty

19:33 cool behind us is the hardware store

19:35 this is where Annie and Lori actually

19:37 were smoking they got startled because

19:39 Annie's father Sheriff bracket was

19:41 actually right over here at the hardware

19:43 store which got robbed it's now a

19:44 restaurant the car pulled up they had a

19:46 conversation with Annie's dad right

19:48 there then they drive off Lumis is

19:50 actually parked right over there as well

19:52 walks up to talk to sheriff bracket as

19:54 Sheriff bracket goes back into the

19:55 hardware store Lumis is standing over

19:57 there looking very be wiered and

19:59 confused and he does not realize that

20:01 right here in this car Lane is Michael

20:04 Myers pulls out into traffic and drives

20:06 straight off behind

20:17 him Sheriff bracket we're looking for

20:17 you the second section where Annie and

20:21 Lori are driving at night is actually

20:23 down this road and this was kind of a

20:25 hidden spot to Halloween fans for a long

20:27 time the the way you can tell it is the

20:29 road is because of the kind of like the

20:32 rainwater drainage area that is here in

20:35 the middle and of course they're driving

20:37 off as the sun is going down off in the

20:40 Horizon the unusual thing is as it dead

20:43 ends up here we'll

20:46 actually turn to the right and the very

20:49 next shot is actually back on the road

20:52 we were just

20:54 on Hollywood craziness

21:21 ah the sights and sounds in the hubub of

21:23 Sunset Boulevard who would have thought

21:26 that Haden Field Illinois the small

21:28 community and the final scenes the

21:32 babysitter houses are actually right

21:34 down this road a veritable Stones throw

21:38 away from all

21:42 this this is

21:45 it the road where it all

21:55 happened does that sound anything like

21:55 the theme song well more or less enough

21:58 to not enough to get sued even though

22:00 it's assumed that Lumis is actually on

22:02 the same streets as the babysitter

22:03 houses at the end of the film he's

22:05 actually a couple miles over on this

22:07 road Lumis would have been walking right

22:09 along next to this tree Sheriff bracket

22:12 would have actually pulled up almost

22:14 hitting lumus who would have been

22:15 standing right about here you can

22:18 actually see the trees the same and that

22:21 wooden fence back in the background it's

22:23 dark out here it's a little hard to tell

22:24 but lumus would have come out right

22:25 there right next to the tree and the

22:27 parking sign you can see the red paint

22:29 leading up to the sign is exactly the

22:31 same as it is in the film you would come

22:32 out you would see kids running and

22:34 screaming out of this house but the

22:35 funny thing is it's not this house it's

22:38 a totally different house on a totally

22:40 different

22:41 street

22:56 weird behind me are the exteriors of

22:56 Tommy Doyle's house looks very similar

22:58 as did in the movie including the brick

23:00 pillars the trees and of course the

23:02 balcony on the top floor but the

23:04 Interiors for Tommy Doyles were actually

23:07 not inside this house where were those

23:09 exactly directly across the street at

23:13 this house right here now I want you to

23:15 notice something in the movie when they

23:17 walk in the doyle house it's actually a

23:19 large gap between the door and the

23:21 window that Tommy doy's standing behind

23:23 the curtain saying Lindsay Lindsay that

23:27 is because it was actually filmed in the

23:29 Interiors here you can see the front

23:31 door and the massive gap between the

23:33 window unlike the exterior shots which

23:36 are right across the street right over

23:39 here where the door and the window are

23:41 super close to each other very

23:48 interesting behind me now is actually

23:48 Lindsay's house they've actually

23:50 remodeled it quite a bit it used to not

23:52 have a garage it just had an overhang

23:54 carport but this is actually the house

23:57 where a lot of the action happen

23:58 happened and also when Annie brought

24:00 Lindsay over to meet Tommy Doyle while

24:02 Annie tried to go off and visit her

24:04 boyfriend and then got stabbed to death

24:06 in her car all that happened here at

24:09 least the exteriors the Interiors

24:11 however once again were not inside this

24:15 house the Interiors were actually at

24:17 that house right there now notice in the

24:20 movie every time that someone walks into

24:22 Lindsay's house they walk in the front

24:24 door and immediately to the right is a

24:26 living room how is that possible because

24:28 looking at the exterior there is just a

24:30 wall there is no living room why because

24:33 the living room is actually right over

24:37 here the Interiors in the living room

24:39 that PJ souls and her boyfriend were on

24:41 the couch and Lindsay was watching TV

24:44 were right in there there were a

24:45 combination and a total of four

24:47 babysitter houses not two as most people

24:50 assume that the movie shows four total

24:54 houses interiors and Exteriors

25:03 that about covers it we have hit all the

25:03 Halloween filming locations from

25:05 Halloween 1978 the John Carpenter
