0:03 welcome everyone Adam the woo here
0:03 today's adventure begins by looking at
0:05 this placard here on the ground that
0:07 states the gamble house I am in Pasadena
0:12 California you might
0:15 recognize this very impressive structure
0:17 from Back to the Future it was the
0:21 fictional home of Doc
0:24 Brown played by Christopher Lloyd and
0:26 the garage is right over there now I
0:28 chose the spot to do the intro because
0:31 I'm going to head over to the next town
0:34 south of here known as South Pasadena
0:37 which holds a special special place in
0:40 my heart because there are so many
0:43 filming locations of
0:45 the80s
0:47 persuasion and I'm I grew up in the 80s
0:50 it's born in
0:51 1974 so when this movie came out back to
0:53 the future I would have been 11 years
0:55 old in
0:56 1985 and rented a lot of VHS a lot of
1:01 video store rentals from the early ' 80s
1:04 to the late ' 80s that would be my
1:05 favorite genre of film now I do kind of
1:07 dip into the 70s and into the '90s and
1:10 then you know since then a few here and
1:12 there but I am all about the 1980s and
1:15 South
1:16 Pasadena is a plethora a treasure Trove
1:20 of these spots some of them I have
1:23 covered some of them I have not some in
1:25 very great detail now a little
1:27 disclaimer this will not be a deep dive
1:29 into every single nook and cranny of
1:32 some of these films that I'm going to be
1:34 showing the spots from but I thought as
1:36 a recording of this it is a Sunday let
1:39 me check the
1:40 date Sunday July 25th
1:44 2021 headed up from Orange County there
1:46 was very little traffic side note a
1:48 little Insider tip if you will there's
1:50 not a lot of traffic on Sunday mornings
1:52 in Southern California this is a good
1:54 time to do this and you should be able
1:56 to cover all these spots within a couple
1:58 of hours that I'm going to show starting
2:00 now it's almost 11:00 a.m. I'm going to
2:02 get going just heading a few miles into
2:04 South pasaden I'm inviting you to join
2:07 me shall you and I also thought it'd be
2:10 a neat idea anyone that's visiting the
2:12 Greater Los Angeles area can just zip
2:15 over to this section yeah it looks very
2:17 familiar a bttf doesn't it and do this
2:21 tour either on their own in their own
2:24 car or just watch this just watch this
2:26 video and you can just see how close
2:28 proximity a lot of these spots will be
2:30 this is the only spot that I will be
2:32 showing that is not going to be in South
2:35 Pasadena they are all going to be in
2:37 that same
2:39 town let me get going file this one
2:42 under casual tour presented by myself
2:46 Adam the
2:48 woo I don't know if that's really a I
2:51 guess you could call it casual tour a
2:52 non-specific non-detailed
2:55 explanation of how close proximity
2:58 everything is I feel like I have a
2:59 pretty good handle on this area covered
3:01 a lot of subject matters in great detail
3:04 over the years and know this vicinity I
3:07 want to say like the back of my hand but
3:08 I know it pretty well also going to give
3:11 some time stamps it's currently almost
3:13 11:00 a.m. 2 minutes to 11: might as
3:16 well start off with the obvious right
3:18 here next to the train tracks on Mission
3:21 Street I am passing by the original
3:24 Halloween John Carpenter's Halloween
3:26 house the Meers house
3:29 the Metro Rail going
3:45 by this a good starting point in my
3:45 opinion the Meers house really needs no
3:48 introduction this will be the focal
3:50 point I'm just going to show some other
3:51 stuff that's within a mile or two of
3:55 this iconic
3:56 structure in fact right behind this is a
4:00 little pretty and Pink Spot located near
4:02 the corner of Hope Street and Meridian I
4:05 say near the corner because it's only
4:08 half a block up just past the alleyway
4:11 and this Alleyway up here was also used
4:14 in Halloween 2 the
4:18 sequel so if you pass by the Halloween 2
4:21 alley you will see Andy's house played
4:24 by Molly
4:25 ringwall and pretty and pink Molly
4:27 Ringwald pretty and pink just just be
4:29 careful not to run into Michael Myers
4:32 down there I do not
4:34 want to see him now over the years they
4:38 have erected this fence here but I do
4:41 believe the
4:42 Interiors for pretty and pink were right
4:44 inside
5:21 view if you had a parking lot or if you
5:21 had a parking lot if you had a bicycle
5:23 you could ride around in what is now a
5:24 parking lot and recreate
5:28 ducky ducky moment when he was looking
5:30 at the house next to the train tracks
5:32 there's the house right over
5:35 there again nothing of which I'm showing
5:37 is going to be groundbreaking or hasn't
5:39 been shown
5:40 before but the proximity everything in
5:44 Pasadena it's a pretty interesting
5:46 subject
5:49 matter including this building up here
5:51 which used to be a hotel corner of
5:53 mission was seen in a lot of Productions
6:11 waiting on the
6:11 shrine which way is it going
6:13 from there it
6:23 is if you've seen Step Brothers there
6:25 was a a quick scene right in here where
6:28 will farell John C Riley were
6:32 talking with that background behind it
6:35 also television show step by step the
6:37 intro was right through here the family
6:40 drove pretty much following these same
6:43 cars right past the South pass
6:46 Historical Museum and the house is just
6:49 a block a couple blocks from here a mile
6:51 or so from here as well from that show
6:54 also on Mission
7:00 Street back in the day you could have
7:00 seen the wolf mobile cruising right down
7:03 this section with
7:05 Styles behind the wheel Michael J fox
7:09 playing Teen Wolf up on top doing some
7:12 cartwheels this rat's holding a sign
7:15 says get in
7:17 here that's pretty interesting this
7:20 whole stretch has been used in quite a
7:22 few
7:24 things hardware store Mr Howard's
7:27 hardware store was right up here on the
7:30 left and right on the end a scene from
7:33 Mr Deeds Adam Sandler and wona Ryder
7:37 we're right inside this
7:39 Pharmacy which she's recognized from her
7:42 youth by some of the Town folk right on
7:44 the corner of mission and pH Oaks
7:46 celebrating over a hundred years at this
7:50 location still looks the same still uh
7:53 still a soda fountain as
7:55 well because it is currently Sunday they
7:58 are closed
8:01 but check it
8:03 out still has the bar there the soda
8:05 fountain bar and
8:07 everything
8:10 nice also should mention just kind of
8:13 covering things I know a lot about there
8:16 will be there will be some subject
8:17 matters and a lot of things that were
8:19 filmed here that I'm not going to
8:21 mention I'm not going to give a broad
8:23 spectrum just going to show what I'm
8:24 very very familiar
8:26 with a personalized tour
8:30 in la la land the
8:32 Rialto was utilized but not just that
8:35 that would probably be the most recent
8:37 that I could pinpoint out but dating
8:40 back to screen 2 the sequel this entire
8:44 building was utilized the interiors and
8:49 exteriors for the premiere of of
8:52 stab also used as the Interiors inside
8:55 here for Michael Jackson's Thriller
8:58 Exteriors were in Downtown
9:01 LA but the
9:03 Interiors you may have seen you know the
9:06 the photo or the meme of him chowing
9:09 down on the popcorn or if you've seen
9:11 the music
9:16 video right inside
9:16 here and he's watching the movie in the
9:24 Rialto and it's right here on Oxley
9:24 Street which there's a couple other
9:26 spots on Oxley
9:29 in close vicinity I just love that old
9:31 theater I was lucky enough a couple
9:33 Halloweens ago on Halloween night I went
9:35 to South Pasadena which was quite an
9:38 experience to say the least and they
9:40 were doing a little maintenance little
9:41 Construction in there and one of the
9:43 workers let me in and go and just get a
9:44 little peek I saw it with my own eyes
9:47 could not figure out exactly what seat
9:49 Michael was sitting in but it was pretty
9:50 cool to be in there from Scream 2 and
9:53 from Thriller and as I drive down Oxley
10:08 place it's kind of find a place to park
10:08 and Rob Zombie also used this
10:10 neighborhood for his
10:20 remake that it's pretty cool to swing by
10:20 here and get the J Lee Curtis angle
10:36 also on a side note over here is a
10:36 little placard that has to do with
10:40 Halloween my gosh look at these little
11:00 doggies the in Interiors of this
11:00 building has been used many many times
11:01 for Productions as well many many times
11:05 countless Productions including Rob
11:07 Zombies version and just two short
11:10 blocks
11:11 away is the Strode house from the
11:15 Remake oh wait not the stro house the
11:17 Myers house got confused for a minute
11:19 the Myers house from the Remake which is
11:22 used specifically for television and
11:24 movie production it is not a personal
11:27 residence
11:33 me pull over here in park but the thing
11:33 I wanted to point out is another usage
11:36 of this my so-called life the TV series
11:39 CLA Danes Jared
11:45 Leto this was the family's
11:45 home right
11:47 here so not just use
11:51 for you know Rob Zombies franchise
11:54 but also for my so-called
11:57 life and across the street this house
12:01 was also
12:02 used for the
12:13 neighbor soothing sounds of the train
12:13 going by in the distance all of it
12:15 within kind of ear view
12:17 of the metro rail
12:32 South Pasadena got to love it wonder if
12:32 some of the neighbors I'm sure the
12:34 neighbors realize there's lots of
12:35 filming some of the houses and they may
12:37 even be paid for some of the houses to
12:40 be used in Productions this whole area
12:43 constantly is being utilized for filming
12:46 but do you think those on this street
12:47 have any idea that this is Jordan
12:49 Catalano stomping
12:57 ground doubtful drove a little less than
12:57 a mile probably an eighth of a mile to
12:59 the corner of Edgewood and Milan the
13:02 1992
13:04 film
13:06 Beethoven which spawned many many
13:08 sequels the house from the first
13:11 film was right over here and it looks
13:15 exactly the same as it did including the
13:18 the pole here the light pole the
13:21 sidewalk the
13:22 trees the little awning the
13:25 windows everything the
13:28 same wow pretty dang
13:37 cool there was even a moment that they
13:37 show the houses across the way
13:40 here when the mail lady is inserting the
13:43 mail in the in the door slot you can see
13:45 that that tree that is
13:52 angled Charles
13:52 groden I believe he recently
13:56 passed I remember him from one of the
13:58 Muppet movies was Muppet Take Manhattan
14:00 he was in classic I stand in corrected
14:02 got to thinking about it looked it up it
14:04 was the great Muppet Caper just trying
14:06 to go off most of this from memory and
14:08 you know the general vicinity but
14:10 sometimes your brain says I think you're
14:12 incorrect and I was had to look it up
14:15 great Muppet Caper not Muppets tap
14:18 Manhattan which is another another
14:20 classic moving on just another block
14:23 block or two away on the same road on
14:26 Milan this home was used in fairis bu's
14:29 day off now most of it took place up in
14:33 Chicago where John Hughes was from but
14:36 there were one or two in the Greater Los
14:38 Angeles area including the back of this
14:41 home for the sunbathing scene when
14:44 Ferris is running trying to get back to
14:46 his house cuts through a backyard it was
14:49 this backyard in South
14:51 Pasadena kind of jumps between the two
14:53 girls goes back and shakes one of their
14:55 hands and introduces
14:56 himself yep
14:59 who knew corner of mission in Fremont is
15:02 this
15:03 Kos stood in for big buns and Terminator
15:07 that's right Sak I'm looking for Sak I
15:10 was told she was here can I see her
15:12 please
15:51 another familiar street I'm
15:51 approaching recognizable
15:54 from you know other Productions have to
15:57 turn onto Highland
16:00 and not to point out the obious going to
16:01 show another spot up here that a lot
16:05 might not realize is on the same
16:23 Road featured in Jim car's Liar
16:23 Liar there's the house right
16:26 there covered that in great detail
16:28 before but but I always like to point
16:30 that out some might not
16:32 realize that it's
16:35 located next to
16:38 some from some horror
16:40 franchises next door
16:48 neighbors Maximillian if you recall in
16:48 peewee's big adventure when Paul Rubin
16:52 playing
16:53 Peewee also a corner of
16:55 Oxley and Milan
16:59 he wrecks his bike which I know a lot
17:01 about
17:02 that don't take it down any sweet slides
17:04 which he didn't but he hit this curb
17:06 flipped over into the yard I meant to do
17:09 that that was located next to his
17:13 fictional home right here on
17:16 Oxley same
17:23 corner I know you are but what am I I
17:23 know you are but what am I I know you
17:26 are but what am I I know you are but
17:27 what am I I know you are but what am I
17:29 Infinity no I'm not you
17:39 are so dang cool now if you ever make
17:39 the trk the
17:40 pilgrimage to the Peewee house don't
17:43 stop here after getting a photo walk
17:46 down one block that direction for a
17:50 couple of other iconic
17:52 spots yeah everything's in the same
17:55 general
18:00 vicinity in the the same vicinity yep
18:00 one block corner of Oxley and
18:52 there and as I've stated very familiar
18:52 landmarks through this
18:54 town Focus not on some of those that are
18:58 very famili and
19:00 obvious but upon the ones that might not
19:02 be quite as obvious like the Mama's
19:06 Family home from the TV sitcom right
19:22 television I believe in that intro the
19:22 opening credit sequence with the theme
19:25 song she came out here picked up the
19:27 paper and walked back
19:30 in pretty much looks the same all these
19:33 decades
19:40 later also pay no attention to whatever
19:40 or whoever pops out from behind that
19:41 hedge that's yeah that's n of our
19:49 concern not too far away have commuted
19:49 to Fletcher a probably about another
19:52 half mile to a mile a mile give or
20:00 take the sitcom step by step starring
20:00 Suzanne
20:01 Summers who was in one of my favorite
20:03 sitcoms of all time thre
20:05 company which was filmed you know around
20:07 Santa Monica and that at least the
20:10 exteriors were but here in South
20:12 Pasadena she went on to do the show step
20:15 by step and they use this Homestead this
20:17 facade was used as the intro and for you
20:21 know shots in between different scenes
20:24 and whatnot when it aired I kind of
20:26 considered it at that time a modern
20:30 a modern version of The Brady Bunch not
20:32 precisely but kind of similar with the
20:34 melding of two
20:36 families okay got one more Street to go
20:38 to with with a lot of places on that
20:41 road heading over there now commuted
20:44 just a block or two over to the corner
20:46 of
20:47 Huntington and Bushnell
20:50 Avenue oh yes
21:01 while I am familiar with all the spots
21:01 I've gone to I am most familiar with
21:05 this road and here many
21:13 times iconic if I were to wager if I
21:13 were a beding man I would say every
21:16 single house on this block has been used
21:20 in something whether it be a car
21:23 commercial any other sort of commercial
21:25 a TV ad newspaper ad
21:29 photography magazines feature films
21:32 movies television shows all the just one
21:36 this one block of Bushnell starting
21:39 there on Huntington and going this way
21:41 the many times over the years you know
21:43 seven or eight years that I've been
21:45 occasionally stopping off here when I'm
21:46 in this area always seems to be
21:49 something happening one of the houses is
21:51 kind of tapered off for filming or there
21:53 are signs saying no parking because
21:55 they're sing doing some sort of Drive
21:59 drive you know angle or whatnot car
22:02 commercials
22:04 especially because I do not know the
22:06 history of every
22:08 single building and facade and home I'm
22:11 going to just pinpoint the ones out that
22:12 I have locked up here in the top of my
22:15 head that I know very well oh yeah push
22:18 now really can see why it's
22:20 chosen to be utilized and put on camera
22:24 so
22:30 much by location Scouts which should be
22:30 an interesting job to be a location
22:32 Scouts try to figure out where things
22:34 are going to be
22:40 filmed now in bttf Back to the Future
22:40 they covered up these palm trees and
22:41 they do that with a lot of films they're
22:43 trying to put in the midwest or to keep
22:46 it vague they will put wrapping of
22:48 foliage around the palm trees just to
22:51 confuse just to confuse the viewer now
22:54 over here was Biff's Grandma's house
22:58 part two of Back to the
23:01 Future going to get my car
23:09 grandma and of course the
23:09 tree up here George McFly climbed up
23:12 into which is located right there and
23:15 just across the way from Lorraine's
23:18 house which is the one on the far right
23:21 about Biff through the the ball up top
23:24 on that little balcony but this was also
23:26 used in old school with with will frell
23:29 they had the party in the backyard and
23:31 will farell did a little streaking right
23:34 down through
23:36 here right underneath the M the George
23:39 McFly tree now fun fact next to the old
23:42 school
23:43 house was the's house and back to the
23:46 future but it was also using teenwolf
23:50 and Michael J fox was filming Teen Wolf
23:53 when Eric stz played Marty McFly on this
23:57 very road before Eric Stoltz was removed
24:01 and Michael J fox took over so Michael J
24:04 fox did two movies in probably a year
24:07 span here on Bushnell Teen Wolf and Back
24:10 to the Future pretty cool right
24:14 oh that gentleman's riding in the same
24:16 area that Doc Brown maybe he's going
24:19 back there to the garage at Biff's
24:20 Grandma's house I've never really had
24:22 the the gumption to climb up in this but
24:25 I know others that
24:26 have go up onto to the
24:29 branch now this Branch some assume that
24:32 it's this branch that George climbed up
24:35 on there crisen Glover climbed up on but
24:37 I do believe it was this one they make
24:40 you think that he climbed up that Branch
24:42 there but then when they are kind of
24:45 filming it from low down here it's this
24:47 branch that he is
24:54 on of
24:54 course laying down right there in the
24:56 road
25:03 was Michael J
25:03 fox how many years ago there was an
25:06 inscription over here see if it's still
25:08 here oh yeah check it
25:10 out still
25:13 here barely can see
25:23 it right
25:23 there Back to the
25:26 Future filmed here
25:30 1985 very faintly o this route right
25:33 here looks like a looks like a crocodile
25:36 head doesn't
25:42 it down the way just a bit was where
25:42 George McFly's house was
25:45 fictionally and the 30-some house the
25:48 television show 30s something was
25:50 directly across from George mcfli here
25:53 it is I only watched a few episodes of
25:55 that show for some reason it slipped
25:57 past my radar
25:58 but I do know one of the guys in the
26:00 show was also in field of dreams and I
26:02 love the movie Field of Dreams Kevin
26:04 cner and this is the
26:06 house and as far as proximity goes from
26:09 the 30-some
26:12 house science fiction theater George
26:15 McFly that laundry scene is in the back
26:18 of this house as
26:20 well you're not going to be picking a
26:22 fight dad dad dad dad Daddyo and if you
26:26 stop off here to see the BTT
26:29 spots which a lot do and you want to
26:32 visit a a very deep
26:34 cut down here at the end of the block on
26:37 Bush now two homes used in ghost
26:41 ad not a lot of seen that one it's kind
26:45 of like Leonard part
26:47 six another
26:50 Cosby but not a lot of saying but if you
26:53 have seen ghost ad and you want to see
26:55 both the homes as they were fictionally
26:57 shown to be neighbors they are neighbors
27:00 in real life both of these houses showed
27:01 up on film here at the end of Bushnell
27:04 ghost ad those houses might be might be
27:10 haunted a lot of history here South
27:18 Pasadena all within a a couple of miles
27:18 a series of
27:24 blocks and I can see why thing about
27:24 South Pasadena it sits in for a lot of
27:28 different places around the country you
27:30 never really know you never doesn't
27:33 really feel like Southern California
27:34 here in South pass in a lot of ways you
27:39 think you're in the midwest which I
27:40 think is why directors and producers and
27:43 you
27:44 know location Scouts utilize this area
27:49 because it doesn't really have an LA
27:51 Vibe even though it's in the greater
27:52 suburb Los Angeles area you wouldn't
27:55 look at this and think oh that's La
27:57 unless knew
28:04 beforehand right at least that's how I
28:04 feel oh yeah walking through some movie
28:08 history there I don't know of any other
28:10 Road really that has this much of stuff
28:13 that I am familiar with now a lot of
28:15 other roads will have one or two spots
28:17 but this has a numerous amount of houses
28:20 and it's all it feels like I'm in the
28:22 movies walking through here which is
28:24 pretty dang cool and not you or anyone
28:27 else on this planet is going to make me
28:30 change my
28:36 mind just two houses down from
28:36 lra which is weird he was climbing up in
28:38 the tree I mean they're neighbors
28:40 probably sees her every day he could
28:42 just easily have a conversation with
28:44 her you know there's his home there's
28:48 George's and there's Lorraine's also the
28:50 Teen Wolf
28:52 house yep two movies that I really love
28:56 on the same street within a year of each
28:59 other mid 880s about five or six years
29:01 ago I passed through here and this home
29:03 right here was for sale I looked it up
29:06 definitely out of my price range and I
29:07 would say that's
29:09 probably probably not one of the nicer
29:11 ones on this
29:13 block if you really want to really kick
29:16 in the pants look up some of the houses
29:19 in South Pasadena
29:22 woo yeah Biff's
29:25 grandma she was wealthy
29:31 one other fun
29:31 fact they did film part of part two when
29:36 Michael J fox is walking across there
29:38 and he's looking at the binoculars at
29:39 Biff's Grandma's house they didn't they
29:42 didn't record it on that side of the
29:43 road they used the universal Backlot so
29:47 they didn't they didn't actually have
29:48 him over there which is strange they
29:51 might not have got permission from those
29:54 neighbors fun fact that's going to do it
29:57 for for
29:59 today 2 hours it took exactly 2 hours I
30:02 just looked at my phone it is now
30:05 precisely 1:00 p.m. started at 11:00
30:09 ended at 1 2 hours was not in a rush
30:13 very slow pace anyone could have their
30:16 car do what I just did as the recording
30:19 of this it is a Sunday so not a lot of
30:21 traffic but once you kind of up here out
30:22 of the greater LA area a a suburb way
30:25 way away traffic's not too bad in in
30:27 this area no matter what day of the week
30:28 it is you could go he could hit all the
30:31 spots that I did in 2 hours a lot of 80s
30:34 early '90s some late 70s mostly 80s
30:39 spots at least a dozen or more call this
30:43 the
30:44 80s South Pasadita tour there are a lot
30:47 of other spots I did not show but I
30:49 wanted to want show the ones that I kind
30:51 of know have a special place in my heart
30:53 and I know really well just from years
30:54 of visiting this area hope you enjoyed
30:56 it I'll see you in the next video the
30:58 Vlog is
31:05 over for real though isn't this a
31:05 beautiful area
