0:04 today's adventure brings us to 2491
0:04 babb road to the pioneer village at
0:06 shingle creek
0:08 the last time i was here a few months
0:09 ago it was at the beginning of the
0:12 closures
0:13 and i was not able to gain access to the
0:16 property
0:18 but i'm back i'm back
0:22 welcome everyone adam the woo here at
0:25 one point
0:26 this premises was located on the
0:28 opposite side of highway
0:30 192 near medieval times behind
0:34 super walmart but a few years ago
0:37 they transferred some of the buildings
0:39 and added more
0:40 over to this area next to shingle creek
0:45 it's been maybe the third or fourth time
0:48 that i have been to the establishment in
0:51 general
0:53 now last time i just walked around the
0:55 exterior and
0:56 the perimeter but it's been a few years
1:00 i'm going to dive deep into some of the
1:02 history
1:03 i'm inviting you to join me shall you
1:07 look at him looks to be that tampa j has
1:09 arrived what's up everyone
1:11 wearing a sweet burt reynolds tee yeah
1:14 i like that have you ever been out here
1:16 before jay no it's my first time
1:18 see last time i was in florida a few
1:20 months ago it was it was the closures
1:22 were happening
1:23 so i just had to write i had to see it
1:25 from a distance
1:26 right and now it's it's open it's back
1:28 open a lot of space out here
1:30 it's like stepping back in time
1:34 well it's not like stepping back in time
1:36 it really is
1:38 stepping back so i'm stepping forward
1:40 i'm walking
1:41 so i'm going up here to the
1:47 the main office where you purchase the
1:47 tickets
1:55 see what happens got the banner
1:55 dangling right there
2:01 all the info stated here open daily from
2:01 10 to 4 p.m well not all the info
2:04 because there's no no prices per se
2:08 but it says purchase tickets inside the
2:11 gift shop and visitor guide maps are
2:12 available upon request
2:14 they reopened on june 20th
2:17 and now are closed monday so they've
2:19 kind of adapted their hours just a
2:21 little bit
2:22 no longer open on mondays currently
2:25 it's a little warm up there you guys
2:27 want some fans
2:29 yeah sure they come in handy you don't
2:31 think you want them until you're fanning
2:32 yourself with them
2:33 made it through where the tickets are
2:35 sold it was eight dollars per person
2:38 16 for the both of us and we were gifted
2:41 this fan
2:51 that's nice this couple is displaying
2:51 a photograph of main street in kissimmee
2:56 back in the good old days
2:59 rustic old train station here with the
3:01 water tower
3:02 and even some of the the rails
3:05 as well and a cabin
3:09 over there you have a guide map right
3:10 i've got a guide map
3:12 they say everything that's highlighted
3:14 in red
3:15 was from the 18 is from the 1800s okay
3:19 here at pioneer village nice that will
3:22 come in handy
3:24 it is in hand
3:29 yeah that kind of that kind of works
3:30 well i guess i should have it more
3:31 towards this way
3:32 that kind of works i think i'm
3:41 i'm cooling down my shoulder not
3:41 everything is accessible
3:42 for example the blacksmith shop is
3:46 is sealed and locked up
3:52 can almost picture a train pulling in
3:52 here
4:00 any minute now
4:00 i'm waiting for it getting some serious
4:04 sergio leone vibes could be invisible
4:07 could be a ghost train
4:08 it's a ghost train
4:11 okay that's frightening according to
4:14 this placard this was the james c
4:16 tyson homestead and it's here at the
4:18 forefront
4:20 of the town area equipped with a church
4:25 and a steeple
4:28 some other items we're gonna walk down
4:29 there from here i see the church
4:33 and a few other structures
4:47 this house is a perfect representation
4:47 of an old florida cracker house
4:50 i believe it's the james t tyson home
4:54 he used
5:08 victoria was a young woman when she and
5:08 james built their home but
5:09 years later the family grew to include
5:11 11 children
5:18 all inside that house got a water pump
5:18 outside here a little
5:19 representation a recreation of a water
5:21 pump next to the homestead
5:23 church building facilities has an ac
5:26 unit
5:28 around the back make things more
5:30 comfortable when you're visiting
5:32 and also around the back
5:36 is this do not believe
5:40 the headstones represent anyone
5:43 laid to rest
5:54 it shows the type of area you'd see
5:54 behind a classic old church building
5:57 like this
5:58 you might hear some airplanes flying
6:00 over the
6:01 kissimmee airport is in very close
6:03 proximity
6:04 replica of 1889 st john's
6:09 episcopal so it is a recreation love
6:20 those steeples
6:22 back in 1883 they used to meet in the
6:24 blacksmith
6:25 shop and then built this structure made
6:27 out of thatch and
6:29 palm fronds and cypress poles
6:33 that blacksmith shop was right over
6:35 there
6:36 other side of the train station well at
6:38 least the interpretation of it
6:40 oh dang this is pretty cool you can
6:42 become a resident
6:44 of here by purchasing a p.o box
6:47 you can check your mail here and be an
6:49 official
6:50 resident of pioneer villa that's pretty
6:54 cool
6:55 i would do that the general store
6:57 appears to be open
6:58 front door is accessible i'll walk in
7:00 and see what kind of items
7:02 they have this era has always been very
7:05 fascinating to me
7:16 all right also also the post office
7:16 you got your items imperial dry
7:20 ginger ale got some lanterns
7:23 up top you got the postmaster would be
7:27 back there
7:28 the counter here the register some
7:31 fruits
7:32 and vegetables some canned goods and
7:35 other items
7:37 all along the shelves and that roof up
7:46 yes so cool in air
7:46 not not weather and humidity wise but
7:50 it's neat in here got the scale
7:53 right there some wrapping paper for
7:56 items
7:57 most likely for meat products to wrap
8:00 the meat in
8:01 some saddles and a little closer view
8:05 of that register oh and a hat box
8:09 there's hat boxes over there
8:13 canned golden pumpkins and
8:16 can some of the finest
8:20 succotash
8:27 doing laundry back then took a little
8:27 more time
8:28 these washboards over there will give
8:30 you an example of what it would have
8:32 been like to take your clothes
8:34 and have to have to utilize this wash
8:37 them along
8:38 along these to get them clean community
8:42 centered
8:42 schools something you would see back in
8:46 1887 this is also
8:49 open to walk in through got the bell
8:52 there to signify the
8:54 start of class just a little bit of an
8:58 echo in here got the desks i wonder if
9:02 there's any mcguffy readers
9:05 the piano over there to sing the songs
9:12 photographs of abraham lincoln and
9:12 george washington
9:17 adorned the walls the creakiness of the
9:17 floorboards
9:19 really adds to the ambiance
9:34 and there's an apple on the teacher's
9:34 desk there is a section you can't cross
9:36 but i'm zoomed in
9:38 on the books i don't see any mcguffies
9:44 really invoking some some little house
9:47 on the prairie vibes
9:50 definite little house on the prairie
9:51 vibes and if you got a little
9:53 hungry and it had an allowance after the
9:56 school class
9:57 hop over to the general store okay so
10:00 did you find any candy in there
10:02 no candy the candy jar was empty but
10:04 there was plenty of canned goods in
10:06 going over to the far end of the
10:08 property some of this was not here
10:11 a few years ago when i was meandering
10:13 around
10:15 i've seen some stuff that wasn't here
10:17 before raymond v
10:18 lanier was a progressive farmer
10:22 this was completely restored but
10:25 originally dated back to 1905
10:28 mr lanier and his family resided in this
10:31 very structure
10:33 kind of reminds me of the gate that doc
10:34 brown went
10:36 out of after he said look pretty first
10:40 met clara clayton
10:41 back to the future three i just for some
10:44 reason that open gate kind of reminded
10:46 me
10:47 of that can i almost picture
11:09 imagine listening to music not through a
11:09 speaker but through an
11:10 amplified horn almost similar to that
11:13 that's attached
11:14 to where the record spins you may have
11:17 seen the old
11:18 photograph promotional material of the
11:20 dog sitting in front of that
11:22 not that one but just you know example
11:24 of that same type of machinery and often
11:26 the distance
11:27 is progress new homes being built
11:30 next to the
11:35 i'm going to say antique homestead well
11:36 i guess they're antique homesteads this
11:37 would be an
11:37 antique outdoor cupboard here in the
11:40 breezeway
11:43 cupboard i like that word yeah that's a
11:46 cupboard well hello there
12:17 i do believe i see a dinner bell
12:17 yeah right up here on the porch
12:24 classic let's try it out
12:38 on come and get it
12:38 what's for dinner there's not really any
12:40 food i was just i was
12:42 well there's some chickens out back i
12:43 can go grab them leave them alone
12:46 i don't know man they're pretty tasty
12:48 don't fret he didn't mean it
12:50 i talked him out of it i talked him out
12:52 of it trust me you're still a little
12:54 worried
12:55 don't get get away from him stay back
12:57 stay just gonna pet him huh
12:59 that's no you're not okay just just pet
13:02 him
13:02 the colonel would love to have you over
13:05 for some lunch
13:06 cattlemen's barn they were used to
13:09 protect
13:10 valuable riding gear and equipment
13:20 oh creaky door
13:23 oh please creaky door let's
13:26 let's see what happens when the wind
13:27 blows again
13:29 okay be patient
13:41 nice and we're not alone
13:41 grinding sugar cane took place right
13:45 and the only reason i really know that
13:47 is because it's designated here on this
13:49 information
13:50 plaque you can see there
13:53 how it operated or even over here
13:56 connected the horse to one end
14:00 and kind of looped around this way
14:04 or maybe that way either way and then
14:06 that little mechanism there
14:07 grinded up the sugar cane oh yeah this
14:10 is a
14:11 serious relic look at that
14:16 still has the imprint there on the side
14:38 there's a little bit of a walk down this
14:38 way there's some other items over here i
14:40 want to check out
14:41 notice how the roof
14:44 the wind has has gusted and blown this
14:48 away
14:49 there's the rest of the town over there
14:57 a few more items in that direction this
14:57 photo dates back to 1915
15:00 referring to all the way back to circa
15:03 1890 the cattle drives could be seen in
15:06 kissimmee
15:08 seminole settlement back in the 1880s
15:27 provides quite a bit of shade and some
15:27 relief from the elements under here
15:55 this is nice i don't even really need
15:55 the hat under this
15:58 under this awning not an awning so much
16:01 but under this canopy
16:03 of thatch and leaves
16:20 looks to be a little set up here for a
16:20 campfire
16:23 now my thought i'm not an expert by any
16:25 means but would that be wise with this
16:28 above it or maybe the or maybe it
16:31 wouldn't
16:32 go high enough to where it would even
16:34 catch on to that
16:36 there's a hole in the roof maybe the
16:37 smoke just went on through went straight
16:39 up depending on the wind
16:40 maybe the wind was a key factor in
16:43 determining that
16:44 i honestly don't know at all i know
16:46 nothing about this
16:48 certainly i'm not in the expertise
16:50 department when it comes to campfires
16:52 so disregard everything i just said loop
16:55 back around to the general store
16:57 to yet another homestead
17:00 that is accessible going up the stairs
17:27 william edmund cadman his wife
17:27 and his sons and his daughter
17:30 all lived here that's them in the
17:31 portrait there on the far end
17:34 this was their house
17:37 very nice restored from its 1884
17:42 original form got a little
17:46 shed in the backyard as well
17:49 not a shed designated a cadman kitchen
17:54 similar to other 19th century rural
17:56 homes it was separate from the main
17:58 house for practical reasons
18:00 so you could cook in there
18:04 and not get the smoking fire
18:07 into the rest of the house got the stove
18:11 over in the corner
18:15 and the outhouse
18:22 also on site i have talked to people who
18:22 say that their grandparents great
18:24 grandparents great grandparents
18:26 when outhouses became a thing when they
18:29 started to rear their head
18:32 that some of the older generation and
18:34 their family would always say
18:35 when indoor plumbing happened they would
18:37 say i'd rather use this
18:39 why would i want to do my business
18:42 indoors
18:44 and stink up the place hey thinking
18:46 about that it kind of makes sense but
18:49 yeah i don't know if i'd want to walk
18:50 out in the backyard
18:52 used for packing oranges
18:55 this was restored originally built in
18:59 1890
19:25 here's the machinery
19:25 florida citrus is a big element
19:39 ring the bell parts worry it's fun check
19:39 it out
19:42 she purrs
19:48 that never gets old all right hey there
20:14 need to purchase a ticket for a train
20:14 ride out of here
20:19 you might be waiting for a long time
20:19 though that's a good point
20:22 upon nearing the exit is another
20:26 storage barn used for citrus back in
20:28 1915
20:30 tucked away under here is a automotive
20:34 relic
20:35 it's a truck there
20:45 you know what kind of truck that is if i
20:45 had to guess i'd say an old
20:47 ford just just a guess
20:52 see an emblem no i do not
20:55 i lack thereof though but if i had to
20:58 guess i'd say she's an old ford
21:02 guessing although there is a vent tag
21:05 over there
21:06 but this fence is not allowing me to get
21:10 another one right over here
21:17 i can zoom in just a bit
21:17 right there
21:22 another one that one doesn't have the
21:22 tires have decomposed off of it
21:44 all right we're now stepping inside of
21:44 the church and you have the stained
21:46 glass windows the
21:48 pews and
21:55 organ up there piano up there yep it's a
21:56 piano
21:56 and pulpits where the minister
22:00 would stand you have the hymnal
22:07 right there as well and then look this
22:07 way
22:08 and the congregation would be sitting
22:12 here this reminds me of
22:14 my family's church my dad used to be a
22:16 preacher and my uncle on my mom's side
22:20 and my grandfather on my mom's side
22:23 all in churches just like this one way
22:26 back in the day when i was a kid reminds
22:28 me of
22:38 i'm trying to close this get the door
22:40 closed
