0:02 welcome everyone Adam the woo here happy
0:02 Monday this is a main thoroughfare
0:05 through downtown Oldtown orange and it
0:09 may not seem too busy now but rest
0:13 assured earlier in the weekend Saturday
0:16 and Sunday this was a hot spot of
0:19 Tourism people dancing and singing and
0:22 eating at the fine Mexican restaurants
0:26 and I am one of those people who ate at
0:28 the fine Mexican restaurants
0:30 down this thoroughfare and I wanted to
0:33 do a vlog here on this Monday tgim by
0:37 the way thank goodness it is
0:39 Monday because I did a periscope on
0:41 Saturday night it was kind of dark and I
0:43 wanted to come back before I headed back
0:45 to Orange County and I wanted to show
0:47 you guys
0:50 this a cemetery that is right off the
0:53 side of the road the elcampo Santo
0:58 Cemetery which was founded in
1:01 1849 but actually but actually I know
1:05 you're trying to read the sign actually
1:06 this Cemetery was being utilized until
1:09 1897
1:11 1898 and then this road this tourist
1:16 Mecca of Oldtown orange Oldtown orange I
1:19 keep saying Oldtown orange Orangetown
1:21 San Diego San Diego because I always go
1:25 down to the orange circle which is at
1:26 orang Oldtown orange but this is Oldtown
1:28 San Diego and there is a cemetery right
1:33 off the
1:34 side of the road and if that is not
1:37 interesting enough all the graves that
1:40 are in this Cemetery if that is not
1:42 enough that this road runs right beside
1:44 it the interesting thing is that there
1:47 are actually graves right where we are
1:49 standing in fact there's someone buried
1:52 right where you are standing and there
1:54 is the grave site you can see here it
1:57 says grave site
1:59 cuz there is someone actually buried
2:02 everywhere it says grave sight so right
2:06 here on this main
2:08 drag right here in Orange Orange old I
2:12 keep saying Orange Orange County we are
2:15 in San Diego not in Orange but right
2:18 here on this main drag in San Diego
2:21 Oldtown San Diego look at
2:24 this so everywhere you see one of those
2:26 little icons that say grave site there
2:29 is actually
2:30 a grave buried in the road or on the
2:35 sidewalk they're everywhere in fact look
2:38 right over here here's another
2:45 one grave site right
2:45 there here's another one right here
2:48 grave site right
2:51 there they just pretty much stretch all
2:53 the way down the road to the edge of
2:56 where the cemetery is but then also in
2:59 here
3:01 they said I guess I looked at a little
3:02 article online that said there were 477
3:05 people buried in this Cemetery
3:07 originally and I'm guessing like maybe
3:10 the houses were built on top of graves
3:12 maybe the graves stretched out that way
3:14 but then there's a sign actually over
3:17 here that says how many people does it
3:19 say they're actually buried in the road
3:21 and on the sidewalk more than 20 more
3:24 than 20 so out of the
3:26 477 people 20 of them are actually
3:29 buried in the road and here is actually
3:32 a sign kind of documenting it
3:34 remembering the more than 20 men women
3:36 and children who lie buried beneath San
3:39 Diego Avenue Avenue only assemblyman
3:42 Edward L green was exhumed so there was
3:45 one guy who was actually assumed taken
3:47 up and placed within the new boundaries
3:49 of the El Campo Santo Cemetery which is
3:51 actually right over here these grades
3:53 were discovered with the use of a ground
3:56 penetrating radar in 1993
4:00 and you can actually see so here's where
4:01 we are we're standing we're right here
4:04 so right now right now we're actually
4:06 standing right there so there is a grave
4:09 right over there and there's Graves that
4:11 go all the way down that way and all the
4:14 way over here starting with that one
4:18 which that kind of actually looks like
4:19 it would have been you know where you
4:21 could like ride a skateboard up or a
4:22 bicycle up or someone could actually go
4:24 down walk down that way and there's a
4:26 grave right there look at that there's a
4:29 grave
4:30 right there grave site so that's
4:33 interesting so just think in the middle
4:35 of the road let's get us come over here
4:37 and get a picture real quick let's get a
4:39 little picture graves in the middle of
4:42 the road Point down maybe Point down can
4:44 you see
4:45 me that's good graves in the road we use
4:48 that as the screenshot graves in the
4:52 road you don't see stuff like this all
4:54 the time but here in San Diego this is
4:56 actually a State Historical marker 6
4:59 it's a national landmark a state
5:01 historical landmark not a national and
5:04 here's a little carving of the sign
5:08 restored in
5:10 1933 could that be right I guess it
5:13 would be right because the cemetery
5:14 started in 1849 it was restored in 1933
5:20 so let's just take a quick little walk
5:21 around the cemetery here's a
5:25 sign El Campo Santo is also called The
5:28 Holy field
5:31 there used to be an adobe Chapel on the
5:33 corner of the street as well and that no
5:36 longer
5:39 exists so here you go here's some of the
5:41 graves that are actually not in the road
5:43 these are actually in in the organized
5:46 Cemetery some old tiny
5:55 Graves
5:55 1867 so these are definitely very old
6:00 Graves born in 19 born no born in 1770
6:04 died in
6:15 1867 1867 an Indian
6:16 maiden and they have the rock formation
6:18 symbolizing something like a
6:29 cross pretty interesting stuff here in
6:29 San Diego the area of San Diego called
6:32 Oldtown San Diego and just down the
6:34 street is what they say is the most
6:36 haunted house oh in the US the Haley the
6:39 Haley house the wh house the wh house
6:41 which we walked by we did not get to do
6:43 a tour we were out here Saturday night
6:45 was it wandering around your birthday
6:47 was yesterday so we're out here for your
6:48 birthday celebration we ate at a Mexican
6:51 restaurant you remember the name of the
6:52 Mexican restaurant that we ate at I
6:53 think it was La Pinata La Pata really we
6:56 at there there was a ton ton of
6:59 restaurant down this road we chose that
7:01 one and we came here we went by the way
7:03 house and now we're heading back up to
7:06 Orange County Oldtown Orange Orange
7:09 County now we're in Oldtown San Diego
7:12 getting my old towns mixed up quite a
7:13 bit so there you go just wanted to show
7:16 you these graves in the road and off the
7:18 side of the roads and in the sidewalks
7:22 something you really do not see every
7:25 day
7:34 all right going to say goodbye see you
7:34 guys later we're hitting the
7:36 road bye goodbye
