0:15 that's a flea right there that's a flea

0:19 and obviously his twin brother the other

0:26 woo open Friday Saturday and Sunday 8:

0:30 to 5 and it's Friday TGIF everyone so

0:34 that means that this flea market should

0:36 be open

0:37 correct you would be incorrect in

0:40 assuming that because this flea market

0:43 that holds a special place in my heart

0:45 and in my mind for years moved to St

0:49 Cloud which is right over there St Cloud

0:50 Florida about a mile or two just on the

0:52 outskirts of St Cloud lies the Oola flea

0:56 market Oola flea and Farmers Market

1:00 when I first moved here in 1991 I would

1:02 come out to this flea market every

1:04 weekend usually every Saturday or Sunday

1:07 spend some money buy some trinkets buy

1:09 some good oldfashioned garage sale stuff

1:12 scattered on tables it was a bustling

1:15 thriving environment and now it's not

1:17 now it's completely closed completely

1:20 abandoned completely desolate and

1:22 nothing more than a memory and that

1:26 memory

1:27 resides right over there look at that

1:30 that completely empty I've now parked my

1:33 van at this little shopping area that

1:35 used to house the Oola flea and Farmers

1:38 Market

1:39 office I think there's actually some

1:41 shops that might still be open here in

1:43 the front but the office is closed used

1:46 to actually be some gas pumps out here

1:49 many times that I waited this light to

1:51 turn in or to turn out and go out into

1:55 traffic after I purchased an exorbitant

1:58 amount of goodies from the flea market I

2:01 would always pull my car before I had my

2:03 van I had a car and then I had a minivan

2:06 and then I upgraded to the big van so

2:09 we're talking it's 1991 we're talking 23

2:12 years ago I used to cruise right through

2:22 here so over 23 years of

2:22 memories the last road trip I did I

2:25 returned from this and my dad told me

2:27 about the fact that this place had

2:30 closed which is pretty

2:33 crazy so returning home from my last

2:36 current past road trip coming back the

2:39 place is now completely empty and closed

2:42 never to return again probably will

2:45 eventually be bulldozed and there will

2:48 probably eventually be some sort of

2:49 Apartments here or a shopping center of

2:52 some sort this is Highway 192 here

2:55 that's the turnpike running north and

2:58 south from

3:00 Miami all the way up to Okala

3:03 Gainesville area so that's the turnpike

3:05 this is Highway 192 leading from CMI

3:07 Disney World down that way all the way

3:09 to Melbourne Florida St Cloud Florida

3:12 right over there you see some of the old

3:13 signage parking in the rear you could

3:17 actually park in the back of the flea

3:18 market but a lot of times I would get

3:19 here so early when the flea market would

3:21 open I would actually secure a spot

3:24 right up front You' go through this gate

3:27 and you'd

3:28 Park sometimes if I get here a little

3:30 bit later though he would be really busy

3:32 really packed this was definitely a

3:34 thriving packed flea

3:36 market you see a lot of the no parking

3:40 signs they didn't want you parking out

3:42 here they wanted you to actually go in

3:44 the flea market property in men Park so

3:47 behind it we have tons and tons and tons

3:49 of parking I believe there were four

3:51 rows of vendors you can see all this

3:55 fencing is now fallen over

4:07 this is actually a huge or was I should

4:07 say a big part of my life happened right

4:11 in here every

4:17 weekend I would buy things from here

4:17 trade things from here I became friends

4:19 with some of the vendors that worked in

4:21 here I had almost every single row

4:25 memorized who was where what they were

4:27 selling what they had they were excited

4:30 to see me I was excited to see them huge

4:33 flea market thrift store guy right here

4:36 I'm not a big fan of new box stored

4:39 items I definitely like vintage things

4:42 and this was definitely where I got a

4:44 lot of stuff in fact I used to have a

4:46 car when I first started driving when I

4:48 was 17 I Got a Car 18 came out here had

4:52 that car

4:53 1991 right over here see where that car

4:56 audio sign is

5:02 right there right where I'm pointing my

5:03 finger there's a car audio sign that

5:05 used to be a window tinting business for

5:07 years and years and years and years I

5:09 had a Ford

5:11 LTD I believe it was a 1984 or 1988 Ford

5:15 Ltd in 1991 I got a used car came out

5:18 here tinted the windows I was Mr Cool

5:21 cruising around and my tined windows and

5:24 I have them right there the people that

5:26 owned that little shop the window

5:28 tinting shop

5:31 to thank for that there tires there on

5:33 the

5:40 road kind of blows my mind actually

5:40 seeing this place like this it's very

5:41 sad to have something from your Youth

5:43 and your past something that you really

5:46 enjoyed and look forward to every

5:48 weekend you bring your friends out to it

5:49 I would bring my friends out here

5:51 anytime anybody would visit or I would

5:53 congregate with my friends on the

5:54 weekends we would always come out here

5:56 and look for bargains look for deals

5:59 bragged to each other on what we had

6:01 found the nestled goodness that we had

6:04 Carin into a bag for a few dollars you

6:07 could get 10 different items full of

6:09 good wonderful

6:11 things and now you can get nothing out

6:13 here nothing except maybe some bug bites

6:16 or make maybe a slithering snake that

6:19 has actually made this abandoned place

6:21 that's home so I pull my car right

6:24 through there if the parking up front

6:26 was full but I got here too late I would

6:29 pull down this road and I would drive

6:31 all the way around to the backside so I

6:33 actually utilize this

6:35 road hundreds if not thousands of times

7:05 you see this little sign right here

7:05 speed limit 10 mes hour they didn't want

7:08 people speeding through here careening

7:10 here at a rapid Pace because there were

7:12 so many people so many pedestrians and

7:15 Shoppers walking across they did not

7:17 want Vehicles mowing them down running

7:19 them down but now if you were to get

7:21 your vehicle in there you could pretty

7:23 much drive more than 10 mph you could

7:24 probably drive 100 mph you can pretend

7:27 that this was the Autobon because

7:29 honestly honestly there is not a soul

7:31 out here except for me and the cars

7:33 passing by going to their homes who

7:36 probably wish this place would get bull

7:37 those because it's kind of becoming an

7:38 eyesore now which is very sad because to

7:41 me it's not an eyesore to me it's a

7:43 wonderful memory of my past and other

7:46 people's past and a sign of the times

7:49 which is kind of interesting I did a

7:50 vlog here when it was starting to slow

7:53 down they started to close off a couple

7:54 of the rows probably about a year and a

7:57 half ago I did a vlog inside of there I

7:59 called it the supposed death of the flea

8:02 market you can look that up I was

8:03 wandering around in here there still

8:05 were a few booths open and I asked this

8:08 question I'm going to ask this question

8:09 again in this economy which is not

8:12 bustling like it used to be you would

8:14 think that used Goods flea markets and

8:16 thrift stores would be thriving so why

8:19 are flea markets closing what is the

8:22 reason for that very interesting you

8:24 would think people would want to save

8:26 money so flea markets would actually be

8:29 in increasing in number instead of

8:31 declining so that's curious leave some

8:33 comments down below if you have any idea

8:35 or opinion on that subject but for now

8:38 I'm just going to keep showing you

8:41 around my hand is actually through the

8:43 barb wire look at this you're actually

8:46 inside the barb wire you were just in

8:48 there right

9:00 there multitudes of baseball cards were

9:00 purchased by me inside of there an

9:03 incredible amount amount of Nintendo

9:06 games Nintendo Entertainment System

9:08 games I'm a big big NES collector of

9:13 sorts or I used to be don't really

9:14 collect anything anymore because I'm

9:16 traveling around don't have an apartment

9:18 anymore this is back when I had an

9:20 apartment I had a house room all that

9:22 good stuff and I would actually buy a

9:24 lot of items that I could actually

9:26 collect Adorn the walls with put things

9:29 in drawers put things on counters I

9:31 don't really collect things anymore

9:33 maybe I'm part of the problem because

9:35 I'm not shopping at flea markets maybe I

9:37 am to blame for

9:40 this

9:50 this actually in all actuality I

9:50 actually do buy a lot of things s at

9:52 flea markets little knickknacks you can

9:54 find them all around my van or I'll buy

9:56 something cool and give it to someone or

9:58 I'll stash it in a box or something so I

10:00 still spend quite a bit of money and a

10:03 lot of time at thrift stores and flea

10:06 markets thrift stores seem to be

10:08 abounding still but flea markets which

10:11 is very odd are

10:20 not there was four different rows on the

10:20 middle row actually not the middle there

10:22 is no middle of four but on the second

10:24 row right over there used to be a little

10:27 restaurant area where they serve like I

10:28 don't I used used the word restaurant

10:31 very cordially and very flippantly cuz

10:34 it really was just hot dogs hamburgers

10:36 snacks popcorn stuff like that and there

10:38 was a big karaoke area people would go

10:40 out there and droves the weekends people

10:43 would line up to do karaoke right there

10:45 in the middle sometimes they would have

10:47 live bands this whole area was

10:49 completely packed with people all out

10:53 here and now there's really nothing now

10:55 it actually says beware of dog I'm not

10:57 really sure if there is a dog out here

10:59 remember I was saying how there's

11:00 probably snakes slithering around the

11:02 countryside maybe there's a dog and a

11:04 snake wouldn't it be weird to see a dog

11:06 and a snake walking around out here

11:10 there's a person behind me in a truck

11:11 wondering what I'm doing no clue

11:14 whatsoever what at the flea

11:17 market they're probably wondering why is

11:19 this guy either talking to his phone or

11:21 maybe he's thinking of breaking and

11:23 entering into the flea market I'm going

11:25 to go with option one really no reason

11:28 to go inside there this is a oneway

11:30 street a oneway street right

11:33 here actually they're just taking a

11:35 picture maybe they're taking a picture

11:36 of me I don't think they're taking a

11:38 picture of the flea market they're

11:39 probably taking a picture of me to

11:41 report the fact that I am reporting on

11:44 the fact that this flea market is now

11:46 abandoned you can see a sign right over

11:48 there it says remember to lock your

11:50 vehicle and take your valuable items

11:53 with you I always heated that warning

11:55 cuz I was always scared someone was

11:56 going to break into my car and take my

11:58 ey items while I was trying to buy other

12:01 new oldfashioned items inside but

12:05 there's no one out here now doing any

12:07 thievery in the parking lot in fact

12:09 there's no one out here doing any sort

12:11 of anything except me doing a vlog and

12:14 that person taking a picture of me doing

12:16 a vlog which is very weird and strange

12:19 and

12:28 unusual just imagine this entire parking

12:29 lot filled with cars tourists locals all

12:33 kinds of people out here going inside

12:36 and droves I used to walk right through

12:38 there about a million times right

12:40 through that entrance there was a guy

12:42 right there that made license plates and

12:44 cool little artistic things that guy was

12:46 there for years there was another guy

12:48 that sold darts and dart boards he was

12:50 here for over 20 years became kind of

12:52 friends with him knew him a little bit I

12:54 recognize a lot of different people

12:56 there was a guy over there that used to

12:57 sell VHS that's right VHS I used to buy

13:00 VHS cassette tapes on this first row

13:03 halfway down lot of memories out here

13:06 pretty wild over there there used to be

13:08 a tire place and then over there is what

13:11 they called the garage sale area way off

13:12 in the distance that was the first thing

13:15 that actually started to decline I came

13:17 out here in the garage sale area went

13:19 away and that's when I knew eventually

13:21 the flea market here in Oola County the

13:24 St Cloud flea market will eventually be

13:28 gone and my prediction is correct the

13:30 flea market in St Cloud Florida the Oola

13:34 flea market is now empty and abandoned

13:39 all right you guys have a great day I'm
