0:03 Today's adventure begins as the
0:03 recording of this Sunday, May 11th,
0:06 2025. It is a little cooler today than
0:09 it has been the last few here in Mexico
0:11 City. And it's overcast. Well, take it a
0:14 step further. It is rainy and a little
0:16 dreary and cooler than it has been. Not
0:18 cold. I might have to purchase an
0:21 umbrella as I head
0:24 out for the day. Needed to get some
0:26 cash. I came over here to the ATM. They
0:28 have like a whole row of ATMs in here
0:31 inside this little room. It's not like
0:33 an actual bank where you walk into and
0:35 see a teller. It's just a room full of
0:37 ATMs. Welcome everyone. Adam the Woo
0:40 here. So on my agenda today, I would
0:42 like to take a cruise down a river on a
0:45 boat I've heard about. And also there is
0:47 an island full of dolls. Those are my
0:49 main agenda. However, Louise might have
0:53 some other
0:54 things on your agenda. Yes. couple of
0:57 interesting places on our way to the
1:00 canals. Luis was with me yesterday.
1:03 People seem to enjoy the fact that
1:04 you're local and you're showing me
1:05 around. I'm glad. A little bit. And
1:08 we're going to get some coffee. I
1:09 thought should we get Starbucks again?
1:11 You said I know a local place. So, you
1:13 going to take me and show me around? Of
1:14 course. Piping hot caffeinated beverage.
1:17 Yes. I'm inviting you to join me and
1:20 Louis.
1:22 Shall you? Nailed it. I talked over you
1:25 yesterday, so I figured today I'll let
1:26 you let you have the whole thing. I
1:28 think yesterday was a bit better. Oh,
1:30 was it? Yeah, I think so. My
1:33 Sometimes I'll say Luis and sometimes
1:35 I'll say Lewis. Which do you prefer?
1:38 Pass. My last name actually. No, not
1:41 really. It's okay. Like in Spanish is
1:43 Luis. Luis. Louis. Yes. How do you say
1:47 how do you say Adam in Spanish? Adan.
1:49 Adan. Adan. Yeah. Yesterday we we had
1:51 coffee and they they wrote my name on
1:53 it. Adan. Yeah. Adan. Adan. Adan.
1:57 Lewis or Luis. Either one. You. Either
1:58 one. All right. Adan. This is where
2:01 we're getting the coffee right here.
2:03 Cafe. Emir. Emir. Emir. All right.
2:06 Little local spot.
2:15 All right. So, 20 is one. Still getting
2:15 my bearings on this. So, 20 is one. 20
2:17 pesos. $1.
2:20 Look at this cute little tip guy.
2:22 We got the coffee here. Stopped off in
2:24 the tile house. It's interesting. A lot
2:28 of the buildings here in the city are
2:29 sinking. So, they're kind of slanted.
2:31 And this is no exception. This is like a
2:34 used to be a very rich like almost like
2:36 a mansion that rich person own. And they
2:39 turned it into this restaurant here.
2:41 Very, very nice. But you can see if you
2:43 took a level across there, you could you
2:45 can see how it's kind of sinking a
2:47 little bit. This is called the tile
2:49 house.
2:58 You said the richest man in Mexico owns
2:58 this. Yes. The department store that
3:00 owns the place is owned by the richest
3:02 man in Mexico. Yes. The tile house. And
3:06 it's a very typical restaurant as well.
3:08 So whenever you want to have typical
3:10 Mexican and tuitos. Yeah. This is one of
3:13 those. I love the little mural there,
3:15 too.
3:17 And you should see how fancy the
3:19 restrooms are as well. I don't think I
3:21 could film in there. Not inside, of
3:23 course. The outside of the tile house.
3:26 See where it gets its name cuz it has
3:27 the tile all along the side.
3:37 This is the Palace of Fine Arts here,
3:37 right? Yes. The art m art place. It is.
3:40 And it's also sinking. This one is one
3:41 of the the buildings that are sinking
3:43 the most in Mexico City because it's too
3:46 heavy and the land is very unstable
3:49 because Mexico City was built on a
3:51 former water table like the water table
3:53 like the lake. Yes or no?
3:57 So in how many years you think some of
3:58 these will be destroyed? Like thousands
4:00 of years, hundreds of years? Maybe a
4:02 couple of hundred perhaps. So a couple
4:04 hundred years they're going to have to
4:05 do something about this building. Yeah,
4:07 they they have started already. I think
4:08 they're like injecting concrete below
4:11 them. I think so. Yeah. I noticed this
4:13 the other day. I was just in
4:16 passing. This is a Beethoven sculpture.
4:20 In fact, it has Beethoven's name right
4:22 on it.
4:35 I'm guessing this is the the musician
4:36 Beethoven. Yes. Yes. honoring him. Yes.
4:39 I saw this the other day and I I wasn't
4:41 positive it was another Beethoven. No.
4:43 Was he from here? He wasn't from Mexico.
4:46 German. Was he? Well, his name was in
4:48 German. From Europe, right? Ludwig is my
4:50 name in German. So, German. Yeah. Okay.
4:52 Oh, okay.
4:58 So, your name in Germany would be
4:58 Ludvig. Ludwig. Yeah.
5:02 So, why would this be here? Why do they
5:04 just they love him here? Yeah. It's like
5:06 how in for example Central Park you have
5:09 some monuments for artists or literature
5:13 writers or whatever. I think sometimes
5:16 some foreign governments give this kind
5:18 of stuff to Mexico as a gift. Also
5:20 notice that they use these whisk brooms
5:22 here. You don't really see those in the
5:23 states the whisk style like the really
5:26 big whisk style but I noticed all the
5:28 workers will use those whisk brooms.
5:30 Yes. Very very common. And you can still
5:32 see some kakarandas here. Oh yeah.
5:37 Yeah. More here than we saw yesterday at
5:38 the other spot.
5:41 So, we're going to catch the subway from
5:42 here.
5:44 Oh, one thing. Did I mention in the
5:45 intro that we're going to might maybe
5:46 see a Total Recall
5:48 locations. We are enter the subway. Did
5:52 the subway yesterday.
5:54 And it once again this is the fine arts
5:58 district. Bella
6:01 Artis. A double L would be like a Yas.
6:04 Beas art. Beas artist. And that means
6:07 art. Fine arts. Fine arts. Beas.
6:20 Case of emergency. You break the glass.
6:20 Here you have a telephone. Emergency
6:22 telephone. You also have the fire
6:24 extinguisher. When I was in South Korea,
6:26 they had emergency ones. You break the
6:27 glass and they had gas masks. Yeah. Not
6:30 here
6:48 fortunately. Oh yeah, this is definitely
6:48 the same vicinity of the total recall
6:51 clip cuz I
6:52 recognize that's
6:55 right. I recognize the roof line right
6:58 here. This very interesting type of roof
7:02 here with the
7:10 escalators. What a crazy movie. Extreme
7:10 sci-fi. Very violent.
7:41 That's
7:43 right. This is
7:46 awesome. It still kind of has that gray
7:49 tone. And I think they originally was
7:52 really colorful and they painted over it
7:53 for the movie from what I was reading.
7:55 All right. Total
8:02 recall the subway. The subway
8:03 scene up at the top up
8:10 here. From what I was reading, they
8:10 filmed it like 2 or 3 in the morning
8:11 when the subway was
8:14 closed and they obviously switched the
8:16 direction of the escalator. There was
8:18 quite a few escalators used, but yeah, I
8:20 think this is I think this is one of
8:21 them right right there. The same one as
8:23 the subway's coming by and he's running
8:25 up this running up the escalator. So
8:27 many great I like the one where the the
8:29 guys are grabbing him. He's like, "What
8:30 what the f did I
8:40 do? Even the pillars across the way
8:40 still kind of look the same. You notice
8:42 that pillar over there where Anie is
8:45 running up right here. That's
8:49 right. Such a weird movie. Classic, but
8:53 a weird movie. Very weird
9:02 movie. When I was in London, I love the
9:02 London subway system and I checked out
9:04 one of the spots from American Werewolf
9:06 in London that was filmed the side of
9:07 the subway. I don't know what it is
9:09 about subways in
9:11 movies. They're very prevalent.
9:15 So this very escalator is where that
9:18 really intense scene is when the guy who
9:20 uses the other guy as a shield and
9:22 throws the the body's deceased body down
9:25 right onto the right onto here. It's all
9:29 right
9:35 here. There are two escalators that go
9:35 the same direction. The one they use is
9:37 this one here. Scene from the movie.
9:39 It's kind of hard to really get it all
9:40 lined up because the escalator is very
9:42 busy with people. This is a clip from
9:43 the film. You can see how the stairs
9:47 running along the escalator are. And you
9:48 can see how over there they still kind
9:51 of look the same as they're coming up
9:53 here. Very dramatic, very uh very
9:55 violent scene. You know, one thing
9:56 that's pretty pretty interesting that
9:58 you see uh Arnold there. That's right.
10:01 But look at the floor pattern. Still
10:02 looks the same. I think that movie came
10:04 out in
10:05 90. I think it came out a long time ago.
10:08 The floor pattern still looks the same.
10:10 And I love the the roof line which you
10:12 can see very visibly. And look at the
10:14 roof. So he would have been coming right
10:15 up the escalators there. And you can
10:17 kind of see the signage there behind his
10:19 head right
10:26 there. Yeah. He used a body as a shield
10:26 and threw it at the bad guys.
10:27 Interesting. Back there. This wasn't a
10:29 You still see the slants there on
10:31 the on the the boards or the structural
10:37 part of the bridge, the walkway bridge,
10:38 but now they have it open where you can
10:40 see out the windows, but that's the spot
10:42 where they're running towards the
10:44 escalator. There's a This is a It's a
10:46 beehive of activity in
10:49 here. There's really no way to get it
10:51 without any people in it. It's like It's
10:53 impossible. Here's a slight slight stop.
10:56 He's coming up right there.
10:58 There he
10:59 is. Oh, there used to be a light down
11:02 the middle. See, there used to be like a
11:03 hanging light down the middle of it.
11:06 Really looks like a lot of the lighting
11:07 is the only thing that's really changed.
11:08 They had a different different style of
11:10 lighting back then 35 years
11:17 ago. Really love to pan up and show this
11:17 angle, but it's just constant amount of
11:20 people. I mean, just here, I'll do this.
11:24 There's the There's the angle right
11:25 there. There you go.
11:31 That's the spot.
11:35 Waiting for a quick gap. And there we
11:38 go. Right there.
11:57 Oh
11:57 yeah. So, there's the sound stages for
12:00 the studio. I'm going to try to maybe go
12:01 by there a little bit later, but those
12:03 sound stages is where Honey I Shrunk the
12:06 Kids were filmed, Total Recall, Hearts
12:09 of Titanic, Romeo and Juliet,
12:13 Dune. Yeah, right there. Honey, I Shrunk
12:15 the Kids was all that neighborhood was
12:16 all inside those sound stages. Fun fact.
12:19 Yeah. If you ever rewatch Honey, I
12:21 Shrunk the Kids, you see the
12:22 neighborhood scene, the backyard scene,
12:24 the front yard scene, all of that. Pay
12:27 attention to the
12:28 clouds.
12:30 Sorry. Pay attention to the
12:33 clouds. What's that guy
12:36 doing? What just happened? I don't know.
12:38 We're with people. Loito Centro.
12:41 What does that mean? the crazy guy from
12:43 the downtown. I don't
12:47 I was like this whole this whole thing's
12:48 open. He's like right behind me like
12:50 hovering over my neck. But if you look
12:52 at the clouds behind the neighborhood
12:55 and Honey, I shrunk the
12:57 kids. They're painted on the side of the
13:00 sound stage wall. So if you ever watch
13:02 the movie again, pay attention. The
13:04 clouds aren't moving. They're painted
13:10 on. All right. So, I mentioned this
13:10 yesterday, but you have to take 10 pesos
13:12 to use restaurants. And this is kind of
13:15 the setup when getting off the subway.
13:17 Also going to meet up with
13:19 Luis's family. And from here, we're
13:22 going to go take in their car, go the
13:25 duration of the rest of the way down
13:28 southward over to the river and see some
13:31 see some of the doll island. I've
13:32 arrived at this like a papermâché, but
13:35 this like metal little sculpture here.
13:37 Laona. recognize that from that's a
13:40 legend of a lady here in Mexico and they
13:42 had an HHN maze last year based on her.
13:44 Thing I'm noticing here is you don't get
13:46 packs of cigarettes. You buy the cig the
13:48 cigarettes individually. Take a look at
13:50 here. So they're all like
13:53 individually individuals right there.
13:57 A non-smoker. But it is kind of
13:58 interesting that you don't get the packs
14:00 here. You just buy them singly. You buy
14:02 a single cigarette if you so choose.
14:04 Just a allocart allocart cigarette. So
14:07 the boat tour is almost 4 hours. Two
14:11 hours there to the island, island of the
14:13 dolls and
14:15 then two hours back. So it's going to be
14:18 a full day
14:19 thing. I guess the only way to get there
14:21 cuz it's an island is to take the
14:30 boats. They are just lined up here. Just
14:30 dozens of them or maybe even hundreds of
14:33 them. They just they go all the way down
14:35 the canal. Like look at that down
14:37 there. All these boats.
14:41 There's a couple stops along the way,
14:44 too. This is going to be awesome. You
14:47 got some ducks here getting ready to go
14:49 on the boat. We're ready. Ducks, you're
14:52 staying here. Okay, fine. I believe this
14:54 is the one we're going on here. You got
14:57 a few, but this is us here. Viva
15:01 Lupita. Hey, we're pulling away. So
15:03 basically, you just rent the entire
15:05 boat. So if it's one person, it's the
15:07 same price as if it was 20 people. And
15:09 there's a group of four of us, plus the
15:11 person who's going to be is going to be
15:14 the captain of the boat.
15:32 All right. They're going down the Is
15:32 this a river or a canal? Canal. Canal.
15:35 They used to be part of the lake, but
15:37 then the Mishikas built those chinampas,
15:40 which are artificial islands that were
15:43 used to for agriculture.
15:54 Is this like a salesman selling beer?
15:54 Yeah. In the canoe.
15:58 That's kind
15:59 of in the canoe there.
16:21 That's like a pork rind. Almost like a
16:21 pork rind. Yeah, the pork rind is
16:23 sabones. This one. There's these boats,
16:26 but there's also boats that the locals
16:28 use to get around. This is almost like
16:30 a public transit for locals here.
16:33 Amazing that just one person guides this
16:37 whole thing. I would imagine it probably
16:38 be a lot more difficult and
16:40 heavier if there was more people on
16:42 here. But evidently, he's tied up in
16:45 tied in some trash or weeds over here.
16:47 So, he's trying to untangle the boat
16:49 from
17:17 So, we just got to run the stick
17:17 underneath the boat to get the trash.
17:48 Thanks. Honestly, this is so freaking
17:48 cool. Just going down a peaceful, quiet
17:50 river on a boat.
17:58 standing here on the I'll say the edge
17:58 of the boat, but pretty close to the
18:00 front.
18:45 That's the party boat right there. Yeah.
18:45 All right. Got some thatch roof tents
18:46 over here. Got this gentleman on a canoe
18:49 going by.
18:52 Oh, look at this. There's a little
18:53 garden over here. Got some plants. And
18:55 you have salesmen here with their their
18:57 boats selling all kind of products, food
18:59 items, drinks and snacks and things.
19:01 That looks like an
19:02 entire like they're planting cactuses.
19:05 You see rows of cactus there. Almost
19:07 like you'd see like rows of corn or
19:10 something like that at a farm. Oh, look
19:12 at this.
19:15 He's coming for
19:17 us. This uh this goose is like coming
19:20 for us. Yeah, there's like row Look at
19:22 this. There's like rows of cactuses.
19:23 I've never seen that before. Just
19:25 following right beside us. Huh?
19:28 I
19:39 right, we are arriving at the doll
19:39 island now. An island full of dolls. The
19:42 only way to get to it, well, as far as I
19:43 know, is to take a
19:48 boat. It's like the whole thing here,
19:48 the doll island. Evidently, Tim Burton
19:51 has brought a doll by boat here and
19:52 placed one of his dolls here. And Lady
19:55 Gaga also brought a doll here once by
19:57 boat. So, I guess in order to get over
19:59 there, we got to somehow just jump over
20:02 to that one.
20:11 Do you need help? I think I got it. Yep.
20:11 Yes.
20:29 This is going to be cool. All right,
20:30 I've officially made it to the island of
20:31 the
20:38 dolls. Intruders will be
20:38 haunted and got out.
20:42 Wow.
20:51 Okay. They even have uh you enter and
20:51 exit through the gift shop. Okay. So,
20:53 was this island of the dolls? Is that
20:55 what that says?
21:01 Oh, I might have to get a
21:01 shirt. A
21:07 magnet. Wow. Look at
21:07 this. Holy
21:09 cow. Oh my gosh. There's like thousands
21:13 of them. Mhm.
21:15 Which direction we go? We go that way.
21:16 That way. Yeah. Okay. And then, of
21:18 course, Stitch.
21:36 What? This is
21:36 interesting. Wow. There's
21:39 Tweety. It's a small island full of
21:41 dolls.
21:48 There's
21:48 Mickey.
22:26 was like something you could go into. Is
22:26 this like a a little walk through? It
22:28 was like a haunt or something.
22:41 Is this a walk through? Yeah, they're
22:42 are going to tell us the story. Okay.
22:44 Well, we have to wait just for for here.
22:46 Okay.
23:15 Don't know if I've ever been to a place
23:15 like this. I've been to some places that
23:17 have dolls, even kind of creepy ones
23:20 like this, but nothing this expansive
23:22 that has
23:23 hundreds, if not
23:26 thousands of
23:34 dolls. There's a little bridge right
23:34 here full of creepy dolls.
25:00 Definitely want to get a t-shirt or
25:00 something
25:01 while I'm out here. It's a rooster.
25:16 All right, we're now go. We're getting
25:16 shut inside the door here. It's not like
25:19 a haunted walkthrough, but it is a bunch
25:21 of creepy
25:22 dolls inside. And evidently Tim Burton's
25:26 and Gaga are both in here.
25:45 Okay. The guy that created the island in
25:45 the 1950s.
25:55 Okay. He found
25:55 Body of a girl.
25:57 Oh, underwater. Under water.
26:18 He was a religious man and he tried to
26:18 pray and do stuff like putting a cross a
26:22 cross in front of the island but nothing
26:25 helps. Yeah. So he thought that his
26:28 religion betrayed him. That was the very
26:40 first and said that it was very like the
26:40 girl that he found.
27:36 Okay. His favorite though, the only one
27:36 that he named is her name. That's her
27:40 right there. The red hair. Yeah.
27:52 You can Yeah, those are like elves.
27:56 Elves. Yeah, elves. And you can let
27:59 something in change of a paper. Oh,
28:02 okay. You can
28:10 ask. Oh, both there.
28:22 Oh, really? The one Tim Burton brought
28:22 here. The Day of the Dead one. This Tim
28:24 Burton. Tim Burton. This here. So Tim
28:27 Burton brought that here and then Lady
28:29 Gaga brought that one here. That is so
28:31 cool.
28:37 The very first doll the guy found and
28:37 ended up starting the whole island. He
28:39 ended up the whole story is he saw a
28:41 little girl who had passed away and he
28:43 had like nightmares from it and he found
28:44 the doll and that kind of helped soo
28:46 them from the evil spirits. So he
28:48 started collecting other scary dolls to
28:49 ward off those spirits. And one of the
28:52 producers of Annabelle brought in this
28:54 raggedy and doll right here. It's one of
28:56 the most terrifying little shacks sheds
28:58 I've ever been inside of. Haunted dolls
29:02 right inside of here.
29:04 This is really something. So a lot of
29:06 different celebrities have brought stuff
29:07 in. So, Lady Gaga took the boat over
29:10 gave this to the island. So, Gaga has
29:12 been walking around. Then, of course,
29:13 Tim Burton. He definitely likes some
29:16 creepy things. He's
29:17 uh he is also So, this is the guy that
29:20 had the island. He was here all by
29:22 himself and he found a little girl who
29:24 had passed away and it haunted him for
29:27 the rest of his life. And the guide was
29:29 saying that 50 years later after he
29:31 found the girl and started the doll
29:34 island, he passed away in the same spot
29:37 that he found
29:53 interesting. What is
29:53 it? Oh, all the hands. All the hands and
29:56 feet.
30:01 It is interesting how people just bring
30:01 dolls in here.
30:05 Yeah, this is not creepy in any way,
30:06 shape, or
30:17 Island.
30:17 Fascinating. Here's the
30:20 restrooms. Don't need 10 pesos to get in
30:22 here, though.
30:25 This is like a old outhouse
30:33 style.
30:33 Yep. Creep creepiest bathroom ever right
30:36 there. That was
30:38 something like waiting for like
30:39 Leatherface to come around the corner. I
30:41 feel like I'm at like a haunted house,
30:42 right? Yeah.
30:49 Look at this, man.
30:49 You ever been out here before? No. First
30:52 time for me. Okay, excellent.
31:00 I wonder where the guy where he found
31:00 the little girl at like on the island.
31:02 Maybe we can ask and then where he died
31:05 in the same
31:14 spot. Wow. Look at
31:14 this old shacks here. So, how what would
31:18 this translation of this be? The island
31:21 of the dolls. Okay. Island of the
31:24 Dolls. I got a little like a little
31:27 photo op here. Nightmare fuel photo
31:30 op. This is
31:32 great. Only accessible by boats. So, you
31:36 enter around this way. This is the
31:37 creepy one over here. You got to cross
31:39 the bridge and then into the creepy What
31:43 does this say?
31:45 Julian. He lives here. Okay. He's asleep
31:48 here. Oh, this was his house. Yeah. This
31:50 is where the guy that passed away that
31:52 for 50 years had all the different
31:54 dolls. Yeah. This is uh this is
31:57 nightmare fuel right here for sure.
32:02 All right. There's a boat of mariachi
32:04 right here. Mariachi band right there on
32:06 this boat. A rolling mariachi.
32:10 A rolling mariachi band.
32:22 They're going to They're going to board
32:22 the boat. Yeah. But in the front,
32:36 you can see. You can see. No, you're
32:36 fine. I just want to let
32:40 you
32:46 Hold on.
33:10 away. I get what
33:13 I expect.
33:27 Back in the day, they used to have these
33:28 almost like lizardlike creatures that
33:30 used to live in the water here, but they
33:33 are endangered now. So, they're no
33:35 longer in the water. Evidently, they put
33:36 fish in here to get rid of some of the
33:38 plants over on the side. And those fish
33:41 ended up taking care of those kind of
33:42 lizardy looking creatures. But, we
33:44 stopped off at another spot where they
33:46 had a like an aquarium with quite a few
33:49 of those little interesting creatures.
33:51 There's a there's a there's one of the
33:52 bills, one of the peso bills here in the
33:55 in the country that shows that that kind
33:59 of like uh uses that as the mascot on
34:02 that particular bill, but in the in the
34:05 aquarium was able to kind of get an up
34:07 close personal look. And they also had
34:08 some other animals here. They had like a
34:10 gator and some uh turtles and things
34:13 like that. And I had never seen a
34:15 conglomeration of
34:18 albino frogs. and they had that as well.
34:22 And then we ended up getting back on the
34:23 river where there was a food stand was
34:26 approaching by and the guy that was
34:28 guiding the food stand ended up breaking
34:30 off the the stick that he uses to guide
34:32 the to guide the boat down the down the
34:34 river. So thankfully like 3/4 of the
34:36 stick was left. So he's got enough to I
34:38 guess get back to shore to get another
34:40 stick, but it completely snapped in
34:41 half. Which makes me wonder like what
34:43 happens when what happens when the the
34:45 guides lose their stick and all that cuz
34:48 they just it's just one guide per boat
34:49 and one stick. That's the only thing got
34:51 there's no motor on the boat. So
34:54 yeah. Right. Now we're heading it back
34:56 up to port right now. Almost back to the
34:59 where we
35:06 started. All right. That was awesome.
35:06 Love the Island of Dead Dolls and then
35:08 also the mariachi band was really great.
35:11 Off to the next spot. Pop back by over
35:13 where the studios were again. There's
35:15 four big I think there's four big sound
35:17 stages here. Honey, I shrunk the kids.
35:20 The neighborhood was right in there.
35:21 Rick Moranis. What a
35:34 classic a
35:34 studios churusco. Churusco.
35:42 That's the name of the general vicinity
35:42 this area. That is cool. So evidently
35:45 the Titanic. So the I think most of the
35:47 Titanic was filmed in England, but there
35:49 were a couple scenes. I think the scene
35:51 where the Titanic is up on its end and
35:53 then Rose and Jack are on the top and
35:55 it's sinking. I think that was in here.
35:58 Bunch of other stuff,
36:05 too. These are all studio vehicles. This
36:06 is a
36:07 prop prop
36:09 van running along parallel to the sound
36:29 stages. You know what's interesting is
36:29 first time I ever saw that movie and I
36:31 heard it was filmed in a sound stage and
36:32 not a real neighborhood. I always wanted
36:34 to see the studio, see the sound stage.
36:37 It's kind of a weird thing I've always
36:39 wanted to do, but just seeing this is
36:41 really cool because I saw that movie
36:44 hundreds of times when it came out. I
36:45 had it on VHS. I watch it. sister and I.
37:02 cool. That
37:04 says studio sound stage number eight.
37:07 Number eight right there. Okay. There
37:09 there are at least eight.
37:11 Yes. That's an elephant door right
37:13 there. That's what studios call elephant
37:15 doors.
37:31 All
37:31 right. I'm over here at this little mall
37:33 square circle area circling back. Well,
37:37 it's a circle building, but circling
37:39 back to Total Recall. There were a
37:41 couple scenes that were took place right
37:43 over in here from Total Recall. In fact,
37:46 I think one of them might have been
37:47 right over there. I had to like try to
37:49 match up a couple things. But with Anie
37:52 trying to find the exact spot when
37:54 Arnold's looking out the window and the
37:55 guy leaves his suitcase. This kind of
37:57 looks like it, but again, it's been
37:59 many, many years ago. This kind of the
38:01 angle here where he's going down.
38:02 There's a pay phone in that corner. I'm
38:04 going to walk around the circle, see if
38:06 I can find another spot, but this is the
38:07 closest thing I could see to where that
38:08 might be. But the pay phone behind the
38:10 guy leaving the suitcase right down
38:11 there. I don't know if that's it or not,
38:21 but see if I can find the other one.
38:21 There's another staircase that looks
38:22 like the one I was just at and this one
38:24 as well, which they all kind of look the
38:26 same with the traffic going over them.
38:28 And I believe the the one it is is the
38:30 next one over, but they're having like
38:31 an event and there's like a guy with a
38:34 saxophone and a big group of people that
38:35 are congregated in there. There's really
38:37 no way I'd be able to match everything
38:39 up.
38:41 But again, I'm not a thousand%
38:43 confident, but this could be where down
38:46 here he's picking it up. The lady next
38:48 to the pay phone that was like, "That's
38:49 my bag. I don't see your name on it."
38:51 And then she uh very offensively speaks
38:54 to Arnold and he kind of like looks this
38:57 direction. Then he walks out in the
38:58 courtyard, but I think it's the other
39:00 one where there's a huge group of
39:01 people. So, I can't get that get that
39:03 view. But as he runs back towards this
39:05 direction, you see that circular
39:07 building right there. He's got the
39:09 suitcase. There used to be a Coca-Cola
39:10 sign above it. But this right here is is
39:15 that views. There's that circular
39:16 building right over there in the
39:18 distance in that courtyard. Means he
39:19 would have got the Johnny cap right
39:21 around in here. Right around in this
39:23 spot. You can match up. So I think these
39:25 were color like a color orange, but now
39:28 they're painted green. But all this
39:30 through here looks the same when the
39:32 John he rips out the the guy that's a
39:34 driver, the taxi cab driver, the Johnny
39:35 cab, and drives off that way through
39:37 this little courtyard here. Pretty neat.
39:40 A little wrap up to what I was showing
39:41 earlier at the over at the subway. All
39:45 right, made it from there. Took an Uber
39:46 back over to the area I'm staying at
39:49 near the
39:51 Zokula. Today was a good
39:58 day. Saw a lot of great stuff. full day
39:58 of
39:59 fun to thank Luis and his family
40:03 for being so kind to do the boat ride
40:06 with me and then hang out and Luis
40:09 showing me quite a few things I didn't
40:10 know about Mexico
40:12 City. Well, that's going to do it for
40:14 today. Thanks for watching. I'll see you
40:16 in the next video. The
