0:03 Welcome everyone. Adam the Woo here as
0:03 the recording of this Sunday, November
0:05 16th, 2025.
0:09 Standing on the back side of the Art
0:11 Deco 7-Eleven in Celebration, Florida.
0:15 Looking at this retention pond,
0:18 I4, Interstate 4, just over the cusp of
0:22 those trees.
0:24 Got my piping hot caffeinated beverage.
0:27 I'm going to take a commute, half hour,
0:29 45 minutes or so, over to the Lakeland
0:32 Winter Haven area. We're going to meet
0:34 up with some friends and have myself a
0:37 day, a cloudy,
0:40 well, half sunny, half cloudy day. A
0:43 little precipitation would be kind of
0:45 nice, but a little
0:48 little sun cover would be good, too.
0:50 Either or.
0:53 Whatever the weather decides. I'm just
0:55 kind of winging it today.
0:57 go to the Winter Haven Lakeland area.
1:00 See what happens.
1:04 And I'm inviting you. Yes, you. It's
1:07 good to have you here to join me.
1:09 Cheers.
1:16 Warm. That's hot.
1:16 Woo.
1:19 Shall you? I always like looking at
1:21 clouds. You can discover
1:23 almost like they're pieces of majestic
1:26 natural artwork.
1:29 You can always look at things and see
1:30 things in the clouds. And with any kind
1:33 of art,
1:35 it's up for artistic inter or personal
1:39 interpretation. Look at this. That
1:41 almost looks like a I was going to say
1:43 almost looks like kind of like a side
1:46 angle Mickey there, but
1:49 not really.
1:51 Took me a little while to get going this
1:53 morning after warp tour last night.
1:55 Ragging around in the circle pit during
1:56 Pennywise.
1:58 Man, that was a good time. Kind of made
2:00 me made me relive my youth. Made me feel
2:02 alive for a few moments doing getting
2:04 the blood flowing, circling around,
2:06 bumping into a bunch of other sweaty
2:08 people. Little slam dancing. Don't know
2:11 if I'll be doing that again anytime
2:12 soon, but man, that was a good time. But
2:15 pop a couple Advil this morning.
2:19 bumps and bruises. All right, I'm going
2:21 get over to the get over to my friend's
2:24 house.
2:37 All right, I have arrived
2:37 in a room that rivals and supersedes in
2:40 great detail more than my little
2:42 corridor of goons.
2:45 This is
2:47 a very expansive setup in here over at
2:50 Kyle's place. You have a name for your
2:53 your room here?
2:54 >> Uh just a retro room. Shout out to
2:56 Robbie. Retro. That's about it.
2:58 >> Just the retro room.
3:00 >> Yeah, pretty much.
3:01 >> Okay.
3:01 >> Pretty much.
3:02 >> I always love that you have the the
3:04 earnest calendar here.
3:05 >> Classic.
3:08 >> You have an old diner. Where'd you get
3:09 the table from?
3:10 >> That came from a roller skating rink in
3:11 Lakeland over there.
3:14 All 80s. You would just like me. You're
3:16 probably 80s is your favorite era,
3:18 right?
3:18 >> Absolutely. The greatest era all time.
3:21 Got the casino high notebook here signed
3:23 by Brandon Fras. You're probably sure.
3:27 >> There's like so much in here to look at.
3:29 I I kind of want to ask you what your
3:31 favorite things are, but you probably
3:32 have a hundred favorite things.
3:33 >> Yeah, absolutely. It's hard to nail
3:35 down.
3:36 >> All the old boom boxes.
3:37 >> Yeah, love those.
3:40 And of course the problem child standy
3:43 over here that you just got. You're
3:44 telling.
3:44 >> Yeah.
3:45 >> Show this here. Well, we were just
3:47 talking about this this class thing.
3:49 >> If you were in high school 1987, you
3:51 were the man. You would put this in your
3:53 locker. It's the locker message. So,
3:56 you'd put this device in your locker and
3:58 then you give these little round things
4:00 to three of your friends and then they
4:02 would blow in the little device which
4:05 would activate the recorder inside.
4:07 >> Oh, that's what that is. Okay. They
4:10 don't talk in that.
4:11 >> You blow in it and it starts recording.
4:13 Leave a message. Say, "Hey, there's a
4:15 party this weekend." And then [laughter]
4:17 >> when they come back, whoever owns it,
4:19 they check their line.
4:20 >> I never even knew that existed.
4:21 >> Crazy.
4:21 >> It's amazing.
4:22 >> 1987.
4:24 >> Freddy's spitballs.
4:26 >> Yeah. Dang. Okay.
4:33 >> You got the little uh section underneath
4:33 the bunk beds.
4:35 >> Got the robot. So, two years ago, the
4:38 last time I came over, the robot met me
4:40 at the door.
4:40 >> That's right. Knew you by name and
4:42 everything.
4:42 >> And it's wild that it's been two years.
4:43 And I know that because you have a golf
4:45 cart. You took me on your golf cart and
4:47 it was right before I moved into the
4:49 house I bought and I got my golf cart
4:50 right after. That's how I know it's been
4:52 2 years.
4:52 >> That's right.
4:55 >> We're going to take a ride on the golf
4:56 cart.
4:57 >> Absolutely.
4:57 >> All right. Cool. [snorts]
5:02 >> This is like your horror section over
5:02 here. Yeah.
5:03 >> Like your little scary corner.
5:05 Old school trickor treat. Not to be
5:07 confused with the the trick or treat
5:09 everyone knows now,
5:10 >> right? 1986 classic.
5:13 Got baby Sinclair wearing the classic
5:15 edge club hat.
5:16 >> Is that the in Atlanta? [laughter] Yeah.
5:18 >> What?
5:19 >> So last night I just went by here and
5:21 showed this cuz this is where the first
5:23 Warp Tour 95 was.
5:24 >> Is that right? Wow.
5:25 >> It was in that It was in that parking
5:26 lot and inside and then in the inside
5:29 and then the shed. The edge shed.
5:31 >> I saw a bush there in 94. Maybe
5:33 >> I was at the bush. Yeah. Were you
5:35 really? [laughter]
5:35 >> Yeah,
5:35 >> that's crazy.
5:36 >> Sound Garden there, STP. First Warp
5:39 Tour.
5:39 >> Wow.
5:41 >> Bad Brains, Ramones, all those all those
5:44 bands there.
5:44 >> Incredible.
5:45 >> That's so crazy. I've never seen any
5:47 merchandise from that. [laughter]
5:49 >> That is cool.
5:50 >> Thanks, man.
5:59 >> Your crazy vinyl over here.
5:59 >> Yeah. Got some uh great outdoors by Dan
6:02 Macro. some of them.
6:03 >> Actually, wasn't that the first place we
6:04 met? Did we meet the first time when uh
6:07 Dan was doing his thing?
6:08 >> No, it would have been at the Outback
6:09 Prom Michael J. Fox
6:11 >> in 2009
6:13 seven.
6:14 >> 2007 or 2008 or nine cuz I think I
6:16 started getting my poster signed, my
6:18 Back to Future poster in '08.
6:20 >> Gotcha.
6:20 >> So, it would have been after that.
6:23 >> Were you at the Celebration Theater?
6:25 Back to Future. That's where we met.
6:26 >> Well, no, before that was it. Or no,
6:28 you're right. You're right. That would
6:29 have been the first time. It's the back
6:31 the golf thing was after that.
6:33 >> Very true.
6:35 >> Monster.
6:35 >> The only way I remember the only way I
6:37 remember any dates is just off of
6:38 events. [laughter]
6:41 >> Love that. Is that a laser disc?
6:43 >> Uhhuh.
6:44 >> Laser disc. And then trick-or- treat
6:45 signed by Mark Price. Skippy from Family
6:48 Ties. Microwave Massacre. That's a rare
6:50 VHS.
6:56 >> I've never heard of that one.
6:56 >> Oh, really?
6:57 >> Is he in that also? No, he's not in
6:59 that. But it's uh this is midnight
7:01 video. Very.
7:02 >> Look at that.
7:03 >> Pretty rare.
7:05 >> Chopping mall over there. The gate. They
7:06 live.
7:07 >> Yeah. Classic
7:09 Cobra Kai.
7:11 I
7:12 >> think it has 8D batteries. But if you
7:14 went to the beach or somewhere and you
7:16 wanted to you you pop in your 45,
7:20 it would just it would just start
7:21 playing.
7:23 >> Oh yeah.
7:26 >> You've been collecting this stuff a long
7:27 time. Yeah,
7:36 >> of course. Mame rad.
7:36 >> Love all these
7:39 kry still sealed.
7:47 >> You have a lot more room in this in this
7:47 room than I do in my little my little
7:49 one.
7:51 >> I love the bunk bed. You just come in
7:52 here and camp out and sleep up here
7:53 sometimes. Yeah, you just sleep sleep in
7:55 the in the nerd room,
7:56 >> right? [laughter]
7:58 You actually have no there's no there's
8:00 no other area of the house. This is
8:01 actually where you live, right? Right in
8:03 the [laughter]
8:03 >> I wish.
8:05 >> This pretty cool. This is a promo from
8:07 the BBS when that came out.
8:09 >> They put a
8:10 >> Oh, binoculars.
8:11 >> Binoculars. Yeah.
8:12 >> So, that's supposed to be like the
8:13 Snoopy Neighbors looking like Tom Hanks
8:16 character.
8:16 >> Cory Feldman.
8:17 >> Or Feldman. Yeah.
8:22 >> Have you ever seen a Hard Ticket to
8:22 Hawaii?
8:25 >> Be cool. Like they showed something in
8:27 there, but
8:28 >> Oh, yeah.
8:28 >> Felman didn't have any binoculars in the
8:30 movie, though, did he? He did. He did.
8:31 >> Oh, that's right. Hey, Rumsfield.
8:36 >> So, Hard Ticket to Hawaii.
8:37 >> Have you ever seen that movie?
8:38 >> No.
8:38 >> It is the most bonkers bananas movie
8:41 you'll ever see in your life. And it is
8:43 it is epic.
8:45 >> You have to watch it. It's
8:46 >> I have to check it out. I like bonkers
8:48 weird movies.
8:49 >> It's insane.
8:50 >> Do you have two copies of Microwave
8:52 Massacre?
8:52 >> No, no, it just moved. [laughter] was
8:54 just telling me the very last metal
8:56 lunchbox ever lunchbox ever made was
8:58 this Rambo one. I mean, it's not the
9:01 last one. It's the last pressing of the
9:03 >> ra the metal before they
9:04 >> I love that you have Blood Beach cuz
9:06 that was filmed the Santa Monica Pier.
9:08 >> Oh, wow.
9:08 >> And it uh the guy from Rocky's in it.
9:12 >> The main uh the brother-in-law from
9:15 Rocky.
9:16 >> Oh, gotcha.
9:16 >> He's in Blood Beach. Pretty sure that
9:19 was Santa Monica Pier.
9:20 >> Cool. in Garbage Pale Kids. The movie is
9:23 classic.
9:24 >> Have you Have you ever watched the Blood
9:25 Beach?
9:26 >> Yes.
9:27 >> It's not that great.
9:28 >> No. But [snorts]
9:30 >> yeah, Paulie, that's his name. Paulie
9:32 from
9:33 >> from Rocky.
9:36 >> Have you seen the stuff?
9:37 >> Oh, yeah. Yeah, definitely. Actually, I
9:39 think I have that on on Blu-ray.
9:41 >> Nice.
9:41 >> Texas Chainsaw, too. Obviously, Chud.
9:44 >> Love some Chud.
9:45 >> Munchies.
9:46 >> You got So, you got a lot of copies of
9:48 Trickor Treat.
9:49 >> Yeah. And Garbage Pail Kids, that's a
9:52 deep cut.
9:53 Nightmare Fuel.
10:02 >> Garbage Pale Kids 45 was a promo, but if
10:02 you went and saw the movie, they came
10:04 out with this or you got this if you
10:06 movie.
10:07 >> Oh, okay. So, you had to show up to the
10:09 theater to get this.
10:10 >> Correct.
10:11 >> Got the ALF pillow just chilling here.
10:14 Laser disc sign. You have a
10:18 little stop sign back, not stop sign,
10:19 but a stop light back there.
10:22 >> You got the got the Franken Hook over in
10:24 the corner.
10:26 >> Remember the VHS? Remember the VHS of
10:27 that? You push it and she'd say one a
10:29 day.
10:29 >> Yeah. The little talking VHS that goes
10:31 big these days.
10:37 >> So, this isn't a laser disc. What
10:37 exactly is this?
10:38 >> This is a CED, capacitative electronic
10:41 disc. came out and the format started I
10:44 think in ' 81.
10:46 Not much better quality than a VHS and
10:48 you'd have to stop the movie halfway
10:49 through
10:50 >> and flip it over.
10:51 >> Flip it over. But um
10:52 >> a CED.
10:53 >> Yeah, CED. Never really took off. And it
10:56 plays with a needle like a like a record
10:58 player actually touches.
11:00 >> Was it before or after laser disc?
11:02 >> Is before. So pretty.
11:06 Pop it in.
11:07 >> It went all the way in like that.
11:08 >> And then you keep the cartridge.
11:12 >> Oh.
11:12 >> And then you flip.
11:13 >> So whatever's in there gets stuck inside
11:15 that.
11:16 >> Exactly. And then you just switch it to
11:18 play.
11:28 >> So how do you know the correct movie is
11:28 inside there? It's a
11:29 >> good point.
11:30 >> You know what I'm saying?
11:39 Look at that. Got the Sweet Night of the
11:39 Creeps poster here.
11:41 >> Love that movie.
11:49 >> This used to be a garage,
11:49 >> like a repurposed garage, right? You got
11:51 the creaky wooden floors, which is
11:53 awesome.
11:54 >> I like amongst all the stuff you just
11:56 have to wedged in here. Here you go.
12:00 Little juke box.
12:02 So I try to do movie inspired uh records
12:05 in here. So this is uh from Nightmare on
12:07 El Street
12:10 Love Kills with the intro by
12:18 this program.
12:18 >> That's awesome. [laughter]
12:20 >> Push it in like you hear it.
12:23 There you go. And this is from Groundhog
12:25 Day.
12:26 >> Yeah, that's the Panasonic
12:28 from Groundhog Day.
12:34 There must not be a lot of these left in
12:34 existence, huh?
12:35 >> No, they're they're pretty rare these
12:36 days. There's a guy on eBay, I think,
12:38 that modifies it so that every morning
12:40 at 6:00 a.m. it'll play the sh Sunni and
12:42 she I got you, babe.
12:44 >> Is that one of them?
12:45 >> That's not one of them. No, this is
12:46 original.
12:48 >> All right. Not many March, but in a golf
12:57 Fun fact, Kyle is one of the reasons
12:57 that put into my brain that I needed to
13:00 have a golf cart
13:02 because I visited right before I bought
13:04 my house. He drove me around the golf
13:07 cart and I thought, you know what?
13:09 I think I I think I need a golf cart
13:11 around Celebration.
13:17 So, I got one.
13:17 Nice little breeze kicking. The Spanish
13:20 moss
13:22 waving in the breeze.
13:43 All right, stopping off here.
13:43 KT's Attic. Hidden gems and treasures.
13:53 Let's do some shopping. Winter Haven
13:53 shopping. Got some vinyl in here. And
13:56 take a look at this candy roll dispenser
13:58 Elvis right here. Take a look at Elvis
14:00 on that huge PEZ dispenser. That's
14:03 That's mass. Look at the size of my
14:04 hand. All right. Here's a nice little
14:06 Florida plate right here. This is the
14:07 area we're in. You got Cypress Gardens
14:10 right up there now. Legoland water
14:11 skiing at Cypress Gardens. Got the
14:13 flamingo. Oh, I wonder if the Florida
14:15 pool's on here. Is the Florida pool on
14:18 here? Nope. Not on there. I thought it's
14:19 over where Cypress Gardens used to Now,
14:21 Legoland was kind of set up like an
14:24 antique mall. They had different little
14:26 booths and things in there.
14:33 Kind of reminds me of like some of the
14:33 shops at the Orange Circle. We have like
14:35 probably 10 or 15 different people have
14:37 their booths and each one has their
14:39 items out. Didn't find anything, but not
14:42 a lot of good stuff in there.
14:43 >> What's that?
14:44 >> So, not today, but yeah, they do have
14:45 good stuff.
14:47 >> All right. at the corner of Avenue D and
14:49 Third Street. So, this would be
14:52 downtown.
14:52 >> Yes, this is a great pizza place.
14:54 Probably the best.
14:56 >> Upper Crust. It's incredible.
14:58 >> The old social club lounge right there.
15:00 So, this would be technically downtown
15:02 Winter Haven.
15:03 >> That's correct. This might be the
15:04 perfect day to cruise around on the golf
15:07 >> Weather's amazing right now. There's
15:11 >> going to lump later.
15:13 >> Later. Okay. No spoilers.
15:17 Kyle recommends a place called Love
15:19 Bird, which is right over there. Don't
15:21 look at it, though. Don't look at it.
15:23 It's later. So, now we're just going to
15:25 this random parking lot.
15:26 >> We're going to cut over to
15:27 >> We're going to do a shortcut.
15:28 >> Got to cut over to the treasure house.
15:31 >> How long you been in this area?
15:33 >> Oh, man.
15:35 >> Your whole life.
15:37 >> The treasure house. Here we go.
15:48 This your own spot.
15:48 You got the Kyle spot. They got it ready
15:50 for you. Love it. Got the rat trap and
15:52 everything. There it is. Treasure House
15:54 Antiques.
15:56 Check it out. It definitely looks like a
15:59 It's like the White House kind of. This
16:01 antique mall has 40 vendors.
16:04 $160. Look at this thing.
16:13 You buy a lot of stuff in here.
16:13 >> I do.
16:15 >> You never know.
16:17 There's always some good stuff.
16:38 These pirate mugs.
16:38 Those are neat. These huge pirate mugs
16:42 like this look rod iron Humpty Dumpty
16:44 there.
16:46 Is that a new school Teddy Rusty? Yeah,
16:48 that's definitely that's definitely not
16:49 the old school.
16:56 Got a little taxiderermy in here. Look
16:56 at this piranha, man.
16:59 Little rat.
17:00 >> Rats in the electric chair.
17:01 >> Oh gosh, no.
17:04 Little blowfish. I'm not the biggest
17:05 taxiderermy guy. It just kind of creeps
17:08 me out. This is like the oddities area.
17:21 >> Oh, look at this. Roy Rogers right here.
17:21 That's probably up at like Oregon movie
17:23 ranch or something in LA. Probably
17:24 guessing.
17:27 Or maybe not, but probably in SoCal
17:28 somewhere.
17:36 Oh, attack of the 50 foot woman.
17:36 >> Which side?
17:36 >> Oh, a mouse at the bar.
17:39 >> Oh, that he's getting a
17:42 >> Getting his drink on.
17:46 That right there is kind of neat,
17:47 though. Little skull carved in like some
17:50 rock.
17:52 Could add this to your cardboard
17:54 standups right there. Look at this
17:56 Budweiser dog and horse.
18:07 Nice globes down here. Tampa Bay Rays
18:07 hat
18:09 there. Little Mickey backpack.
18:19 This got some great stuff in here. Oh,
18:19 Dick Tracy mugs. There's Pacino right
18:29 Good stuff over here.
18:30 >> Dick Tracy there.
18:42 There we go.
18:45 Okay.
18:46 >> Oh, look at the Aussie Mark of the Moon.
18:50 >> Is that for sale?
18:52 >> Oh, yeah. There's the box behind it.
19:02 Hellraiser
19:02 weapon belt. Okay.
19:05 Child, too.
19:13 >> Frankie duck here. Krueger duck.
19:13 11 bucks. That's actually a pretty good
19:14 deal. These look these That's only $10.
19:18 I call them Frank and Duck, but they
19:19 also read my mind and call them Frank
19:21 and Duck.
19:23 Notice how it's not called
19:24 Frankenstein's monster duck.
19:26 >> That's It's a mouthful.
19:28 >> I know. It is. It is. I just call him
19:30 Frankie.
19:30 >> Another critter here.
19:32 >> I really like this though.
19:33 >> That's cool.
19:34 >> These can't be retro. These got to be
19:35 new, right?
19:36 >> A new item.
19:37 >> That's some Lost Boys ducks.
19:44 >> Oh my gosh. Look at this.
19:44 >> Oh my god. It
19:46 >> does have a Samuel Clemens
19:49 look to it. Greg's Greg's Greg has
19:51 arrived also.
19:52 >> Hi.
19:53 >> Also local to the area.
19:54 >> Yeah. Although sadly I've never been in
19:57 here, so I'm excited to uh check it out.
20:00 >> Does it feel weird that I'm in your in
20:02 your town?
20:03 >> Going places you've never been?
20:04 >> Not really. I mean, have you been Have
20:06 you been in here before?
20:06 >> I've never been in here.
20:07 >> Okay. Well, then we're we're on the same
20:08 footing then.
20:09 >> I got the right tour guide today.
20:11 >> Showing us around. We're going to go
20:12 right across the street and eat.
20:14 >> What's What kind of food do they have
20:15 over there?
20:15 >> Oh, man. The greatest chicken uh you'll
20:17 ever
20:18 >> Greatest chicken. Yes. Have you ever
20:19 eaten at the Greatest Chicken Place?
20:21 >> Not this one. And it was started by
20:24 longtime Lakeland record store owner.
20:27 Used to be Woodpecker Records. He used
20:28 to have bands played there over I think
20:30 South Florida.
20:31 >> He started this. There's another one in
20:32 Lakeland. And he's about to roll out
20:34 >> Grievous Angel Smashburgers in Lakeland.
20:37 And that's named after
20:38 >> Are these like twin towns? Like
20:40 >> sort of.
20:41 >> Lakeland and Winter Haven.
20:43 >> I always heard that the rumor was that
20:45 Lakeland and Winter Haven actually had
20:47 their names switched. Oh, I have heard
20:49 that
20:49 >> because like if you ever go to Lakeland,
20:51 there's like there's no lakes over
20:52 there, but when you come over to Winter
20:53 Haven, there's lakes everywhere.
20:55 >> So, it's like
20:56 >> I've never heard that.
20:57 >> The story goes that they got their names
20:59 >> mixed up.
21:00 >> So, we're really in Lakeland right now.
21:02 >> But yeah, the grievous angel is named
21:03 after Graham Parson's Winter Haven guy,
21:05 >> which is right over here, right?
21:06 >> Yeah, that's right. You got to show me
21:08 that, too.
21:09 >> It says vintage tribal woodarve tiki
21:12 mask or wood carved mask. $31. That
21:15 thing is heavy. Kind
21:19 of like that though. Kind of like it. I
21:21 feel like I need to get some stuff. It'd
21:23 be good in my house. This is kind of
21:25 neat, too.
21:26 Mask.
21:29 That's 34.
21:41 >> I don't know what would separate it
21:42 being vintage or current. Like, how
21:43 would you know? Like how the age on that
21:45 is. some belt buckles. I went through a
21:48 belt buckle phase for like one year
21:51 >> back in like the late 90s. Went through
21:53 a one-ear belt buckle phase.
21:55 >> On the hunt for kiss belt buckles.
21:57 >> The kiss belt buckle.
21:58 >> Yeah, those go big.
21:59 >> Plenty of cowboy boots in here. Like
22:01 vintage cowboy boots.
22:12 Should bring back a belt buckle phase.
22:12 Probably never happened, but
22:15 look at this. The fast sword. You can
22:17 count your count your coins that nobody
22:20 uses anymore.
22:25 >> Look at this, Greg. We've been to this
22:26 place a couple times. Dragon Con trips
22:29 the varsity.
22:29 >> Many times. I just wonder how old this
22:31 one is.
22:32 >> Paper hat. $4
22:33 >> website. So,
22:35 >> Oh, yeah. Okay. So, it's too new.
22:37 >> Dang it. [laughter]
22:41 >> It knew we were here together. Who knew
22:41 we just ate there?
22:47 >> I like this Mr. Peanut. Oh, it's a coin
22:47 bank.
22:54 $120 that thing. Yeah. Whoever has this
22:54 booth has a lot of Mr. Peanut stuff. So,
22:57 if you're looking for Mr. Peanut items,
23:00 this is the spot for you.
23:11 Got a train here. You got the last
23:11 supper $30 and this Abe Lincoln bust for
23:14 130 like that Abe Lincoln bust.
23:25 >> How about a raised Raymond
23:25 totem pole here?
23:27 >> Baseball at the bottom with the carving
23:30 there. You got Raymond up top there.
23:32 Ever seen that?
23:35 >> Oh my goodness. Do not prick your finger
23:37 on this thing.
23:43 I'll put you to sleep just like I
23:43 learned from the Disney film. Every time
23:46 I see that, that's just all I think of
23:47 is pricking the finger right there. $125
23:51 for that thing.
23:53 If I have room for that or if I'd want
23:54 it, but
24:11 How about the Foster Brooks Roast
24:12 Dean Martin?
24:13 >> One thing that's interesting, this place
24:15 is way larger once you get inside and
24:18 start walking through all the little
24:19 hallways and corridors and it appears to
24:21 be outside. It's like two attached
24:24 buildings. Look at this old Coca-Cola
24:27 retro Coca-Cola machine right there.
24:35 Cypress Gardens skis.
24:35 >> Oh yeah,
24:37 >> Cypress Garden stuff.
24:39 >> Is that Cypress Gardens?
24:41 >> It looks like it.
24:43 >> Wow, look at that. Cypress Gardens
24:45 jacket.
24:46 >> All right, heading out to the garage
24:48 outdoor area out here. There's a whole
24:51 outdoor section, but there's more
24:53 furniture and stuff like that out here.
25:09 cactuses. All right, this is over in the
25:09 garage area. Take a look at some of
25:10 these pamphlets. Florida events, Bush
25:13 Gardens. There's like a whole mess load
25:14 of them. Two bucks each. Might have to
25:17 get a couple of these.
25:19 Back inside now. This place is so
25:21 overrun with vintage antiques and
25:23 goodness that even the restrooms, the
25:26 usable restrooms have antiques
25:29 for sale.
25:36 That's interesting artwork. Little
25:36 fluffy fluffy bunny right there.
25:40 End up getting both of these. Oh, I'm
25:42 going to buy both of these on the way
25:44 out.
25:51 Just everywhere you look,
25:51 just relics of the past.
26:02 This whole map of Florida has a an area
26:02 identified for Walt Disney World. This
26:04 is pre Animal Kingdom. This is before
26:06 98. Obviously,
26:08 >> you got an up still called MGM Studios
26:10 right there.
26:12 >> Oh, there we go.
26:13 >> Farm Disneyland area, the Sandman Motel.
26:23 This is kind of neat. Laminated
26:23 >> back when that used to be their logo.
26:24 The three, not the four icons.
26:28 >> Oh, still called Epcot Center.
26:30 >> All right. Right next door. We took the
26:32 golf cart over here, but in actuality,
26:35 it's on the other side of the garage
26:36 where they have the antiques. So, we
26:38 could have just walked over. You showed
26:40 me this last time a couple years ago.
26:42 >> What's the history on the Dairy Down?
26:44 Graham Parson's a Winter Haven resident
26:46 tied to the Snively family I believe
26:48 from Cypress Gardens. He became kind of
26:50 a big country western artist. Um I think
26:53 he was in the Birds Birds.
26:55 >> He was friends with a lot of the uh
26:56 Rolling Stones guys and I think did an
26:58 album with Emily Lou Harris
27:00 >> and then overdosed I think at the age of
27:02 26 or so and uh his friends stole his
27:06 body off of LAX and um burned his body
27:09 in effigy at the Joshua Tree. They made
27:11 a whole movie of it starring Christine
27:12 Alvate, Johnny Knoxville
27:14 >> called Grand Theft Parsons. Check it
27:17 >> And this is where he used to practice.
27:19 >> Yes. Yeah. I think his was it his
27:20 father, stepfather built this for him as
27:23 a place to practice. There's a plaque
27:25 over there. It tells
27:26 >> Maybe I should get and look at the
27:26 plaque even though you guys have already
27:28 >> shared it with me. [laughter]
27:32 >> That's cool though. Right next to the
27:32 antique shop, the treasure house.
27:36 Dairy down 1964.
27:40 Bob Parsons opened the dairy down in
27:42 this building.
27:44 A themed club primary purpose was to
27:46 give his stepson Grant Parson's
27:48 performance venue with his folk band. Do
27:51 they still Do they use it? I didn't know
27:52 you were standing behind me. I thought
27:53 you were still in the car. You startled
27:54 me. They still use this for stuff.
27:56 >> Yeah, they use it as a like a venue,
27:59 >> man. That's cool.
28:07 >> Very cool. It was refurbished. Um,
28:07 >> yeah. A couple year like 2013.
28:15 >> Parson's recorded two
28:15 genre bending solo albums
28:19 >> with the Flying Burrito Brothers.
28:21 >> Luke Harris.
28:23 >> There it is. Yeah. Joshua Matree.
28:26 Wow.
28:28 Pretty fascinating stuff.
28:34 Little little music history here in
28:34 Winter Haven. The Staybridge Hotel was
28:38 not there. Then
28:47 we're on our way to a little grocery
28:47 Florida grocery store history. The first
28:48 Publix,
28:51 which I think I've been to a couple
28:53 times, but it's been a while. Since
28:55 we're right over by here, we figure
28:57 we'll check it out. There's the water
28:58 tower also.
29:08 water tower up there.
29:08 >> Oh, there it is.
29:09 >> So, Greg, is this the This was the first
29:11 one that it was used, the first one
29:13 built.
29:13 >> This is the first one that they operated
29:15 out of. So,
29:16 >> which side of the plaque am I looking
29:18 at? The left side of the plaque.
29:19 >> Yeah, the left side.
29:20 >> So, this one here?
29:21 >> 58 Fourth Street Northwest.
29:23 >> The first one they operated out was. So,
29:25 this is the very, very first one.
29:27 >> And then they built the other one down
29:28 the road.
29:30 For some reason, I thought it was in
29:31 Lakeland, but it's it's not. It's Winter
29:33 Haven.
29:43 >> I think it used to be a Mexican place.
29:43 I've eaten there before.
29:44 >> Oh, you've eaten in the building?
29:45 >> Yeah. I didn't know it was the first
29:46 Publix at the time. They didn't have the
29:48 plaque up there.
29:53 >> Cuz the area we're going past is called
29:53 Time Square. A
29:55 >> great restaurant here. Arabella.
29:57 Arabella. Yeah. A little less hectic
29:58 than New York time. New York Times
30:00 Square.
30:02 >> Is this the Ritz?
30:03 >> That's the Rits.
30:05 >> The
30:05 >> putting on the Rits.
30:08 >> It's still an active theater.
30:28 Oh, there's one of my favorite
30:28 restaurants in El Lebo.
30:31 >> Oh, right there. Hello Lebo.
30:35 >> So, this is the second Publix. Now, a
30:37 St. Matthew.
30:38 >> Yes, I've been to this one. I think I
30:40 did an old video here.
30:42 >> But I didn't know about the other one.
30:43 So, this was the first built Publix.
30:45 >> Correct. Right. And it had there's a
30:47 first store thing with the uh automatic
30:48 doors.
30:51 >> Look at that. Yep. Publix started right
30:54 here and it's within two blocks there's
30:56 both the first two Publixes.
31:06 It's now a Christian bookstore and
31:06 thrift shop
31:15 is also the water ski capital of the
31:15 world. All right, we're now about to
31:16 cross the road to go over to Loveird.
31:19 Their their uh slogan says almost famous
31:22 chicken. Almost famous chicken.
31:24 >> It's the greatest chicken you ever had.
31:26 >> Greatest. Okay, you're hyping it up
31:27 pretty good.
31:28 >> Can you eat inside or is it just a
31:30 drivethrough?
31:30 >> You eat inside or outside?
31:32 >> All right. Get the almost greatest
31:35 almost famous chicken. Well, the
31:36 greatest chicken I'm ever about to ever
31:38 have.
31:40 But it's almost famous chicken is their
31:42 slogan. Is it named after the movie
31:45 almost famous? I don't think so.
31:47 Probably not.
31:48 I think it's just a clever thing that it
31:50 was almost famous. It's famous here in
31:52 Winter.
31:52 >> All right, so we ended up getting a
31:54 really good chicken meal. Also like the
31:57 decorations on the inside of the place
31:59 are really awesome. Definitely a really
32:01 cool place. A place I would not have
32:03 expected to be in Winter Haven. Figured
32:06 like a place to be like closer to like a
32:08 bigger populated city area like Orlando
32:11 or LA or something. Lumpard
32:15 definitely a cool spot. like the artwork
32:17 they had on the walls, all the little
32:18 spoofs that they had
32:22 and the different menu. I had a couple
32:24 different sides, kind of jalapeno corn,
32:27 and I got a mac and cheese and I got
32:29 something called the God feather, which
32:31 was this chicken sandwich. This was just
32:33 way too much, way too much food, but I
32:36 ended up devouring it. Good chicken
32:39 place.
32:40 Loveird, Winter Haven. I guess there's
32:43 one in Lakeland also.
33:01 And now we're back on the golf cart
33:01 cruising around.
33:14 Cornels been there forever since the
33:14 60s.
33:15 What is that?
33:17 >> They do.
33:17 >> Andy Thor.
33:18 >> Yeah. Outers.
33:22 >> Is this the old train station? I think
33:24 so.
33:25 >> It looks like it, right?
33:26 >> Mhm. It's like a Edward Jones now. Yeah.
33:30 That's like an old train station. Look
33:33 at that thing. That's cool.
34:29 All right, we're now in a boat.
34:29 Thanks to Kyle taking me out on the
34:32 boat. The family boat.
35:08 Just realized that because of the day of
35:08 the week it is, the marina might not be
35:11 open with fuel. So, we might not be able
35:14 to go too far in the boat. Doesn't have
35:16 a lot of gas in the tank right now. So,
35:17 we're going to the marina and if it's
35:20 open, we'll fuel up. We'll get a lot
35:22 farther with with gas than we will
35:24 without gas.
35:39 Like how Kyle has put on his outdoor
35:39 gear now. You got your You got your boat
35:42 driving gear on.
35:47 I didn't bring a second set of clothes,
35:47 though. I just got the t-shirt and
35:49 Crocs.
37:09 Oh, I like these walkways.
37:09 Look at that.
37:20 That's traffic going right over this
37:20 one. This little overpass.
37:37 So, is every one of these lakes
37:37 connected by little canals?
37:39 >> Yes. Built by hand, I think in the 20s,
37:42 30s.
37:45 >> The canals were built by hand.
37:47 >> Yeah. Really?
37:48 >> Are manmade.
38:19 A little bar up here. Seems to be a live
38:19 band. I hear a drum set.
38:33 >> Drum solo.
38:33 Rock on.
38:40 >> Ah, this is Florida.
38:43 >> Quintessential Florida right here.
38:46 >> This is where they sell China American
38:48 closing scene.
38:49 >> China end scene of China. the movie
38:50 China Moon in that parking lot.
38:58 Hopefully they have gas.
38:58 All right. Success.
39:00 >> We're fueled up.
39:03 We were on fumes, man.
39:05 >> We were on fumes.
39:07 >> Right over here is the old school Mickey
39:09 D's. Still has the golden arch and all
39:11 that as those two birds fly by. If you
39:13 want to go to McDonald's, which we're
39:15 not cuz we already ate, you could park
39:17 your boat right there. And right up
39:19 there is the kitties up there. Really
39:22 close to where we just ate at the
39:24 chicken place.
39:47 Look like there's some people fishing up
39:47 here.
39:49 Guy's casting his net in.
39:52 What kind of fish are in here?
39:55 >> Catfish.
39:56 >> Catfish. Bass.
40:11 Hoping to get him cast in the net. But
40:11 sunset cruise.
40:14 Fast cruise. Let's focus. Let's focus
40:17 moving.
40:19 Got some up.
40:34 Yeah.
40:34 Couple lakes over is where Cypress
40:36 Gardens is. And we're heading back
40:38 before it gets too dark. So, not not
40:40 this time.
40:46 Take a look at the little small planes
40:46 that are landing over there.
40:50 They go across the lake.
40:53 Little landing strip.
40:55 This is nice.
40:59 Perfect weather. I can't imagine in the
41:00 summertime during the day how hot it is
41:03 out here with the sun permeating, but
41:05 right now it's pretty nice.
41:45 That's so cool. There's all these little
41:45 little connections to all the legs, the
41:46 chain of legs.
41:54 Oh, wow. What are those
41:54 big birds?
42:37 Oh, they're pulling a tube right there.
42:38 They're pulling somebody behind them.
42:40 Getting some water sports out here. It's
42:42 not even I say it's a little cool and
42:44 getting a little cool and crisp as the
42:46 sun's going down. So, you're probably
42:49 feeling the chill in the water there.
42:53 Look at this little sunset haze out
43:17 All right, sunset. Going back to the
43:17 dock.
43:18 That was cool. That was really cool.
43:21 Thanks to Kyle for taking me out. It was
43:24 unexpected, but very nice.
43:31 Made it back to Celebration now. Almost
43:31 home.
43:33 Nightfall has reared its head.
43:36 It's dark.
43:38 Made it back home.
43:40 Looking at my porch pilgrim
43:44 and my Thanksgiving decor.
44:06 That's going to do it for today. Thanks
44:06 for watching. We'll see you in the next
44:09 video. The vlog is
