0:05 good morning Dothan good to see you it's
0:05 a very overcast 55 degrees and I need
0:09 coffee
0:10 are you ready for this are you ready for
0:13 this
0:32 that's a really big peanut oh yes Dunkin
0:32 Donuts but I can no longer go through
0:35 drive-thru so gotta go inside
0:37 welcome everyone out of the whoo here
0:39 you know what the greatest thing about
0:40 having an RV or back when it's up to my
0:42 van is if you stay at a hotel you don't
0:45 want to check out early because you paid
0:46 for the hotel but you're sleeping at a
0:49 parking lot or off-the-beaten-path you
0:51 wake up early and you get that worm or
0:54 that coffee
1:00 hot it's my second channel daily War
1:00 Channel my tongue is cozy it's the daily
1:05 whoo as the traffic goes by they have
1:09 the ability to honk first night sir the
1:13 pig says right there on the side honk
1:16 for him this is the monument to a pig
1:20 that's for you buddy that's right come
1:24 on come on here's a pretty cool mural
1:27 there Wow and also one recognizing the
1:30 steamboat era 1800s and 1925 come on
1:35 Bennett that's right you don't need a
1:37 gun Bennett you don't need the guy in
1:39 come on in my travels I always stumble
1:42 upon things that are designated the
1:43 world's tallest the world's largest the
1:45 world's longest something well right
1:47 here in Dothan is the world's smallest
1:50 city block designated by Guinness Book
1:54 of World Record right on the corner of
1:55 college and apple tree they just passed
2:00 it they didn't even see it it's so small
2:02 it went unnoticed it's even been given
2:05 its own granite marker signifying this
2:08 event no that's not a gravestone that's
2:12 a historical significant marker wonder
2:14 how much it would be to purchase that
2:16 entire city block put some condos up
2:18 gentrify it get rid of lot of the
2:20 riffraff you know make it a better place
2:22 some people's American dream is to own
2:25 an entire city block and here they make
2:28 it almost feasible
2:42 that's pretty cool a truck is just
2:42 sitting on the railroad tracks
2:44 they insert some sort of mechanism on
2:48 the tires to make it drivable to do
2:51 maintenance on the railroad should buy a
2:52 conversion kit for Large Marge
2:54 take her on the open rails what if there
2:57 was one really hungry cow that could eat
3:00 all those hay bales in one sitting
3:03 you have to have a really big belly at
3:06 first I noticed the coca-cola sign mural
3:09 on the front and then I see that it says
3:13 bowling company was that an old bowling
3:15 alley and maybe that says Dowling oh I
3:18 think it says Dowling my favorite kind
3:21 of old town oh look at that coca-cola
3:23 alert this says dead end yeah
3:27 I'm going this way anyway not the
3:30 greatest road conditions and yet they
3:32 were right it is a dead end that's a
3:34 very muddy river it almost looks like
3:38 chocolate milk augustus Gloop would have
3:43 a field day and that thing right down
3:47 here is the location of the hanging of
3:51 bill sceeto near this site on December
3:58 3rd 1864 bill sceeto a Methodist
4:01 minister was hanged by Newton Home
4:03 Guards who thought he was a traitor to
4:07 the Confederacy way before this new
4:09 bridge was put in place there used to be
4:11 an old bridge and next to it was a tree
4:13 right in here along the waterway there
4:16 and he was so tall they had to dig a
4:18 hole in order for the hanging to work
4:22 correctly according to some people later
4:24 it was found out that those accusations
4:27 were not based in truth and some say his
4:30 ghost still haunts this bridge lots of
4:33 these military helicopters around here
4:35 that is the boll weevil in and while
4:38 that is an unusual name it really is not
4:41 that unusual for the town of enterprise
4:43 you can see the water tower way down
4:47 there no other place holds a candle to
4:50 honoring the
4:52 other than here in Alabama in fact right
4:55 smack downtown is a statue of a woman
4:59 holding a boll weevil and right up at
5:02 the top of the ural here on the side of
5:04 this building is that infamous creature
5:08 himself placed here on December 11th
5:12 1919 and profound appreciation and what
5:17 it is done is The Herald of prosperity
5:20 as the story goes the main crop in town
5:23 was cotton and that little bugger
5:24 destroyed all of the crops forcing the
5:28 town to diversify and to other avenues
5:31 and now they took that bad thing made it
5:34 a good thing and are now holding that
5:37 thing on a pedestal when holy crap that
5:41 thing scary right
5:44 it does look very majestic there in
5:46 front of the Sun I've never seen a
5:49 fountain smack dab in the middle of an
5:53 intersection before wonder if anyone's
5:55 ever smashed into it tried to take it
5:58 out try to eliminate it erased from
6:03 existence how's it going
6:12 this is your hometown offer you're from
6:12 Florida okay
6:13 you live here where the boll weevil is
6:22 okay I was just checking out the boll
6:22 weevil statue alright so you moved from
6:26 Florida up here to live with the boll
6:28 weevil alright nice talking to you
6:32 alright have a good one
6:34 it has happened in fact in 1998 two
6:36 teenagers destroyed the monument and the
6:39 old one supposedly is that the museum
6:42 located inside the old railroad station
6:45 hopefully it's open today and it's not
6:52 from what it looks like it's also the
6:54 town seal on the trash cans it looks
6:58 like at one point the railroad came
6:59 right here across the road you can still
7:01 see the indentations of the track this
7:04 relic just chilling there against the
7:07 side of the wall it's an old movie
7:09 theater saw in college cinema
7:20 doesn't get much more small-town than
7:20 this the grocery outlets that my friends
7:24 is not a super center she's holding a
7:27 doughnut here instead of the bug I guess
7:30 doughnuts take precedence the more I
7:39 think about it it would be pretty
7:41 interesting to see one of those
7:44 creatures chowing down on a glazed
7:47 doughnut I'm gonna get some lunch in
7:49 this place called cuts restaurant has
7:51 that old-school diner feel to it it's
7:54 like school cafeteria style but add in a
7:57 little buffet I think I'm gonna get
7:59 fried chicken photos of Don Knotts on
8:02 the wall some sort of seasoning it's
8:04 like in a jar just like vegetables some
8:08 pepper in there other assorted goodness
8:10 this elementary school used to be the
8:12 high school and on March 1st 2007 a
8:15 horrible tornado came through and
8:19 wreaked a lot of devastation in fact a
8:23 number of students were killed the
8:26 restaurant I just ate at had a little
8:28 memorial on the wall to them I want to
8:31 check out what the property looks like
8:34 today there's a news photo of this
8:37 parking lot full of cars and a lot of
8:39 the cars were thrown over into that
8:41 football field right over the hill
8:44 pretty crazy that a tornado is that
8:48 powerful we could just pick a car up and
8:50 launch it down onto a football field
8:54 from what I can tell the top of this
8:55 hill is where the old school was and
8:58 they have bulldozed it but this angle
9:00 here is where George Bush showed up to
9:04 survey the damage he walk down those
9:07 stairs there was lots of crash cars
9:10 right here at the bottom of this hill
9:14 this fence was knocked down and there
9:16 was a full-size vehicle on its back
9:19 laying right there on the sidewalk
9:23 Wow it's incredible don't be alarmed
9:33 because that's just the nude siren but
9:37 that's the same tornado siren that went
9:41 off that day
9:52 kind of a weird feeling here about
9:52 there's the NBC storm Ranger I've never
9:57 seen one of those before
9:59 that's a real-life storm chaser are the
10:01 glory days of video rental businesses
10:04 movie gallery Bow Wow Wow another one
10:09 bites the dust on the side of the road
10:11 you see lots of cows chickens donkeys
10:15 and horses but these are sheep hello
10:23 sheep that there on the sign is doc
10:25 can't you tell our Foods good yes he's
10:30 duck he has a country store man this
10:33 place looks awesome and next door to it
10:35 is booth farms hello there
10:40 cow oh it's not real it's a statue I
10:45 thought you were just being perfectly
10:47 still oh my gosh look at these cute
10:49 little guys that's a zebra right there
10:52 is that skunk southern belle brand pure
10:57 lard dang there's another one that's the
11:01 third one today Oh video warehouse
11:04 you've also gone away
11:06 pound pound pile another one bites the
11:09 dust stop it says the speed limits 85
11:12 through this residential area yeah I
11:17 think it is there's a bunch of portable
11:20 houses over there themed all differently
11:23 what about those are used for currently
11:25 in Andalusia Alabama what is commonly
11:29 known as the white shirt capital of the
11:34 world because the textile mill here
11:36 pushes these things out by the boatload
11:40 these are his legs he's running he's
11:43 running
11:44 he promised me oh there's that place
11:49 time for a fill-up currently
11:52 less than a quarter of a tank here goes
11:56 it's pumping go go go go Oh I don't know
12:03 why I'm chanting like that it's gonna go
12:04 whether I do it or not this particular
12:06 gas station stopped the sale at $75
12:09 probably for safety reasons when it
12:12 comes to credit cards whoa
12:16 no it filled it up oh heck yeah
12:20 two dollars six cents a gallon in this
12:22 neck of the woods
12:37 it's an old abandoned gas station here
12:37 and in front of it this piece of heavy
12:40 machinery and as you continue on even
12:46 farther
12:57 it's an old tow truck also on the
12:57 property is like a meld between Doc
13:01 Brown's vehicle and a first incarnation
13:04 of what looks to be an RV just rusting
13:09 away right there next to the woods
13:18 the name of this waterway is murder
13:18 Creek you can't make this stuff up and
13:22 you know what that is backwards come and
13:27 play with us Danny Redrum Redrum one day
13:32 you didn't let me finish my sentence I
13:35 said I'm not gonna hurt you I'm only
