0:20 welcome everyone Adam the whoo here
0:20 today's adventure begins with the very
0:22 dreary and overcast morning as I've
0:25 crossed the state line into Alabama a
0:29 cross-country journey the nooks the
0:32 crannies the non populated areas no
0:37 theme parks no major attractions just
0:41 good old Americana for my second of my
0:44 nine state challenge one per day we'll
0:49 be focusing mostly on the bottom
0:52 southern portion heading west kind of in
0:57 this general area I'm inviting you to
0:58 join me starting to sprinkle show you
1:08 straight ahead the town of Cottonwood
1:17 was to be an old mill here on the right
1:17 for the production of peanuts
1:34 when does gusting and making quite the
1:34 racket over there without a loose metal
2:20 just barely hanging on hold strong metal
2:20 gutter remnants of the past here painted
2:26 on the side of the brick you can always
2:27 tell what an establishment used to be
2:29 even years later based on these
2:40 what was the general store over there
2:40 not even a stoplight just a blinking
2:43 yellow one at this intersection
2:58 Danford x' quick mark the backside of
2:58 this has been removed fallen
3:07 and the shop is closed a convenience
3:07 store
3:15 nice shot of the water tower peeking up
3:15 there over the top portion is gloomy
3:38 you know you're in a secluded area when
3:38 there is a weight limit signage for
3:42 vehicles I'm good
3:45 the road narrows
3:48 it's not a single lane bridge but
3:52 pretty close quarters if you had two big
3:55 automobiles on the pavement has changed
4:01 into more of a whoa little bumpy oh
4:04 let's went over a pothole to more of a
4:08 gravel substance there's some cotton
4:11 it's a field of cotton
4:32 the bustling community of Madrid corner
4:32 of Commerce Street and Decatur no more
4:38 fuel available at this particular
4:42 station quaint little Church building
4:47 over there I'd say at one point this
4:52 residence used to have a business in a
4:56 mechanic shop next to his homestead
5:08 gridlock level
5:08 at zero
5:10 absolutely none
5:42 don't do that that field just goes on
5:42 and on and on so see if cotton
6:08 Oh
6:59 free ice for fishermen dr. pepper glory
6:59 no telling what year that was painted on
7:02 they're serious old school very
7:09 difficult to make out but written on the
7:12 door that rusted out door states auto
7:15 repair far left of the screen I believe
7:19 it's an outhouse
7:38 Suns finally starting to peak out a
7:39 little
8:48 the church windows are not stained-glass
8:48 the kind of tinted marble
9:03 now I've heard of Sunday school and
9:03 morning service not familiar however
9:06 with a training union that's been
9:08 scratched out
10:01 right they spotted me
10:01 they spotted me
10:12 downtown Sampson there's a megaphone
10:12 placed up there on that telephone pole
10:15 way up there around the back alley this
10:32 statement might not be relevant in this
10:36 day and age nonetheless how cool is that
11:00 Kinston water tower on the horizon this
11:00 shop is closed on Mondays
11:17 as stated the few locals at the post
11:17 office they're in the middle of this
11:19 little section it's coming down again
11:38 doing all right doing good there okay
11:38 stick together
12:03 picking your nose huh yeah I do that
12:03 sometimes I get it
12:11 on the top of porn Hill sits this
12:11 grocers or former grocers
12:18 then I have this umbrella drove a little
12:23 bit of a ways
12:24 first thing I'm greeted with when
12:26 pulling into Bruton is this mural of
12:29 some gentleman on a river on top of logs
12:33 and that is a heck of an awesome looking
12:36 auto parts shop pronto and I like how
12:40 the railroad tracks line up parallel to
12:42 the shops
12:43 it's almost unnoticeable at this point
12:46 it faintly make out the furniture store
12:50 and we'll goodness water's coming down
13:14 if you're looking for a bar that was the
13:14 ideal 1-var is falling off but it's a
13:20 clever name
13:21 that's a rather good-sized painting to
13:25 say the least
13:28 what's the logging in this region as
13:31 shown here
13:33 in fact there goes
13:41 a logging truck now the Ritz theater is
13:41 once on this spot
13:43 the last film it played was Crocodile
13:45 Dundee back in 87
13:52 known as the hub of the community and
13:52 even though it's gone
13:53 they have built this in its place as an
13:58 homage which also bears the signage
14:09 currently it's a banquet hall you can
14:09 make out what it used to be one is the
14:13 rain job doesn't as a kid though that's
14:17 what that is
14:33 a very unique looking Bank facade closed
14:33 in 1912 opened in 1889
15:27 there really isn't an inch of clear sky
15:27 all clouds
16:41 the O is a heart these style are always
16:41 very interesting made out of plastic not
16:43 a metal sign or wood a plastic probably
16:47 seventies ish and just across the way
16:51 there it's the Strand theater
