0:05 Today's adventure begins as a recording
0:06 of this TGIF Friday
0:14 227
0:14 2025. Heading over to King's Cross.
0:18 Just checked out of my hotel
0:22 which is known as the Kings Cross in.
0:32 stayed over there and check it out. And
0:32 going outside the greater London area to
0:34 a place I've wanted to go for a long
0:35 time,
0:37 Stonehenge.
0:46 Need coffee first. Welcome everyone.
0:46 Adam the Woo here. Going to be utilizing
0:48 the train system today to get over to
0:50 Stonehenge. And then after that going to
0:53 head elsewhere, not coming back over to
0:56 the London area. Going to do other
0:58 England things. I'm inviting you to join
1:01 me.
1:03 Shall you Starbucks over here. It's kind
1:07 of interesting, too, which is I've never
1:08 really seen this except in the UK. You
1:12 have to wait for certain trains. Not the
1:14 train I'm taking, but for certain
1:16 trains, you have to wait up here until
1:18 they tell you
1:20 what section of the track you have to go
1:22 over to,
1:24 what area to to run to. So, everyone
1:26 waits here. you don't get like a heads
1:27 up. So, everyone waits here and as soon
1:30 as they are alerted then they just dart
1:32 over to their area.
2:13 what's there now is actually
2:42 10:15 well 10:17 right now
2:42 currently
3:01 That is called a Water Bowser.
3:01 It's a water Bowser. Whatever that is.
3:05 Water Bowser.
3:08 Taking off.
3:10 53 lbs for the train ride. Got my uh
3:15 ticket here. One way
3:29 park in the station
3:29 about an hour and a half to Salsbury.
3:31 Then from there
3:43 junction maintenance stop over George
3:43 over great and ssbury expect
3:47 1135sbury
3:56 safety information is displayed all
3:58 in anyone please going
4:03 after
4:06 610
4:12 any help or anything.
4:30 but before that we're going to pick up
4:30 etc.
4:39 I downloaded a speedometer app shows how
4:39 fast I'm going. 91 milesPH.
4:43 This thing has a book in it.
4:55 Just slowed down. I'm going slow down.
4:57 Only 90.
4:59 Let's
5:48 All right, arrived about an hour and 20
5:48 minutes.
6:05 Just across just across from the station
6:05 is a place that you can pay a few
6:08 pounds, store your luggage. Just want to
6:11 put my bags over in here called the
6:14 Hetty Bells Pub.
6:16 I drop my bag off, bags off, I should
6:19 say.
6:21 A couple different modes of
6:22 transportation to get over to Stonehenge
6:24 from here. You got the buses, got taxis.
6:33 Think it's about a half hour from here.
6:33 All right, I took a taxi over about 15
6:36 20 minute ride. Arrive now at the
6:38 visitor center
6:41 and go inside, get some information, and
6:43 then head over to the stones. This
6:44 marker was set up for a
6:48 sergeant.
6:50 and a captain who while flying
6:54 they crashed right here back in 1912.
7:02 Captain Lraine and Staff Sergeant
7:02 Wilson.
7:08 Small stones you see in a large circle
7:08 around you. There are 56 of them. They
7:10 are occupying what we call the Aubrey
7:11 Hall. We're not actually sure that's the
7:13 same. Through the centuries and the
7:15 millennia, some stones were added. Some
7:16 stones were moved around. This stone you
7:18 see lying flat right here in front of
7:20 you, that is the alter stone. That's the
7:21 stone that geological testing just last
7:23 year around June and July determined
7:25 came from Scotland 400 miles away.
7:28 That's the furthest we know of any stone
7:29 having been transported on. It's placed
7:31 there to align with the winter solstice
7:33 sunset. It's more elaborate than what
7:35 they did for the summer solstice because
7:36 the winter solstice was more important
7:38 to them. That's when the days would
7:40 start getting longer. They could start
7:41 planting their crops and growing the
7:42 central trilog. So we no longer get that
7:44 great view of the winter solstice sunset
7:46 today. This last still standing stone of
7:49 the central trilabon is the tallest
7:50 stone you'll see when you go out to the
7:52 monument today. You'll notice the bump
7:54 on top that's not there by accident.
7:56 That corresponds with the hole in the
7:57 fallen lintil stone here. And that's
7:59 because they didn't just rely upon
8:01 gravity to keep the lintil stones in
8:03 place on top. They actually sculpted
8:05 them to fit together using a tongue and
8:07 groove system similar to Legos if you
8:09 will. And is a prehistoric temple. The
8:11 stones are aligned with the movements
8:14 of the sun. Stonehenge is also a
8:17 masterpiece of a masterpiece of
8:20 engineering built by sophisticated
8:22 people. And Stonehenge is also part of a
8:26 complex prehistoric landscape truly
8:30 knows the reasoning. The purpose of
8:31 Stonehenge is lost to us. There will
8:33 always be a debate about its meaning.
8:43 a timeline starting back in 3000 BC
8:43 with the Aubry hole pillars here,
8:47 the heel stone here, and then fast
8:50 forward a little bit to
8:53 2500
8:55 before Christ.
8:57 And you have blue stones here, the
9:00 Sarsson circle, the north barrerow, the
9:03 heel stone, something called the
9:05 slaughter stone right there, and then
9:08 you're getting into 2200 BC. And then
9:13 today, the ruin temple.
9:15 Here's an example of one of the stones
9:18 here. I believe this is a recreation
9:20 just like the rest of this little
9:22 village out here. However, as the guide
9:25 inside was explaining, almost like a
9:27 Lego set, this was the connecting top
9:30 point. So, part towards the ground, the
9:32 connecting
9:37 point there. He compared it to like a
9:37 the way a Lego set up.
9:41 The people who built Stonehenge probably
9:44 lived in houses
9:48 similar to these.
10:10 Back in 1986, this was designated part
10:14 of a world heritage site. This is the
10:18 Stonehenge landscape.
10:20 Currently standing right there where it
10:22 says you are here. Going to take a bus
10:26 up there at number five which is
10:28 Stonehenge. But you can see there's all
10:30 these other areas as well.
10:42 Gateway your journey across an
10:42 incredible landscape.
10:45 Constant buses to and from to and fro.
10:58 All right, there it is
11:01 in all its glory. Stonehenge right here
11:04 off the landscape here in the middle of
11:06 this massive field
11:09 and you can't get right up to the rocks.
11:14 Yeah, little stansions here. As close as
11:17 you can get is right here.
11:36 It is wild to be standing here because
11:38 I've always known about this. Never
11:40 thought I would see it with my own eyes.
11:41 I've seen so many reproductions, spoofs,
11:46 versions of this in other areas.
11:50 Car hinge. I've been to Carhen. I've
11:52 been to Foam Henge,
11:55 but never the real Stonehenge.
12:02 Seen videos on it, photos,
12:02 documentaries.
12:04 Of course, Clark Griswald knocked over
12:12 Stonehenge in European Vacation Chvy
12:12 Chase. That was a set that they built.
12:15 That was not the real Stonehenge, but
12:17 looked a lot like it.
12:21 Backed his car up into one of the rocks,
12:24 toppled it all over like dominoes.
12:31 For some reason, I thought I was going
12:32 to be able to get a little closer than
12:33 this, but this is as close as you can
12:34 get.
12:36 Makes sense, though. I'm sure at one
12:37 point you probably could get a little
12:39 closer. But nowadays, there's so many
12:40 people coming out here. The more you
12:42 touch the rock, the more it would
12:44 decompose.
12:47 Could be issues. So,
13:04 This is one of those unusual mysteries.
13:04 No one really knows. And imagine how
13:06 difficult it would have been to get
13:09 these to this point to build this out
13:11 here in the middle of nowhere.
13:17 Everybody has their theories, but no one
13:17 really knows. Some say by water, some
13:20 say by land.
13:30 And obviously they have to be buried
13:30 farther down into the ground to keep
13:31 them standing. They're not just they're
13:34 not just sitting standing on the ground
13:36 there. All right. Here's an itemized
13:38 list of what each of them are called.
13:42 Very windy out here.
13:52 Trilithon
13:52 trilon there ton
13:55 the blue stones sarsson horseshoe the
13:59 sarsson circle and the solstice axis
14:03 runs right down the middle almost
14:06 exactly like this. So you're kind of
14:07 right on the solstice axis.
14:31 There's a walkway that goes all the way
14:31 around.
14:32 Of course, that's way back here, but you
14:36 can continue just walking around,
14:37 getting any photos and videos you so
14:39 choose.
14:51 really fascinating.
14:51 I think even more than that also is just
14:53 being here
14:55 after knowing this exists for my whole
14:57 life and never being here before and now
14:59 I'm standing here.
15:03 I think in a way that is even more
15:05 exciting than just seeing the rocks
15:06 here.
15:11 One of the most famous landmarks in the
15:11 world.
15:20 Like everyone has heard of or knows of
15:22 If you showed a picture of this to
15:23 anyone,
15:25 they would have a general idea of what
15:27 it is and say, "Oh, it's Stonehenge."
15:29 You got this arrow here saying the
15:32 midsummer sun sunrise that direction.
15:35 Then you follow the arrow. Should they
15:37 be towards the mid winter?
15:42 sunset which is over in this direction.
15:58 It's also interesting the loop that you
16:00 do around. You get over to this section,
16:02 you are really pretty far away from the
16:05 stones where if you're on that side,
16:07 you're a little closer. The closest
16:08 point would be right over there. And I'm
16:10 also noticing there's this moat that
16:12 goes around like a 3/4 moat. Well, this
16:15 completely goes around and there's like
16:17 more ground there and then the moat
16:18 begins again or at least a ditch
16:21 for a purpose of some sort there. And
16:24 then right in the middle of the moat are
16:26 all the stones.
16:28 But this is really the farthest point
16:30 when you're walking around the circle
16:32 that the people the walkway is. And
16:35 there were other items built out here as
16:37 well, like off on the horizon over
16:40 there.
16:42 This uh Stonehenge was not the first
16:44 monument in this landscape. The area has
16:46 been important to
16:48 kneel with people for hundreds of years
16:51 before building work started. Stretching
16:54 across the landscape in front of you,
16:55 700 meters away, is Stonehenge.
16:59 Cursus built 500 years before Stonehenge
17:04 started. 735
17:06 735.
17:18 This is definitely why the most
17:18 congregation of people are on this side
17:20 because this is as close as you could
17:21 stand
17:23 behind the ropes to the stones.
17:35 One second.
17:36 Now I take another one.
17:40 I know there's going to be a lot of wind
17:41 noise on this, but
17:56 All
18:11 go.
18:32 You can't you can't park a car right
18:34 there. It's also interesting how similar
18:37 some of these are to the way the Easter
18:39 Island rocks look. In fact, you look
18:42 over here, it kind of almost looks like
18:43 it has a
18:45 same symmetrical style as the Easter
18:48 Island heads
18:50 kind of. At least that's like similar. I
18:53 mean, they're rocks. They're rectangular
18:55 rocks, so they're definitely going to
18:56 look the same, but it's giving that
18:58 vibes as well,
19:01 which is another mystery mystery of
19:03 rocks. No one really knows.
19:17 on the long
19:17 lonesome road back to the visitor
19:18 center.
19:21 Modernday Stonehenge.
19:23 It receives more than 1 million visitors
19:25 a year
19:35 due to the fragile below ground. Okay.
19:35 Belowground archaeology, preserve stone
19:38 surfaces, prehistoric carvings. Access
19:40 inside the circle is possible only
19:44 at certain times outside normal
19:45 operating hours. Wonder when those times
19:47 would be.
19:50 The prehistoric temple. Okay. Temple
19:54 built 4,500 years ago or more.
19:56 Masterpiece of engineering with stones
19:58 carefully arranged to line up with the
19:59 movement of the sun.
21:07 and exit through the gift shop. Got some
21:11 different items here. You got a bear
21:12 wearing a Stonehenge shirt. You got a
21:14 water bottle. You have a coaster over
21:16 here as well. You got this little sun.
21:20 Oh, here you go. Here's a little uh
21:21 little miniature little miniature uh
21:24 Stonehenge thing. That's kind of cute.
21:25 Dude, I want to get a magnet, though.
21:27 I'm not in the mood for a magnet. It's
21:29 not wanting to focus, though. It's like
21:30 another mystery is why this isn't
21:32 focusing. That's the biggest mystery.
21:34 Take a look at this. This is like a
21:35 little neck pillow, something you bring
21:37 out a plane, but it's like one of the
21:39 like one of the stones. This right here
21:41 is a gold bronze.
21:44 That's what bronze cold cast right here.
21:47 All right. I ended up purchasing a
21:48 couple. I got two magnets. I got one
21:50 that says I've seen the stones. And then
21:53 I've also got this one which is kind of
21:54 like a 3Dish style kind of perforated or
21:58 pushing out there which I got one of
22:01 each of those. And I also got this bag
22:03 here which has a has the stones on it
22:07 the sun. So I got that. And then I also
22:10 ended up getting this book
22:14 here little uh little information book.
22:19 It's like thin. I put it in my luggage.
22:22 There you go. Souvenirs.
22:25 I'm going to take the bus. I'm waiting
22:27 in the shade, but I'm going to take the
22:28 bus back. I took a taxi over. Take a bus
22:30 back. There's a little more information.
22:32 All the different numbers one through 1
22:35 through 15 there.
22:40 Kind of correlation. I might have to
22:40 read this and
22:42 after I get gain a little bit more
22:43 knowledge, I go, "Oh, I was there. Know
22:46 a little bit more about it." There's
22:47 like the moat around it there. Number
22:50 two would be called, you know what, they
22:52 just have it actually labeled
22:54 as a they just have they don't have it
22:56 labeled as a moat. They have it labeled
22:57 as ditch.
23:00 Just they just call it a ditch cuz there
23:02 was never water. It says the original
23:04 ditch was dug by using
23:13 pics of red deer antlers.
23:13 All right, bus has arrived.
23:21 This is exciting. I am technically on a
23:21 double-decker bus. I'm on the second
23:23 floor of the double-decker bus. Nice
23:26 little half hour ride back to the train
23:27 station. Then from the train station,
23:30 I'm going to take a one-way trip, end up
23:32 in Bath.
24:01 Heat. Heat.
24:18 Oh yeah. What about
25:13 I got to take a train now again
25:17 from Salsbury over to Bath. This is
25:20 interesting. Celebrating 150 years. Back
25:22 in 2009 on the 2nd of May 1859, the
25:26 first passenger train operated between
25:28 Salsbury and Gilligum
25:32 or Gillingham. Your step take care in
25:35 their stations.
25:46 Got a couple moments on the trainer. I
25:48 was just looking at some of the treats
25:50 here that are different in the UK than
25:51 they are in the US. Like
25:55 they don't have lion bars in the US or
25:58 whispers
25:59 or twirls.
26:03 They have M&M's
26:06 a crunchy
26:08 or you can go on a full picnic
26:11 picnic bar.
26:30 Train 166201
26:30 pulling into
26:32 station.
26:33 There's no seats on this one. So, I got
26:35 to stand here next to the next to the
26:37 luggage rack.
26:47 71. Now,
26:48 that was about an hour. There were no
26:50 seats. So, I had to stand kind of wedged
26:52 over in the corner. Everyone was trying
26:54 to walk by me. Kept saying, "Excuse me,
26:56 wedged next to a bicycle that was parked
26:58 there next to the luggage area. All part
27:01 of the experience, but got here pretty
27:02 quick. That thing moves along pretty
27:04 fast. This is a definitely more crammed
27:07 than that first train I took earlier
27:08 today. All right, I'm in Bath now. Bath
27:11 spot, let's call it." Okay, I've arrived
27:13 in Bath. I really like this uh telephone
27:16 box here decorated and adorned with all
27:19 the flowers. Very, very nice. See, it's
27:22 like full of not it's not painted, not
27:25 graffiti,
27:27 but uh made with flowers. That guy's in
27:29 a rush to catch his train. And that's
27:31 going to do it for today.
27:34 I went to Stonehenge. I'll see you in
27:36 the next video, the vlog.
27:38 Peace out.
