0:02 welcome everyone
0:02 adam the
0:04 woo here standing along the dan river in
0:06 north carolina
0:08 a film
0:10 took place they used the locations
0:12 around this neck of the woods back in
0:15 2001 production took place movie came
0:17 out in 2002 in the us 2003 an homage
0:22 inspired
0:23 by some of the classic
0:25 of the horror genre evil dead texas
0:27 chainsaw things like that
0:29 eli roth directed it it involved a cabin
0:34 which i am hoping
0:36 i can get access to i might have to hike
0:38 a little bit and find and see
0:41 with my
0:42 own eyes cabin fever
0:47 can you feel it i'm inviting you to join
0:49 me
0:51 not going to hit each and every spot but
0:52 i want to hit some of the key ones and
0:55 some that really have not been shown in
0:57 great detail
0:58 that's my goal today join me
1:01 i'm wearing an appropriate t-shirt of
1:03 the genre yes
1:04 it's different film
1:10 but it gets the vibe
1:10 of the horror genre shall you feels good
1:13 out 34 degrees i love it also as a
1:16 recording of this tuesday february 1st
1:19 2022
1:26 this genre of films never starts off
1:26 well
1:26 when you're driving down a desolate road
1:30 with woods on either side of you
1:43 i'll take my chances though
1:43 i'm gonna take my chances
1:48 maybe i'll be okay
1:48 i think i will located on the corner oh
1:51 there's a dog coming
1:53 of shepard mill road
1:55 hello
2:12 oh goodness and pleasantville
2:12 shepherd mill and pleasant view i should
2:15 say
2:16 here in danbury
2:21 is the historic
2:22 pretties
2:23 general store p-r-i-d-d-y-s
2:31 pretty's general store
2:31 this could be seen in quite a few scenes
2:33 one at the beginning one at the middle
2:35 and during the end credits
2:41 i want to get out of the road
2:41 get out of the room may traffic might be
2:42 coming through here
2:47 here's an assortment of dogs all in this
2:47 neighborhood this dog isn't even paying
2:48 attention to me anymore
2:58 they go inside here to get some supplies
2:58 and meet the
3:00 guy running the place very unique
3:01 individual behind the counter
3:04 also this is where
3:06 the other guy comes out and says why do
3:09 you take that candy bar
3:15 so why would you why would you steal a
3:16 candy bar
3:17 from right here
3:19 yeah definitely still has that old timey
3:21 vibe
3:27 oh this dog is right beside me establish
3:27 1888
3:29 have hardware groceries antiques arts
3:31 and crafts
3:33 and up top
3:35 see if i can get a screen grab
3:37 just to kind of show
3:40 what it looked like
3:42 this this this pooches
3:48 eyeballing me and then turns his
3:48 attention elsewhere okay
3:51 i'll see you later getting camera shy
3:52 huh
3:57 fair enough notice where they're sitting
3:57 on the porch swing
3:59 the country ham sign there's also the
4:02 the pretties sign up here
4:04 in that corner as well you can also see
4:06 that country ham sign there 20 years 20
4:10 years ago
4:11 still on the side
4:12 and the truck i just showed that old
4:14 ford
4:15 it's that's the same truck that's over
4:17 there in the bat in the distance the
4:19 same truck that i was focusing on when
4:21 the dog walked up the dog has gone back
4:23 to its home also noticing up here is a
4:27 coca-cola and pepsi signage that was
4:29 completely covered up
4:31 in the movie
4:32 you know obviously probably didn't want
4:34 to
4:35 give them their share of the
4:37 the profits and the money but the
4:39 country ham sign take a look at this
4:42 i wonder if they have coffee in here i
4:44 could definitely use a coffee so that
4:45 could be seen
4:47 very
4:48 distinctly as well
4:50 as this
4:52 this red sign right there
4:54 now the porch swing was like kind of
4:56 dangling right here
5:02 oh look up here there are
5:02 there are some hooks there
5:07 could have been
5:07 where it was
5:08 was placed at least a couple of the
5:11 brackets
5:16 there is an open side let's see if i can
5:16 go see if anyone's in here and inside
5:18 the store looks almost exactly like it
5:21 did 20 years ago for the filming in fact
5:23 the lady who runs the place was telling
5:24 me some stories
5:26 and said that the production brought a
5:28 bunch of set dressing along to fix the
5:30 place up and make it look old-timey and
5:32 they didn't even need it
5:34 all the bottles that are through here
5:36 the pickle jars all the bottles that the
5:39 cashier is talking about in the film and
5:41 also in the very back didn't even
5:43 realize this was back here once i told
5:45 her what i was doing i was showing some
5:46 interest in the film she said oh there's
5:48 some promotional photos and some behind
5:50 the scenes stuff all the way in the back
5:53 so i came all the way back here to the
5:54 back and there are some props
5:57 from the film
5:58 as well as some behind the scenes photos
6:01 newspaper clippings articles all about
6:04 what took place here
6:06 in front of the general store
6:09 this is like a variable treasure trove
6:10 of goodness just tucked away back here
6:12 not even near the front counter at all
6:14 the counter is the same counter from the
6:16 film as well with the cigarette cartons
6:19 and packs
6:21 and the very unique u-style a couple
6:23 items have been moved around when he's
6:25 looking over here at the urine that's on
6:27 the shelf this is the same
6:30 counter or the same shelf it's like a an
6:32 old cabinet and she was saying this used
6:34 to be in her barn and termites were
6:36 getting to it so she brought it in the
6:37 store
6:38 it was here 20 years ago and it's still
6:39 here today back around front is where
6:42 the lemonade stand was over there near
6:43 that picnic table and she was confirming
6:46 that they did take down
6:48 all the coca-cola and pepsi
6:50 and anything that had a brand on it
6:54 that they want to pay royalties on or
6:55 promote
6:56 they they took them down
6:59 and stored them
7:00 and after production was over put them
7:02 back up
7:03 pretty awesome place pretty general
7:05 store and
7:07 the lady that runs the place very kind
7:09 and
7:10 gave me a lot of good info
7:12 glad i stopped here
7:30 oh that dogs are back over next to where
7:30 that dog was
7:31 she was also saying they made them cover
7:33 up the ford emblem on the back of this
7:35 so if you watch that scene they have
7:37 something covering up the back tail but
7:38 this truck was here
7:40 okay see you later dog nice to meet you
7:42 there was no coffee at brewin but i did
7:45 purchase this
7:46 prettiest general store established 1888
7:49 danbury north carolina sticker i am now
7:51 going to take a 47 mile commute
7:55 over to a place called ravens
7:58 knob
8:05 leaving the general store
8:05 and about 47 48 miles to raven's knob
8:09 hopefully find the cabin traversing some
8:12 very windy roads
8:14 on this commute the roads are paved very
8:16 well the roads are in great condition
8:18 but they're very windy 25 35 miles per
8:22 hour
8:23 posted speed limit signs very windy and
8:27 turny but look at the snow over here
8:29 thankfully it's 34 degrees
8:31 2 degrees above the freezing
8:33 temperatures and the roads have thawed a
8:34 little bit
8:36 if these were a lot slicker this would
8:38 be
8:39 a little on the dangerous side but the
8:41 roads look pretty good they look wet but
8:42 not not iced over for example if it was
8:46 a few degrees colder and a little more
8:48 moisture on these streets through here
8:50 this would not be the funnest
8:52 intersection at this incline
8:56 going down through here
8:58 at all
8:59 almost there
9:00 very beautiful scenery out here
9:03 also side note i have no cell phone
9:07 connection at all
9:09 so i'm just going off of
9:12 my guesstimation now the gate is open
9:15 camp raven knob
9:23 all right i'm going in see what happens
9:23 this is not the time of the year that
9:24 any activities will be going on but this
9:26 gate is open
9:41 yeah these hills are something else
9:41 just going down
9:43 following this path just looking for
9:45 anything that might look familiar
10:02 i'll see anyone on property
10:02 not yet anyway you could even see some
10:04 ice there on the water part of the lake
10:06 is frozen
10:16 that is all ice right there on the water
10:16 probably can't walk out on that probably
10:18 very thin
10:20 i am just amazed that i am able to drive
10:22 back in here didn't really feel
10:24 comfortable driving any further
10:26 so what i'm going to do is traverse
10:29 this way i'm going to walk
10:33 just see what i can see
10:39 didn't want to get stuck over there that
10:39 ice
10:45 i don't know if there's bears out here
10:45 or not
10:46 i'm hoping
10:48 if there are there
10:50 just leave me alone i'm able to walk
10:52 here on the little dry patch
10:54 but even my shoes are kind of slipping
10:56 on this
10:58 yeah you know just better safe than
10:59 sorry
11:00 last thing i want to do is hit a little
11:03 patch of ice and go into the little
11:05 ravine over there
11:07 in my car especially right up here
11:09 also i did find a store before pulling
11:11 in here
11:12 i had a coffee yeah look at this
11:16 oh goodness this is
11:28 maybe it'll pay off
11:28 i'll find what i'm looking for
11:34 just no bears please now i do
11:34 remember in the film that there was a
11:36 bridge going over a little waterway like
11:38 that
11:39 close to the cabin
11:41 and there is a little waterway there
11:48 so possibly around this bend
11:48 it's a few flagpoles there
11:51 hmm
11:53 not looking familiar oh you know a path
11:56 through the oh wait there's a bridge
11:58 no
12:03 could this be the bridge
12:03 oh i think i found it i think i freaking
12:06 found it
12:19 oh yeah this is so slick
12:19 oh
12:21 ice all over this oh
12:24 this is i'm almost confident this is the
12:26 bridge from the film
12:34 could be wrong
12:34 let's see what's up here
12:47 there's a cabin is that the cabin i
12:47 found it oh my gosh we found it
12:50 this is it
12:52 cabin fever cabin
12:59 yes
13:08 an unplanned unprepared adventure
13:12 holy
13:14 crud
13:21 right here amongst the ice
13:21 and the snow
13:23 is the cabin
13:25 from the eli roth film cabin fever
13:29 film 20 years plus ago out here
13:36 on the side of this little berm
13:38 i am alone out here now because i like i
13:40 said do not have any internet signal i
13:42 can't watch any clips on my phone
13:45 or show anything like that because i
13:46 didn't print anything out
13:49 just a very impulsive adventure today
13:52 going off of memory the campfire right
13:55 down here
13:56 where they had the place the bodies at
13:58 the very end you just have to watch the
14:00 film take my word for it spoiler alert
14:03 campfire over here
14:05 the bridge at the beginning
14:07 you can see that wooden bridge that i
14:08 walked across right in the center of the
14:10 screen where he is going off looking for
14:13 the squirrels
14:15 he's like he's gonna go out it ends
14:17 badly
14:18 you know what he thought was a squirrel
14:20 was a human
14:22 and that was the bridge right over there
14:24 that i just walked across right in the
14:25 center of the screen
14:27 and through here also was the you know
14:29 the officer who was all about partying
14:31 he loved to party he wanted everyone to
14:33 party probably the best character
14:35 arguably the best character
14:37 in the whole movie
14:38 and here's the little shed over here
14:42 where they kept her
14:43 towards the end i could it could have
14:45 been rebuilt a little more but there is
14:48 a little shed off to the side
14:51 of the cabin and i'm just going to go
14:53 out on a
14:54 go out on a limb because there's a limb
14:56 right here
14:57 and say they did not use the interiors
15:01 you'll notice once again going off of
15:02 memory this these rocks right here
15:06 are the same rocks of stair stepping up
15:09 and at the end when
15:11 one guy thought he had made it i made it
15:14 i freaking made it
15:17 walks out
15:24 right down there amongst the trees were
15:24 those making sure he did not make it
15:33 this is so freaking cool
15:33 do not want to slip
15:35 yeah that is probably very oh this this
15:37 is very slick too let me go this way but
15:40 those are the rocks
15:42 see if i can get in here peek in here
15:45 oh no way no no no no no is this all
15:48 this is
15:49 is this all
15:57 okay
15:57 definitely
15:59 no interiors were filmed in here this is
16:01 way smaller
16:03 than you would think it would be there's
16:04 a loft up here
16:06 there's an old rusted out bed
16:09 another bed down here with a mattress
16:12 the only time that i can recall that you
16:15 see
16:16 the interiors of this
16:18 is when the door is open and you could
16:21 see out
16:22 like that
16:23 and then they go from a set
16:26 and then they cut to this angle
16:29 and then there's another one when you
16:30 can kind of see in
16:33 like this
16:34 but that's about all you can see very
16:36 quickly
16:36 as he walks out
16:39 talks to the guy about
16:41 you know who's just obsessed with
16:42 partying
16:44 and then she's standing up here go back
16:46 inside drink that 40.
16:49 just get ready to party
16:51 gotta party
16:59 i am walking along
16:59 the cabin fever cabin floor
17:11 why am i so excited about this
17:13 i didn't think i was gonna find this
17:15 i had a glimmer of hope in my mind but
17:18 i wasn't 100 sure
17:20 until i turned that corner
17:22 saw that bridge
17:28 epic
17:28 so freaking cool
17:31 i don't know if i'll ever get this
17:32 chance again so let me go up here
17:41 wow
17:41 all right
17:42 yes sir
17:43 just going to state that
17:45 no interiors filmed
17:47 inside here
17:49 that was on a set
17:52 and also a pleasant surprise
17:55 all that was holding the door open
17:57 was this got to put it back the way i
18:01 got the windows here
18:07 some furniture
18:07 the dripping of the water or from the
18:08 melting snow
18:10 on the roof line
18:12 i should walk over there and take a look
18:13 at that you know sometimes things just
18:15 work out you don't have a game plan
18:17 you assume you're not going to be able
18:19 to get down a road that's filled with
18:20 ice so you walk it and you see a piece
18:24 of horror history
18:26 relatively new 20-year horror history
18:29 wouldn't be considered a classic
18:31 by my standards but enjoyable film
18:34 kind of quirky kind of weird
18:37 i believe eli ross first
18:39 major motion picture even before he did
18:42 hostile
18:44 pretty cool all right here
18:46 in the backwoods of north carolina
18:49 in the ice and snow
18:51 i'm all alone
18:53 campfire there
18:54 where they stored her over there
18:57 the final climax right here
18:59 the party guy the officer he just loves
19:02 to party
19:04 you can throw one heck of a party out
19:11 here i am so happy about this for some
19:11 odd reason
19:13 this is fulfilling getting a look around
19:15 the backside
19:17 of the cabin
19:18 still standing
19:21 i could see why they chose this spot for
19:23 production
19:25 because it's way out here on the
19:27 property
19:32 very quiet and peaceful and away from
19:32 the rest
19:34 of the facilities quite a ways tucked
19:36 away in the back
19:43 most likely still used during
19:43 spring and summer months but right now
19:47 in the middle of winter
19:49 not the case probably why i was able to
19:52 get back here
19:54 because there's nothing no activities
19:56 going on nothing's booked
20:02 if i recall there was a fence
20:04 along here made of wood
20:06 that could have been set dressing or
20:08 maybe this is part of that wooden fence
20:11 they kind of went right along here
20:14 they parked the automobiles and the
20:16 the truck that they beat up was like
20:17 right over here somewhere
20:24 what really gave it away was right there
20:24 in the center of the screen going over
20:25 that little river
20:31 once i started walking over that i knew
20:31 i was in the right spot
20:34 and her friends betrayed her
20:36 put her in this little shack here
20:39 the shack was a little bit more
20:41 elaborate
20:42 but this is the same spot
20:45 as it was because there is one angle
20:47 where the camera is over there
20:49 and you can see it from a distance i'll
20:51 walk over there
20:52 and you can see both
20:54 at one point near the end of the film
20:57 you could see both the cabin
20:59 and this little shack off to the side
21:02 i think it was more like this
21:07 of course there's a little more
21:07 overgrowth than there was
21:09 20 years ago
21:17 this is where they laid them right here
21:17 it's the same fight and obviously look
21:20 here's a charred piece of wood so this
21:21 has been used you know recently probably
21:23 in the last year or less
21:32 it says something about them one being
21:32 in the basement or being back in the
21:33 house maybe not the basement back in the
21:35 house
21:36 and then they ignited the flame here
21:39 and they walked back up into the cabin
21:43 like about like that angle
21:45 okay i still gotta walk over here
21:53 just to give the view of kind of where
21:53 she was
21:54 down here on the ground
22:05 you know with the camera angle like this
22:05 there's the cabin off in the distance
22:08 this close proximity
22:10 they didn't really need a lot of set
22:12 dressing because this was already here
22:14 if this is the one
22:16 it does look like it has 20 years of
22:19 decay on it so this has probably been
22:20 here for a while or some little machine
22:22 parts
22:30 yeah definitely the same cabin however
22:30 jury's still out on this you know i'm
22:31 not confident 100
22:33 going off of memory but
22:43 pretty neat to think about
22:43 one last little peaceful peak here
22:58 i got one other spot
22:58 it's actually the
22:59 beginning opening scene
23:01 it's a ways from here but that's the way
23:02 i'm heading
23:04 so i'm filming this out of sequence as
23:05 far as continuity goes
23:08 but i want to go to where the opening
23:09 town square was
23:11 that's probably another hour
23:13 south of here i believe
23:20 but this is the layout of the land here
23:20 from the cabin fever property
23:29 still looks exactly the same
23:29 you have to wonder if anyone ever
23:31 utilizes that cabin
23:34 and not knows the history or
23:37 maybe has never been told the history or
23:38 maybe even
23:40 doesn't want to know the history
23:51 definitely could throw one heck of a
23:51 party out here
23:56 at least that's what i'm told from
23:56 watching watching the movie
24:19 it's even more eerie that i am out here
24:19 completely alone if that gate was open
24:21 i just drove in parked and then walked
24:23 the rest of the way
24:26 kind of bizarre
24:33 watch my footing again
24:33 watch my footing
24:39 sometimes ice builds up on these
24:48 right here in the clearing of the woods
24:48 at the bottom of this hill
25:10 that was awesome
25:10 so
25:12 awesome
25:13 see what the sign says for coordinates
25:23 catawba
25:23 so there's a little hint
25:25 there's a little hint for anyone else
25:28 who wants to make the pilgrimage
25:30 to where it's located
25:32 right past these flag poles
25:35 and this little circular
25:37 leaf cul-de-sac
25:39 commuted 54 miles away over to
25:42 mocksville
25:44 and truthfully this area is a lot more
25:47 built up than i thought it would be this
25:49 is a called court square
25:52 and they have a
25:54 major intersection here now compared to
25:57 what it looked like back 20 years ago in
25:59 fact there used to be a big tree over
26:01 there in that little
26:02 of that little grassy hill
26:05 tree is gone
26:06 looks like a seedling has taken root and
26:10 there's a small tree here now where the
26:11 big tree
26:13 used to be
26:14 and right at the very beginning of the
26:16 movie the truck pulls up
26:18 right along here and you can see
26:21 this little section
26:23 but they really only show this so you
26:24 just kind of assume it's a definitely a
26:27 tinier community or at least the road
26:29 that passes by than it is modern day
26:32 still is a small town
26:34 but a kind of a busy intersection here
26:37 and also shown is the courthouse over
26:39 there as well in that opening scene just
26:42 after the opening credits and it was
26:44 about from this angle where the truck
26:45 was parked and she yells out the window
26:47 no more finals
26:49 don't do it
26:51 don't go to college it's a scam
26:54 looks a lot different without this that
26:55 big tree there
27:00 i was saying that really loud people
27:00 probably thinking
27:02 what are you saying over there
27:04 okay now it's not that busy now that
27:05 i've stood here for a moment there's a
27:07 little bit of a lull in traffic waiting
27:09 for that car to pull out but their truck
27:11 pulls off and goes the same way
27:13 as that vehicle does
27:16 it's like recreating the scene almost
27:17 and that's gonna do it for today
27:20 pretty dang excited that i got to the
27:23 cabin from cabin fever i'm feeling the
27:25 fever
27:27 if you will
27:30 of a horror film that was filmed
27:32 kind of spread out
27:34 hour from one spot to an hour to the
27:36 next an hour to this one and it seems as
27:37 if most people when they are doing the
27:39 locations of cabin fever usually just go
27:42 to the store
27:43 and that's about it also there were a
27:45 couple of spots that were filmed in
27:47 out in griffith park the batman cave and
27:50 all that was utilized the other side of
27:51 that but obviously i'm not going to go
27:53 all the way out to la to just get that
27:54 one
27:55 that one moment
27:57 but what i really wanted to see i got to
27:59 see trudging through the ice and stone
28:01 you can see right here an hour away from
28:03 that park i was just at kind of tucked
28:05 away on the back of the property there
28:06 is no snow here where the tree used to
28:10 thanks for watching i'll see you in the
28:12 next video vlog
28:14 are you feeling the fever of the cabin
28:18 i am
28:20 the vlog
28:21 is over
