0:03 I really do love these old-timey bridges
0:03 and is that the Mississippi down there
0:06 deep river the old man we are now making
0:13 our way directly into Iowa welcome
0:17 everyone Adam Peru here self pumping gas
0:21 nozzle and caffeine a good way starting
0:24 today and it looks as if this fuel
0:30 station is being protected by a higher
0:32 power it's my second channel daily vlog
0:36 Channel it's the daily whoo I've left
0:41 the pavements and now cruising down this
0:43 dirt road in route to somewhere I've
0:46 always wanted to go if you build it she
0:51 won't come well I'm on my way
0:55 finally I get to see this place with my
0:58 own eyes growing up I loved the game of
1:02 baseball as much as anyone ever has in
1:06 the mid 80s I collected all the cards
1:09 knew all the players watched all the
1:12 movies and of all those films a couple
1:15 resonates still decades later in my mind
1:19 on why I love the American pastime so
1:23 much
1:29 and I can see it from here
1:29 I can see oh my gosh I've arrived to the
1:35 fields of Dreams I can't believe I'm
1:40 actually here this is incredible it
1:43 looks just as it did in 1989 like going
1:48 back in time it might take me a minute
1:50 or two I have to be honest for me to
1:52 fully wrap my head around the fact that
1:55 I am standing behind home plate of the
2:01 famous field that was carved out of the
2:06 corn if you've never seen the movie I
2:08 highly encourage you to go watch a Kevin
2:11 Costner plays a farmer who hears a ghost
2:13 a voice in the cornfield telling him to
2:18 plow down his crop and build a baseball
2:23 field and it's pretty awesome that it's
2:27 in full bloom I'm walking out just like
2:32 the players did is this heaven
2:43 Iowa the character of Terrence Mann
2:43 played by James Earl Jones stated so
2:46 prominently that people will come ray
2:50 and they have my goodness there's way
2:54 more people out here then I was
2:57 expecting how they've also added quite a
2:59 bit of merchandise to a gift shop that
3:02 has been constructed on the property but
3:05 in this cutest little slugger
3:13 and while the parking and admission to
3:13 gaze at the filming location is free in
3:16 order to gain access to the house you
3:19 have to purchase a ticket which I just
3:22 did I'm about to go inside they're
3:27 making us take our shoes off before
3:29 entering or you can use these little
3:31 foot covers but I opted just to remove
3:34 my shoes to protect the house daughter
3:39 Karen is watching a movie called Hardin
3:41 TV there with Jimmy Stewart I don't know
3:43 how many are you familiar with the movie
3:45 Harvey with Jimmy Stewart but for those
3:47 of you who might not be Harvey obviously
3:49 this big sticks with orange tall
3:51 invisible rabbit and only Jimmy Stewart
3:54 can see that's symbolic with the field
3:56 of dreams in the sequence tellers were
3:58 the only ones who could see she was Joe
4:01 work and remember during a good portion
4:02 of them we actually moved on to be in
4:04 quite a few different movies in place
4:07 since then she they received nominations
4:08 for awards for some of the movie she's
4:10 been in course amy madigan moved on and
4:13 she also received a Golden Globe Award
4:15 for one of the movie that he was in the
4:17 after she got the theatre degrees and
4:18 I'm sure she's got us on the words for
4:20 other movies as well and of course Kevin
4:23 Costner we know he's been a movie after
4:25 movie after movie after movie so I'm
4:26 certain he's got a lot of words that I'm
4:28 not even with her daughter Cameron was
4:30 in the next room and that see remember
4:32 she tried to get her attention and Ray
4:35 kept telling her in a moment care you
4:37 know in a moment in a moment they were
4:39 going over finances finally after about
4:41 the fourth attempt she didn't get her
4:43 attention when she said but there's a
4:45 man standing on our lawn that of course
4:48 we in Reverse appears like she was your
4:49 Jackson on the property and got their
4:52 attention and with no right away had to
4:54 lift their spirits because now I
4:55 actually had a bulb I did come out in
4:58 the field where you spend all the money
4:59 doing that theater with the ambitious
5:01 test the patient are probably a lot more
5:03 ballplayers between over watching the
5:05 movies that
5:06 there's a ball signed by James Earl
5:09 Jones right there she is involved for
5:15 the very first time a lot of people
5:17 laughing woman get a picture from
5:18 through the window they're out on it you
5:21 always so important he'll interview play
5:23 enter you know just run the beads as you
5:25 can see there's quite a few people out
5:26 there right now my del was recruited
5:28 from the Dubuque area it's about 20
5:30 minutes to the east of here
5:31 she was actually a volunteer for the
5:33 Iowa film office and she also men's was
5:35 called bell tower theater to do so she
5:38 had it quite a bit of knowledge what
5:40 movies were all about
5:41 so they recruited her to colonists
5:43 Midwest and try to find the farm might
5:45 work a one so what actions did the old
5:48 one they wanted typical two-story farm
5:50 outside square rectangular shape they
5:53 won the classic white clapboard siding
5:55 most 95% of farmhouse in Hannah they
5:59 also wanted the farm not be big they
6:01 just wanted a small Iowa farm for a
6:04 parent it into didn't want no silos or
6:06 anything like that
6:07 but they didn't want to big enough for a
6:09 wall field and they wanted it to have
6:11 Western exposure for the sunset
6:13 silhouette team that they did and they
6:15 also wanted a long lean
6:16 coming down into the farm and this also
6:19 grants me permission to sit on the porch
6:22 swing over look in the field how cool is
6:26 that
6:27 now what I'm going to do is I'm going to
6:30 kind of film you there and then I'm
6:31 going to back up and try to get through
6:33 you can see the whole house on there
6:40 yeah just like you're in the movie that
6:40 shows the whole house now
6:42 then I'll zoom back in again if there's
6:46 any parts of the house you want me to
6:48 film off going to the side and then I'll
6:50 film a little bit over to this side here
6:52 as well okay anything else are thank you
6:56 very much alrighty that's a great Newark
6:58 and I'll just hand it to you can shut it
7:00 off there because I'm not sure you're
7:02 wrong okay thank you he was telling me
7:03 that during the time of filming the
7:05 entire state was under a drought so the
7:08 fire department brought in excess water
7:11 to fill up this drainage ditch and they
7:13 would pump water and spray the corn down
7:16 nightly this backfired a little bit
7:19 because the
7:20 horn was so tall the kevin costner could
7:23 not stick his head above it for the
7:26 scenes that he needed a self so when
7:28 he's walking amongst the corn at the
7:30 beginning and halfway through the movie
7:32 he would have been level with what I'm
7:34 at but the camera angle needed to show
7:37 him above the corn so they built wooden
7:40 platforms going for many many many yards
7:44 for him to walk on and these power lines
7:46 were also rerouted during filming in
7:49 fact they removed them from this spot
7:52 and took them all the way across those
7:55 cornfields when they were done they put
7:58 them all back in their proper places
8:00 holes at all these are the exact wooden
8:03 bleachers that have been sitting here
8:05 for nearly 30 years where Karen fell
8:08 down choking on the hotdogs and
8:10 moonlight Graham played by Burt
8:13 Lancaster walked right there turned from
8:18 a young ball player back into the doctor
8:22 and saved her life
8:24 it's incredible they still remain and an
8:28 interesting fact that was the last scene
8:30 last movie and last scene he was ever
8:42 you'll notice this carving here that
8:42 states ray luvs Annie that was inscribed
8:46 by Kevin Costner during the filming of
8:50 the movie it still remains that's
8:54 incredible it's hard to believe that's
8:57 the spot that James Earl Jones was
8:58 sitting he stood up he gave that iconic
9:02 speech
9:04 why it's money they have but peace they
9:09 lack people will come right
9:12 oh yes people will come as I stand on
9:18 second base I can't help think of
9:20 moonlight Grahams wish to round the
9:23 bases to turn a double into a triple to
9:27 slide face-first into third wrap your
9:31 hands around the back that's my wish
9:34 reconcile and is there enough magic in
9:38 the moonlight to grant this wish now
9:42 that I'm here I have to say there just
9:48 might be four seventy dollars you can
9:50 get a recreation of the buff or for only
9:54 eight bucks a smaller version a little
9:58 teen year and tinier or if you're so
10:00 inclined a deck of cards or maybe even a
10:03 thimble this is a pretty sweet necklace
10:07 here with the catcher's mitt is that a
10:09 catcher's mitt or an idea first it's a
10:11 mid of some sort with the ball in it and
10:13 States the name of the place and I think
10:15 this would be a perfect time for the
10:18 epic reveal bringing back the majestic
10:25 over the field up high in the sky over
10:30 the corn getting a bird's-eye view of
10:32 this fantastic late 80s filming location
10:36 and now historic spot that has a lot of
10:39 meaning to a lot of people including me
10:42 I never thought I would get here there
10:45 was a point in my life that I never
10:47 realized I would actually accomplish my
10:49 goal of setting foot down on this grass
10:53 and sand that may have been the final
10:56 flight of my drones the majestic it's
11:00 just not working correctly even getting
11:02 those shots were very difficult how to
11:05 keep launching it bringing it back
11:07 launching it bringing it back it just
11:08 was not connecting and the biggest issue
11:10 was not only the gimbal but the fact
11:13 that the footage was not showing up on
11:16 that they would hold
11:18 mish mash of problems this thing is been
11:20 to heck and back it served me well but
11:24 if you don't see this beautiful piece of
11:28 machinery again you know why you've done
11:33 your duty you can I might still try to
11:38 use it I might still try all just so
11:40 I'll keep trying to to use it but if you
11:43 don't see it again
11:44 it's because it's acting up quite it's
11:47 giving me hints that it doesn't want to
11:49 take anymore
12:09 this truly is an amazing place people of
12:09 all ages come out here to run the basis
12:13 he's about to touch home he made it I
12:24 love it here time to depart and as that
12:24 sign States thanks for visiting
12:27 keep dreaming and I'm going on my merry
12:31 way just like Kevin Costner I have to
12:35 imagine more than one or two people have
12:38 said it's here upon arrival to that very
12:43 special place
12:46 such an incredible foe and a tearjerker
12:51 some compare it to the notebook for men
12:55 and I tend to agree gets me every time
12:58 see you guys tomorrow vlog over
