0:04 Today's adventure begins as the
0:04 recording of this Thursday, April
0:08 17th,
0:10 2025. Taking a peek out of the window
0:13 that I have cracked open
0:20 there here in Soul, South Korea. This is
0:20 the hotel I've been staying at. I'll
0:22 give a little room tour a little bit
0:25 later in the video.
0:28 I'm going to head down for my last
0:31 day in Soul, South Korea. I have
0:34 decided to cut my stay here at this
0:37 these accommodations a couple days
0:40 short and head out of
0:43 Seoul. In fact, leaving South
0:47 Korea. I feel like I've got a good
0:50 handle
0:51 on what I came to see.
1:03 on. This is my view. This is the view
1:03 from
1:03 the from the room. A little garden out
1:06 here. Little rooftop
1:15 garden. All right, I'm going to head
1:15 down and
1:17 enjoy a little stroll around Seoul. The
1:20 Maongdong area is where my
1:23 accommodations were the last what was
1:25 eight days, nine
1:26 days. Was going to stay 12 days, but cut
1:30 it three days short. 4 days
1:32 short. Had a little over a
1:41 week. Time to be moving
1:41 on. We go get some coffee. Welcome
1:43 everyone. Adam the Woo here. Well, I can
1:47 safely say that I have been to South
1:50 Korea. I'm still here now, but what a
1:53 trip. This was the hotel I stayed at.
1:56 Four
1:59 points, 14th floor. Great
2:02 accommodations, great shower,
2:04 comfortable
2:06 beds, good view. The only thing, the
2:09 only negative I would say, not that I'll
2:12 most likely probably never be back to
2:14 soul. There's a great big world out
2:16 there to see and this is a long way from
2:19 home. But the only the only thing that
2:22 was negative about the hotel was the
2:25 elevator system. Took a very long time,
2:29 especially after 900 a.m. when a lot of
2:32 people were going up and down. It would
2:34 take sometimes 10 minutes to get to the
2:36 14th floor and 10 minutes to get back
2:38 down. So, that would be the only thing.
2:39 All right, I'm going to stroll around,
2:41 see where the day leads, get myself a
2:44 piping hot caffeinated
2:51 beverage. I'm inviting you. Yes, you.
2:51 It's good to have you
2:53 here to
2:54 join. Shall
3:01 you? This massive sculpture here in
3:01 front of my
3:02 hotel, Four Points by
3:05 Sheridan. Check in is on the fourth
3:08 floor. Elevator starts on the fourth
3:10 floor. I was way up there, but I was
3:12 looking the other way, not looking
3:14 towards a sculpture here of this
3:16 gentleman holding the globe of some
3:20 sort. It's nice. It's nice out
3:23 today. Weather's good. There's an Adia
3:27 coffee. Maybe I'll get some from there
3:29 next to the nice to see you store over
3:32 on the in this little section. This is a
3:34 post office box right here.
3:38 Put your mail in
3:45 there. My cup of Joe.
3:46 I'm not sure if that's what that guy's
3:47 name is,
3:59 Joe. This is interesting. These are in
3:59 coffee bags. Speaking of coffee, but I
4:02 do not believe there's coffee in there.
4:04 There's bags of something else in
4:13 there. Trash perhaps. Deliveries
4:13 perhaps. That's a motorcycle with two
4:16 wheels on the
4:17 front. This area over
4:20 here must be the camera district of
4:23 Maongdong.
4:29 My apologies if I'm not correctly
4:29 pronouncing that, but it's just a
4:30 section of
4:32 soul art camera and
4:49 say that because over on the other
4:49 corner you got the Fujifilm, you got
4:53 Kodak,
4:55 Manfrotto. Oh, Manfrotto. I used to use
4:59 Manfrotto tripods when I used the G7X.
5:01 It's like a little
5:03 handheld.
5:08 Interesting. Let's see. They also have
5:08 all the cameras in here as well. So,
5:10 this area must just be
5:13 specifically for cameras. So, look over
5:15 here. We got
5:21 Canon. Shutters are down, but there's a
5:21 whole Canon shop over there, too. Look
5:23 at this photo developing over
5:26 there. This is the photo corner.
5:43 gallery.
5:43 Bando camera and sign. C I N E. There's
5:47 the Uber taxi. Remember what I was
5:48 saying? There are Ubers, but then
5:50 there's Uber taxis. They combine the two
5:52 here. So, if you want to order a taxi,
5:54 you order through Uber and the taxi
5:57 shows up. I wonder if nice to see you
5:59 has any merchandise. You get a nice to
6:00 see you something. Probably not. They
6:03 probably don't have merchandise. Here's
6:05 a Fujifilm FDI station digital photo
6:15 shop. Everyone here, well, not everyone,
6:15 but a lot of people ride bikes
6:16 and
6:22 scooters.
6:22 Example, these are everywhere. Even
6:24 little parking spots for them. This
6:26 one's kind of cool. I like that one.
6:31 That's such a good view going up in that
6:31 tower
6:39 there. A lot of the merchandise see
6:39 around town. That shirt I was wearing
6:40 yesterday, the I love soul. The eye is
6:44 the soul
6:49 tower. Sporting that
6:49 yesterday. Got a magnet with I got a few
6:51 magnets. I'll show my my soul hall when
6:54 I get back to the room and do the room
6:55 tour. like they're planting some flowers
6:57 over there, too. There's some plants in
6:59 that
7:00 little little area. The electrical boxes
7:02 are painted. One thing I am noticing,
7:05 though, this I wouldn't really put this
7:06 as graffiti, but I haven't really seen,
7:08 at least in the areas of the city that
7:11 I've been, I haven't seen a whole lot of
7:13 graffiti. A little bit, but not as much
7:15 as you'd see, you know, in US cities.
7:18 Just what I'm noticing in my opinion.
7:21 Something very peculiar or different.
7:23 Never seen this before. There is an exit
7:26 door here to a building and then there
7:28 is a slide like something you would see
7:30 on a playground except it's not on a
7:33 playground. It's coming out of the
7:34 entrance. So you would usually see
7:36 stairs leading out of that exit
7:39 door, but
7:40 it's a slide. It's a plastic slide like
7:44 you see it like a Mickey
7:45 De's play area or a fair or carnival or
7:50 town playground, but it's coming out the
7:53 side of that
8:06 door right here next to the road. I just
8:06 think that's very unusual and different.
8:16 Never seen that before. Never
8:16 have. You just slide
8:18 out and you got this little buffer
8:22 there and then you just carry
8:31 on. It's a good way to depart a building
8:31 though. It's like time to leave. Stroll
8:34 down a slide like that. Just leave. I
8:35 wonder if I think they ever taken any
8:36 sweet bikes down it. over in front of
8:38 the cathedral now where something is
8:41 taking
8:42 place. Time this perfectly. They're
8:44 getting ready to head in, I
9:00 believe.
9:31 It's like you have the incense.
9:32 Actually, the wind is blowing it right
9:33 towards where I'm at. Two in
9:40 front, but behind
9:40 them holding the cross, two candles, the
9:44 Bible.
10:34 Yeah, just a random
10:34 small van trying to get through the
10:35 crowd over there.
11:02 I have seen a few of these as I've been
11:02 here the last week or so in some of the
11:05 more
11:06 populated/touristy areas where you can
11:09 get your character done. So, I decided
11:10 to go in and get a one minute character.
11:12 Basically, I sat down. It was 9,0001,
11:14 which is like what uh five bucks, four
11:16 bucks, five, six bucks. And after a
11:20 minute, she had already drawn drawn a
11:23 character of me. So, I ended up I ended
11:26 up getting uh from Acorn character. It's
11:29 in this little uh little item right
11:31 here. So, I'm going to also stop inside
11:34 of 7-Eleven and maybe get a water. I
11:38 finished my coffee, but now it might be
11:39 time for a water. 7-Elevens here in
11:42 South Korea are a little bit different
11:43 than the US. Of course, the
11:45 establishment was started in
11:47 1927. One thing I have noticed from
11:50 being here on this trip is they have a
11:52 lot more items than they would have at a
11:55 US 7-Eleven. Even even in a more a
11:58 smaller space, it seems like the you
12:01 know, the items they have here are a
12:02 little bit different than what you have
12:04 in the US. here in South Korea. They're
12:07 very very popular here in Seoul. I would
12:10 imagine probably across the entire
12:12 country country as well. They're
12:13 probably very very
12:15 popular. Not just an American company,
12:18 even though I believe they started in
12:19 the US, they've branched off elsewhere
12:22 and are and are thriving with lots of
12:24 different products. So, just kind of
12:26 perusing around just to showcase some of
12:28 some of those 7-Eleven items while I
12:30 grab my water on the way out. And
12:34 uh and just think about that character
12:36 that was drawn to me. I have to do like
12:37 a little match up and and show me next
12:39 to my
12:41 character. I guess maybe that I don't
12:43 know. I guess that's a good character
12:45 version of me. I'm going to have to like
12:46 save that for posterity for
12:49 sure. And I got water. To be honest,
12:52 this might be the warmest day out of all
12:55 the days that I've been here. My final
12:58 final day. And soul is the warmest
13:04 day. Good to stay
13:07 hydrated. This was
13:09 one, no tax. It wasn't 107 or 1,000
13:14 watt, sorry. 1,000 watt, which is
13:16 like.7,
13:18 65, less than a dollar. And it was just
13:21 I just handed the 1,001 which is like an
13:24 equivalent of a $1 bill even though the
13:26 ratio is less than a
13:29 dollar. Beautiful flowers down
13:32 here. But beautiful flowers here in
13:35 downtown. Also been I've been watching
13:37 Rays games or tuning into Rays games
13:40 checking the score. I just watched the
13:43 last half inning the bottom of the ninth
13:46 game three against the Red Sox. Game
13:48 one, the Rays won 16 to1. I mean, it was
13:51 just an it was just a annihilation, but
13:56 they lost game two and they just lost
13:58 game three. So, they lost the series to
14:00 the socks
14:01 anyway. Ray's doing Ray's things.
14:04 Information placard here
14:06 of Wuang
14:09 Lee who was born in Myandong or Myang.
14:22 He was arrested by Japanese
14:22 police. Oh my
14:30 goodness. But then in ' 62 was
14:30 postumously awarded an order of merit by
14:33 the foundation from the Republic of
14:35 Korea.
15:13 there. One righteous man. Not even one.
15:13 Everyone has sinned against God. This is
15:17 in English. Dirty talk, looking at
15:20 pornography, fighting, killing, lying,
15:26 stealing, pride, and
15:28 hypocrisy. Yes, these are
15:32 but few days ago, I was on a tour and I
15:35 ended up purchasing some Korean Jensen.
15:38 been taking it I don't know the last
15:40 four or five days, last 4 days. Can't
15:43 tell if I'm really feeling any better or
15:44 not, but supposedly it's good for
15:48 you. But I I I mentioned that because
15:51 there is another one right there and
15:53 another one right there. So this little
15:55 alley through here has a lot of Korean
15:57 gensing which evidently is like four or
15:58 five times stronger than the gensing you
16:01 can get in the
16:07 US supposedly. Oh dang. I don't know
16:07 what this leads to, but just a little
16:10 cafe right here. And uh at a ramen place
16:14 right here. Or maybe it's going the
16:16 other way. You got some Korean red gins
16:19 singing right there. So I guess past
16:22 this point. Uh that's the sign right
16:25 there. Not really
16:27 sure. Guess that cafe means business.
16:30 What's what's going on in that cafe? One
16:33 thing I have learned about Seoul is
16:36 there are plenty of places to eat. You
16:39 will have quite the options. In fact,
16:42 it's
16:43 been really a challenge to just not
16:46 gorge myself while I'm here. I think
16:48 I've done pretty good in the grand
16:50 scheme of things. But everywhere you go,
16:52 it's just food, food, food, food. And
16:54 there are lots of Starbucks. I mean,
16:57 there's coffee everywhere, but Starbucks
16:59 is prevalent just like 7-Elevens in the
17:02 US. They are very, very prevalent here
17:05 as well. That guy just launched some
17:07 water. I'm on my way to try to find a
17:10 record store. Try to find a music store
17:11 that possibly has some records. Maybe
17:13 I'll buy a little souvenir in the form
17:15 of vinyl and an LP. An impulsive
17:18 trip. This visit was very impulsive.
17:21 Didn't really have a major game plan.
17:24 Just like my decision to leave. Very
17:27 impulsive as well. Couple days early.
17:31 Oh, there's like Oh, look at this. They
17:33 have the guards out
17:36 front. Look at
17:38 that. Crossing over
17:40 there. Oh, that's cool.
17:47 That's pretty neat. I don't know if I'm
17:47 allowed to walk up there.
17:49 I'm going to say no. But then again, the
17:51 gate is
17:58 open. Gate is open. I'll just stand
17:58 here. Just stand here and
18:10 watch. I plan some things out. Once I
18:10 know I'm going to an area, I have a few
18:12 key things. It's like I wanted to go to
18:14 both of
18:15 those, do those tours, go to the
18:26 DMZ, go to the two theme
18:26 parks. Got a lot
18:28 done. There was a few days where I was
18:31 just winging it. Obviously kind of a
18:35 impromptu winging it kind of guy. Kind
18:37 of like this trip.
18:43 But I love going places I've never been.
18:44 So check another country off my list.
18:46 The reality in all honesty on why I
18:48 chose to come to South Korea was really
18:51 just on a whim. There was really no
18:53 thought behind it. I was in Vancouver.
18:56 Was it last month? Recently, one of the
18:58 countries I've been to. I knocked Canada
18:59 off. I' been there before, but really
19:01 wanted to to do solid amount of of
19:04 videos in Vancouver. wanted to
19:08 do the Rambo First Blood spots, the ID
19:11 spots, and a few other ones. My buddy
19:13 Nerd locations, lives over in North
19:15 Carolina, Charlotte. He flew in, met me
19:17 there, and we ended up having a good
19:19 time. And in passing, him and his wife
19:21 travel a lot. He was saying, you know,
19:22 where's a great place that we had been
19:24 that a lot of people do not would not
19:25 think would be a good place to go. You
19:27 know, it's kind of off a lot of people's
19:28 radar is South Korea. So, I thought, you
19:30 know what? I just I went ahead and just
19:32 booked the trip and that's it. No more
19:35 thought went into it other than
19:38 that. Farthest place I've ever been on a
19:42 complete impulsive decision. Booked the
19:45 flight, booked the
19:46 hotel, and I'm happy. I'm happy I came
19:55 here. I really enjoy I really enjoyed
19:55 it. So, you never know. You just tell me
19:57 something in passing like, "Oh, that'd
19:58 be cool country to go to." It might not
20:01 resonate immediately off off the
20:04 original hearing of it. Then it might
20:06 just sink in and you never know. It
20:08 might end up there. So you never know
20:10 how when you say something to someone
20:12 how it could end up how it could end up
20:15 just sticking in their brain. This is
20:16 Burger King. Look at this bad boy.
20:19 I'm pretty good on food right now. I've
20:21 I've eaten enough. I've got my food
20:23 quota while here for sure. But look at
20:26 this. It would it would have been kind
20:27 of neat to do like a little to chow down
20:30 on some BK, but I think my stomach's
20:33 good. They've been flame grilling since
20:37 1954. The king of
20:49 burgers. This is the site of Kim
20:49 Suyong. This is their
20:52 birthplace, 1921 to 1968.
21:00 right in front of the VK. Of course, the
21:00 BK was not here, though.
21:25 Whenever I travel, I always like to pick
21:25 up socks. I'm going to get myself some
21:28 Korean socks here. They are
21:31 13,000 Juan, which should be like seven
21:39 bucks. These are a little There's
21:39 another one. 12,000. This look a little
21:41 cleaner
21:57 perhaps. Or Oh, those are cute. Toe
21:57 socks. Look at
21:58 that. Could go with some gray ones.
22:00 Maybe. Go with some gray socks. Yeah, go
22:03 with the gray
22:06 ones. Go gray. Oh, these are nice, too.
22:09 Look at
22:22 these,
22:22 toothpaste, soap,
22:25 pay phone. There's a pay
22:36 phone. So, up here is a CD vinyl record
22:36 shop.
22:38 So, I'm going to peruse around, see what
22:40 I can
22:42 find, maybe get myself a little
22:44 souvenir. Be kind of neat to buy a
22:46 record. Oh, look up
22:47 here. There's the King Elvis
22:51 Presley. Also transcending all the way
22:54 over here. All right, success. So, I had
22:57 to look this up. This is a three-piece
23:01 pop group called Subanchka. This is the
23:04 third album they ever put out. This full
23:06 length. I ended up I just like the album
23:08 cover. They are from here in Korea. I
23:11 tried to see if they had Gundam Style
23:13 the the picture disc LP, but she said
23:16 they did not have that. So, I just kind
23:18 of prove they had a lot of American
23:19 stuff too as well. But I thought, you
23:21 know what? I should probably maybe this
23:22 will be a thing I do when I go to the
23:24 other countries. Try to find a group
23:26 from that country to to purchase. And
23:29 really what kind of drew me in was the
23:30 album cover and the back right here,
23:33 these guys. So, I got a little little
23:36 souvenir in the form of it was it was
23:39 45,000 Juan, which is a little pricey. I
23:41 think that's like was that like 25
23:43 bucks, but you know, records are aren't
23:45 pricey. But I got a little memory and a
23:47 little souvenir and I'll have to check
23:48 this out and throw it on when I when I
23:50 finally get home, whatever the heck that
23:51 is. But when I get home, I'm not heading
23:54 home on this. I'm leaving soon, but I'm
23:57 not heading back home immediately. But
23:58 I'll get home at some point and this
24:00 will be in my
24:05 luggage. I'll definitely when I get home
24:05 I'll be putting that bad boy on, giving
24:07 it a
24:09 spin. It's good to have things from
24:12 places you go, little little memories,
24:14 you know, you can look back on. And
24:16 vinyl really doesn't take up a lot of
24:18 space in my in my luggage. Basically,
24:20 what I do is I take the clothes out of
24:22 my bag and then I lay the vinyl down and
24:25 uh that's then I put the stuff on top of
24:27 it. really doesn't take up a lot of
24:28 space. It's just so thin. Magnets don't
24:30 take up a lot of space either. I bought
24:32 a few magnets while here in Korea as
24:35 well. So, I got some souvenirs to put
24:36 all my metal casings or my metal
24:41 cabinets in the
24:51 garage. I would say this has been a
24:51 successful, fun, enjoyable trip. Really
24:54 has been.
25:04 I am so far from home. It It really
25:04 blows my mind when I think about how far
25:06 away from Celebration I
25:09 am. Can't think about it too long. You
25:11 start to go a little wacky thinking
25:13 about the distance of how far it is.
25:50 Back at my hotel entrance. Go to the
25:50 14th floor. Give a little room
25:54 tour. Keep in mind I've been in there
25:56 for well over a
25:59 week. I mean, it's tidy, but it's not
26:02 it's not
26:03 checkin. It's not check-in tidy.
26:13 I really like this hotel. Again, the
26:13 only unusual part of it was the
26:18 elevator. Slow going on the
26:31 elevator. I like the little figure out
26:31 front. Not really
26:33 sure what the figure is doing, but it's
26:36 it's good size
26:43 figure. Yeah, my room's on the other
26:43 side facing the tower. Facing this whole
26:45 tower, which was great. 14th floor.
26:50 There's me. A character of
26:57 me. Okay, I can kind of see
26:57 it. I can kind of see it. Stepping back,
27:01 looking out the
27:08 window. It was just me, but had two
27:08 beds. Slumbered in this
27:17 one. Got the extra one here. Now,
27:17 they're not they were just twin beds, so
27:21 not a whole lot of room, but
27:23 enough to get a little
27:31 rest. Had a TV in
27:31 here. Got the umbrella, which I'm not
27:34 going to take with me
27:36 because not going to take that on the
27:38 plane. Think it was only like seven
27:41 wands.
27:43 So, got my shoes down there. I got my
27:45 Crocs down
27:47 there. Got my
27:50 luggage. Then over here, got my little
27:52 calendar book. I have my I've been doing
27:54 this for the last few years. It's like
27:56 my third or fourth year doing this where
27:58 I have the actual calendar where I can
28:01 write everything in there. Helps me keep
28:02 track of travels and everything. Hotel
28:05 rooms, flights, rental cars booked,
28:08 etc. My raise cap, even though they
28:12 didn't do too well today.
28:19 our phone over there in the corner.
28:19 Also, I had to bring these along with
28:22 me. This is the converter for Korea.
28:25 Plugs into the wall there. And
28:28 then the other items plug into there.
28:32 Charge my phone, charge my laptop,
28:34 charge the camera batteries, etc. So,
28:37 these are definitely good when you
28:38 travel. Got to make sure you have the
28:42 right the right plugins or you will not
28:44 be able to plug in your US outlets or
28:47 your US plugins into the outlets. They
28:50 also had these which are kind of nice. I
28:52 didn't utilize them, but there's a
28:54 couple of them here that want to put
28:56 them on after having just a relaxing
28:59 evening in the room per
29:06 se. You had to put this in order to make
29:06 the lights work. You got button for the
29:10 toilet. Do not disturb. Make up the room
29:12 in case there's a power outage or
29:14 something. You have this flashlight
29:17 here. And then nice walk-in shower right
29:27 there. You got the extra towels down
29:27 below, some soaps, some
29:30 lotions, some cups right there. And then
29:35 the toilet was really nice. the commode.
29:37 You flip that up and where you put your
29:38 high knee on the toilet was heated. It
29:41 wasn't like scorching hot, but it was
29:43 warm enough to where it didn't give you
29:46 like a little jolt when you sat on a
29:47 cold toilet seat. So, that was
29:48 interesting. Not sure if I liked it or
29:51 if it was kind of
29:57 different, but nonetheless,
29:57 that's that's what it was. And then you
30:00 would flush it by pushing
30:03 this. And then you have all these other
30:06 things, a little bedet,
30:24 right, that's going to do it for
30:24 today. Hey, this is my room. South
30:27 Korea, Four Points by
30:29 Sheridan, overlooking the side of the
30:32 city that has the Soul Tower.
30:42 Korea. Thanks for watching. I'll see you
30:42 in the next video. The
