0:31 e that's McCartney with a
0:34 mustache welcome everyone Adam the woo
0:37 here it's my second channel daily Vlog
0:40 channel it's the daily
0:43 woo you cannot go that way there is a
0:46 barricade you can go this way this road
0:49 is always interesting to me because that
0:50 side of the road is never used and it
0:53 hasn't been for years I'm meeting a
0:55 friend here shortly and we're going to
0:56 go on some serious ADV what the heck
1:00 look at the front of this Walmart they
1:01 have fested it with blue that wasn't the
1:04 most accurate description Walmart's
1:06 color has always been blue but the front
1:07 of that building looked a little
1:09 different than normal right check this
1:11 guy out there's another one way up here
1:14 too all I need is some tasty buds a cool
1:17 way some cool way I screwed it up I
1:19 screwed it up all I need are some was it
1:23 was it Tunes I don't know we messed it
1:26 up all I need are some tasty waves a
1:29 cool but does and I'm fine right here on
1:32 the corner of fosa Gardens Boulevard
1:36 right over there used to stand a huge
1:38 sign used to say Splendid China right
1:41 over here on the right was where the
1:43 property was and the only thing that is
1:45 left are a few remnants of the walls and
1:49 the road but everything from the sky
1:52 looks like everything has been torn down
1:54 the buildings the attractions even the
1:56 rock formations and all the little
1:58 gazebos and things they had built
2:00 Miniatures of all of it's gone and the
2:02 rumor is this is going to be a Jimmy
2:04 Buffett Resort
2:06 attraction covering this whole area so
2:09 this whole area is going to grow
2:10 considerably right now it's pretty much
2:12 nothing just construction I kind of
2:14 wonder if they're going to leave these
2:15 walls up just maybe as like a little
2:18 momento to Splendid China a little theme
2:21 park history in Central Florida that no
2:23 longer exists if you look closely there
2:25 is a man on top of that airplane in
2:28 recent years they built this crazy
2:31 looking spaceship looking building off
2:35 the side of I4 what the heck is that
2:37 we're now in downtown
2:38 Lakeland and we're on our way to a
2:41 familiar spot the Southgate Shopping
2:43 Center an interesting fact is the very
2:45 first filming location video I ever did
2:48 in the history of any of my YouTube
2:49 channels was Edward Scissor Hands and
2:52 the interesting thing it also is that
2:55 Micah is probably the biggest fan of
2:59 that movie movie I've ever met and look
3:01 how empty this is there's a Publix's
3:03 over there in an Office Depot that has
3:06 some customers but the whole rest of the
3:08 parking lot all of this is completely
3:12 empty I can't believe there's like no
3:14 one out here look how empty this is and
3:16 Johnny Depp was standing right where
3:17 you're
3:18 standing just like that with his little
3:20 like crazy hands of blades every few
3:23 years or so I will pass by this location
3:26 to check to
3:28 see it's locked and if you look in the
3:30 back here this used to be a wine shop
3:32 but in the movie it was the salon and
3:35 that's the back room where Edward was
3:37 being seduced and I think the story on
3:39 this is Tim Burton heard of this place
3:41 and he liked the sign so much that he
3:44 decided they were going to film here
3:45 because strip malls were very popular
3:48 during the era that the movie was based
3:49 in and what better thing to have on
3:52 screen than this epic sign it's very Tim
3:56 Burton esque this is something that you
3:57 can expect to see in a Tim Burton movie
4:00 so when he saw it he said oh heck yeah
4:02 we're filming
4:04 there Adam the
4:07 woo oh there's a bee right there too
4:10 look at that crazy bee just hanging on
4:12 for dear life someone has drawn a man
4:14 with a beard and another guy with a
4:18 baseball cap on the back of that
4:20 truck little mobile
4:24 artwork look at this happy guy we're
4:26 going to get some lunch at Sunny's
4:30 just got to find something on the menu
4:31 that looks looks o definitely going to
4:34 get some sweet tea corn poppers I've
4:36 never had one of those corn corn nuggets
4:39 call corn nuggets and I got fried okra
4:41 with ranch dressing so we got double the
4:45 appetizers we are now in Barto
4:48 Florida I'm going to stop by somewhere I
4:50 haven't been in a few years right up the
4:52 road here and there it is look at
4:56 that my girl I got the pin right there
4:59 there look how grown over the back is
5:02 used to be a bed and breakfast and then
5:06 the property was sold I think someone
5:08 has bought it basically as a home now I
5:10 parked my van in the same spot that jam
5:12 Lee Curtis parked her
5:15 RV and you can see right up here there
5:18 are a lot of no trespassing signs in the
5:21 yard and up on the porch now clearly
5:24 stating not open to public you used to
5:27 be allowed to go sit on the porch
5:30 but whoever now owns the property will
5:33 not allow you to do that I guess that
5:35 must be their car right
5:37 there so no longer no longer accessible
5:40 right up there in that top window would
5:43 have been the room of V sulan fuss the
5:46 Gazebo is completely covered in Kudzu
5:49 and you can't even walk down the
5:51 sidewalk it's so overgrown now this tree
5:54 over the road has this dangling Vine
5:58 that basically stretches all the way
6:00 down into the middle of the road it's
6:03 like Jack in the beant stock style or
6:05 something you going to climb the top of
6:06 it I'm going to try I don't think it'll
6:08 hold my weight what did what was the
6:10 Jack in the bean stock he had jelly
6:11 beans right it was a magic bean and he
6:13 it fell in the crack and then it
6:15 sprouted something like this and he
6:17 climbed up past the clouds and there
6:19 lived the Fifi foam giant there's an old
6:22 drugstore right here off the side of the
6:24 road and from what it looks like
6:26 everything is still inside hey look
6:28 these screws
6:30 must be tightened and if you look in
6:32 there look at that old clock on the wall
6:35 and old fax machine down here they
6:38 removed the products but a lot of the
6:40 electronics are still in there featuring
6:42 diabetes shop check it out the old
6:45 Cypress Garden sign is still right there
6:48 on the street corner this whole area
6:49 here used to be Circus World and then
6:52 later became boardwalk in baseball it's
6:56 where the Kansas City Royals used to
6:58 have their spring training
7:00 facility and it's pretty much been
7:03 non-existent for
7:05 years the roads are still here but
7:08 that's about it there are no buildings
7:10 no nothing just roads where we're going
7:13 we don't need roads but you have a lot
7:15 of them check out the street sign Royals
7:19 way even though there really is no
7:22 traffic out here they're still titled
7:25 after the former baseball team that used
7:27 to be here let me rephrase that the team
7:28 still exists
7:30 they just don't practice on the spot any
7:32 there's a few signs on the property
7:33 saying restricted area even though
7:35 anyone can just drive up in here I guess
7:38 technically they do not want people
7:39 wandering around and the interesting
7:41 thing about this when there used to be
7:43 roller coasters and rides out here
7:45 Michael Jackson actually rented the
7:47 property for a night and if you do your
7:50 Columbo likee research online you can
7:52 find
7:53 photos of the king of pop out here
7:56 riding the coasters on this very
7:58 property that is now completely Barren
8:01 empty and
8:12 abandoned wait a
8:12 second is that bird DG in typical
8:15 Florida fashion it just was not raining
8:18 and now we're about to enter a
8:21 thunderstorm so it's starting to slowly
8:23 sprinkle and we're going deeper and
8:26 deeper into the depths of H2O
8:30 goodness as it hydrates the Earth fing
8:34 from the
8:36 sky man that was kind of
8:39 cool the
8:47 storm it's gotten dark out Nightfall is
8:47 starting to rear its ugly head if you
8:51 turn left on New York Avenue from
8:54 Highway 192 in St Cloud you will enter
8:57 the downtown area
9:00 and I am driving by here to end the
9:03 Vlog for one purpose there was a movie
9:06 that was filmed here in
9:08 1964 by the name of 2,000 maniacs and
9:12 the director of that film was known as
9:15 The Godfather of Gore hersel Gordon
9:19 Lewis I had the privilege of meeting him
9:21 on one occasion and was able to show
9:23 screenshots of some of the filming
9:25 locations from the movie that I hunted
9:27 down right here on this very Road and on
9:30 other occasions I was able to have a
9:33 conversation with him through email and
9:35 I tried even organizing a 2,000 Maniacs
9:39 screening at the small movie theater
9:42 which is at the end of the road and to
9:44 the right I'm standing here now because
9:47 he has passed away and I want to pay my
9:49 respects to The Godfather of Gore a man
9:53 who a lot of other directors looked up
9:56 to they used him as inspiration one
9:58 person in particular Toby Hooper who you
10:00 might know from the original 1974 Texas
10:04 Chainsaw Massacre that was created 10
10:06 years after 2,000 Maniacs was filmed
10:10 right on this very Street and because of
10:11 him in that movie dan Bell who does
10:14 videos on YouTube a lot of really cool
10:16 abandoned places him and I became
10:18 friends because Dan drove out here to
10:22 check out the filming locations so I
10:24 gave Dan a little tour of downtown St
10:27 Cloud and the 2000 Mania filming
10:30 locations and look at that Sunset an
10:32 appropriate setting to
10:34 say Vlog over
