today's adventure brings us to st. cloud
0:03
Florida and as stated on the water tower
0:08
behind all this Moss ridden branches of
0:13
the tree celebrating small-town life I
0:20
moved here in 1991 with my family and
0:23
lived in this area had apartments and
0:27
homesteads until 2011 and they started
0:31
traveling and making videos well in
0:35
actuality was a couple of years prior
0:36
when I started making them but that's
0:38
that's the year I hit the road and
0:40
started traveling full-time
0:53
welcome everyone a Adam the Wu here I
0:53
got I just roam around the stomping
0:56
grounds of myself time surely has flown
1:01
since those days not much has changed
1:04
here in the old st c that's just what
1:09
some of the locals at least back in
1:11
those days used to refer to it as we get
1:15
asked a lot of questions one of the most
1:18
common I would say top five if not top
1:20
four or maybe three or maybe even in the
1:23
top two is what the heck does Adams the
1:26
Wu mean and where did you get that name
1:30
how did you come up with it were you
1:32
born with it
1:33
the bandshell many memories here it's
1:38
also very very interesting that this
1:40
park rarely never gets used for anything
1:45
in fact I can count on one hand how many
1:47
times I've seen anything taking place
1:50
and I think I think it's a parking issue
1:53
there's really nowhere to park a
1:55
congregation of people more than a dozen
1:57
or two unless you're in downtown Saint
2:01
Cloud which is right over there we will
2:02
walk over there momentarily all this
2:05
this circumference of three blocks the
2:07
original three streets when this
2:10
community was originated over a hundred
2:13
years ago was all in this neck of the
2:16
woods needs to have an apartment one of
2:18
many apartments in Osceola County was
2:21
right over there I could see it
2:23
and see it we're gonna go go check it
2:27
out I'm inviting you to join me shall
2:30
you if he would have told the skinny red
2:32
shirt wearing slam dancing circle pit
2:36
starting lad that's myself right there
2:42
having a good old time not a care in the
2:44
world enjoying the music of my friends
2:48
local band they were performing right
2:51
here and this this is where that photo
2:56
was taken
3:32
mid-90s 495 ish perhaps was also the
3:32
time period when I came up with my stage
3:35
stage not at this event but in that
3:40
general general fry months or that year
3:43
Adam the whoo which spoiler alert means
3:48
absolutely nothing
3:58
there is no reference to anyone any
3:58
musical group any wrestler nothing
4:02
nothing came into my head more on that
4:05
later I discussed this before but it's
4:08
been a heck of a long time ago now keep
4:11
in mind this was years years and years
4:14
and years before I uploaded anything
4:17
onto this platform the name was around
4:22
way prior ten or fifteen years before I
4:26
moved out of this final apartment I
4:28
lived in in downtown that upstairs there
4:31
above the business next to the peanuts
4:34
Playhouse it wasn't that done but it is
4:36
now spent many hours sitting on this
4:39
planter after work relaxing a little
4:41
downtime he would enter my establishment
4:45
through that metal door and the top
4:47
three windows were my place the far
4:50
right my bedroom door her my bedroom
4:55
not door just my bedroom I could look
4:58
out over this corner Street certainly
5:01
have cleaned up the Big D's tavern the
5:04
sign still remains but played quite a
5:06
few shows with my band inside there look
5:10
totally different except for just kind
5:12
of the layout and design of the exterior
5:15
as well as a little restoration on this
5:18
facade says 2018 on the mural up top
5:22
there this is about a block away from
5:23
where I've eventually laid my head but
5:26
those windows at the top of this
5:28
building we're very decrepit falling
5:31
apart residence I often not but it's a
5:35
lot nicer now about a thousand percent
5:38
nicer than it was back then a thousand
5:41
and four percent to be precise speaking
5:44
of those who lived here
5:45
the first residence ever in town were
5:48
over there at the hotel st. cloud off in
5:53
the distance way back in 1909 it's been
5:57
standing strong for all this time it's
6:00
been under restoration for quite a while
6:02
but this fantastic saying is still
6:05
etched on the wall
6:14
rejuvenation of history very slow going
6:14
but some rejuvenation seems to be taking
6:19
place the former People's Bank was said
6:21
to be robbed by John Dillinger
6:23
it was later later debunked as was the
6:26
statement that this section would become
6:29
skyscrapers a high rise in this tiny
6:32
town I kind of figured that would not
6:35
take place and and since it wasn't
6:39
announced all the all the fences have
6:41
been taken down it's not happening one
6:45
of the original buildings still stands
6:47
on the far right with that overhanging
6:49
that awning general store down stairs
6:52
and upstairs for those who passed away
6:56
that's where that was the parlor they
6:59
were taken to of course this is over a
7:02
century ago
7:08
also fascinated by all these paintings
7:08
to tell the history this is the train
7:13
station
7:19
train tracks are long gone oh wait I'm
7:19
incorrect this is not the train station
7:21
this is everybody the old sugar mill I
7:27
stand corrected
7:27
it was one of the advanced sugar mills
7:30
of its time the plantation would
7:32
eventually be bought and become the town
7:35
of st. cloud Wow now that is a serious
7:42
throwback it's peeling off but gosh that
7:47
throwback alert those who know no as
7:52
well as shopping at Moore's market these
7:55
always call it Moore's market but it's
7:57
spelled out Morse it's kind of a rite of
7:59
passage for locals definitely a rite of
8:03
passage
8:31
with this sidewalk
8:31
and grassy section used to be a huge
8:35
ravine drainage ditch he could not cross
8:39
over to the other Street over there back
8:41
in the early 90s this shopping complex
8:43
was a Walmart just a normal Walmart and
8:48
it was uprooted and moved across the
8:49
street and became super Walmart
9:00
it was one of the biggest things to
9:01
happen to this small town and I ended up
9:05
getting a job here prior to its opening
9:10
was about one of a few dozen who were
9:13
hired to transfer stuff from the old
9:16
location to this one and set up shelving
9:20
unload trucks then eventually went on to
9:24
work in the grocery department I did not
9:28
own a vehicle so in order to commute to
9:30
and from work I take the bus just like
9:33
the one that's parked over there
9:34
currently
9:43
I don't have any food sorry I don't have
9:43
any food
9:45
they have built some new new seedings
9:48
and a little overhang since the since
9:51
those does link number 10 signs still
9:56
here as are the original benches from
10:00
most so long ago very faded very very
10:03
faded I don't think anyone sits on these
10:06
anymore
10:12
starting to fall apart out of boredom
10:12
one day after I got off my shift and
10:15
clocked out they used to sell these
10:18
little return address label stamp pad
10:22
sets it would give you a little tweezer
10:24
in the kit and you would pull out the
10:27
little oh hello there the little rubber
10:31
letters and you would make up or place
10:35
your real name on the return address
10:38
stamp pad and your address and I had a
10:41
few bills at the time and I would also
10:43
since its big into the music scene and I
10:46
would write letters to bands that I
10:50
enjoy they back then it was an email
10:52
list you would get correspondence you
10:55
would fill out you go to a concert and
10:57
you would put your address on a band
11:00
mailing list so you would get stuff sent
11:02
to you stickers and pins and behind the
11:05
scenes info so when I would do that
11:08
sometimes I would write back and I
11:11
wanted to use an alias so I created an
11:15
alias with that stamp pad set that I got
11:19
right inside there they don't sell them
11:21
because who really uses snail mail and I
11:24
sat right here in this very spot and
11:26
created a series of names Adam something
11:30
Adams something just made up a bunch of
11:34
random incoherent ramblings through that
11:37
tweezer set and through that little
11:40
stamp pad and I'm probably about twelve
11:44
thirteen fourteen tries later a baker's
11:46
dozen if you will came up with Adam the
11:51
whoo and use that for a while didn't
11:54
really go anywhere but then when social
11:56
media started to pop up years later all
11:58
the social media platforms I just use
12:01
that out of the whoo and then of course
12:03
eBay I would sell on eBay for quite some
12:06
time and I used Adams the whoo as my
12:10
eBay name and then when YouTube came
12:12
around even before I knew what a channel
12:16
really was no one really did he had to
12:18
put a username down so you guessed it
12:23
out of the was my username and as that
12:26
started to take off and all of us
12:28
including myself started to realize what
12:30
a channel was about the name was already
12:34
there and I was that's
12:38
that was how the birth of the name Adam
12:39
the woo came to be right there on that
12:43
bench well it could have been it was one
12:45
of these two was on I took us was on
12:49
this dilapidated piece of wood
13:12
fast forward about 14 years or sup to my
13:12
first adventure video which took place
13:17
right here at that sugar mill I still
13:23
remember the first time I ever got
13:24
recognized for doing a video was in this
13:29
Circle K corner of 192 in Michigan
13:33
getting a soda someone said hey you're
13:37
Adam the whoo right took me by surprise
13:48
as much as I'd like to say that there
13:48
has a meaning wo-ho has a meaning or a
13:52
reference or is inspired by something a
13:55
group or a particular person someone
13:59
that's a you know already out there with
14:02
that name or not true it's just random
14:09
completely pointless it's become what it
14:15
is which always fascinates me when I
14:18
think of anything that has a name when
14:21
you first hear it you're like yeah
14:22
that's doesn't make any sense
14:25
but over time when it's stated enough
14:28
and it becomes part of the vernacular
14:31
and part of an everyday occurrence it
14:34
just makes sense let's say a you know a
14:37
music group AB and a establishment of
14:41
business all those are perfect examples
14:44
as is added the whoo
14:51
I sure watch it if you're new here
