0:04 today's adventure
0:04 begins in Canada as the recording of
0:08 this Monday March 10th
0:11 2025 I am standing in front of this
0:16 logger reminds me of kind of a Muffler
0:19 Man a little more modern day day era
0:23 Muffler Man newer version of a muffler
0:26 man that you see across the US OFA this
0:28 is the Canadian in logger version of
0:32 that Muffler Man roadside here in
0:36 Squamish British Colombia
0:40 Squamish and I am going to be going Sky
0:43 High from the sea to the sky on a
0:53 gondola welcome everyone Adam the woo
0:53 here up top here nerd locations filling
0:57 up the rental car we
0:58 almost ran out of gas but we made it
1:02 just on the cusp before the fumes were
1:06 you know before we running on fumes but
1:08 we made it we made it here to
1:10 Squamish we're so excited about going
1:13 from the sea to the sky we did not check
1:15 the gas gauge but we made it and now
1:16 we're going to head up top and just see
1:18 where the day leads I'm inviting you to
1:19 join me it's good to have you here shall
1:22 you there's the Gonda going up the side
1:25 of the mountain evidently here it is
1:27 still considered winter
1:36 nice cool
1:36 crispness parking area look at that
1:38 amazing waterfall up there this is going
1:41 to be a Scenic day in some
1:44 ways okay don't really know how the day
1:47 is going to plan out and pan out but
1:50 wanted to do this while I was here
1:52 there's the Squamish taxi dropping
1:55 people off now I was really taken back
1:57 by the cost of admission to this $8 to
2:01 park and $80 a person to go up so the
2:05 two tickets I got was ended up being1
2:07 165 or almost 170 for an adult lift
2:11 ticket and I was like holy goodness what
2:13 all do I get for that what' you think
2:15 about that uh that sticker
2:18 shock 80
2:20 b a
2:22 person and then I you asked if there was
2:25 coffee and he goes oh at the top and
2:28 there's a webcam it's snowing up there
2:30 and I said do we get free cafee and he
2:32 goes no no coffee no C no the coffee is
2:35 coffee up there but it's not part of the
2:37 $8 ticket maybe the translation from the
2:40 dollar up here to Dollar that's what I
2:42 was
2:45 thinking this is going to be the size of
2:47 the gondola I just did one of these in
2:49 Ecuador
2:50 actually did a bunch of this reminds me
2:52 of Stone Mountain in Atlanta Georgia I
2:56 did one of these in Ecuador I think the
2:58 one I did in Ecuador with my my uncle
3:00 and Mom my aunt and their friends I
3:02 think it was like six bucks I think it
3:05 was like six bucks same size Gondola
3:07 also very similar to the Skyliner at
3:09 Walt Disney World it looks like this
3:11 almost the same size gondolas as the
3:14 Skyliner wdw that runs from the resorts
3:17 we're off and we are off on the
3:21 Gondola
3:24 to I don't know where we're going going
3:27 to the top of a mountain what the name
3:29 of the mountain I don't even know we'll
3:30 find out when we get there most
3:32 important thing there's coffee up here
3:34 coffee non-complimentary coffee it'll be
3:37 $17 a cup I and the parking wasn't
3:40 included in that yeah it's been pretty
3:43 much raining every day I've been here
3:45 yesterday was did not stop at all
3:48 today not quite as heavy of a rain but
3:51 still raining nonetheless the road we
3:52 drove in on down
3:54 there kind of along the shoreline of
3:56 this big lake
4:15 so
4:19 quiet starting to see some snow yeah
4:23 it's going to turn out to be a pretty
4:24 good
4:26 day how stressed were you with that you
4:28 thought we were going to run out of gas
4:30 I thought we were going to be
4:31 walking walk the side of the road I
4:35 thought we were on fumes man I thought
4:36 we were going to be hitching we we Coast
4:39 Coast how did we not check the gas gauge
4:42 coasted into the gas station we made it
4:44 though we were on we were probably went
4:46 25 miles through the mountains on when
4:49 the when the light was on yeah on and
4:52 those Hills going up and down the
4:53 mountains that's that's that that was
4:55 what was worrying me but we made it the
4:57 suspension Sky Bridge which we're now
4:59 walking across the sky Bridge getting
5:01 properly caffeinated where the sky
5:04 Bridge goes across the way here quite a
5:07 few people walking across the sky Bridge
5:09 as well but I got my got my latte
5:12 here let's see what else we can find as
5:15 we continue around I'm really hoping to
5:17 see a bear kind of neat to see a bear
5:19 out here kind of like uh kind of be cool
5:22 this kind of reminds me of the sky
5:23 Bridge they built at the top of a
5:25 section in gurg not an Aisa but the
5:27 other the other attraction CU like I Sky
5:29 Bridge similar to this which I think is
5:31 the world's largest or longest Sky
5:33 bridge this one's not quite as long as
5:34 that one but this one's definitely a
5:36 little higher up now that I'm up here I
5:39 can definitely tell this is the
5:41 elevation is pretty wild on how high it
5:43 is it's very very brisk I made it across
5:46 the bridge we're getting into some snow
5:49 and ice
5:50 here very uh look at this very slick and
5:56 then we can talk to her there's
5:58 the here's
6:05 the do you I climb sit lean or stand on
6:06 the
6:06 fences gravity Works do not put stuff on
6:14 fence you don't want to hop over that
6:14 cuz you would you would slip right down
6:16 the side of that thing that would be
6:17 like the worst sliping slide
6:22 ever those crampons micro spikes or
6:24 snowshoes are
6:26 recommended in fact as we were walking
6:28 up here there's a group in front of us
6:30 guy slipped kind of ate it
6:34 so I mean I've walked in a lot of snow
6:37 with these
6:38 typical tennis shoes so I should be okay
6:41 but you never know with ice this is
6:43 called the Spirit Trail
7:01 I didn't think I was going to be seeing
7:01 snow
7:02 today I mean I guess I should have known
7:04 with the elevation up here but didn't
7:05 think I'd be in the
7:12 snow man I want to see a
7:12 bear what the odds of seeing some bears
7:14 up
7:20 here I do love the sound of crunching
7:20 snow under your feet it's just such a
7:21 cool sound
7:50 shoot ooo dude I almost slipped there
7:50 hardcore look I spilled my coffee
7:52 everywhere I thought I I almost ate crap
7:55 careful coming down there look at you
7:57 see the little coffee stains you're
7:59 still holding strong de your
8:07 I wow okay should we go this
8:32 this one's a little less sketchy than
8:32 the one I did in
8:35 bise crossing over the saboon river on
8:39 my mosquito Coast day what a day that
8:43 was feel a little safer on this bridge
8:45 though my hands are pretty numb how are
8:47 yours Frozen
8:50 yeah it's cold up here way colder up
8:53 here than it is at ground level do not
8:55 swing the gondolas that's what that sign
8:57 says so I am ended up getting a little
9:01 souvenir in the form of a Sea to Sky
9:05 Gondola magnet I put it on my metal
9:07 cabinets in my garage this will go under
9:10 the international Travel section the
9:13 Canadian Gondola SE to
9:16 Sky and I discovered near here on the
9:18 way back to Vancouver few miles gu south
9:22 of here is a Mine Museum where you can
9:25 ride in a mine cart so I think we're
9:28 going to go check that out
9:29 all right getting ready to go
9:31 over the little Plateau here and we're
9:34 going to be heading downward into the
9:37 fog into the haze into the Mist into the
9:40 darkness and the Shadows it's a
9:42 nightmare but it's one exciting
9:44 ride a Beauty and the
9:47 Beast
9:49 reference man this looks cool all right
9:51 this is pretty cool Going Back Down The
9:53 Descent there with the trees and the
9:56 haze really is
9:59 really is quite a Vibe we're going to
10:01 head down that road all right we are now
10:03 over at the britania Mine Museum there
10:07 are some Muses here including an
10:08 underground train and tour oh yeah
10:12 anytime I see some train tracks I know
10:14 it's going to be a good exper look at
10:16 this I think think that's it right
10:27 there Rania yeah this thing is a
10:31 beast
10:38 wow you're blowing the
10:39 horn for reference I'm
10:43 63 yeah get over there stand next to
10:45 that
10:52 tire that's like a 10-ft
10:52 tire we're going to head over to the
10:54 machine shop now
12:05 this machine like this could move 16 to
12:05 20 tons of rock an
12:24 hour that's the ambulance car right
12:24 there
12:33 this car transported injuries Injured
12:33 Workers to the surface it is a poignant
12:36 reminder of the dangers faced in Mii
12:41 look at
12:42 the this is where they laid right
12:45 here
12:54 interesting it's like a little it's a
12:54 cradle for a larger
12:56 person that was being taken out
13:19 Underground all the Machinery all the
13:19 saws up there
13:45 it's a man car how did they get to work
13:45 a man car would carry up to 12 men they
13:48 would travel to 45 minutes underground
13:51 cramped in the conditions to get to work
14:15 the old ring
14:15 toss so I guess this is what they used
14:17 to play they made their own game let's
14:20 see if I'm any good at it see if I'm in
14:22 natural this is awesome look it's the
14:25 entrance to the original Mill or at
14:28 least one of the M
14:31 shafts you know I don't know if I've
14:32 ever seen a m shaft in person before
14:34 like this like you know I've seen what a
14:37 recreation of one but to see this and
14:40 think back pre1 1921 of them going into
14:55 amazing you can see the boards are all
14:55 falling down right there
15:06 kind of reminds me of the one from from
15:06 First Blood doesn't it
15:34 I mean there's just rows and rows and
15:34 rows of
15:37 itemized pieces you can even see the
15:39 numbers here with the itemized piece
15:41 numbers on them almost like a library of
15:56 rock that is really
15:56 fascinating so if you wanted to look at
15:58 a find a pie
15:59 of you know piece of the rock there it's
16:02 all it's all
16:04 coated at least that's my assumption
16:06 anyway but pre 1921 there was an entire
16:10 other section right here that burned
16:12 down and they've just left all the ruins
16:15 up there on the side of the hill all
16:17 right so evidently Scooby-Doo 2 was
16:19 filmed here and a bunch of X
16:22 Files I think a something to do with
16:25 goosebumps was also filmed here on this
16:29 property and we are on our way now to
16:32 the Underground Tour here in the copper
16:36 sulfate
16:50 mine this okay this is very fascinating
16:50 this is where they stored this was their
16:52 lockers you got Lynn you got George you
16:54 got Jenny you got Janie you got Jeremy
17:04 that's what this building here was used
17:04 for or at least now it symbolizes
17:23 that passing the pump
17:24 house got to go past and over the
17:27 conveyor shed yeah I'm glad we're doing
17:30 this this is the last washrooms before
17:34 underground maybe I should utilize that
17:36 real quick all this is going to be
17:38 really really cool here at the Train
17:47 Pavilion we're all going to load on this
17:47 train put
17:57 andth
17:57 than where are you going
18:03 didn't think we'd be doing this today
18:03 didn't think I'd be walking in snow and
18:05 going deep into a
18:08 mine oh yeah you know I've been on Seven
18:10 Dwarfs Mine Train to Disney World Magic
18:12 Kingdom I've been on the knottsberry
18:14 farm M Train this is the real freaking
18:19 deal oh yeah oh yeah oh
18:23 yeah he said there's going to be three
18:25 Extremely Loud Noises he's going to get
18:28 a
18:35 warning I'm try to talk too much keep it
18:35 keep it to the organic STS
20:02 of course Big Thunder Mountain
20:02 Railroad similar to this type of
20:10 theming that's more of a mountain
20:10 mountain train ride though
21:51 very
21:51 muddy very muddy and nasty down
21:59 here those are probably have to get a
21:59 bit closer together so you want to keep
22:02 moving down a little
22:05 bit so like I said if you feel
22:07 uncomfortable at any moment you can just
22:09 let me know and make your way out that
22:11 way so during your train rides in did
22:15 you guys notice any interesting colors
22:17 on the tunnel wall the oldest drill here
22:21 is this drill your hammer and your drill
22:24 steel this is how the Britannia Mine
22:27 begins of course the way this goes take
22:30 your drill steel put it up against the
22:32 wall get your
22:34 Hammer twist
22:38 twist and so on and so forth all day
22:41 every
22:42 day and the drill will be running in
22:46 three 2 1
23:13 multitask pretty
23:22 loud and we're getting this thing moving
23:24 in three two one
24:21 bu that is not supposed to stay up like
24:21 that so of course you're not completely
24:24 in the dark because you do have your
24:26 company issued light to help you see
24:28 your way around while you
24:30 work this seems like a horrible
24:34 idea they know what they're
24:36 doing the candles they used for the
24:39 first 15 years that the mine operated
24:43 and this is a bit better than total
24:44 darkness so it's not that bad as well
24:47 the candle holder is pretty good it's
24:48 got a nice long end to it so we can
24:50 drill a small hole stick the candle in
24:54 and enjoy some handsfree candle
24:56 use that's where the benefit of the
24:59 candle's
25:00 end as we've seen all the machines in
25:03 the underground were powered by
25:04 compressed air and so a breeze might
25:07 blow through that could knock the candle
25:08 out or all the water that can come down
25:11 from the ceiling that might also land on
25:13 the candle put it out and once again we
25:15 are stuck in the dark so we are going to
25:18 need something that's a bit more durable
25:19 and a bit more powerful to work with to
25:21 see underground and that something was
25:24 the carbide lamp which you probably
25:27 can't see at all right now now but once
25:28 it gets going I think you will the way
25:30 the carbide lamps work is in this bottom
25:32 chamber a mineral called calcium carbide
25:35 will go in and in this top part a
25:37 chemical called water goes in the water
25:39 drips onto the carbide the two react and
25:42 they produce acetylene gas the same gas
25:44 that's used in welders torches and once
25:46 you got the gas all you need is a spark
25:49 and so we'll get our water out put some
25:52 in the
25:54 top let the gas f
25:58 and then all we need to do is Strike it
26:02 and we have a light we don't need a
26:10 candle these carbide lights were pretty
26:10 popular amongst the miners with this
26:12 reflective disc I can aim the light so I
26:14 can see what's going on down there I can
26:17 see you guys in front of me so much
26:28 better all right we take our heart hats
26:28 off so far so good definitely a pretty
26:32 amazing experience here dump these
26:44 in they did not blow the whistle at the
26:44 start of the midnight shift for reasons
26:46 that will become obvious in a few
26:47 seconds if anything went wrong in the
26:49 underground they would blow the whistle
26:51 three times so let people in the towns
26:53 know that emergency crews need to be
26:55 organized as someone might be injured
26:57 fortunately none of us are so we're only
27:00 going to have to blow it once this is by
27:02 far the loudest noise you're going to
27:03 hear today so please have your ears
27:05 covered we'll count down from three once
27:07 we get to one I think you know the
27:15 drill cover my ears and holding the
27:15 camera at this all right we all ready
27:18 yeah whistles going in three two
27:26 one did you oh
27:30 loud and it echoes and it echoes and it
27:35 echoes well we made it out of our
27:37 experience with the m highly recommend
27:39 this tour we're going into Mill number
27:41 three now this is what it used to look
27:44 like this is Mill 3 mil 2 was over here
27:48 this is MIL 3 mil one was where we
27:50 boarded the train over here we're about
27:52 to watch a special effect show called
27:54 boom there's a lot more to this uh
27:56 experience
27:58 that I expected when we first got here
28:01 it is a National Historic
28:05 Site it's also not no longer an active
28:07 mill
29:55 everybody
29:55 okay all right definitely file that one
29:58 for for me anyway under much better than
30:01 I expected it to be that was absolutely
30:04 fantastic quite the tour guide quite the
30:07 presentation got to see a lot of amazing
30:11 things reasonably priced in my
30:14 opinion man that was
30:17 good and this place closed when I was 3
30:21 months old closed in November I was born
30:23 in August of 1974
30:29 the show was great they were talking
30:30 about you know they had some of the
30:32 quotes from some of the locals that when
30:34 this place went dark and closed down the
30:36 sounds the whole town sounded so quiet
30:39 it was very eerie and depressing and sad
30:42 because of you know people had
30:43 generations of people that worked here
30:45 and they knew when the sounds and the
30:47 noises were happening that the town was
30:49 thriving but this place has been closed
30:52 for well over 50 years and it's now a
30:55 National Historic Site so if you're ever
30:58 in
31:00 Vancouver and you go up to do
31:03 the the gondola
31:05 ride this is really close it's only
31:07 maybe 20 minutes away from
31:31 all right got to head out now and go
31:31 over to a place called Porto
31:34 Cove might see some sea lions heard
31:36 there might be some sea
31:39 lions see what happens it's on the way
31:41 back to Vancouver I took a little bit of
31:43 a commute down the
31:45 shore really got some beautiful views
31:49 here along this little section
32:00 I can hear them dude I can already hear
32:00 them from here Porto
32:03 Cove I can hear the seals nice they're
32:08 loud oh
32:15 yeah so you met a family back they did
32:15 the tour they are local to British
32:18 British
32:19 Columbia I think they said they live a
32:21 couple hours away and they gave us a
32:24 little tip said come over here check out
32:27 the seals so shout out to them nice
32:30 meeting them and appreciate them letting
32:32 us know about the seals to come over
32:34 to the provincial marine park at Porto
32:39 Cove if you ever come here make sure you
32:41 do not double
32:49 Park oh man I haven't seen seals since
32:49 San
32:56 Francisco it's also sea liines and
32:56 seals in La Hoya Beach California oh
32:59 there's like a little Overlook tower
33:01 that pops up up there you get some some
33:03 good photos on that is
33:06 awesome look at this
33:22 place man there's a bunch of them over
33:53 look at all the birds down there in the
33:53 water too
34:54 I hear a
34:54 train see if I can run over there and
34:56 catch it
34:58 how to survive in the open water be
35:00 transparent
35:02 sting be stream and be fast and
35:05 streamlined or just be big
36:06 little short train it's only two
36:06 connections the front portion and the
36:13 Caboose there it
36:18 goes very beautiful out here very
36:18 beautiful in
36:20 Scenic oh here check this out the wreck
36:24 and
36:25 reefs a Porto Cove
36:28 Tire Reef block
36:31 Reef The Dread The Dredge C tender
36:35 Centennial
36:37 3 the bow of the grant Hall which Now
36:40 lies just north of the block Reef back
36:42 from
36:44 1992
