0:13 welcome everyone I'm at the old Iverson
0:13 Movie Ranch here in Southern California
0:15 if you watched old Cals or old TV
0:18 westerns from the 1940s 1950s and 1960s
0:23 chances are you have seen a lot of these
0:25 rocks these thousands and thousands of
0:27 rocks that are spread out over acres and
0:30 acres and Acres from the former Movie
0:32 Ranch it is now grown up with condos
0:35 houses and developments but there are a
0:38 lot of remnants of a bygone era of
0:41 Innocence a western era if you will and
0:45 I want to show you what remains out here
0:46 join me shall you
1:18 okay this is a prime spot where
1:18 rattlesnakes probably would hang out not
1:20 too happy about this little area got to
1:23 get up there though
1:34 now we could spend hours and hours out
1:34 here hunting down old movie and
1:36 television spots but I wanted to focus
1:37 on a few key awesome tidbits that I
1:40 found very interesting let's go find
1:43 them come on don't just stand there come
1:45 with
1:57 me do you remember Zoro the mark of the
1:57 Z well in 1944 Zoro zoro's black whip
2:01 came out zoro's horse tornado actually
2:04 came out of what they called the zoro's
2:07 mine where is that zoro's mine right
2:11 over
2:21 there
2:21 right up there of course after all these
2:25 years the cave does not look like it did
2:29 during the show but there are some
2:32 remnants of what
2:40 remains just look at all this this is
2:40 incredible that after decades and
2:42 decades and decades the cave was built
2:45 right
2:58 here here's this mesh that has left here
2:58 so many years later
3:01 that is awesome and of course you can
3:04 see
3:05 here that's where the
3:08 wall was built for the mine cave
3:11 entrance would have started here come
3:14 way out creating the false door of the
3:18 mine that led right into this
3:22 rock that is awesome check this out
3:26 here's an actual rock and here's part of
3:28 the formation look at this that is not
3:31 part of an actual rock look this is a
3:35 facade that's mounted right up against
3:38 there all these years later still here
3:41 the mesh is still there and this is a
3:43 piece of Hollywood
3:46 history from the late 40s
4:07 in 1965 Burgess Meredith killing white
4:07 truck K it hits appeared in an episode
4:10 of a television show The Loner and they
4:13 actually carved in the side of the rock
4:17 something that is here to this day that
4:19 was used for one shot in that particular
4:22 episode it's right over there things
4:25 have definitely changed since the old
4:27 days of television and movie production
4:30 you would never see a production company
4:32 today leave remnants of what they
4:34 actually created but the same could not
4:37 be said for this in carving in The Rock
4:42 still here 50 years after it was carved
4:46 by the television
4:48 show that is awesome don't make it hard
4:52 for me cedri the way the plot of the
4:54 show went is there were two friends when
4:55 they were children and as they were
4:57 young they carved their names right in
5:00 here we carved our names up here
5:02 together we come up here with no bigger
5:04 than this and then later on in the show
5:06 when the one man was hunting down the
5:08 other one no one could find him except
5:10 his friend he knew the secret
5:13 spot and that secret spot Still Remains
5:18 then they're going to put me in a cage
5:19 you said you'd kill me before you'd let
5:21 that
5:29 happen looking at that tree I must say
5:29 in my my non-expert opinion that looks
5:32 like a tree that has been used in a lot
5:34 of westerns pretty sure that that tree
5:38 and this tree were
5:41 documented on some TV shows what do you
5:43 guys think yay or nay look at all these
5:47 carvings these little nooks and crannies
5:49 if you will that are actually all along
5:52 the side of the
5:54 tree right now I'm not paying attention
5:56 to the history I'm paying attention to
5:59 that at ant with wings and ant with
6:19 wings the thing that's interesting is
6:19 all this history lies just over the
6:21 horizon from Main thorough faar's
6:23 freeways homes and
6:25 businesses lots of houses out
6:28 here ah ah the
6:31 future
6:33 and the past in 1941 there was a cereal
6:37 no not the cereal that you eat with milk
6:40 but a series of television shows called
6:43 a cereal The Adventures of Captain
6:46 Marvel and in chapter 12 one of the
6:48 scenes was filmed right here the car
6:53 would have sped directly towards us
6:55 right down what looked to appear to be a
6:57 road but in reality it was not a road it
7:01 was made to look like a bridge of some
7:04 sort and the bridge of
7:06 rocks still remain and the shot looks
7:12 very similar as it
7:13 does in the early 1940s take a look at
7:17 that now
7:18 that is awesome including that rock
7:22 right up there Still Remains as well as
7:26 those
7:37 just chilling in the
7:37 shade just chilling there Mr
7:40 Owl just
7:42 chilling just chilling there in the
7:45 shade Mr
7:56 Owl if you make the track out here make
7:56 sure you bring plenty of H2O
8:00 you need to stay
8:03 hydrated back in 1935 there was an aess
8:06 celebrity Western Star by the name of
8:08 Tom Mix and right here on this rock in
8:11 that year for the show The Miracle riter
8:13 he actually climbed down the side of
8:16 this rock and you can actually see the
8:19 Engravings they place for his boot marks
8:23 right up there the boot engraving so
8:26 that he would not slide down doing the
8:28 stunt are still there there's the first
8:32 one and there's the second one 1935
8:36 history right here on the side of this
8:39 little
8:40 Boulder o this is really steep oh got to
8:44 get down here got to climb down here I
8:46 got to climb

9:44 interesting oh Western tree you were
9:48 used in so many Western shows and movies
9:53 at least that's what I'm led to
9:57 believe West turn
10:01 tree here is obviously something that
10:03 was built for a television show pieces
10:07 of cement and concrete and
