0:17 not really anything current-day to
0:17 designate why this is here but
0:20 nonetheless an incredible relic movies
0:26 welcome everyone Adam as the whoo here
0:28 I've just crossed over the state line
0:31 into Texas taking the roads less
0:35 traveled as I dive deep into Americana
0:40 small-town life
0:42 and some of the areas that are generally
0:44 passed over by heavy traffic
0:47 no theme parks no major attractions just
0:52 a breath of fresh air as I go across the
0:56 US of A I'm inviting you to join me
0:59 shall you now there is a lot of ground
1:02 to cover in fact the Atlas takes up two
1:06 pages of maps the route that I will be
1:11 meandering through started right up here
1:14 in the far northern eastern portion and
1:18 just gonna make my way kind of hugging
1:23 the line through these sections and then
1:28 ending up somewhere right up here
1:39 give or take first little community I'm
1:39 pulling over at is New Boston good to
1:42 see the old theater still being utilized
1:44 as a shop church steeple in the distance
1:47 and a horse up in the air see it there
1:52 in the middle this is seeing some years
1:55 the logo has changed just a little bit
1:58 over time noticing around the back just
2:04 one sided not the most common looking
2:08 water tower the bulbous portion at the
2:10 top a little smaller kind of kind of
2:13 reminds me of like a radio signal
2:20 mechanism of some sort I think it's
2:20 water tower someone utilizing their burn
2:23 barrels over there discarding some trash
2:40 it's a heavy piece of machinery turning
2:40 at the intersection
2:41 it's a downtown DeKalb storefront to the
2:47 right still has where the signage used
2:51 to be that metal piece and over the
2:54 window are some wooden shingles that's
2:58 different the view is partially blocked
3:00 by the power lines that the State
3:03 Theater is impressive
3:05 for one reason or another the wording is
3:07 spray-painted on the brick as well the
3:11 awning is still completely intact gotta
3:16 love this
3:38 no name up topic this is the town of
3:41 Avery nice perspective with the barn
3:44 underneath the tower and random porta
3:48 potti to the right
4:04 see them up there looming down to
4:04 buzzards there's no money in that bank
4:10 anymore fellas yeah get going
4:11 skedaddle
4:32 dry goods and general merchandise here
4:35 at the pharmacy that rusted out piece
4:39 there hanging on the wall
5:26 that's a male carrying vehicle there the
5:27 Jeep that's parked
5:33 non-traditional
5:46 someone's placed in an outhouse in their
5:46 field
6:08 the town square of Clarksville with an
6:08 active RadioShack
6:32 used to be a five and ten the building
6:32 is still in use as an antique store by
6:36 appointment only
6:50 continued on just a bit too little Motor
6:50 City I'm in Detroit Texas the main strip
6:58 over in the distance what the heck is
7:02 this huh
7:29 the blossom water tower in that
7:29 direction and hardware store located on
7:34 the corner of front and center street
7:37 as commuters going by on the next little
7:40 Street over but this road not too busy
7:45 whoa
7:56 what are they run into happy kids happy
7:56 to see someone out here how's it going
7:59 oh you're not gonna you're not gonna
8:02 stop and talk okay that was enough Honey
8:09 Grove cobblestone streets and all x2
8:17 antiques a unique junk the Sharpe
8:21 brothers opened their business back in
8:24 1937 over to the right the side entrance
8:30 of the village Club know what that is in
8:36 order to find out you have to step
8:37 through these wooden doors which
8:40 undoubtedly could tail some tiles
8:44 they've got some age on them
9:09 and of course I'm obviously drawn into
9:09 that side
9:29 original bank building located next to
9:29 these grain shafts and underneath the
9:31 water tower City Hall states established
9:35 1870 post office just adjacent
10:17 you have warm cookies I like cookies
10:17 population of 243 that's amazing and
10:30 thank you for the cookies I got a sugar
10:31 cookie chocolate chip folks in that shop
10:36 and diner next to the post office were
10:38 very tired continuing on
11:28 a plethora of muffler meant just hanging
11:29 out here next to the thoroughfare for
11:31 all to see any passerby errs dang this
11:45 is awesome
12:01 can't forget about the caf it's tied up
12:01 to her shoe and that rope
12:32 these cows are staring at me you're
12:32 looking at me or the big statues that
12:36 are behind me could be one of the two
12:40 standing very tall nearly as high as
12:43 that tree beside him were the building
12:46 behind them
13:02 All Right see you later partners a
13:02 little pull-off here with picnic tables
13:05 directly under oil rigs and another
13:10 emblem of the state itself similar to
13:13 the one I saw this morning fun crossing
13:18 the line
13:24 not a full rest off there are no
13:24 facilities available something's
13:29 happening
13:29 little digging taking place in the
13:31 median over there st. Joe where the
13:38 Chisholm Trail cuts the California Road
13:40 next to the Chamber of Commerce is a
13:42 cowboy Depot and a couple of really cool
13:45 looking hotels
13:48 reading the plaque this was the first
13:50 building in town 1930 the Stonewall
13:54 saloon get a pretty good perspective how
13:58 large this painting is this
13:59 advertisement they saw the door to the
14:02 left of it all the way down at the end
14:09 that windmill is turning at a rapid pace
14:19 well not too rapidly semi rapid it's got
14:19 a nice little vibe to a very quaint
14:26 even a little movie theater and the bank
14:26 there on the end
14:30 you
14:45 Henriette is the county seat of Clay
14:45 County and then the square is the
14:48 courthouse and this is the downtown
14:52 section
15:25 this is a toughy be very difficult to
15:25 figure out we faded seeing lunch up
15:30 there I see the you the end the C and
15:32 the H and then in front of the you looks
15:35 to be an L so we got lunch and then
15:41 above that word is yet another one which
15:44 might have an R and a u in it
15:51 it's tough
16:01 say goodbye to the Sun it is setting and
16:01 as nightfall begins to rear its head
16:04 ended up in Oakley Union Texas that is
16:16 and across this field more of those very
