0:03 welcome everyone adam the woo here
0:03 today's adventure begins on what was an
0:05 overcast but now
0:06 the sun is starting to rear its head
0:08 pigeon forge tennessee
0:10 where i will be departing along with
0:13 my mother who will be taking the road
0:14 trip down to orlando florida starting
0:16 this evening will take us about two days
0:18 we'll make it about halfway down that
0:20 tenure but before that
0:22 just kind of seeing some sights around
0:24 town until
0:25 noon where we're going to be going in
0:27 and around
0:28 the smoky mountains on a pink jeep
0:32 tour that we have a reservation for at
0:35 noon we were not able to get a
0:36 reservation for dollywood
0:38 in the last day or so we were going to
0:40 stay throughout the course of the
0:41 weekend however
0:42 hotels are very pricey it is difficult
0:45 to even
0:46 find one under 300 250 to 300
0:50 is the standard even for a minimum
0:53 type of establishment to to lay your
0:56 head which is
0:57 a little more than normal it is very
0:59 busy here in gatlinburg pigeon forge
1:02 sevierville area it's gonna be a fun day
1:06 nonetheless i'm inviting you to join me
1:09 for the pink jeep tour after we do a
1:11 couple other things shall you
1:13 oh hello there goat getting a little
1:17 a little snack smile you're
1:20 on goat tv you'll notice up on the roof
1:25 is a goat it's where this place gets its
1:28 name
1:29 goats on the roof oh there's a bunch
1:33 up that's goats are on the roof and my
1:36 mom
1:37 is on the ground
1:40 quite a few of them up there congregated
1:54 there
1:54 that is a rather large
1:58 chicken
2:02 total price for two people was 134
2:04 dollars with taxes and fees 20. or 60
2:08 i should say a person times two and then
2:10 you know add on the
2:12 the taxes and whatnot there are three or
2:14 four different tours
2:15 what we are doing is called the valley
2:18 valleys and
2:19 views and that was the only one that was
2:21 available so that's the one we chose the
2:23 other ones were completely booked up and
2:25 sold out during this very busy time
2:27 around here
2:28 a little more info there are four
2:30 different tours so we're doing the one
2:32 there on the top
2:33 corner uh the valleys and views as i
2:36 stated we're about to head out shortly
2:38 you know and then the other family can
2:40 get on there
2:40 okay we'll take this one here we got the
2:42 got the belts get
2:43 better pictures cause some places will
2:45 stop and won't get out
2:46 but you take pictures out the windows
2:48 right you get cold we got a heater under
2:50 there then i can turn onto the help
2:58 we're 90 inches of rain a year here the
2:58 only other place in the whole country
3:00 that gets more rain than we do
3:02 is out in oregon and califor washington
3:07 and lately they haven't been getting
3:08 that money we've been getting it all in
3:10 florida
3:11 yeah we've been getting a lot of rain
3:13 well we're 20 inches above normal and
3:15 got
3:15 a little over two months to go so this
3:19 year it's going to be around 110 to 120
3:21 inches
3:22 there even during the summer it's about
3:24 10 to 15 degrees colder up there than it
3:26 is here
3:32 how high are we going up we'll wind up
3:32 where we're going the last place we go
3:34 about 3 000 feet above sea level
3:36 about 800 square miles back from the
3:39 farmers and the pioneers
3:41 400 square miles of it is in east
3:43 tennessee and 400 square miles
3:46 in north carolina so they bought it all
3:49 back
3:49 in 1932 they declared it a national park
3:53 any of the trees that were bigger than
3:54 that and that
3:57 they cut down when they logged them we
4:00 actually had a couple of trees up here
4:03 that was as big as the redwoods
4:05 out in california today tomorrow and
4:08 sunday out here
4:09 when we get to worse valley
4:12 we're having a fall festival so when we
4:16 get about
4:17 a mile and a half we're gonna get slowed
4:19 down a little bit and we get through
4:21 where the fall vegetables at because the
4:23 traffic's backed up
4:24 because of the traffic but it's too late
4:27 they forgot about
4:28 the fall festival traffic and it already
4:32 looked mature
4:33 we had 43 pancake places in pigeon forge
4:36 of gatlinburg
4:39 that's not counting the ones out here
4:40 anywhere in ballot
4:45 here in the united we have a lot of
4:45 different events up here
4:47 the second week is the most annoying car
4:50 show weekend that they have up here
4:52 with the fast and furious cars
4:56 when you get a hundred hundreds and
4:58 hundreds and hundreds of them up here
5:00 and they all like to line up in a row
5:02 and follow each other around it sounds
5:05 like a thousand wheat eaters driving
5:07 down the road
5:56 still get your full tour i just gotta
5:56 figure my way to get out of here
6:09 anybody got a wife or a signal on their
6:09 phone
6:15 and get see if it will give you
6:15 directions to it
6:30 this was the reason for the rerouting
6:30 look at all these cars
7:07 holding onto the dashboard won't look to
7:08 the left won't look to the right
7:10 and telling me what's that what's that
7:12 curve what's that tree what's
7:14 that just constantly so two weeks ago
7:17 she asked me can you take me to the
7:18 roaring forks motor trail i promise i
7:20 won't say nothing about the road
7:22 i said only if you roll your window down
7:25 and you look out your side and watch for
7:27 a bear
7:28 so she did and a half
7:31 mile end of the road there was a bear
7:35 and that's when she screamed oh my god
7:37 there's a bear
7:39 and she still hasn't got a picture on
7:41 her phone of a bear on her own phone
7:45 till this week and i took her back up
7:47 there and she finally kept quiet and
7:49 looked out the window and she got a
7:51 picture of a big black bear
8:08 drivers telling stories his girlfriend
8:08 their first bear experience
8:23 i'm gonna stop on this bridge and let
8:23 you take a few pictures of the river if
8:24 you
8:41 you go there early the next day people
8:41 have left everything
8:42 there's the shoes closed just you can
8:46 find anything there
8:51 there'll be another river comes down
8:51 another mountain that connects with this
8:53 one and they combine to make the little
8:55 river
8:56 and like i said they'll all connect
8:59 eventually and that water
9:00 winds up down in the gulf of mexico in a
9:02 couple of weeks
9:05 but even if we were in the middle of
9:07 summer
9:08 and it was 95 degrees out that water
9:11 will barely ever make it above the
9:13 temperature of 50 degrees
9:15 so down here on the bathroom this curve
9:18 is the sinks and hopefully there'll be a
9:20 parking
9:20 spot to pull into
9:29 now people uh canoe down that river too
9:29 what do they call that white water
9:46 three miles of hiking there's a
9:46 waterfall back there
9:49 i know where the waterfall is as you can
9:51 see from the road
9:53 wow they kayak down this yeah
9:56 it's amazing what we're gonna go see
10:00 after we live here
10:01 it's down in townsend and you can see
10:03 this engine oh
10:04 we're going to see the shrine yeah
10:10 so they used to they used to haul the
10:10 timber on this they used to
10:12 pull the timber with this this is down
10:15 there by the train
10:17 but it's i don't think it has the wheels
10:19 under it anymore
10:20 but this is after the logging community
10:22 shut down
10:24 there's a place up in the mountains
10:25 called elk mont that they built for the
10:28 loggers for home after they shut down
10:30 all the logging homes
10:32 they made it into a vacation spot for
10:34 people to go so that's where the train
10:36 was then taking them
10:38 up to the mountain for vacation
10:41 okay so these are all people going on
10:42 vacation yep
10:44 and they stopped right there and that's
10:46 where the train would stop and let them
10:48 get out and look at oh so this bridge
10:50 was the old train track yeah
10:51 oh okay that whole road was the train
10:55 track
10:56 they just removed the tracks and put the
10:58 road in okay
11:01 and snapping 10 feet tight back three
11:04 miles to the waterfall
11:06 now a couple well they'll probably be
11:08 right back down sometimes they go up
11:10 just to see some of the people go up
11:12 there and if you want to walk up
11:36 because of how busy this area is that
11:36 had to reroute the the path we were
11:38 going and
11:39 there was no cell phone signal got a
11:41 little misconstrued on directions so
11:43 thankfully
11:44 a gentleman that was riding and you know
11:46 riding in the car as well had
11:48 had a a bar or two could tell him which
11:50 way to go
11:51 got back on track and now the tour is
11:54 continuing
11:56 it's a little brisk i should have
11:57 probably worn a jacket when you're
11:58 cruising along it
11:59 if it's not too much speed it's not too
12:02 bad but when you're going going fast
12:03 with that wind
12:04 it's a little chilly in that thing about
12:08 911
12:24 most people come down through here and
12:24 drive right by it don't even know that's
12:27 they go down there and they hike three
12:28 miles back to it
12:30 between they can just cross the river
12:32 here on the rocks more right back
13:01 we got interviewed on this tour
13:01 yesterday on tv oh yeah
13:04 yeah the people were from where were
13:06 they from
13:07 michigan and they didn't like it the guy
13:09 put the camera up and said you're on
13:11 live tv now
13:13 and they got so embarrassed
13:16 this train because it had to go up down
13:18 steep inclines
13:20 all all every single wheel on it had to
13:23 pull
13:29 but they come down through here they're
13:29 not from here and they just don't
13:30 realize how sharp the birds are
13:38 it's a little harder for uh bass and
13:38 catfish to live in them
13:40 because it being so cold and so
13:43 shallow a lot right there is a popular
13:47 swimming area when it's warm outside
13:51 where the river blue river is clean but
13:53 you see the river come down over here
14:00 so there's the old train that you go up
14:00 and down
14:12 several weeks ago and the name of the
14:12 train
14:14 before they painted it there was a said
14:16 dorothy on the side of it
14:18 but then this was the crane that
14:20 followed it up put the logs on it
14:23 let's see how the wheels are on the
14:25 train every one of them
14:27 had to pull
14:48 because of all the traffic that was
14:48 backed up over there
14:50 so you're actually going to get to see a
14:52 little bit more of the foothills this
14:53 direction than you would the other
14:59 that way made through the smoky
14:59 mountains to connect
15:01 uh east tennessee with north carolina
15:04 without having to go through pigeon
15:06 forge or gatlinburg
15:08 and they actually started building the
15:10 four sections
15:11 back in 1920
15:17 but they've only completed three
15:17 sections
15:18 so far this section right here that
15:21 we're on
15:22 was just completed a couple of years ago
15:25 and it took
15:26 37 years to complete it
15:51 we had missed out all that traffic
15:51 on the way back they ain't no way i
15:53 can't miss it
15:56 but i don't have another tour till four
15:58 o'clock so it's okay and y'all we're not
16:00 late
16:01 we're late i don't care i want y'all to
16:03 get y'all's
16:05 cold tour in
16:37 what do you think
16:37 it's about another mile down from it the
16:39 train is that we were at
16:42 the train's way down there
16:49 now y'all know why the mountains look
16:49 blue
16:50 or even pigeon forged in gatlinburg with
16:52 all the city lights
16:54 you can't see stars very good at night
16:58 up here you can see millions of them
17:15 if we get down here and don't get in any
17:15 more traffic it's going to take about 20
17:17 more minutes
17:19 but if we get down there and get stuck
17:21 in traffic they actually ought to do
17:23 this
17:23 like they do a few pound gap when you
17:27 get up to new times down gas they have
17:29 bathrooms up there
17:31 they ought to put some bathrooms at a
17:33 couple of these top
17:35 for some reason and i can't answer why
17:39 when they built these bridges they had
17:41 to build them from the top down instead
17:43 of from the bottom up
17:46 so here's a pretty decent view
17:53 right there i got the lights on and if
17:53 you need to unbuckle
18:47 that's incredible you just don't want to
18:47 jump out over the bridge
19:07 so do you have a rental car here that
19:09 you got to drive back to knoxville
19:11 no no we're going back and forth my
