0:21 Today's adventure begins as the
0:21 recording of this Wednesday, October
0:24 22nd,
0:26 2025,
0:28 here on the balcony.
0:30 of the self-proclaimed BTTF
0:34 HQ.
0:36 Back to the future headquarters
0:39 for the next series of days. Going to
0:41 pepper or maybe even more than pepper in
0:46 some stuff from the films.
0:49 It's the 40th anniversary.
0:53 staying with a group of friends here at
0:55 this house,
0:57 the greater LA area.
1:01 We're going to kick it off today by
1:02 meeting up with a bunch of others and
1:04 seeing and doing some wonderful things.
1:08 Piping hot caffeinated beverage here.
1:13 It is feels good up. Welcome everyone.
1:16 Adam the Woo here. Didn't get a lot of
1:18 sleep last night. Stayed up late
1:20 catching up with the guys. Got up early
1:22 about to kick the day off. This is my
1:25 before coffee
1:28 and pre-caffeine.
1:30 Well, before coffee, pre- caffeine and
1:32 not a full night of sleep face. But as
1:35 the day goes on, the caffeine will be
1:37 flowing. I'm inviting you to join me.
1:39 Let's have a day, shall we? All right,
1:43 we're in LA traffic now in route to the
1:46 first of many stops.
1:49 slow going, but it's clearing up a
1:50 little bit.
1:53 I'm in the back seat. We got a truckload
1:55 of people.
1:57 Okay, we've arrived where the dance
2:00 auditions were for the pin heads.
2:04 Michael J. Fox playing Marty McFly was
2:06 auditioning. Huie Lewis
2:09 had the bullhorn meeting up with a big
2:12 group of people over here. The Cambridge
2:15 Park Rec Center.
2:53 Where was he? Huie was right here at
2:53 center court, right?
2:54 >> I'm afraid you're just too darn loud.
2:57 >> Where the pin heads do that?
3:06 >> Jennifer Parker was standing right over
3:06 here admiring her boyfriend.
3:26 Fun fact, the bass player in the pin
3:26 heads was the guitar teacher for Michael
3:29 J. Fox
3:31 for the film.
4:17 Thank you,
4:17 >> Eric. Brandon, you stay there. You get
4:19 over there.
4:20 >> That's a cool jacket there
4:22 patches here.
4:23 >> Yeah. From the Hill Valley Police
4:25 Department. Pretty cool.
4:26 >> Very nice.
4:27 >> Better off D. Here
4:28 >> on the back at the back side of that
4:30 road, there's a car wash over there.
4:31 >> Yeah. And the when the kid's hanging on
4:33 top of the station wagon screaming for
4:35 his $2
4:35 >> right over there.
4:37 >> No kidding.
4:37 >> All right, we're just cruising by the
4:39 Arnold's house from Wonder Years. We got
4:41 a got a little bit of a time crunch
4:44 right now, which I know is a little bit
4:46 ironic cuz we're doing some Back to
4:48 Future Time stuff, but that's the Wonder
4:50 Year's house. All right, moving on.
4:52 >> All right, Brandon. So, where are we?
4:54 >> So, this is uh Apex Electronics, a
4:56 surplus store, famous in the prop
4:59 building world. Um, but majority of the
5:03 time machine parts and pieces, the flux
5:04 capacitor pieces, all were pulled from
5:06 the shelves of this surplus store.
5:10 >> Yeah. I mean, uh,
5:14 get the clean up speed up there. All
5:16 right. Welcome everybody.
5:19 Um,
5:24 >> nice to thank Thank you for all Thank
5:24 you all for making it. Um, a little
5:26 history on our shop is we are a uh a
5:29 surplus store that was originated in the
5:32 late 1950s
5:34 and we helped a lot of the aerospace
5:36 businesses in the valley um basically
5:40 recycle all of their old material and in
5:43 doing so we had a lot of uh oneoff and
5:45 obscure pieces that they were planning
5:48 to store more and ultimately we expanded
5:50 and that became kind of a a larger
5:52 concept.
5:54 So during like the early stages of
5:56 Hollywood film in uh the 1960s and 70s
6:00 and 80s, a lot of movies would source
6:02 their parts from here. Um and at the
6:04 time we didn't even know it. They would
6:06 kind of just come and they would
6:07 disguise as pickers. But in the original
6:10 Back to the Future, Star Wars, Star
6:12 Trek, Ghostbusters,
6:14 uh 19 or 2001 of Space Odyssey, Air
6:17 Force One, a lot of those early big
6:20 Space Tech movies, the original Mad Max,
6:23 uh would basically be shopping for parts
6:26 in our store. And a lot of the stuff you
6:28 see in those original movies and
6:30 especially Back to the Future, um were
6:32 sourced from our store. So, it's a it's
6:35 a giant store. It's 10,000 square ft.
6:37 We've got about an acre outside and uh
6:39 it's kind of like a wonderland for for
6:41 that sort of aesthetic. And you can kind
6:44 of see from the ground up how uh the
6:46 decorators for some of these movies uh
6:48 were able to get creative and source
6:50 things that were otherwise used in jet
6:52 engines or um could be from machine
6:56 shops or nearby businesses. The studios
6:58 were then
6:59 >> yeah there are some parts that we that
7:01 we have as rental only.
7:03 >> They're more of like collectibles. You
7:05 can build your whole back end of your
7:06 Ecto1
7:08 >> with all this stuff
7:19 here.
7:19 >> Yeah,
7:21 >> totally.
7:28 >> We were just talking about this morning.
7:28 Brian Bonzel and Blink check was
7:32 Macintosh.
7:33 >> There you go. Stephen,
7:34 >> look at this.
7:37 >> This looks familiar.
7:39 Where have we seen this before?
7:40 >> This was in some movie.
7:42 >> I swear that looks familiar.
7:43 >> Johnny 5.
7:44 >> I was thinking short circuit kind of,
7:45 but it's like the hell arm, but not
7:46 really.
7:51 >> that does look familiar. Something like
7:54 that. Anyway,
7:55 >> yes.
8:31 >> Oh, doc.
8:31 Wait, what? What time is it? [laughter]
8:36 >> That means I'm late for school.
8:39 >> All right. What is this, Santa?
8:40 >> These go on the overhead array console.
8:41 So, that thing that's in the center that
8:43 has all the the lights on it has the
8:45 three three bands of lights. So,
8:47 >> you guys are converting your Delorean
8:48 into a time machine.
8:49 >> I am. I'm here to gather any real parts
8:51 that I possibly can.
8:54 >> We're being summoned. Wait, are you
8:56 shutting this? Are you shutting us in
8:57 here?
8:58 >> In there.
8:58 >> We're all going in the shut. We're going
9:00 to get shut in here.
9:03 >> It's war games in here.
9:04 >> It is, right? [laughter]
9:05 >> Star Wars.
9:06 >> It is war games.
9:08 >> Look at this.
9:09 >> Oh my god.
9:10 >> This is cool.
9:11 >> That is retro.
9:13 >> Wow. This is super cool.
9:14 >> Do you see all the stuff that look like
9:16 Star Wars? Like robot?
9:18 >> Yeah. Right out of the cantina.
9:20 >> R2.
9:21 >> Oh my gosh. D2.
9:24 >> Andrew, I want you to see a Ghostbusters
9:26 thing they have here. If you haven't
9:27 seen it, right?
9:28 >> Did you see it?
9:29 >> No.
9:30 >> Okay. I guess you can tell me.
9:33 >> Something in here is from Ghostbusters.
9:36 >> In the other room.
9:37 >> Oh, the other prototypes.
9:40 >> So, they made them for the movie,
9:42 >> but then they were too heavy to use, so
9:44 they just did something different.
9:46 >> Oh, really?
9:46 >> But you can put it on. It's like three
9:48 nitrogen tanks and a
9:51 >> a nuclear thing.
9:53 >> Okay. So, this is the event shirt.
9:55 >> Yeah.
9:56 >> Did you make that yourself or that was
9:57 from
9:58 >> Very cool.
9:58 >> Coming from Glasgow
10:00 >> in Scotland.
10:01 >> Okay. So, what year was the 1885? Was
10:04 that 2019 I met you there?
10:05 >> Uh 189 and 21 I think they were held.
10:13 >> It's been a while.
10:13 >> In the 18 2018 I think it was
10:15 >> pre2020 though. Yeah. Things have
10:17 changed a little bit.
10:18 >> So when they were designing the bridge
10:20 for the Enterprise original series, they
10:22 used this as
10:33 >> This is IG88's head.
10:33 >> Yeah. IG88, IG11 from the Mandalorian.
10:37 >> They also appear in the the Mos Eisley
10:39 cantina as lamps behind the bar. You can
10:42 see replicas of these at Galaxy's Edge
10:45 in the cantina behind the bar.
10:47 >> Just a small little camera there.
10:48 >> Oh, maybe it goes this way. Goes this
10:49 way.
10:51 >> Plugs into your VCR.
10:53 >> Yeah, you just drag along your VCR with
10:54 you into the
10:56 >> What about
10:58 Adam? The original, right, Steve? The
11:00 original Proton pack. Too heavy for the
11:02 actors to to wear.
11:05 >> This thing is heavy.
11:06 >> Yeah, that was ridiculously heavy.
11:09 >> Adam, you're going to put it on
11:10 >> here. Come here. I We just did it, man.
11:12 >> I'm not going to put it on. I think it's
11:13 100 lbs.
11:16 >> Just hold that. You can put it on. Get
11:19 your picture.
11:20 >> Oh,
11:22 no. I might need your help, right?
11:25 >> Oh, you're strong.
11:34 >> Don't cross the streams.
11:34 >> This side.
11:35 >> These are the weight that got to it.
11:36 >> You got it. [laughter]
11:37 >> Oh my gosh. You're going to break your
11:38 back.
11:39 >> I don't think so.
11:46 Ray Eag.
11:48 >> So,
11:48 >> how uncomfortable are you right now?
11:50 >> Oh, man. This How much this weighs,
11:52 Steve?
11:52 >> 80 to 100 lb.
11:55 >> This is totally from Commando right
11:57 here. [laughter]
11:58 >> We're falling down.
11:59 >> Let's go to Falling Down. Brian knows
12:01 you're falling down.
12:02 >> Venice Beach, guys.
12:03 >> I know you're on your own, but we're
12:04 going to head over.
12:05 >> That's amazing.
12:06 >> We're going to Earl Haze next.
12:08 >> I think we're going over there, too.
12:10 I'll tell you when.
12:10 >> All right, we drove a few miles. We're
12:12 now over corner of Cartwright and
12:15 Sherman Way
12:17 >> at a place called the Earl Hayes Press.
12:30 >> This is a real treat right here.
12:30 >> Kevin,
12:32 we'll we'll look at this stuff on the
12:33 way out.
12:43 Turbo.
12:43 >> Okay.
12:44 >> Is this LA?
12:47 >> Wow.
12:57 >> Look at that sports. So, they could
12:58 print me a new gray sports bag.
13:01 >> Is that what they're saying? How much is
13:03 it? Could I do one?
13:04 >> Awesome.
13:05 I'm going to ask
13:08 >> this is freaking right here.
13:14 >> Doc Brown committed. Doc Brown
13:14 commanded.
13:24 >> Wow. Look at that one.
13:24 >> Super. I've never ever seen that before.
13:25 >> I have never seen that before.
13:29 >> Oh, yeah. Him driving out of the
13:30 mansion. I know what you're talking
13:31 about. Yeah. I don't know where the spot
13:32 is.
13:33 >> Yeah. I've been working doing doing a
13:35 lot of work trying to find that
13:41 sports rules.
13:41 >> I was like this is where
14:05 I
14:05 >> never got my hands on this darn book.
14:07 >> Oh wow.
14:08 >> Never got my hands on
14:09 >> is useless now unless we get the time
14:11 machine working. Right.
14:12 >> My favorite part.
14:14 >> Do not build.
14:23 >> Under no circumstances anybody.
14:23 >> This is pretty sweet.
14:25 >> That's pretty sweet.
14:26 >> I saw those for 50 bucks.
14:27 >> I've never seen the back.
14:30 >> You want one?
14:31 That's pretty sweet right there.
14:34 >> Got some souvenirs for sale.
14:41 >> That's cool. 50 bucks for that, too.
14:41 >> They're all But yeah, I guess since I
14:43 mean we're here [laughter]
14:51 >> file,
14:51 >> so you obviously you can buy them anyway
14:52 in the world, but this is probably the
14:54 only place that
14:55 >> because they're the ones who originally
14:56 made it.
14:57 >> Exactly. Exactly.
14:59 Oh, Adam, we each get one of these, man.
15:01 You
15:01 >> get a little souvenir.
15:03 >> We each get one. I want to get one of
15:04 these.
15:09 >> And they made the license plates here
15:09 also for the movie.
15:11 >> So, that's why I'm like, well,
15:14 >> here. [laughter]
15:16 >> Have I got a couple of these already?
15:18 >> I'm just going to get everything. I
15:19 mean, we're here. I might as well get
15:21 one.
15:23 >> I felt it la.
15:25 >> We don't have the place the place where
15:26 it was made. Not only that, the out of
15:28 time plates. I have a million out of
15:30 time plates, but I don't have them from
15:31 the place that made the out of time
15:33 plates. So, I'm gonna probably pick one
15:34 of those up, if not two. Ooh la la.
15:37 >> Ooh la la.
15:38 >> Want to place any bets?
15:39 >> Those are made off the master.
15:40 >> Well, the century the century ended, so
15:42 we have to go all the way back.
15:45 >> We're finishing our time machine.
15:46 >> That's wild. This is the actual crust
15:48 that was made off.
15:50 >> You want that one, too?
15:52 >> Oh, that is cool.
15:52 >> Oh, it has the all the stickers.
15:54 >> It's already stickers on. You want me to
15:55 get
15:55 >> Is that 50 also? Was it 85?
15:58 >> 85. Okay.
16:00 >> so you're looking at printed off the
16:01 master
16:02 >> 150 and 85.
16:04 >> All right.
16:05 >> Which is it?
16:06 >> This is printed off the master one that
16:08 they used on the in the movie on
16:10 >> Yeah. You might need that then.
16:12 >> So, it's got all the stuff.
16:13 >> So, for $235, you can get all four
16:15 items.
16:17 >> Sorry. I
16:18 >> Well, I got to do this. You want
16:21 >> I mean, do you want
16:22 >> I mean, this is not going to go on my
16:24 car. Oh, I can use this to purchase
16:26 this.
16:26 >> There you go.
16:27 >> Thank you.
16:28 >> Anybody else want some cash? I got
16:30 >> Maniacs out.
16:31 >> Oh, look at this, dude.
16:33 >> Joan Wilder.
16:34 >> Oh, yeah. Yeah. Thank you. Great.
16:35 >> Romancing the Stone.
16:39 >> Richard.
16:41 >> Romancing the Stone. Julie
16:47 Ridge.
16:47 >> This is cool. So, they printed the book
16:49 >> from Romancing the Stone.
16:51 >> Yes.
16:52 >> 84. Man, that's cool.
16:54 >> Oh, there's two different ones. Yeah,
16:56 you got them both.
17:01 >> So, that'd be Jewel of the Nile.
17:01 >> Is that from Jewel of the Nile or was
17:02 that the same? I can't remember if there
17:04 were two books in romancing.
17:12 >> Yeah, this
17:12 >> Turbo Man cereal. [laughter]
17:17 >> That's right.
17:17 >> Come on.
17:18 >> Come on. Put the cookie down.
17:21 >> Yeah, we have to pay for that. What do
17:22 you
17:23 >> That's the masking sheet for the $100
17:25 bills with Yeah. With Biff on it. Yeah.
17:28 >> Wouldn't mind some of those.
17:31 >> Biff Bills.
17:33 >> Yeah. You think they still have the
17:34 prints?
17:35 >> Biff Bills. Look at that space balls.
17:38 >> Yes. And then up there, the cigarette
17:40 smoking man from the Xbox,
17:43 >> right? Cigarette smoking man.
17:44 >> I mean the I mean the cigarettes but not
17:46 the [laughter]
17:47 >> There is cigarette pack here. No biff on
17:50 the cigar
17:52 marbles in there.
17:53 >> No more biff it off and put it in.
17:55 >> No more. No more biff bucks.
17:57 >> No more biff bucks. No. Sorry about
17:58 that. But the original negatives are
18:00 >> Yeah, we
18:01 >> Yeah. Yeah. Sweet.
18:03 >> X Files and Back to the Future.
18:04 >> X Files. Back to the Future.
18:06 >> We have I'm buying all this. Then they
18:09 gave me this as a compliment
18:11 >> to get me uh get me hooked on
18:12 cigarettes.
18:14 >> And
18:16 yeah. Yeah. Line.
18:18 >> Yeah. arena.
18:19 >> I'm going have to watch it again.
18:21 >> No, this is from XFiles
18:22 >> in Back.
18:28 >> It's like um
18:29 >> Yeah. Yeah.
18:31 Everybody got one?
18:32 >> I'm sorry. Sorry.
18:33 >> Are you Are you messing with
18:35 Didn't Lorraine smoke these?
18:37 >> I think so. On the table, right?
18:39 >> Really?
18:40 >> So, Lorraine and
18:42 >> I think it's sitting there.
18:43 >> The smoking man from the X Files.
18:46 >> I want to show the name of the event.
18:49 from the future. This is Kevin. I have
18:51 known you since the the old uh
18:53 >> the forums.
18:54 >> The forum days, the the very toxic forum
18:57 days early 2000s. [laughter]
18:59 >> Yeah. Kevin here. So, explain the
19:00 explain what you're doing.
19:01 >> So, we're doing this is uh from the
19:03 future.events from the future events. Uh
19:06 we planned this six day sorry we planned
19:10 this six day long uh event. Uh every day
19:13 has a different thing. It's kind of
19:14 based a little bit on the We're going
19:16 back events that I also was a part of
19:17 before, but uh we want to do it for the
19:19 40th. We want to keep doing events uh in
19:22 the future either for anniversaries or
19:23 just for like, you know, special things
19:25 throughout the year. Earlier this year,
19:26 we helped the Whittier High School do
19:28 their uh open house tour thing. Uh we've
19:31 been doing stuff like that. So, yeah,
19:32 this is our biggest one we've done. It's
19:34 a whole week. So,
19:36 >> sounds cool. Check it out.
19:39 >> from the future.org.com.
19:42 >> Uh from the future.events. events.
19:43 >> Dot events.
19:44 >> Yeah, it's a little confusing. I think I
19:46 might change that. There you go.
19:47 >> We're in a route now up to an area near
19:48 Santa Clarita or in Santa Clarita. This
19:51 junkyard
19:53 and this overpass down there was used at
19:56 the ending, well, the beginning of the
19:58 film, but also the ending of Halloween
20:00 3.
20:02 The turn it off scene
20:05 was right inside this gas station right
20:12 thought maybe they had torn this down,
20:12 but no. This very vintage facade
20:16 of this gas station still exists.
20:29 And it is appropriate because it's not
20:29 too long to Halloween. Hey kids, it's
20:32 almost Halloween.
20:38 >> Yeah, it was a nighttime shot down
20:38 there.
20:44 Look at that underpass.
20:44 There's a couple junkyards along through
20:46 here, but I think this is the one there
20:47 was a a brief scene during,
20:50 but this is where in a panic Tom Atkins
20:53 runs up,
20:55 goes in a door that used to be right
20:57 over here.
21:03 Goes in and the TV's on. He's asking the
21:03 uh asking to grab He grabs the phone.
21:06 He's telling him to turn it off. Turn it
21:09 off.
21:11 Turn it off.
21:14 Bunch the people over at the junkyard
21:15 are always wondering why people over
21:16 here yelling turn it off.
21:31 >> This is in route to another spot from
21:31 Back to the Future. We're going to head
21:33 towards the Golden Oak, Disney's Golden
21:34 Oak Ranch, which is unaccessible, but
21:39 we'll see if we can get a peek in. All
21:41 right, we're now passing Golden Oak
21:43 Ranch. There's the archway. The Peabody
21:45 Barn is down there. Lots of Disney films
21:48 from back in the day film down there. As
21:50 far as new also new Disney films, always
21:53 wanted to get on that lot and see the
21:55 area where Peach Dragon was filmed.
21:58 Also, Big Top Peewee all down there.
