0:02 welcome everyone adam the woo here
0:02 current time
0:03 uh a few minutes shy of 8 a.m i am
0:07 beginning today's adventure at this
0:09 starbucks
0:10 uh my caramel brule i believe it is
0:14 called here in this holiday
0:16 cup this was an old bank
0:19 no it was an old daily news not really
0:22 sure why i said buying but old daily
0:24 news
0:25 old town orange i refer to it as the
0:27 orange circle some call it the orange
0:30 plaza i am just going to meander around
0:32 some of the blocks
0:33 enjoy a piping warm caffeinated beverage
0:41 oh yeah that's good filed this under
0:41 relaxing
0:42 video of the day as i just traverse
0:46 the streets orange california
0:50 meander around and there's already a
0:52 beehive of activity over there
0:55 those who are doing a little landscaping
0:57 a little
0:58 cleaning of where the fountain is
1:01 you can see see how it's all set up
1:05 the traffic is going around the loop
1:07 here and they still
1:10 based on regulations have it set up
1:12 where outdoor
1:14 dining is very prominent
1:17 and the thing
1:20 the signage all placed
1:32 you see it's very mellow this early
1:32 i like it nice
1:37 let's take a stroll i'm inviting you to
1:38 join me i figured because
1:41 you know doing a lot of theme parks this
1:43 month and
1:44 spoiler alert next month going to
1:46 florida walt disney world
1:47 will be very heavy on the disney theme
1:50 park
1:51 content i'm gonna end this year
1:54 on a good note with a lot of theme park
1:57 visits so
1:58 just this is a more mellow kind of
2:01 something to a little
2:02 to change the taste of the palette if
2:04 you will here
2:06 here and just kind of enjoy the day
2:09 inviting you to join me
2:16 shall you i always like to point this
2:16 out it's a little difficult to see under
2:18 the
2:19 under the shadow there but you can see
2:20 where it says owl
2:22 cigars painted on the side of those
2:25 bricks
2:27 very quaint little area
2:31 in the evening times it really the pace
2:34 picks up
2:35 a little bit you know these streets
2:37 could definitely
2:38 be seen very prominently in that thing
2:41 you do
2:43 when they first heard the song on the
2:44 radio they're running
2:47 past this store here and then they
2:49 continue
2:50 to a place called it's a place called
2:53 tiddlywinks now
2:54 and that's where the hardware store well
2:56 the appliance store was
2:58 down that way on the other side of
3:00 fountain and
3:02 all the workers there cleaning things up
3:05 you see the fountain there and the
3:07 coffee shop i just exited is
3:09 over there on the far corner there used
3:11 to be the same establishment
3:13 right here in this wells fargo bank but
3:16 they closed there were two starbucks one
3:18 at the wells fargo
3:19 and one over there but a couple years
3:21 ago they closed the second
3:24 of that franchise and as this guy leaps
3:27 over that chain and runs
3:29 towards my direction you will see the
3:30 fountain that is not the original orange
3:32 county fountain the other one i'll
3:34 walk a couple blocks i've showed this
3:35 before but it's worth reiterating
3:38 it's pretty interesting how they have
3:40 moved the fountains the original
3:41 fountains around
3:42 it's almost like a scavenger hunt of
3:44 sorts as i pass
3:46 watson's which was also prominently used
3:50 in a
3:50 number of feature films and commercials
3:55 near the antique coca-cola signage
3:58 it states some of those that were used
4:02 established in 1899
4:04 and showing it down there in the tom
4:06 hanks movie as well as the
4:09 the bench warmers i believe that's
4:10 schneider
4:12 talking to a lady out front oh and then
4:15 down here it said it was used
4:17 in gumball rally starring burt reynolds
4:20 among others president bush
4:24 even stopped off one stopped off here
4:27 for
4:28 a famous malt now that i did not know
4:33 if you listen closely you might be able
4:36 to hear
4:41 as the traffic goes by you might be able
4:41 to hear the orange county parrots
4:44 up in the trees there
4:50 as the bus goes by there's also a lot of
4:50 historic homes i'm going to show a few
4:53 around these parts that are very
4:54 pleasing to the eye
4:56 yeah the parents are hard to hear with
4:58 the traffic going by
4:59 out front of this little convention
5:02 center
5:03 where bicycles skateboards are
5:06 prohibited
5:09 is a signage that is a slightly
5:12 incorrect
5:13 based on what a gentleman who is a local
5:15 told me
5:16 a few months ago when i was pointing out
5:19 he had seen some of my videos how i
5:22 always stated
5:23 that this was the original plaza
5:26 fountain
5:27 which would have been at the circle now
5:29 that was moved here
5:30 however i was incorrect in my assumption
5:34 the original fountain is not this one
5:36 nor is it the one
5:38 down the way the original fountain is
5:40 right over there
5:41 you can kind of see it peeking around
5:43 the side of that building oh yeah
5:45 listen hear them
5:50 they're very faint but they're i don't
5:53 think they're in those trees
5:56 you can kind of hear them they've
5:58 they've slowed down on their
6:00 squawking this is
6:03 this is the original fountain that used
6:04 to be in in front oh they're making
6:06 noise again yeah they're up there
6:08 oh there they go looking for parrots
6:12 yeah have you been down to heart park
6:14 heart park where they are
6:16 that's where they're at they roosted
6:17 heart park oh okay cool i'll walk over
6:18 there
6:19 thank you
6:28 that guy just told me that they roost at
6:28 heart park
6:29 i know at the circle you can hear him a
6:32 lot
6:37 yeah they're up there there goes there
6:37 goes three of them
6:48 there it is i would not have known this
6:52 fact
6:53 if someone would would not have told me
6:55 i would have just gone off that placard
6:57 which is incorrect because it states
7:00 here
7:01 on another information area
7:25 gotta walk just about a block over
7:25 passing these
7:26 very nice homes homes not
7:30 homes homes h-o-m-e-s
7:36 always reminds me of south pasadena the
7:38 architecture of some of the buildings
7:41 very similar to south pass around here
7:45 even though this is orange county i
7:47 really enjoy the the look of this
7:49 brooklyn
7:50 here on the corner of center and maple
7:54 and by shifting this way just a bit up
7:57 on the corner past these hedges is a
7:59 filming location
8:01 from the movie big mama's house
8:05 and you guessed it it is the house it is
8:07 the facade the exterior
8:11 seen in that movie right up here at the
8:14 end of the sidewalk
8:16 there is a crow right there strutting
8:19 its stuff there going up up up it's
8:22 getting a little snack there and the
8:25 puddle
8:26 this is it
8:40 sprinklers are on
8:40 big mama's house i can't see why
8:45 they utilize this because it is is very
8:48 impressive looking and it was not only
8:50 this home
8:51 but also a couple others around these
8:54 parts in fact this one right across the
8:56 way can be seen prominently
8:57 on more than one occasion through the
8:59 course of that film
9:01 so this one and this one
9:06 and that martin lawrence comedy
9:13 camera okay there it's stabilizing it it
9:13 almost looked like it was shifted
9:16 camera was confused for a moment it is
9:18 very beautiful through here oh a
9:23 dog there
9:30 yeah some of these homes are really
9:30 really amazing
9:37 i always thought it'd be neat to own a
9:39 home down here
9:40 it probably never happened but it's fun
9:43 to think about
9:45 this almost reminds me of the
9:47 architecture you'd see in
9:49 you know a salad southern cal state not
9:51 a salad california southern california
9:54 fast food establishment the original
9:56 buildings of taco bell
9:57 kind of resembled this with the
9:59 brickwork and the roof line
10:01 for the cactus out front i point this
10:03 out because
10:04 it's neighbor is a home that has a lot
10:08 of
10:08 historical significance this this right
10:12 it's been here for many many years
10:14 restored back to how it looked
10:16 circa 1910 it's the ainsworth
10:20 historical house louis and persis
10:23 ainsworth resided here
10:27 well lewis lived from 29 1829 to 1914
10:31 him and his wife
10:33 chose the city of orange as their home
10:34 in 1901
10:36 they raised their three sons louis frank
10:38 mitt and two daughters
10:40 eva and ena right here in this
10:43 very place the restoration of this house
10:46 was
10:47 initiated by the town's bicentennial
10:51 commission
10:51 and councilman don smith it is
10:55 listed on the national register of
10:57 historic places
10:59 pretty cool i've always walked past us
11:03 but never stop to read the info
11:05 sometimes it's good to just slow down
11:07 and
11:08 take in the sights it's good to have a
11:11 peaceful day
11:13 a tree is very very prevalent blocking
11:16 a pretty good portion of the view from
11:18 the road i just did a little quick
11:20 research very impromptu of
11:22 other places that are on the national
11:24 registry here within a couple blocks and
11:26 there's one just up here about
11:28 you know two streets or so oh check that
11:30 out at the fire station they have the
11:33 they got the hood up like that that's
11:35 pretty neat
11:57 the time on that clock is incorrect
11:57 way off
12:02 maybe he got struck by lightning and
12:02 sent someone
12:04 to a different time time frame
12:07 no that would be 1004 that's not 1004
12:09 either heads
12:10 okay i'm very confused turned on to
12:13 palmyra
12:19 i believe that's how that is pronounced
12:19 there's a porta potty
12:21 in that yard and right over here
12:24 is the cv culver house
12:28 also getting a gentleman with a leaf
12:31 blower
12:32 they've done some mowing this was placed
12:35 on the
12:36 national register back in 86 and there
12:38 should be a placard designating that
12:41 that's a nice garage right there
12:44 adjacent
12:45 to the homestead wow
12:49 the cz i made a mistake the cz
12:52 culver house
13:00 very very nice under the shroud
13:00 of these rather large trees
13:04 beautiful is an understatement
13:07 yeah that is nice
13:13 i always seem to find anyone that's
13:13 doing
13:14 yard maintenance of any of it if if i'm
13:16 if it's anytime in the early
13:18 early time and i am filming there will
13:21 be someone
13:22 doing yard work that's just that's my
13:24 lot in life
13:26 okay this is interesting
13:29 this former baptist church which
13:32 now is a restaurant says margaritas to
13:35 go
13:36 is also on the national registry
13:44 means it cannot be torn down i think
13:44 that's the the rules
13:46 but it can be converted into another
13:48 establishment so it's no longer a church
13:56 so 192 south orange street
13:56 built back in 1893
14:04 yep state so right there july 11th 97 is
14:04 when it was placed on the
14:06 do not change list in fact this entire
14:09 area this one square mile radius
14:12 known as the plaza district is on the
14:14 national registry as well the entire
14:17 orange circle back in 1981 it was a
14:21 historic landmark but it until it was a
14:23 year later when it
14:24 became completely official
14:35 established in 1886 is when the plaza
14:35 also known as the orange circle
14:36 began whoa i thought i was back in
14:38 florida for a moment you know i do go
14:40 coast to coast pretty often
14:42 and these are these are often seen
14:45 lurking these gators here and they have
14:49 this is just some yard art decor
14:52 but they almost look pretty real this
14:54 one is referred to as the parker house
14:56 and designated as one of the oldest
15:00 in town dating back to 1886
15:04 a victorian style home
15:09 even has the directional
15:12 north south east west rustic look
15:17 right out front here the beautiful
15:21 butterfly
15:23 and the plaque can be seen from a
15:25 distance
15:26 it's right there on the porch
15:32 that was a nice little archway a little
15:32 foliage
15:34 archway
16:08 a very nice neighborhood even the post
16:08 office
16:09 has that small town feel
16:17 wait however i don't think it's very
16:17 nice that this crossing signal is asking
16:20 how much i weigh even though this facade
16:23 has been redone
16:24 its former entity signage has been
16:28 placed back you can see they have the
16:30 plastic on the
16:31 light bulbs there because they are
16:32 redoing all of this
16:34 and this neon was taken down but happy
16:37 to report
16:38 that the neon is back in all it's the
16:41 retro neon
16:42 has returned just as the rumor
16:45 stated nice
16:48 it is very faint
16:51 but there were church bells down there
16:54 that were ringing for a moment and now
16:57 they have stopped there's also
16:59 a bunch of birds yeah look at all those
17:02 those crows there in the yard a
17:06 hitchcock would be
17:09 yep
