0:09 whoa look at the size of that mosquito
0:09 right there that is a
0:17 mosquito I filled this entire car's gas
0:17 tank up for
0:20 $19 little bit different than the van I
0:22 prepaid
0:23 $30 so I got $11 back welcome everyone
0:27 Adam the woo here gas efficiency
0:31 something I am not used to it's my
0:33 second channel daily Vlog channel it's
0:36 the daily
0:45 woo this old Motel always reminds me out
0:45 of something out of an old horror film
0:47 notice this sign that says caution
0:49 overhead power lines the unusual thing
0:52 is they have adorned this area with
0:56 colorful banners there's more right here
1:00 it's almost like they're saying come
1:03 touch these power lines now I know the
1:05 purpose is to draw attention that way
1:06 the power lines are there to protect
1:08 people just seems kind of strange right
1:10 there seem to be a lot of them around
1:12 here I guess that's the way they do
1:14 things around these parts many years ago
1:17 this was one of my favorite thrift
1:18 stores here in Davenport there used to
1:21 be a huge American flag painted on the
1:23 side of that wall they had a back room
1:25 full of old VHS hard to find out of
1:27 print stuff and a lot of classic horror
1:30 stuff that was never released on DVD
1:32 those were the
1:36 days do you remember a vlog I did a few
1:38 months ago at a place called the mystery
1:40 hole which is this weird building under
1:43 the ground that was like it would throw
1:45 your equilibrium off there was a few of
1:47 those all around the US and there used
1:50 to be one right here on this street
1:51 corner this one was specifically called
1:53 the mystery house and it sat right there
1:56 and the only thing left to document this
1:59 piece of roadside history is the name of
2:01 the
2:02 road and speaking of mysteries wonder
2:06 how long that boat's been sitting there
2:08 my guess
2:10 is a pretty good while Adam the Woo's
2:13 Wild Kingdom if you look really closely
2:16 on the right you will see a sign that
2:18 says Winter Haven it's behind that
2:21 little foliage a small little town that
2:23 a lot of people do not realize is the
2:25 birthplace of a southern retail grocery
2:28 Empire but before we dive into that
2:30 subject
2:32 matter there is a purple
2:36 fountain right here in the park what are
2:39 you doing over there Kitty what are you
2:41 doing you
2:42 hiding playing hide and go seek you
2:45 might be able to get a better
2:46 perspective of it from a
2:49 distance how do you think they make that
2:52 purple they put coloring in the
3:00 water huh in 1930 a man by the name of
3:00 George Jenkins started a business in
3:03 this building right here starting in
3:06 this very small building inside the
3:09 General
3:10 Store he named it
3:19 Publix just think 1930 people would have
3:19 walked right up in here and it is now a
3:23 bar of some sort but this is where it
3:26 all began after a very short time the
3:29 business started to grow and it moved
3:30 from this location to what is now
3:33 considered to be the first ever Publix a
3:36 couple blocks away and the reason it's
3:37 thought of in that fashion is because
3:39 this upcoming building was the first one
3:42 that started to really adopt that famous
3:44 classic Publix's look I think I see it
3:47 it's right up here check it out what is
3:49 now a thrift
3:50 store that's totally an old school
3:53 public this building would become the
3:55 template of what future publes would
3:57 look like for decades and decades and
3:59 decades the building looks almost
4:01 identical as it did so many years ago
4:04 the only major difference is the
4:07 Public's awning right where my rental
4:10 car is parked is where the original
4:13 customers parked the parking lot looks
4:25 same that's what it looks like
4:25 inside pretty
4:28 cool
4:38 the first job I ever had was working at
4:38 a Publix in St Cloud Florida so there is
4:41 a little bit of a historical tie in in
4:43 my life what is this it looks to be like
4:46 some sort
4:48 of baby doll or a Barbie doll arm on the
4:53 ground what happened here this is around
4:55 the back of the building but you can see
4:57 they still have these tile ES windows
5:00 that are similar to The fronts and
5:01 here's the back doors and I'm guessing
5:04 this was the original grocery receiving
5:07 door right here and my assumption truck
5:10 would pull up right here employees would
5:12 open that door unload the truck through
5:14 there stock the
5:16 shelves the beginning of a grocery
5:18 Empire right here if only this broken
5:21 concrete could talk they now have well
5:24 over 1,000 locations but it all started
5:27 right here in Winter Haven Florida
5:30 pretty awesome I'm not sure if everyone
5:31 will be able to appreciate this because
5:35 Publix is more of a Southern state es
5:38 type of grocery store but if you live in
5:41 this area odds are you've either seen
5:43 one or shopped at one and if you don't
5:45 live in this area you have probably
5:47 heard the name one or two times there's
5:49 a lizard on my
5:52 window what are you doing up there buddy
5:55 hanging on for dear
5:57 life come on get off of
6:00 there it's not safe it's not safe get
6:04 off there you go
6:16 jump you drinking some water is that
6:16 what you're doing I'm holding a chicken
6:19 right
6:20 now I'm holding a I'm holding a chicken
6:24 what's this chicken's name Shirley
6:27 Shirley get it l
6:30 oh L and charlot she's
6:32 flinching I didn't make you
6:36 Flinch I've never held a chicken
6:44 before you ever been held by anyone
6:44 before beside your
6:51 owner look it's
6:51 Shirley she's staring look at this she's
6:54 a natural she's a natural natural on the
6:57 camera going to squeeze the poop out I'm
6:59 going to squeeze the poop out of her I
7:01 don't know no no no here take her back
7:03 this bird feeder has like a little
7:06 crazy long mustache seems to
7:10 be some casualties over here on the side
7:12 of this building I guess this is their
7:14 Halloween theme it's a boat store and
7:17 this mannequin this bloody mannequin is
7:19 just dangling off the side of
7:22 this pontunes
7:29 vehicle and nothing says America no no
7:29 not like like this boat but a code
7:32 violation for having mannequins out in
7:34 the yard without permission take that
7:36 back it's not a boat shop it's a
7:38 political headquarters this guy's trying
7:40 to escape get out of there while you can
7:43 this guy's doing some weird version of
7:45 calisthenic there's an old Drive-In
7:47 right there look at that you don't see
7:48 those too often and up here on the left
7:51 hand side if you look closely it's a
7:53 birthday cake hanging in the sky from a
7:56 water
7:57 tower and it spells out out Publix this
8:00 entire area is owned by Publix there's
8:04 the bakery there's the trucks there's
8:08 the water tower close up shaped like a
8:11 birthday cake I don't really know why
8:12 it's shaped like a birthday cake I guess
8:14 maybe because Publix has a bakery that
8:17 creates birthday
8:19 cake could be there's their credit union
8:22 they have their own banking system here
8:25 and there's the classic
8:27 green Publix's trucks that you see all
8:29 over the interstates look at this old
8:31 hotel with the neon signs you don't see
8:34 those too much anymore here's the
8:35 corporate offices and distribution
8:37 center and check out the name of the
8:39 road George Jenkins Road Mr George
8:43 himself we're arriving now at Champions
8:45 Gate and going through the gate of
8:49 Champions and if you want to know
8:53 why I parked here it's because you can't
8:56 do a Publix video without going in a
8:58 Publix
9:00 and one thing Florida has that a lot of
9:02 states don't are an endless supply of
9:04 fun noodles that act like I'm some kind
9:06 of SE creature like
9:14 fingers and this is what a typical
9:14 Public's looks like now considerably
9:17 larger and considerably different than
9:20 its humble beginnings look at this guy I
9:22 think his name is Chester Cheetah his
9:25 sunglasses definitely cooler than mine
9:27 have they revamped the backer Jack kid I
9:30 never remember him being that excited
9:32 ordering coffee right now 6 cents away
9:35 from being very evil if they only had
9:39 something I could purchase that costs a
9:41 nickel plus tax then it would be true
9:44 thank you mission accomplished it's not
9:48 as evil as I hoped it would be but still
9:51 good wow I guess the hurricane did do a
9:53 little wreak a little Havoc that
9:55 building's on its
9:58 side
