0:45 purchased this
0:47 house and restored
0:55 it the house was actually in danger of
0:55 collapsing and falling apart and the
0:58 city put together some money
1:00 and put it back together and there is
1:02 Ray Charles
1:05 porch it's my second channel daily blog

1:45 apart Ray Charles grew up right here in
1:45 Greenville
1:47 Florida probably about 5 miles off the
1:49 interstate in fact in the Little Town
1:52 Square in the downtown area which isn't
1:55 much of a little downtown it's very very
1:57 small and some little stores around
1:59 there is is actually a monument to Ray
2:01 Charles playing the piano which is
2:04 really cool I've actually been here
2:06 before about a year ago I think I don't
2:08 know what this
2:10 is but right there is some sort of a
2:12 water spout spet and a washboard look at
2:17 the
2:25 washboard I'm on my way back towards
2:25 Central Florida I'll be in St Cloud
2:27 Florida tonight for a little while late
2:30 tonight for a couple days and then I go
2:32 back on the road up the east coast to
2:34 Canada with the band Guttermouth a
2:36 couple week tour so I get to breathe a
2:38 sigh of relief for one or two days
2:41 starting late tonight and tomorrow until
2:45 Friday this road trip man I've been gone
2:47 for almost five months I left Florida on
2:51 January 17th and you know what today is

3:40 they've been getting rid of some
3:42 Shrubbery from the trees and the Florida
3:45 Moss hanging down right
3:48 there pretty cool Ray Charles childhood
3:52 home this house is a reconstruction of
3:55 the home where musician Ray Charles
3:57 lived with his mother artha Williams
4:00 an adopted grandmother Margaret Robinson
4:03 shortly after his birth in 1930 until
4:06 about the age of five so from age zero
4:09 to five Ray Charles lived right in
4:18 there this modest woodframe vernacular
4:18 home he grew up in was probably
4:20 constructed in the 1920s it had no
4:24 electricity and no indoor plumbing was
4:26 that the ouse we saw out back
4:30 the abandoned house was scheduled for
4:32 demolition in 2006 the town of
4:35 Greenville purchased the structure to
4:37 preserve the memory of Ray Charles with
4:39 a grant from the Florida Bureau of
4:42 historic preservation the town completed
4:44 the Restoration in 2008 and now we can
