0:04 today's adventure brings us to the
0:04 Hollywood Forever Cemetery very
0:07 interesting place I'm just going to
0:11 spend a day roaming around the premises
0:13 checking out some of the celebrity
0:15 graves notable names and the layout of
0:20 the land just a mellow day I point out
0:25 some of the fascinating things that I
0:27 find interesting it's not going to be a
0:29 full tour
0:30 piece by piece of every single spot here
0:32 but we'll get to quite a bit of it I'm
0:36 inviting you to join me shall you
0:39 upon entering there is a shop that sells
0:42 guide maps for only $5 you can purchase
0:45 one and wander around at your own
0:47 timeframe this old hearse is pretty
0:49 amazing Rolls Royce no longer in use but
0:54 it is kept here as a reminder of days
0:56 gone by everywhere you wander out here
0:59 you'll find peacocks you know
1:03 don't fight it's not always accessible
1:06 but I'm gonna try to get into that dome
1:08 area just past the chapel
1:12 if the doors open wow this is incredible
1:17 inside some writing there on the ledge I
1:25 think I could walk up they're also
1:27 located on the second floor Jerry Siegel
1:30 the co-writer of Superman
1:35 Margaret Whitley the mother of Hollywood
1:38 back in 1886 as the story goes she was
1:43 here with her husband who was down on
1:45 the far left of this hallway and that's
1:49 where this area got its name they were
1:51 here on honeymoon HJ Whitley and his
1:54 wife he's located next to this beautiful
1:58 stained-glass Pete Stanley was known as
2:01 the piano man so next to his final
2:05 resting place is a Steinway a miniature
2:10 went right there the far end
2:14 looks as if
2:17 the door is open here at the Judy
2:21 Garland pavilion even though she passed
2:24 on in June of 1969 people still come to
2:30 honor her there's a painting down there
2:34 bottle of wine and some coins looks like
2:39 we're having pretty good luck today
2:40 nearly everything is open and accessible
2:44 under the Talmadge name there are three
2:48 sisters here
2:50 the first Constance followed by Natalie
2:55 who was the wife of Buster Keaton and
2:59 Norma which goes down in history as the
3:04 first person to place her hand and
3:06 footprints in front of the Chinese
3:08 Theater the founder of Paramount
3:12 Pictures also went in with Cecil B
3:15 DeMille to create the first film feature
3:19 in this area Jesse Lasky passed away in
3:25 1958 his greatness never lacked
3:29 simplicity as stated there imagine
3:33 directing two classics that go on to
3:37 live on forever we can thank this man
3:41 for that very thing Victor Fleming Gone
3:45 with the Wind and Wizard of Oz in the
3:48 same year 1939 pretty amazing laid to
3:56 rest here with his wife and daughter
4:00 Lily and gray was the mother of
4:02 Charlie's second wife placed here with
4:07 her grandson who shares the name of his
4:12 famous father throughout the entire
4:14 1970s there was a television litter
4:17 campaign and you might remember iron
4:21 eyes Cody pictured here who was very
4:27 prevalent and became very popular
4:29 through those TV ads late next to his
4:35 wife who passed away 20-plus years
4:40 before he did his last appearance on
4:43 film was in Ernest goes to camp always
4:48 loved that movie if you decide to come
4:51 out here and check out anything in this
4:52 mausoleum do so before 4 p.m.
4:55 signage on the door states that's when
4:58 that's when they close this section up
5:00 should also mention there are public
5:02 restrooms next to the chapel just behind
5:04 this little veranda area if if you need
5:08 them there aren't too many of us that
5:10 haven't seen a cartoon where the
5:12 characters are voiced by this guy
5:15 stating that's all folks the man of a
5:20 thousand voices of course Woody
5:24 Woodpecker and Bugs Bunny even though
5:28 he's been gone since 89 his legacy will
5:31 always live on next to him as his wife
5:35 Estelle who passed away in 2003 a
5:39 shining star and within eyeshot of mel
5:43 is this headstone of one of the Golden
5:47 Girls Estelle Getty it's really the only
5:53 one in this section along these hedges
5:57 that's elevated just a bit very good
6:01 sized tombstone here people have placed
6:05 many many rocks along the top of it
6:15 2008 it should also be noted that you
6:15 are allowed to park here on property and
6:19 there's a really good view of that
6:20 iconic sign up there on the mountain
6:22 next to harold and fred is carl also
6:30 known as alfalfa from the our gang
6:32 series very young his life was taken
6:39 over a dog over $50 for a reward for a
6:43 dog
6:43 he was shot just over 31 years old about
6:50 to head into another enclosed area just
6:53 below the paramount studios water tower
6:56 you see it there peeking up over the
6:59 roofline very well-known in the mob
7:03 world Bugsy Siegel who was just 41 years
7:08 old when he was gunned down at his
7:10 girlfriend's house says In loving memory
7:14 from the family and he's in the same
7:18 section as a movie location that I am
7:22 very familiar with and you might be too
7:25 in Rocky 3 when they were saying goodbye
7:28 to Mickey I'm standing in the same spot
7:31 the camera was looking straight down
7:34 that way there is a piano here it's seen
7:40 better days but it is still it is still
7:43 playable slightly out of key but right
7:46 down at the end there was the final
7:50 moments of Mickey and the rocky series
7:52 Wow right here to be exact Stallone and
7:57 company we're standing in front of that
8:00 doorway on the far right
8:14 it's a very sad moment for for anyone
8:14 that's a fan of that series of films it
8:20 appears that's the only key that works
8:30 look that one does too but it kind of
8:30 stuck these palm trees lining the roads
8:33 through here are a nice touch as well
8:37 very beautiful the cathedral mausoleum
8:40 looks as if this is accessible at the
8:43 moment as well Wow look at these statues
9:13 over in the corner as Valentino himself
9:13 which is one of the most popular graves
9:15 out here you can see lots of kisses
9:21 lipstick marks left there on the side of
9:25 the marble sitting caddy corner to
9:28 Rudolph's spot is Peter Finch from the
9:34 movie Network gave that famous speech
9:37 where he was yelling I'm mad as hell and
9:41 I'm not gonna take this anymore
9:43 william desmond taylor who was born
9:45 William tanner was a notable director
9:49 who was murdered in February of 1922 and
9:52 to this day it's still a cold case no
9:57 one knows what really happened and not
10:01 too far from there is Peter Lorre just
10:10 adjacent someone has left some coins in
10:15 the shape of of a smiley face next to
10:18 his photos interesting sidenote
10:21 remember earlier when I pointed out the
10:24 mother and father of Hollywood and how
10:27 they named the town the same is also
10:30 rumored about harvey wilcox and his wife
10:34 around the same timeframe and there is a
10:37 road named after Wilcox in Los Angeles
10:40 but which one can truly say they named
10:44 this area that's a mystery back outside
10:49 now here against this section of the
10:54 building is Mickey Rooney now I know
10:56 he's been in a heck of a lot of things
10:57 but I will always remember him as Lampe
11:00 from peach dragon states here that
11:03 Hollywood will always be his home true
11:06 in life and now true in death in memory
11:10 of Toto on the complete opposite side of
11:13 the property from Judy Garland and this
11:16 is not the grave per se of the dog
11:21 that was covered over by a freeway quite
11:24 a ways from here they had built this
11:26 just as an homage as a memory of Toto I
11:31 saw Chris Cornell perform watts with
11:34 Soundgarden end of July 1994 at the edge
11:37 concert field in Orlando Florida I
11:41 remember that night very well
11:52 at Cornell's funeral chester bennington
11:54 stood on these very stairs and sang his
11:57 rendition of hallelujah it wasn't much
12:01 later that he passed on
12:13 those stairs are located right here at
12:13 this section of water and at the end of
12:15 it
12:16 is Douglas Fairbanks Jr and senior where
12:21 they are laid to rest with once again
12:23 that Paramount Studios water tower
12:26 looming over their names are inscribed
12:30 right up there and on this side state's
12:35 good night sweet princess and flights of
12:37 angels sing thee to thy rest
12:42 there's also a couple lipstick marks
12:46 right here as well looking from the
12:49 opposite direction notice there's a
12:50 pyramid there in the center of the
12:53 strength always hanging around our
12:57 Turtles right now they're perched on
13:01 that log but if they were to swim over
13:03 try to get to dry land a little bridge
13:07 staircase has been built for them to
13:11 crawl up onto the grass for Tyrone
13:14 powers funeral a lot of Hollywood elite
13:17 showed up to pay their respects
13:19 including the likes of Jimmy Stewart
13:20 Henry Fonda and many others some resting
13:24 ducks there on the ground but they could
13:28 use Judy's bench if they so decided
13:32 that's why it's here a place for us to
13:34 come and remember how much you loved us
13:36 all love to you always your friends
13:40 that's pretty cool located right here
13:43 along the peaceful water
13:54 born in 1866 Hannah Chaplin is the
13:54 mother of one of the most famous silent
13:57 film stars of all time some shoes have
14:01 been placed here at Virginia raps ed
14:05 Stone who suffered a very horrific fate
14:10 at a party of Fatty Arbuckle the case
14:14 has been examined very closely and no
14:17 one really knows what happened with this
14:21 one either there are a couple of
14:23 honorable mentions so honorable in fact
14:26 that headstones have been placed in
14:29 their honor Jayne Mansfield is actually
14:32 buried in Pennsylvania but they have
14:35 this called a Cenotaph as an Amash you
14:42 got to use the stairs gonna use those
14:46 stairs use the stairs that's what
14:53 they're there for
14:55 yeah the stairs they're right over here
14:58 to your right
15:03 No okay fine
15:08 as well as how do you make Daniel from
15:11 Gone with the Wind have said that one of
15:13 her final wishes was to be laid to rest
15:16 here but sign of the times back then it
15:19 was not allowed and when the cemetery
15:21 changed hand a few years later they
15:24 asked the family if they wanted to move
15:25 her body here but they decided against
15:28 it instead they built this monument in
15:32 her honor
15:33 dedicated October 26 1999 Johnny Ramone
15:39 rockin out here by the waterway and from
15:43 what I heard his ashes were to be or are
15:47 interned here nonetheless that's a
15:50 pretty impressive statue
15:52 I saw the Ramones as well back in the
15:54 early 90s it was pretty fantastic I
15:57 could safely say I'm very happy that I
15:59 was able to see them perform before they
16:01 broke up
16:18 keeping up with the same topic I feel so
16:21 safe flying honoré here is didi and
16:28 placed down below where it states okay I
16:32 got a go now are some lighters
16:35 cigarettes and even some guitar picks
16:38 and while this is very very decorated
16:41 take a look at the cherub to the far
16:44 left it's wearing a guitar belonging to
16:48 Bianca born to love lived to rock nice
16:55 you got to love this
16:57 the DeMille family plot and on the far
17:01 right is that famous director of the Ten
17:05 Commandments Cecil B I'm always reminded
17:09 me of Sunset Boulevard that famous lied
17:13 I'm ready for a my close-up mr. DeMille
17:17 Janet Gaynor later in life added the
17:21 Gregory she was the first to ever win a
17:24 Best Actress Academy Award in 1929
17:27 for three different films prior to that
17:32 ceremony that's some serious history
17:35 right there Anton Yelchin also died at a
17:40 very young age tragically there is no
17:43 end date just says forever
17:54 he wants to live on forever I do believe
17:54 that's supposed to be King Kong right
17:57 there just above fail Ray's head sound
18:02 star of the 1933 classic a 2004 when she
18:08 passed on they dimmed the lights of the
18:11 Empire State Building for 15 minutes in
18:15 mama I rain sporting some sweet shades
18:19 not only was she perfect States
18:23 she was Italian Don Adams touched our
18:26 hearts as Maxwell Smart secret agent 86
18:29 and the sixties TV series get smart
18:33 filled the world with laughter that will
18:36 forever be remembered on the opposite
18:39 side of the lake from the DeMille family
18:42 plot is the cone family plot and Harry
18:51 who is an integral part of the Columbia
18:54 Pictures organization
19:03 is here and I mentioned the dimille's
19:03 because their plot is very similar in
19:05 style to this one got some very sharp
19:10 fangs and a plastic spider next to those
19:14 shoes and flour here at vampira's spot
19:19 and she is located just at the forefront
19:23 of Darren McGavin the father from
19:27 Christmas Story and Billy Madison our
19:31 Ock it's tough to see the etching from a
19:35 distance get a little closer here born
19:40 1922
19:43 until 2006
19:52 this very tall monument as high as the
19:52 trees is for Griffith J Griffith if
19:57 you've heard of the observatory or
19:58 Griffith Park this is who it was named
20:01 for an interesting fact he spent two
20:05 years in prison for shooting his wife
20:14 true story
20:14 Florence Lawrence the Biograph girl also
20:18 known as the first movie star back in
20:21 the silent film era they rarely used
20:24 their names in the credits that changed
20:27 here with Florence she had a very tragic
20:30 ending as well in 1938 when she poisoned
20:34 herself she's located at the far end of
20:37 this historic Chapel just past that rock
20:41 formation with these circular patterns
20:44 and the pavement
20:46 quite a few cats on site
20:57 currently enjoying a meal
20:57 well maybe they just enjoyed the meal
21:00 this one's still still enjoying but the
21:04 other ones have finished out
21:06 and they're just watching from afar one
21:10 could easily mistake this bus for
21:12 Vincent Price but in actuality it's
21:16 Kasparian Avitus 1940 the 1995
