0:03 welcome everyone Adam the woo
0:03 here what you're looking at is Highway
0:05 192 that leads from CMI Florida to St
0:09 Cloud Florida St Cloud Florida would be
0:11 that way CMI Florida That
0:14 Way Orlando International Airport is
0:17 right over
0:18 there a lot of people departing Orlando
0:21 International which is about 15 miles
0:24 that way going home after a very joyous
0:28 Thanksgiving going back to their home
0:30 after eating lots of turkey they've done
0:33 their Duty now they're going to go home
0:35 and they're going to sleep well or maybe
0:39 they slept well yesterday after gorging
0:42 themselves with delicious green bean
0:44 casserole and mash
0:46 potatoes and
0:49 stuffing and
0:51 turkey and what else do you eat oh look
0:55 there's a plane see it right there
1:03 see you thought I was I was joking about
1:03 there being an airport right there but
1:05 right there barely off in the
1:08 distance you can see that plane of
1:11 people
1:12 leaving and going back to their Hometown
1:15 here's my van it's the only van in the
1:18 parking
1:18 lot of
1:21 this area I'm trying to think of the
1:24 word I'm at a I'm at a loss for words
1:27 this retail
1:28 establishment that that I actually used
1:30 to work at it's now a school it's called
1:33 the Zenith career
1:36 center but at the turn of the century I
1:39 can specifically remember
1:42 Y2K I was working here when 2000 hit Y
1:47 2K used to pull my car in here I worked
1:50 here for 5 years pulled my car in got
1:53 out of the car walk through those doors
1:56 walked to the back punched a time clock
2:00 this was a Kmart that eventually became
2:04 a big K which was basically Kmart's
2:06 version of trying to compete with
2:08 Walmart super centers Kmart was being
2:11 annihilated by the Walmart company Kmart
2:14 needed a new game plan they decided to
2:17 change from Kmart to Big K add a grocery
2:20 store aspect in but yet they never tore
2:23 down the old buildings they took the old
2:24 facades and just resurfaced them and
2:27 added in a grocery department and that's
2:30 what I did for 5 years I worked in here
2:33 I was a sporting goods manager I was an
2:35 overnight stock crew manager I was a
2:38 grocery manager at the turn
2:41 of the century is around that time frame
2:46 right inside those
2:48 doors and it's crazy to
2:51 think that all that is just a memory all
2:53 the time spent in there all the work
2:56 done all the customers that I helped and
2:59 a p
3:00 and made their retail dreams come true
3:04 all that is just a faint memory in my
3:07 mind and in the grand scheme of things
3:09 very unimportant and what else in the
3:12 grand scheme of things is unimportant
3:14 talking about Black Friday today is
3:17 Black Friday and it really isn't that
3:19 unimportant actually is a pretty joyous
3:22 occasion for a lot of people here in
3:25 America which actually leads me to a
3:27 point is Black Friday just an American
3:30 tradition here in the good old us OFA or
3:33 is it a worldwide
3:35 phenomenon that's my question to
3:38 you you
3:40 sir I want to know what your thoughts
3:43 are on Black Friday it's my second
3:45 channel daily blog channel it's the
3:48 daily
3:49 woo that's me right in front of this
3:54 Zenith career
3:56 center when they changed over from K
4:00 to Big K I worked here with my roommate
4:03 one of my really good friends we lived
4:05 together we hung out together and we
4:08 work together right inside of here we
4:12 were working 70 75 sometimes 80 hours a
4:17 week transferring this store from Kmart
4:20 to Big K crazy to think of all those
4:23 memories that happened right inside of
4:25 here actually right in front of here
4:27 were all these children toys that you
4:29 insert AC quarter
4:31 in you put a quarter in your kid gets on
4:34 there and rides a pony or a train or a
4:38 motorcycle I'm a big boy now I'm riding
4:40 a motorcycle you know what's very
4:42 interesting those were all located right
4:44 in here and I read this article online a
4:47 long time ago maybe even in before the
4:50 internet days back when magazines were
4:52 very very popular I read an article
4:54 somewhere that the most bacteria you can
4:57 touch or your child can touch is
4:59 actually on those motorized quarter
5:01 machines and the reason for that the
5:04 people that own them never clean them
5:06 and a person making little bit more than
5:08 minimum wage inside of here is not going
5:10 to take the initiative to take a warm
5:12 rag or some Lysol and come out here and
5:14 clean off those kids toys so when your
5:17 kid is nestling his mouth and his tongue
5:22 on those things I'm riding this daddy
5:24 I'm riding it I love it I love riding
5:27 this motorcycle just think of all the
5:29 other kids that have slobbered on there
5:32 and never has been cleaned off so I
5:35 found that article very interesting and
5:37 I have a new outlook on those I'm
5:39 definitely not a germaphobe by any
5:41 stretch of the imagination but you will
5:43 not catch me making out or kissing or
5:46 licking my tongue across any children
5:49 toys that you can insert a quarter in
5:52 and they shake you all around in front
5:55 of a Kmart or a Walmart or any other
5:57 sort of retail establishment fun fact of
6:01 the day where were the front doors right
6:04 there it's now been converted into a a
6:07 school by the Oola Educational Center
6:11 but right through here is where I walked
6:13 in every day 40 plus hours a week I'd
6:18 walk in
6:19 here right down this hallway of course
6:22 it wasn't a hallway then it was actually
6:23 just a huge open area I'd walk all the
6:26 way to the back I'd hang a left go go
6:29 back to the Sporting Goods Department I
6:32 was actually a sporting goods manager
6:33 for a while I was a bunch of different
6:35 quote unquote manager positions and that
6:38 is a
6:40 comical kind of a comical title that
6:44 they gave me cuz really they would give
6:45 me a 30 cent raise sometimes 50 cent
6:47 raise maybe a dollar raise which put me
6:51 to like eight bucks an
6:52 hour which isn't horrible but it's not
6:55 great considering for a dollar less
6:57 being a normal employee I did not have
7:00 to take the flak and the abuse from
7:02 corporate and management that you do by
7:05 getting a dollar raise so if you're
7:07 working 40 hours a week they give you a
7:08 dollar raise you're getting $40 extra a
7:11 week before taxes so really you're
7:13 getting like 28 bucks 30 bucks extra a
7:16 week to take all this bombardment and
7:19 all this responsibility on your
7:21 shoulders and you cannot control what
7:23 other people do so either way you're
7:25 going to get yelled at your stress level
7:28 goes through the roof just just for a
7:30 couple extra bucks man just talking
7:33 about it drives me insane what else
7:36 drove me insane was people that would
7:39 come into the
7:40 store and they were very meanhe hearted
7:43 and abusive it takes a very rare breed a
7:47 very confident very patient group of
7:50 people to work retail if you have never
7:53 actually worked retail I know there's
7:55 different types of retail there's a
7:57 service industry retail there's also
7:59 servers which I have a huge respect for
8:02 but this particular Vlog I'm talking
8:04 about corporate retail in the form of
8:06 grocery stores in the form of retail
8:09 stores like Walmart Kmart Target wind
8:12 Dixie Publix any sort of grocery store
8:15 area takes a
8:18 very certain kind of fantastic person
8:22 I'm talking to you my retail friends to
8:25 do that type of job for a lifetime if
8:30 you will there are some lifetime people
8:33 who work
8:34 retail and this is a huge shout out to
8:38 you on this Black Friday cuz Black
8:41 Friday is the worst I do not work in
8:44 retail anymore so I am now a normal
8:48 person and you if you have never worked
8:51 retail I cannot tell you how offensive
8:55 and annoying and ridiculous we are when
8:58 we go into a store store yelling and
9:00 screaming and taking the people who work
9:04 retail jobs and pretending that their
9:06 job is menial it's a very
9:10 underappreciated job so if you've never
9:13 worked retail remember that when you go
9:15 anywhere and you talk to someone they
9:18 are not below you they are actually
9:21 helping you they are trying to do their
9:24 Duty and give you the product that
9:27 you're looking for they're going in the
9:28 backro they're looking just because the
9:30 sale item is out of stock it's not the
9:33 employees
9:35 fault I deal with that a lot and I my
9:40 sympathy goes out to everyone who is
9:42 working retail today on this
9:46 Black Friday I am one of you trust me
9:52 I've been there you can feel the passion
9:56 and the somewhat anger in my soul
10:00 when it comes to working retail so I
10:04 love all my retail friends my retail
10:08 vicarious family out there this retail
10:12 establishment has closed this particular
10:14 Kmart is gone but back in the day I
10:17 remember coming here on Black Friday to
10:19 work arriving at 3:00 a.m. the doors
10:22 opened at 5:00 2 hours before the doors
10:24 would open there would be a massive line
10:26 of
10:27 people waiting to get the new new toy
10:30 the new electronic thing and most of
10:32 them were very rude so my retail
10:37 friends this one goes out to you retail
10:41 friends we love you you make the world
10:45 go
10:46 around and if you go in screaming and
10:49 yelling at a retail associate that makes
10:52 you a
10:55 clown all right have a great Black
10:57 Friday hopefully you guys got a lot of
10:58 good stuff
10:59 speaking of things that you can purchase
11:01 I actually put up a new t-shirt on Adam
