0:40 waterfall welcome to Fantasy

0:44 Island it's my second channel daily vog

0:47 channel it's the daily woo once again

0:50 joined by Hank he was in the Vlog

0:52 yesterday we were checking out some

0:55 interesting

0:56 sea worthy type vessels but today we are

1:00 in the middle of the sea I'm talking

1:02 about Fantasy Island the filming

1:05 locations that actually started the

1:07 series started in 1978 and went to 1984

1:10 and it was based on two television

1:13 movies that actually spawned a little

1:15 bit of interest and the producer decided

1:17 to create a series with the director

1:20 starring Ricardo Montel Bond and it was

1:23 all actually filmed right out here on

1:26 this property at the Los Angeles Arbor

1:30 I think that's how you actually

1:31 pronounce it we've actually been given a

1:33 pamphlet right here the R bitum cost

1:37 about $9 to get in

1:40 175 Acres that's a pretty massive

1:43 property we did not realize how big did

1:45 you have any idea how big this place is

1:46 going to be and the thing is interesting

1:49 is there are almost as many episodes of

1:52 Fantasy Island in the Seven Seasons that

1:54 were filmed out here as there are acres

1:56 so they could have actually utilized

1:58 each acre of the property per episode

2:01 I'm sure they did not do it in that

2:03 fashion and I was actually just thinking

2:05 man it'd be really awesome to dig up all

2:07 the old episodes and actually do some

2:08 main Channel videos maybe one day of

2:11 each and every of the historic Fantasy

2:14 Island episodes that were filmed out

2:16 here in the little known area of the Los

2:20 Angeles R bitum and I don't even know if

2:23 they even really promote the fact that

2:24 the show was filmed here was a very

2:26 successful show I think it ran on ABC if

2:29 I correct I don't think it was NBC or

2:31 CBS but look at these

2:33 geese

2:35 whoa what are your fantasies

2:39 geese did you ever watch Fantasy Island

2:42 when you were younger or maybe your

2:43 parents watched it I remember my parents

2:46 watching Fantasy Island did you ever

2:47 watch it when you were younger a little

2:49 bit here and there I've probably seen 20

2:52 to 30 episodes maybe more than that

2:54 there was a few key element episodes

2:56 that I remember one thing I remember

2:58 about Fantasy Island and a lot of TV

2:59 shows from that era is anybody that was

3:02 super popular in movies or television

3:05 shows were all guest stars on Fantasy

3:09 Island so that was actually always

3:10 really cool the fact that you could see

3:12 different celebrities kind that's how

3:14 like Columbo was and the loveboat and

3:17 Fantasy Island and more

3:21 geese they say geese are actually very

3:23 dangerous you've actually had a runin

3:26 with Geese where the geese were

3:27 attacking your dog at one time you were

3:29 telling me a story about the attack so

3:31 you should come out here oh look at this

3:34 this actually looks like one of the

3:36 buildings from Fantasy Island we were

3:39 confused at first cuz I thought maybe

3:41 that was actually the actual opening

3:44 scene where tattoo is ringing the bell

3:48 saying the historic line the plane the

3:50 plane but we that's right that was the

3:52 histo what was it again the plane the

3:55 plane that's what we thought was the

3:59 actual

4:00 building from the intro but rest assured

4:04 that is not it it's actually around the

4:05 corner and it's actually located on a

4:07 little Lagoon which a lot of people

4:09 assume whoa what's that what's that up

4:12 there it's the plane bus what is it the

4:17 plane we really are on Fantasy Island

4:21 see in the show you thought you were in

4:23 the middle of the Pacific Ocean the

4:24 plane was what was it again the plane

4:28 the plane was

4:31 the plane was landing on Fantasy Island

4:34 but in truth in reality Hollywood TV

4:39 magic we are not on an island we are

4:41 actually on a peninsula if you will a

4:46 continent of California which is a state

4:48 which is on a continent which I guess at

4:50 some point has a peninsula let's just

4:52 call it an island let's just call it

4:54 fantasy all this is a

4:56 fantasy Vlog Ricardo Monto will be

5:00 waiting at the bottom of the Lagoon

5:02 which hopefully we're going to find

5:03 momentarily standing there with tattoo

5:06 next to him I've Al often heard a lot of

5:08 tattoo artists that every time I would

5:11 get tattoo they would go you should get

5:12 a tattoo of tattoo I don't know if

5:16 anyone watching this they actually if

5:17 everyone's ever actually got a tattoo of

5:20 tattoo I would probably rather get a

5:23 tattoo of a goose a

5:26 goose all I can think of is the liar Li

5:30 out takes when Jim car's in the

5:32 courtroom and he smashes up the piece of

5:34 paper and he turns it into this little

5:35 thing with a Little Neck a goose and

5:39 everyone laughs some of the outakes on

5:40 liar liar that has nothing to do with

5:42 Fantasy Island and you got to wonder if

5:44 Fantasy Island was still in existence

5:46 today as a popular TV show I wonder if

5:48 Jim Carrey would have been a guest star

5:50 just like so many other famous comedians

5:53 and actors major people in dramas and

5:56 movies huge movie stars were on Fantasy

5:59 Island and right down this pathway if

6:01 you look right over here you can see the

6:05 actual Lagoon this is the actual water

6:09 that that plane what type of plane was

6:12 it it was like it was a Catalina sea

6:14 plane a Catalina sea plane would have

6:16 flown right in here it would have landed

6:19 and you were saying it was probably a

6:21 prop plane of some sort maybe it really

6:23 didn't fly maybe it was just like a boat

6:25 converted into a plane if you will to

6:27 maybe just like shimmy along to motor

6:29 around because this area really is not

6:32 very big probably not big enough to land

6:35 an actual plane a sea plane a SE a lot

6:38 of room and there's not a lot of room

6:40 right there is a boat

6:42 waa I wonder if there's actually any

6:44 ores in there if we could go out onto

6:47 the

6:54 Waterway so just think about this late'

6:54 7s early ' 80s think of all those

6:56 episodes of Fantasy Island the intro

6:58 scenes of course were filmed in Hawaii

7:01 but through the beauty of editing it

7:03 slashes from Hawaii it never actually

7:05 says it's in Hawaii and no one ever even

7:07 really knows if Mr roor is really a real

7:10 person or if he's some sort of like a

7:12 Biblical figure if he's Somebody That

7:14 Never Dies if he ever ages there's a lot

7:17 of actual questions online a lot of

7:19 people who are huge fans of the shows

7:21 that really try to dig deep into the

7:24 premise of Fantasy Island maybe he's God

7:27 maybe he's an angel so we want to know

7:29 what you her thoughts on Mr roor R and

7:33 Ricardo Monto bal's awesome charact did

7:35 I pronounce that right Ricardo monleon

7:38 which of course I know him and you

7:40 probably know him from Star Trek 2 Wrath

7:44 con that was my favorite Ricardo moment

7:47 the earwig scene when they put the

7:49 earwig thing in there and Czech hov's

7:50 ear and they dig it out oh you ever see

7:52 that movie did

7:53 terrifying this is a less lowkey he

7:57 wasn't Con in this movie he was a guy

8:00 who made people's hopes dreams their

8:03 fantasies if you will no matter what

8:05 they were how crazy and bizarre

8:07 sometimes a little kinky come true right

10:16 locations or TV show spots and I think

10:18 this is awesome but it's not completely

10:20 epic well I have to tell you this is

10:23 epic and here comes a gardener or a

10:26 caretaker or maybe that's the carriage

10:28 showing up to get Mr Ro and to get

10:32 tattooed take them over to where the

10:34 boat is landing and through movie Magic

10:37 and television magic once again in the

10:40 show it appears that when Mr roor and

10:43 tattoo get in the vehicle they drive off

10:45 that way to go meet up with the sea

10:47 plane the sea plane actually arrives

10:50 less than probably 20 ft from where they

10:52 actually were at the

10:54 beginning of the episode let's go over

10:58 here and actually show them where the

11:00 plane actually arrives so when the plane

11:03 lands comes around the T the side of

11:05 this Cottage the name of this Cottage is

11:07 the queen an

11:14 cottage which actually has a historical

11:14 significance of its own it's actually

11:16 historical landmark number 367 on the

11:19 California state park commission

11:21 historical landmark chart so if you

11:23 wanted to Google some research about

11:25 that facility you can find out about

11:27 that as well but right over here is

11:29 where Ricardo monoban Mr orc would have

11:32 stood and he would have analyzed

11:35 critiqued and honed in to what the

11:38 passions of each person arriving two

11:41 tattoo standing side by side right there

11:45 the plane would have landed they would

11:47 have got off of a little dock remember

11:49 when they would walk down the dock and

11:51 Mr roor would be standing right here

11:54 Smiles everyone Smiles he would be

11:57 standing right here sometimes in front

11:58 of the

12:00 very palm trees reaching up to the

12:03 heavens of an unknown island in the

12:05 middle of the ocean and he would sit

12:07 here and they basically they gave away

12:10 what the show was going to be about that

12:12 was him explaining what each character

12:15 that was getting off of the sea plane

12:17 and walking up that little dock they

12:19 would grab a margarita they would get

12:21 one of those what do they call those

12:21 things the Lays you put around there

12:23 they'd be drinking on a dairy of some

12:25 sort some sort of Hawaiian or some sort

12:28 of fruity awesome beverage preparing for

12:31 their weekend of excitement here on

12:33 Fantasy Island and that all happened

12:36 right in here so that is where Fantasy

12:40 Island begins and this is where all your

12:43 fantasies come true we should probably

12:45 go up front and take a good look at the

12:48 cottage itself maybe show some of the

12:50 details yeah give them a little bit of a

12:52 closer view by the way you're wearing an

12:55 Iron Maiden shirt you were telling me

12:56 why you're wearing the Iron Maiden shirt

12:57 today shout out to one of your your fans

13:00 cuz yesterday in the Vlog yesterday

13:03 somebody left a comment about how they

13:05 could see you going somewhere and

13:07 singing Iron Maiden in a vlog rocking

13:27 Island they're used to actually be a

13:30 fountain here in the show and you can

13:32 actually see when they turn around here

13:33 you can see the fountain a lot you can

13:35 see a lot of cars that pull in here and

13:37 then the very first episode season 1

13:40 episode one when tattoo is up there

13:42 ringing the bell it's one continuous

13:44 shot tattoo comes down Ricardo monan is

13:48 standing right there on the stairs

13:49 tattoo comes up they start their little

13:51 conversation but after episode one so

13:53 season one episode two and Beyond they

13:56 actually had a shot it was a crane shot

13:59 where the the camera was up here and the

14:01 camera started like

14:03 this and it kind of went like this and

14:05 it zoomed in on these two pillars this

14:08 bush of course was not here so the

14:10 camera would have P like zoomed in like

14:13 this and you could actually see Ricardo

14:15 monoban looking through that window he

14:18 opens the window up and he kind of looks

14:20 up to the heavens like they're arriving

14:23 they're arriving and it was right there

14:25 behind those two windows you could find

14:29 all this stuff on YouTube and maybe even

14:31 on Netflix like I was saying but the

14:33 part that really blows my mind the most

14:35 are these exact stairs so in episode one

14:40 season one episode one do you know what

14:42 happens right here in season 1 episode

14:44 one of Fantasy Island 1978 after the TV

16:34 pitched a little bit different than what

16:36 they did in the voice over for the

16:39 continual Seasons but the Bell is still

16:41 up there unfortunately we cannot get

16:47 fantasy I actually wanted to ring the

16:48 bell but just standing here it's kind of

16:49 like a bucketless TV icon there's one

16:52 other thing I want to show you too when

16:54 you watch the opening scene when the

16:57 plane flies over and Tattoos up there

17:00 ringing the bell one thing to look out

17:03 for not only is the bell tower right

17:06 there but there's actually a palm tree

17:08 that gravity has gotten a hold of and

17:10 actually like swoops across at that

17:11 angle that palm tree is still leaning

17:16 look at that leaning palm tree that's

17:18 pretty amazing to think about what was

17:20 that 20 years ago 30 years ago years ago

17:23 yeah 40 almost 40 you figure 70 70 gosh

17:27 35 30 to 40 years ago that palm tree is

17:32 leaning which is actually really really

18:04 it's pretty crazy honestly to think that

18:15 episode would start with tattoo doing

18:17 something bizarre walking up next to his

18:20 boss there was one episode where he was

18:22 smoking a pipe and he had that little

18:24 that little thing you put in your eye

18:25 when you're like the Monopoly guy all

18:28 the yeah a mon

18:29 and there was other episodes where he

18:30 wored weird hats so there was always

18:33 some sort of a camaraderie between roor

18:37 and tattoo sadly the actor that played

18:40 tattoo Herve vich actually committed

18:43 suicide it's a very sad Hollywood tale

18:46 so his memory is kind of right here as

18:49 well Ricardo montabon is still alive but

18:52 just to think how many decades ago so

18:55 many scenes were filmed right on here so

18:58 many beautiful women were running

19:00 through here because every episode at

19:02 the beginning would start here and the

19:04 episode after the plane would land all

19:06 these women in like hola

19:08 skirts very dressed very scantily I know

19:12 that's why you watched it that's one of

19:13 the reasons probably any male watched

19:16 that show was because of the who oh my
