ABANDONED - Catastrophe Canyon at Walt Disney World
http://www.AdamTheWoo.com - PLEASE SUBSCRIBE - I always wonder what happened to Catastrophe Canyon from the backlot tour at MGM / Hollywood Studios in Florida. Upon research I heard it still existed and was able to be seen from a great birds eye view perching spot. What will happen to this relic of my childhood happiness once the DHS expansions happen ? For now I'm happy to know it still exists in some form. Enjoy !

welcome everyone I'm at Walt Disney
0:02
World's Hollywood Studios but I remember
0:05
this place as MGM Studios and 1989 1990
0:09
and
0:10
1991 this was my all-time favorite theme
0:13
park because I love the movies and I
0:16
love the whole idea of encompassing
0:18
bringing the movies directly to me and
0:21
learning how movies were made and I want
0:23
to show you something that used to exist
0:25
on the back lot that is soon to be
0:28
removed they used to actually reside
0:31
right back in here it was the back lot
0:33
tour which eventually the houses were
0:35
torn down and they put a car stunt show
0:38
by the name of Lights motor action but
0:41
behind this is something very amazing
0:45
that I hold in my heart in a very
0:47
special place by the name of catastrophe
0:50
Canyon that you can still see from a
0:53
bird's eye public View and I want to
0:56
show you what still exists let's go back
0:58
in time talk about the memories and show
1:01
what Still Remains currently for now
1:05
let's go check out catastrophe Canyon
1:07
join me shall
1:30
you I actually did not real realized
1:30
that catastrophe Canyon still exist
1:32
until I talked to a very kind cast
1:34
member and I was asking him how could I
1:36
see Waltz plane that used to fly from
1:38
Anaheim to Orlando Florida when they
1:41
were doing the surveying of Walt Disney
1:43
World and he told me all you had to do
1:45
was just go into the que line go up into
1:48
the grand stands for the car show and
1:50
you could actually look on the back side
1:53
of the stadium and you could see Waltz
1:55
airplane and you could also see
1:57
catastrophe Canyon so thanks to him I
1:59
was is actually able to visually see
2:01
catastrophe Canyon and I want to show
2:03
you where it is pretty awesome once the
2:06
lights motor action stunt show opens up
2:08
just get here a little bit early and go
2:10
in with the crowd like you're going to
2:12
the stunt show everyone is actually
2:14
walking to get a good seat so they can
2:15
actually see the car stunt show we are
2:18
going to follow everyone but instead of
2:19
taking a seat we are actually just going
2:21
to go to the top where you can Overlook
2:23
and get not only a good spot of the
2:26
stunt show but also a very good angle
2:28
and a very good view of catastrophe
2:31
Canyon there's the grand stands where
2:33
you can sit in and Overlook where the
2:35
car show will be so we're going to go
2:37
directly up to the top that is our
2:39
destination the throngs of people are
2:40
going to their seats but here is the
2:42
first thing I was telling you about
2:44
check it out there is the plane right
2:46
here of course we cannot cross the fence
2:48
because this is backstage but all this
2:51
is normally accessible to anyone who
2:53
walks the walk up here this is amazing
2:55
this is the actual plane that would fly
2:57
from Los Angeles to Orlando window just
3:00
sitting here behind this Stadium that's
3:04
awesome but that is not what this video
3:06
is about the video is about what lies
3:08
right over there now you see the
3:10
stairway we could take the elevator the
3:11
elevator is actually located right down
3:14
there but you can actually get a little
3:16
exercise by walking up this stairway but
3:19
instead of going to the first level or
3:21
to the second level to find our seats
3:23
we're just going to walk all the way to
3:24
the very top level we've now reached the
3:27
top you can actually see New York Street
3:29
down there now called streets of America
3:32
and you can see everyone taking their
3:33
seats ready to watch the exciting show
3:36
but we're actually going to walk back
3:38
here through the exit back down the
3:40
stairs so we can get a bird's eye look a
3:43
very good look at this catastrophe
3:47
Canyon still here back in the day when
3:50
you would do the back lot tour the tram
3:52
would basically drive right where they
3:54
are driving and it would turn to the
3:57
right the cast member would give you
3:59
their spiel about how you were going
4:00
into a movie filming production coming
4:02
up in front of the shut we have our
4:04
production set I was tell you guys about
4:05
earlier looks like Jennifer's gotten C
4:07
to drive through it you would turn right
4:10
into there and you would actually enter
4:12
into the scary depths of catastrophe
4:16
Canyon ah memories basically the way the
4:20
whole operation worked was the tram
4:22
would have pulled in so the tram would
4:24
have been pulling in there gone in your
4:27
tram would have actually circled around
4:29
and parked directly underneath this so
4:33
at any given time a younger Adam the woo
4:36
that's me would have been on a tram
4:39
waiting for all the operation to start
4:42
it would have started with the tram
4:44
shaking
4:55
okay fire would erupt from the truck the
4:55
truck is still there the
4:57
18-wheeler still there that truck would
5:00
catch on fire you can actually
5:03
see you can actually see the burn marks
5:06
on the back of the
5:16
truck then you would have had some water
5:16
come flowing over the top of these
5:19
Boulders and these mountainous regions
5:34
that truck would then slide towards the
5:34
tram scaring the snot out of not only me
5:38
but everyone else on the attraction you
5:41
look very closely through this fence you
5:43
can actually see the sign there the
5:47
light that had a green and a red light
5:49
that would actually let the tram Riders
5:52
know or the tram coordinator know if
5:56
they were allowed to go in or out
5:58
letting you know that there was another
5:59
tra R in there you can see it do you see
6:02
it there it's actually right
6:04
there pretty cool can't tell you how
6:07
many countless times I turned that
6:10
corner in a tram waiting to be terrified
6:14
by what lied in
6:26
store catastrophe Canyon is a huge piece
6:26
of my childhood and I'm super glad for
6:29
now that still exist and we can get a
6:31
bird's eye public view of this fantastic
6:35
Walt Disney World MGM Hollywood Studios
6:40
historical
6:42
attraction I am honestly besid myself
6:45
with excitement because this brings me
6:47
back to my teenage
6:56
years thanks for watching this video on
6:56
the abandoned catastrophe Canyon who
6:58
knows how long it's actually going to
7:00
exist hidden behind the car lights motor
7:03
action show this whole area supposedly
7:06
is on The Chopping BL block for
7:08
continual plans of what is going to
7:10
happen here at Hollywood Studios in the
7:11
future so I wanted to get one last look
7:14
sa my last goodbye to the former Backlot
7:17
catastrophe Canyon and you do realize
7:20
that this used to be the original
7:22
Backlot tour Road you would actually
7:24
come out of catastrophe Canyon go up and
7:27
see New York Street and you would see
7:29
all the other houses that used to be in
7:31
here the houses have been removed and
7:33
replaced with this and it's only a
7:35
matter of time before catastrophe Canyon
7:37
which we have just seen from the top of
7:40
the stadium is also removed leave some
7:42
comments down below about your memories
7:44
of catastrophe Canyon or any other
7:46
things that's on your mind we will read
7:47
the comments I will reply to some
7:49
comments thanks for watching also check
7:51
out my other channel it's called The
7:52
Daily woo and I'll see you in the next
7:54
video
7:59
goodbye that is a piece of of my
7:59
childhood right there when the tram
8:01
would actually go around this back road
8:03
they would show you how the canyon was
8:05
actually made how it really was not Rock
8:08
movie Magic this excited me more than
8:10
you can ever imagine as a child being a
8:13
fan of movies and how TV shows and
8:15
commercials were made this place
8:18
MGM in 1989 1990 the first time I showed
8:22
up here really changed my life for the
8:25
better and I have this place to than and
8:28
I have in a in a weird special way I
8:30
have catastrophe Canyon to thank for a
8:32
big part of
