0:00 welcome everyone added the Wu here as a
0:03 recording of this it is Tuesday June the
0:05 13th 2023 wearing an appropriate shirt
0:09 and hat because I am going to see the
0:12 Tampa Bay Rays tonight in Oakland
0:14 California
0:17 355 miles one way from where I am right
0:21 now in the parking structure at my hotel
0:23 in Hollywood
0:25 and the fun fact is I have to go up
0:28 there
0:29 watch the game turn around and come back
0:31 here because I already had this hotel
0:34 booked
0:36 but today is a historic occasion for
0:39 baseball and for the Oakland days even
0:42 though I am rooting for the Rays
0:45 I will be there to document and
0:47 experience
0:48 one of the most interesting games
0:53 dare I say festivities and events that's
0:56 taking place in Oakland in a long time
0:59 I'm inviting you to join me I got to get
1:02 going it's about 8 A.M first pitch is at
1:04 6 40. the tailgating begins around three
1:08 Jordan
1:14 got a long way to go round trip shall
1:15 you hopefully traffic is very kind this
1:17 is a very impulsive last minute trip up
1:20 here just decided two days ago
1:23 when I kind of caught wind to this
1:26 event was going on that I was going to
1:28 head up this direction
1:29 very impulsive
1:37 looks like it's going to be a really
1:37 good drive stopping off at the first
1:40 little stretch of the day I think that's
1:42 for like for ashtrays though any pay
1:45 phones here oh my gosh
1:47 there are actual pay phones here
1:50 three of them
1:56 not expecting
1:56 prepay phones I always like to drink and
1:58 snack machines
2:00 incarcerated over here
2:03 I don't know what they did was probably
2:05 pretty bad just to give a little
2:06 paraphrase calm context on what's going
2:09 to be happening at the Oakland Coliseum
2:11 when I get there so on a Tuesday as a
2:13 recording of This their average
2:15 attendance for their baseball games is
2:16 about three to four thousand people they
2:18 have the worst attendance in baseball
2:20 kind of comparable to Tropicana Field
2:23 and and their turnout even though the
2:25 race are doing really good right now so
2:26 their attendance has gone up but in the
2:28 past people don't really show up for the
2:30 team the difference between the Rays and
2:33 Oakland is most of the fans there have
2:36 not gone to support the team not because
2:39 they do not love baseball but because
2:41 there is discrepancies and they do not
2:43 care for the current owner so they have
2:46 not been going but they are reversing
2:47 that today and proving a point that
2:50 there are fans of the open days and
2:53 they're going to show up in droves they
2:55 want to fill the stadium I don't think
2:56 the stadium will be a sellout but from
2:58 what I was reading online and listening
3:00 to
3:01 they are projecting 20 000 people five
3:05 times the normal amount that you would
3:07 see in the Coliseum
3:09 on a Tuesday now not a lot of time to
3:12 stop because I got a lot of miles to
3:13 cover but I always like this place Bravo
3:15 Farms over here it's just kind of a
3:19 unique spot off of the freeway got a
3:22 windmill there there's a a shack
3:25 up top there water wheel it's got the
3:28 self-pumping gas nozzle and very
3:31 inexpensive gasoline I'm being very
3:36 sarcastic six dollars okay 87. I rest
3:40 assured this is I'll have a coffee now
3:42 I'll go to the game later and I'm sure
3:44 on the way back 335 miles back to
3:48 Hollywood I will need another one so
3:51 cheers to the first coffee of this
3:54 probably a 24-hour Day by the time I
3:55 woke up by time I get back to my hotel
3:57 later cheers so here's some of the info
4:00 again this is just going off what is
4:02 posted
4:03 uh on the web
4:05 so June 13th get your tickets
4:09 join us to voice frustration about the
4:11 A's ownership at MLB supporters of the
4:13 Oakland Athletics are calling on all
4:15 Baseball fans that's me
4:17 support us on an ongoing battle with the
4:19 team's neglectful
4:22 and irresponsible ownership again this
4:24 this is going off of what is stated here
4:26 I hope to get a little more info when I
4:28 get there there's going to be a tailgate
4:31 happening as well and they're going to
4:33 be giving away the t-shirts over here
4:36 and Lot B
4:38 again
4:39 more info when I get there hope to talk
4:41 to people give me some more info about
4:42 what's really going on down the road a
4:45 little bit pulling into one of my
4:47 favorite spots was a little bumpy
4:49 favorite spots when making the commute
4:51 from LA to San Francisco
4:53 Anderson's pea soup
4:56 restaurants now we'll not be dining in
4:59 don't really have the time for that but
5:01 one thing I'll do occasionally when I
5:03 pass through this area is I'll buy a
5:05 small case of the canned Anderson pea
5:09 soup crushed soup keep finding more info
5:11 about this event
5:13 so they're wanting everyone to be as
5:14 loud as possible the last dive bar is a
5:17 nickname given to the Coliseum because
5:19 when you're in there it feels like
5:21 you're in the the last Dive Bar first
5:23 batter at the beginning and top of each
5:25 inning they want everyone to you know
5:27 all the all the A's fans are going to
5:28 are going to be chanting sell the team
5:30 sell the team first batter at the
5:32 beginning at the bottom of each inning
5:33 say stay in Oakland clap five times for
5:36 the first pad at the beginning of the
5:37 top of the fifth inning to honor 55
5:39 years in Oakland
5:40 everyone stand up be completely silent
5:43 for the entire Advent
6:05 feel like I made pretty good time it's 2
6:05 40 right now there's actually a concert
6:08 going on at the other venue here on the
6:10 property but notice how the sign says
6:12 rooted in Oakland since 68. and I don't
6:15 know all the ins and outs and all the
6:16 kind of red tape and the behind the
6:18 scenes on the whole situation but it
6:20 pretty much just proves that any team is
6:22 not always constantly going to be in the
6:25 same spot forever and you have you know
6:27 you have the Die Hard fans have been
6:28 around for a long time and this place
6:30 means a lot to us I could totally get
6:32 where a lot of people are coming from I
6:33 really can't and there's an incredible
6:35 amount of History here you know I think
6:36 back to like the bash Brothers Canseco
6:38 Mark McGuire the Money Ball era all that
6:41 and a lot more but those are the first
6:42 two things that come to my mind as a
6:45 baseball fan when I think of the stadium
6:46 and obviously I'm rooting for the Rays
6:49 but if the Oakland A's were to win
6:51 tonight I wouldn't be too bummed this is
6:53 kind of their last hurray they're not
6:55 making it to the postseason well it's a
6:57 really good chance they're not making it
6:59 to the postseason this year and who
7:00 knows if they're even going to play here
7:02 next year so this might be the biggest
7:04 attended game that this team will have
7:08 until the well probably the last game
7:10 when they finally announced the last
7:11 game in here but in a lot of ways this
7:14 is the Oakland days last hurray
7:16 attendance wise one thing that's nice
7:18 about this is you get the train station
7:19 drops off right here at the stadium
7:22 and you can see where it says rooted
7:24 right down there
7:26 and Roscoe Soul Train is here yeah Daddy
7:29 local resident kind of sort of local
7:31 pretty close you're pretty close you're
7:32 wearing you're wearing full on Oakland
7:34 gear Old School Oakland gear 100
7:36 committed to Xmas so if the A's leave
7:40 it'll be the third team that Oakland has
7:42 lost pro team yeah it's pretty sad it's
7:44 really sad actually I have a lot to say
7:46 about it but as a fan of sports like
7:49 yourself Adam yeah it's uh can you
7:51 imagine if your favorite team just
7:53 decided to just dip out and go to Vegas
7:55 and I would understand to a certain
7:56 extent but being like a hardcore fan of
7:59 a team it's almost like being a part of
8:01 a cult it's a bummer there's a big
8:02 bummer yeah it's a loss for Oakland it's
8:04 a loss of the Bay Area and it's I'm
8:06 pretty buttered about it even though I'm
8:08 not a hardcore baseball fan yeah you're
8:11 a hockey guy hockey guy yeah so I can't
8:13 even imagine I just put myself in the
8:14 shoes of the fans of the Oakland A's and
8:17 I which I know a lot of and uh yeah
8:19 heartbreaking to say the least
8:31 this is pretty wild these are the seats
8:31 from some of the upper decks of the
8:33 Coliseum right there I'm not sure what
8:35 section it was but they're just like
8:36 sitting over here
8:38 rotting away back in
8:40 back here around the back look at that
8:42 whole thing is kind of interesting too
8:44 that I'm excited about the drummers are
8:46 back for one night only the drummers
8:48 have not been here at the Coliseum this
8:50 year and now they have returned and they
8:53 will be out I believe it's in right
8:54 field so I want to like kind of show
8:55 them too so they've been making some
8:57 noise out there
8:58 and right all right I want to introduce
9:00 Dylan from something or other tour I met
9:02 you last time I was out here last year
9:04 we had a good time the Rays came back
9:06 and won they did oh yeah you got some
9:08 good you got some good excitement on my
9:10 end in your video yeah I think that was
9:12 the most exciting I've ever seen you
9:14 all right they got the corn hole out
9:16 here
9:40 I need
9:40 you all right
9:46 and as of right now I think I'm the only
9:46 one for obvious reasons wearing blue and
9:49 raised gear but I hit my shirt sitting
9:52 right behind raise Dugout also got cheer
9:55 car schedule game guys okay cool anyone
9:58 needs one yeah sure card Alex
10:01 there you go grab it Alex is here there
10:05 you go I got the cheer card these shirts
10:08 are going fast you got your shirt yeah I
10:10 got the XL you know nice I need to uh
10:13 hit the treadmill you got your shirt I
10:15 think they only have extra large and
10:17 large all right I want to introduce you
10:18 to Gabe he runs a YouTube channel called
10:20 gamer Athletics right yes and you just
10:23 hit 5 000 subscribers I did 5K yeah on
10:26 this uh well it causes a historic day
10:28 give me a little information about this
10:30 event that's going on uh well as uh many
10:33 of you may know the azer
10:35 planning on believe and today is an
10:38 important day because we're just trying
10:39 to voice our frustrations and prove to
10:41 the world that there are eight minutes
10:43 here and I mean if this doesn't show for
10:45 it I mean I don't know what will right
10:46 we raised over five twenty five thousand
10:49 dollars to raise uh to get uh over 7 000
10:52 shirts here so do our own giveaway and I
10:55 mean I'm a self-team John do the right
10:57 thing I mean what else so basically what
11:00 you're saying you would rather the owner
11:01 sell the team so the team can so another
11:03 owner can keep them in Oakland versus
11:06 them going to Vegas that's what the
11:09 that's what the cell means correct
11:10 that's what the cell means okay gotcha
11:12 you know whether they do leave whether
11:14 this you know whether they leave or stay
11:17 our Ace bands here we do care and we're
11:19 gonna prove that tonight gotcha good to
11:22 see you man there you go I got the clown
11:24 nose on there
11:26 thanks man
11:33 there you go yeah watch out for the wind
11:39 all right right over here
11:39 getting off of the subway area
11:41 's belonging to Oakland for our city for
11:44 our team forever
11:46 and the 68s that's when the team started
11:50 that's the organization that's kind of
11:51 putting a lot of this on too
11:55 they even got a little stanchions and
11:58 everything over here too
12:00 look at that look at how many people
12:02 are in here C green cell shirts they
12:06 even got some old Raider Flags there as
12:09 well and the athletic Flags wave it in
12:11 the breeze very nice weather out here
12:13 too
12:39 thank you
13:04 we're good
13:04 so you got married here when Oakland was
13:06 playing the race how many years ago
13:08 that's 25 years ago this year 25 years
13:10 ago to the ace game in the
13:13 unless they're out of town and
13:15 everywhere you know a lot you have a lot
13:17 of memories here a lot of memories all
13:20 right well nice to meet you
13:46 it is
13:46 yeah
14:19 that is awesome
14:22 man I was hoping there'd be some uh some
14:24 bass brother references out here this
14:27 guy's got the bass brother arms Canseco
14:29 Maguire late 80s
14:31 you know
14:33 you don't want to sell there like save
14:35 yourself and say whatever you got going
14:36 on
14:44 everybody's normal
14:44 I want everybody to be happy here but
14:45 you can't
15:54 all right I believe that now the gates
15:54 are about to open so you can see how
15:55 people are still down there want to head
15:57 in and get the get the vibe in the
16:00 stadium now there's a lot of people over
16:01 at the tailgate all right I have
16:03 purchased my meal of the day I'm going
16:05 with the A's helmet nachos uh they had
16:09 pulled pork but I opted for the shredded
16:11 chicken I believe it'd be grilled
16:13 chicken shredded grilled chicken yeah
16:15 this is uh this would be my meal here
16:18 and a couple bottles of water as well a
16:21 little uh Dasani here your cheese run it
16:24 over right there very nice
16:28 helmet nachos
16:30 for the winter Cheers Cheers all right
16:32 we're not with Alex what about I wonder
16:35 if he got nachos did you get nachos too
16:37 oh yeah we're gonna have a three-way
16:40 oh yeah there we go
16:46 together I shouldn't be talking let's
16:46 get a three-way uh little uh little tag
16:48 is here pump it up please
16:55 all right it's definitely not sold out
16:57 but there's definitely a lot more people
16:58 than there usually is
17:00 all right first batter at the beginning
17:38 one thing I love about this stadium is
17:38 How Low Down The Dugout is you could
17:41 just see Kevin cash right there
17:58 it's the Bottom now our bottom excuse me
18:25 I got excited about a pop-up the center
18:28 yeah we were noticing that everyone was
18:30 doing the chance
18:32 music up louder
18:40 didn't work though yeah
18:50 investment s
18:53 without their Channing stay in Oakland
19:11 but is that hair right there a piece of
19:11 Harold Ramirez's blue hair
19:26 foreign
20:38 obviously the Tropicana field has their
20:38 Upper Deck tarped off too because whole
20:42 section up here
20:45 Raleigh fingers Stewart Hunter kind of
20:50 accuracy Ricky Henderson
20:52 Janet Jackson I guess Jack White's out
20:55 there I guess Seven Nation Army
21:02 they did show Billy Joe from Green Day
21:02 he's here can't figure out where he's
21:04 sitting though they shut him on the
21:05 jungle
21:29 right it's down top of the fifth you
21:29 know everyone's supposed to stand oh
21:31 they are standing stand up you're
21:33 supposed to stand up
21:35 everybody's standing up
22:16 that's a base hit that's a double for
22:16 Siri
23:10 I don't think the pitcher can hear I
23:10 don't think he can hear himself
23:15 he'll think that pitcher can hear
23:15 anything
23:37 miles
23:56 so evidently the owner John Fisher his
23:56 face is on the juveniles in the bathroom
23:59 the guy just told me
24:03 that's right he's into it
24:10 he's into it
24:12 this is insane this makes sense yeah
24:15 absolutely
24:18 and the Rays coming in
24:21 one to nothing
24:24 during that channel I was looking all
24:26 the guys in the in the Dugout and all of
24:29 them were looking at each other like
24:30 what in the name of heck is going on
24:33 it was so loud in here but the up called
24:37 time and went out and talked to the
24:38 pitcher
25:07 the banjo yeah the banjo guy who knows
25:07 that guy's name he was always at the
25:09 Niner games back in the day at
25:10 candlesticks they always had the A's
25:12 games as well I always thought I don't
25:15 understand
26:27 all right
26:40 and you told me the wave started here 81
26:44 1981. oh yeah
26:47 hi crazy George who has returned yeah
26:57 the wave started in Oakland I never knew
26:57 that in 1981.
27:48 one to one place is coming alive
27:48 of course poche's on the mouth
28:03 parade is a third missed it foreign
28:39 I got him
29:04 he's going through the exit door
29:14 this is like Bedlam in here Bedlam in
29:14 Oakland
29:48 on more strike in Oakland has done this
29:54 they've made history I'm here for it
30:04 you got this one that's it
30:04 Oakland just wins the busiest game
30:07 they've had in years
30:09 after the game even though the open days
30:11 one
30:12 everyone here that's rooting for the ace
30:14 is like throwing stuff on the field just
30:16 throwing trash out into the left and
30:18 right field full beer bottles water
30:20 bottles
30:21 toilet paper trash I feel sorry for the
30:25 ground Street that's a clean all that up
30:27 they're working on the diamond but the
30:28 Outfield is completely trash just
30:31 throwing all kinds of trash out all on
30:32 the field which is kind of weird
30:34 considering they won but you know
30:36 obviously a lot of unhappy people the
30:38 whole the whole event itself center
30:40 around not being happy with you're the
30:43 owner and the team and they want them to
30:45 sell the team that way they don't move
30:46 to Vegas stay here so you can see people
30:49 definitely people are definitely showing
30:50 their emotions
30:51 for understandable reasons
30:54 to be honest I'm kind of I mean I wanted
30:57 to raise to 100 but I think if any night
31:00 the open days who are in last place in
31:04 the division
31:05 could get a win on this night this is I
31:07 think it's good for everyone that was
31:08 here to have a to have a good night so I
31:11 think it worked out pretty good
31:37 all right that's going to do it for
31:37 today now I gotta drive all the way back
31:38 to Hollywood
31:41 but it was fun
31:43 my friend Alex had to leave he had to go
31:44 to work so I hit Alex up and I hit
31:47 Roscoe up two days ago to give you guys
31:49 notice I'm glad you guys made it out
31:50 yeah man thanks for inviting me you
31:52 witnessed history and that was one of
31:53 the best baseball games I've ever seen
31:54 in my entire life and what a crazy
31:55 atmosphere and it sucks for Oakland I
31:57 mean I've seen other cities rebound from
32:00 weirdness like Detroit for instance and
32:03 you know think about that City there's
32:04 there's four teams that all play in
32:07 Detroit and Detroit had
32:09 hundreds of thousands of people that
32:10 left Oakland San Francisco hundreds of
32:13 thousands of people that have left and
32:15 they're still there's still people here
32:17 and it's not this town isn't dead but it
32:21 sucks to see these companies just taking
32:24 their the teams away from these cities
32:25 when there's plenty of there's plenty of
32:27 people here that'll support us oh yeah
32:29 as shown tonight there's probably twenty
32:30 three twenty four thousand people here
32:32 and I just think that people just don't
32:33 want to come to the Coliseum if you make
32:35 this place cool then it will it will
32:37 draw the people well not to have a
32:40 comparison a Tropicana Field Tampa Bay
32:42 we have the same issue there so yeah I
32:44 get it people just like to people like
32:46 to make excuses and whatnot but
32:47 obviously tonight they showed up because
32:49 it was the reverse boycott yeah all
32:52 right I gotta get to driving I got a 360
32:54 mile commute home I'll see you the next
32:57 video
32:58 good hanging thanks man appreciate you
33:01 A's up it's usually it's raised up buddy
33:04 give it to the A's tonight
33:06 the Vlog is over oh nailed it
33:17 in all honesty
33:17 720 miles or 730 miles
33:21 trip back and forth
33:24 impulse to go to a game
33:34 sometimes it happens
33:34 after a very long drive
33:38 returning back to my hotel
33:47 what a commute
33:47 but I did it
