0:04 well i'm gonna take a little break from
0:07 continuing to downsize here at the
0:09 homestead
0:10 and i realized i have not had
0:13 an in-n-out burger since i've returned
0:17 to southern california in fact it was
0:19 even a couple months
0:20 prior to me departing to florida so it's
0:23 probably been
0:24 three maybe four months or more
0:28 since i have had one of those tasty
0:30 burgers
0:31 and fries i'm gonna go through a
0:33 drive-through find a park
0:36 a place to sit and consume one of my
0:40 favorite california
0:44 meals i'm inviting you to join me
0:47 shall you that's right big the foot i
0:50 almost
0:50 always go with a double double and
0:54 animal style fries and i think i will
0:56 again today
0:57 gonna go with the one on the corner of
0:58 state college and
1:00 ball road
1:05 you can see i'm not the only one with
1:05 this idea it is
1:06 it's always very lengthy and today is no
1:10 exception
1:12 the drive-through line i'm referring to
1:15 and there's an employee out taking the
1:16 order
1:16 you don't necessarily have to go up to
1:18 the window they have someone walk out
1:20 just to kind of expedite
1:22 the process and even though there is a
1:24 lot of vehicles in this
1:26 does move very quickly i've always
1:27 noticed every time it goes
1:30 it kind of goes at a pretty rapid pace
1:32 it's all fresh
1:33 it's all made fresh they do it quickly
1:36 i don't believe during this time period
1:38 that indoor dining
1:39 is allotted or allowed i believe it's
1:42 only drive through
1:45 as i sit here i'm just kind of looking
1:46 over at the building itself
1:49 just waiting to move forward
2:06 i'm kind of wondering how do i how do i
2:06 procure a ride or be able to borrow
2:10 the in and out van that could really
2:13 help me with with moving some stuff
2:15 i could take that out to florida they
2:17 would all the florida folk would be very
2:18 surprised when i
2:19 crossed the state line and an in and out
2:22 van
2:22 because they don't have them out there
2:24 on the east coast
2:26 also you'll notice these split palm
2:27 trees there on the far end
2:29 that's kind of a staple at all of the
2:31 locations they always have a split palm
2:33 tree
2:33 in the yard true story now i did order
2:36 back there but here's a look at the
2:37 pricing board i got the double double i
2:39 got a vanilla shake
2:41 i got a large water and i got animal
2:43 style fries
2:44 even some teeny tiny small palm trees
2:47 here this always reminds me of it's a
2:48 mad madman mad mad world the
2:50 the big w which is like that right there
2:52 it looks like that's a
2:53 that's a small w this is a look at the
2:56 receipt
2:57 i went through the first window i'm just
2:59 waiting on the second window to get my
3:00 food
3:02 but this is the total 7.75
3:06 sales tax here in town
3:09 oh yeah now rolling over to a spot where
3:12 i can
3:14 consume this see i'm moving based on the
3:17 shadows
3:19 that's how you know the car is rolling
3:20 going forward
3:23 and the traffic that's about to pull out
3:24 now about to pull out here
3:26 i have chosen this place there's a
3:28 rocket over there
3:30 at that little that little area but i am
3:32 not going towards the rocket i am
3:35 heading towards these picnic tables
3:38 i'm gonna find this guy get this spot
3:40 right here
3:46 yeah this works or maybe that one by the
3:46 road
3:47 and this is like a little more in the
3:48 shade this works
3:50 quality you can taste since 1948
3:53 a couple different bags i was given and
3:55 a couple different cups with the
3:57 beverages
3:57 this would be the vanilla shake this is
4:00 what we're dealing with
4:01 the water which is well i don't think
4:03 they charge me for the water because
4:05 it's not a bottled water
4:06 so you can get a free cup of water the
4:08 shake was a couple bucks
4:10 inside here got the napkins and an item
4:14 and inside here that's probably going to
4:16 be
4:17 the animal style fry so this would be
4:20 the double double let me unwrap this and
4:22 get it going
4:23 what the heck exactly is animal style
4:26 you might be asking yourself
4:27 this is animal style and you can also
4:30 get it on the burger i did not opt for
4:32 animal style
4:33 on the burger itself but i did get the
4:36 the sliced
4:37 full size onion and a lot of extra
4:41 cheese
4:42 now the way i've heard the way it's
4:43 explained to me animal style has
4:45 these kind of diced type of onions here
4:49 and a secret sauce which kind of
4:51 resembles
4:52 a thousand island dressing
4:56 i think that's a lot of places secret
4:58 sauce but they douse it
4:59 on the freshly cut if you've ever been
5:02 inside
5:03 they cut the fries right in front of you
5:06 they don't it's they're not just sitting
5:07 there frozen they are fresh they take
5:09 the potato
5:10 and they put it through the little
5:12 little cruncher and go
5:17 crunch it down and i'm about to crunch
5:17 down
5:18 i'm about to crunch down on this because
5:19 this is this is much needed
5:22 this is for my own personal well-being
5:25 of my thought process not the most
5:27 healthy meal
5:28 the cow i don't even want to know what
5:29 the calories are on this
5:31 but heck it i'm going in
5:34 in and out now it is the age
5:37 debate is
5:40 this fast food you want to call it fast
5:42 food it is glorious
5:44 in my opinion is this establishment
5:48 in and out can i get the bag here can i
5:51 even hold this here i'm trying to get
5:52 everything in the frame for a good
5:54 little little photo op
5:56 is there we go there that's a good one
5:59 all right can i you know i'm trying to
6:00 like put this against my chin
6:02 it looks like i'm wearing a having like
6:04 a bib on there we go
6:11 that's a good one i got it all whoa
6:11 someone's driving very fast they might
6:13 be heading over to the drive-through now
6:15 as well the age-old question the debate
6:18 is
6:18 this establishment in and out burger
6:21 does it live up to the hype
6:23 is it really as good
6:26 as people say it is what's my thoughts
6:30 thanks for asking because i'm going to
6:32 explain what explain them right now
6:34 i love this place
6:38 yes that is a tasty looking burger yes
6:41 that is a
6:42 delicious delicacy all its own there
6:45 lathered up in the goodness but it is
6:48 more than just
6:49 the deliciousness of the food for me it
6:52 has a lot to do
6:53 with memories and
6:56 past experiences with people that i care
6:59 about
7:00 family friends loved ones acquaintances
7:03 that i have taken to many
7:07 many in and outs over my lifetime
7:10 so combining the taste of these items
7:14 along with you know the past and some
7:17 nostalgia
7:18 it's a win-win dare i say
7:25 the best fast food fast food restaurant
7:25 out there at least in southern
7:26 california
7:28 when you think of socat well all of
7:29 california when you think of california
7:31 you think of a lot of things you think
7:33 of the beaches think of
7:35 griffith observatory chinese theater
7:37 hollywood boulevard
7:39 and you also think well i do
7:43 of in and out it is almost it's a it's
7:45 it is
7:46 it is as california as california
7:52 gets anthony bourdain did a review
7:56 one time it's pretty good you could look
7:57 it up where
7:59 he stated you know he hated a lot of
8:01 places anthony bourdain was a very
8:03 well traveled man and went and ate a lot
8:06 of different
8:07 a lot of different places i ate a lot of
8:08 burgers ate a lot of other types of food
8:11 and he said he would stay at these
8:12 upscale i'm paraphrasing
8:14 anthony bourdain let me go in
8:26 oh yeah i am back
8:30 in california that right there sealed
8:33 the deal
8:41 anthony bourdain one time did a review
8:41 while he was eating the same burger i am
8:42 well it might not have been a double
8:44 double it was a sandwich
8:48 and he stated that he would stay in
8:48 these very upscale
8:50 hotels and he would go out eat these
8:53 restaurants
8:55 people knew him as a kind of upscale
8:57 food reviewer
8:59 trap and world traveler if he would show
9:02 back
9:03 up to these upscale hotels and walk
9:05 through the lobby
9:07 the people that worked in the hotels
9:08 would see him walking in with
9:10 burger king mcdonald's taco bell they
9:13 would kind of give him like a little bit
9:14 of a
9:16 kind of like a snooty look like what are
9:19 you doing
9:19 bringing that in our fine hotel
9:23 but when he would bring in once again on
9:26 paraphrasing
9:27 when he would bring in an in-n-out bag
9:29 no matter how nice the hotel was
9:32 everyone would kind of give him the
9:35 yeah you know what's up
9:38 that says a lot about when you're a fast
9:40 food place and you can get away with
9:41 that
9:43 i always recall that i always think
9:44 about that that little bit that review
9:46 when i bite into these
10:01 had a couple people walk by already over
10:02 in the distance
10:03 and all of them do a double take like
10:04 what are you eating oh you're eating in
10:06 and out
10:08 another fun story years ago
10:11 i was traveling and i had an in and out
10:14 bag
10:15 that was that was using for other stuff
10:18 to store batteries or something and i
10:19 can't remember what i'm keeping in them
10:20 for my camera when i was stopping to
10:22 fuel up i was getting gas
10:37 and i was somewhere close to the east
10:37 coast i can't remember what state it was
10:39 in
10:39 but nowhere near the west coast someone
10:43 came over to my car
10:45 walked out of the gas station i said
10:48 where did you get that in and out
10:50 is there in and out around here they
10:51 were almost in a frantic
10:53 panic i said no it's not in and out of
10:56 here like keeping other things in the
10:58 they said you almost made me lose my
10:59 mind i thought i was back in in and out
11:02 territory
11:02 that is how well known it is now this is
11:05 just my opinion
11:07 i have taken many uh many guests
11:11 here man they didn't like it they
11:13 thought it was it was not all it was
11:15 cracked up the hype was too strong they
11:16 heard too much about it
11:18 they talked about a million other places
11:20 that are better and that might be true
11:23 but it is one of my favorite hamburgers
11:26 i'm gonna go on record saying it there
11:28 there's just something about the sauce
11:31 the bread the lettuce the fresh
11:33 ingredients the onions everything
11:35 combined
11:36 makes up what could be for me adam the
11:39 whoop
11:40 the perfect hamburger now i've had other
11:42 hamburgers that
11:44 dare i say are more meaty more filled
11:46 with ingredients
11:47 but those are good too but when it comes
11:50 to a quick service
11:51 fast food you know my answer
12:13 happy right now
12:16 i have other friends who have moved out
12:17 of california moved off the west coast
12:21 live back in florida on the east coast
12:23 now and
12:24 all of them everyone
12:28 always say that one of the things they
12:29 miss most about the west coast
12:36 is this and honestly a lot of that
12:36 probably also stems on what i was saying
12:38 you know nostalgia they could have grown
12:40 up here this is what they were they were
12:42 used to having it was just a part of
12:44 their lives
12:44 so there is that element whatever it is
12:48 you have to decide you have to make the
12:49 decision is in and out worth waiting
12:52 in a long drive-through line that moves
12:54 rather quickly here's another thing i
12:56 have been to other places
12:58 i don't want to name too many names but
13:00 you know your their your
13:01 your other staff well i've already
13:03 mentioned them so i'll mention we've got
13:04 burger king mcdonald's
13:05 those type of places carl's jr and the
13:07 line gets really long
13:09 sometimes 10 cars long you know you're
13:11 going to be waiting a while
13:13 but at a c at a in and out when it's 30
13:16 cars long
13:17 it moves quicker than a 10 car line at
13:20 another place
13:21 it could just be in my mind but i don't
13:23 feel like i wait that long
13:26 for one of these it's just the bread the
13:28 meat fell off but
13:33 put some sauce on it i still got to go
13:34 on the animal style fries
13:39 this isn't probably the most exciting
13:41 episode
13:43 nor am i really reinventing the wheel
13:46 with this one
13:47 but i felt like doing this today i felt
13:49 like having in and out
13:52 i wonder how many times i can say those
13:53 words
13:55 maybe it's like beetlejuice if i say it
13:57 enough
13:58 another one will appear even though i'm
14:00 getting kind of full
14:33 probably the the words that get tossed
14:33 around most when comparing to this
14:39 there's five guys there might be another
14:39 one too you always hear five guys five
14:41 guys is better
14:42 i love five guys burgers it's not really
14:47 not really comparative i'm gonna say
14:50 like what's better walt disney world or
14:51 disneyland
14:52 they're two different things they're
14:55 both great
14:56 in their own ways
14:59 but i have no i have no attachment to
15:02 five guys other than
15:03 it's a good burger trying to think of
15:06 the other
15:07 other place that a lot of people will
15:08 compare i seem to have lost
15:11 a piece of lettuce
15:20 but that's okay there's also a secret
15:20 menu i have i have done videos
15:22 on this place before it's been a while
15:24 different types
15:26 but nothing really making the statement
15:29 is it worth the height should you go yes
15:34 if you visit california put this on your
15:37 list
15:38 do it try it make your own decision
15:42 i think i'm shattered out here there it
15:44 goes it's a little shattered out there
15:46 with the camera
15:47 corrected itself i could go
15:51 animal style or non-animal style to be
15:53 honest
15:55 i always do it because i really like
15:57 cheese i love the cheese
16:00 the mince crushed onions like this i
16:03 prefer the one on the burger better
16:05 than this but these are good
16:08 now the completely honest first couple
16:12 times i went to
16:14 i went to in-n-out i was on tour with
16:16 the band
16:18 finally came through california got in
16:20 and out for the first time i was in love
16:22 with the hamburger didn't like the fries
16:24 but the fries were a little too
16:26 different for me but now they have grown
16:28 on me
16:32 and i like them fries the fact that they
16:32 are are really
16:34 freshly made has a lot to do with it it
16:36 kind of threw me off
16:38 the first time
16:46 yeah and i always like to polish it off
16:46 with the shake
16:49 not the best shakes on earth i would say
16:51 the shakes are not as
16:53 epic as the food items but they're not
16:56 bad
16:57 it is a nice delicious nice delicious
17:00 treat
17:01 to top it off something for the old
17:04 sweet dude
17:06 i sound really happy and if you're
17:08 wondering why
17:09 it's because i am happy
17:12 who could not be with this i also have
17:14 to wonder if that has something to do
17:16 with the infrequency of how many times
17:18 i'll go here i don't do it often so when
17:21 it happens
17:23 it's kind of a nice moment it's kind of
17:24 a special occasion
17:28 if i ate this every day it would
17:30 probably lose its energy
17:32 and i would lose my excitement my taste
17:35 buds
17:35 would get used to it but because it's
17:37 only every few months
17:40 it's always good fresh tomatoes fresh
17:52 worth it it's like 12 bucks for all this
17:52 12 bucks
17:56 i've beaten the places twice as much
17:58 they weren't half as good
18:01 just topping off the water there got my
18:04 trash
18:04 got ready to go over to the receptacle
18:06 and throw this away
18:08 and then go right into
18:12 the vanilla while i'm sitting here
18:14 someone a couple tables over
18:15 near closer to the road is having an
18:18 intimate moment a couple
18:20 and you have to wonder if it's because
18:22 of the smell the beautiful smell that
18:24 wafted from this
18:25 got them excited now it's nothing to
18:26 nothing too crazy it was just some
18:28 hugging and kissing
18:29 etc but that did not happen
18:32 until they walked by it could have been
18:35 i'm just just saying i don't know
18:41 of course i'm not gonna turn the camera
18:41 around and show what's going on but
18:44 all right heading out that's gonna do it
18:47 for today
18:49 oh this was a this was a good decision
18:56 you got to give it some bumps to get it
18:56 to your straw
19:09 that is good i'm going to say
19:09 in my top 10 shakes not number one but
