good morning starting the day off right
0:03
with a little breakfast pecking it some
0:05
worms or maybe some some grass perhaps
0:09
oh whoa
0:10
careful slow calm down today's adventure
0:13
brings us to Stone Mountain Park and
0:15
here is a map a layout of the land
0:18
perhaps first things first
0:21
gonna go up the sky ride to the top of
0:25
the gigantic Rock
0:27
welcome everyone Adam the whoo here and
0:30
I am joined by quite a few other
0:32
gentlemen who appear to me yes yes
0:35
they're filming me aren't they
0:39
join me shall you we're now boarding
0:43
this particular vehicle it's very nice
0:49
up there on top of the rocks we found a
0:50
light breeze head - velvet Mountain
0:52
which you'll start to feel as we picked
0:53
up speed from Webster right its
0:55
Jefferson Davis Robert Lee and Stonewall
0:57
Jackson start carving is 1998 and ever
1:02
sizes as steepest point 42 feet into the
1:05
mountain that chisel that area around it
1:07
is about three acres you can fit two
1:09
full-sized yellow school buses on the
1:12
back of the middle horse when you're
1:13
ready to come down just head into our
1:15
building there's an area next to the
1:17
gift shop that has a few benches please
1:19
wait inside until the conductor lets you
1:21
out to the car that's our shadow right
1:23
there you can see my shadow inside that
1:26
shadow we have to look very very
1:28
attentively
1:41
we've reached the top how many feet up
1:41
is this 1686 feet above sea level so we
1:47
are a heckuva way
1:54
currently located in the facility
1:54
pictured here now this is a photo from
1:57
2004 there's another one that dates back
2:00
to 1955 and you can see it's not quite
2:05
as developed back then the rock still
2:09
looks the same but everything around it
2:11
a little more barren leaving us up here
2:14
it's leaving us and there's another one
2:18
cruising up now pretty incredible how I
2:23
think you just Corrine up the side of
2:26
the hill warning do not go beyond this
2:28
fence violators will be prosecuted you
2:33
know it's a safety issue you don't want
2:34
to traverse over this side because she
2:37
would tumble down and it would not be
2:39
pretty now I heard at the bottom of that
2:42
Lake over there there's either some
2:45
buildings that are abandoned or some
2:47
sort of structure I've never confirmed
2:50
it if there's anything under the surface
2:52
of the water to stay hydrated I have
2:55
purchased a beverage that has a dinosaur
2:57
on the front of the company think we'll
2:59
see any dinosaurs out here babe a bike I
3:01
don't think we'll see any dinosaurs
3:02
maybe some dinosaur bones or maybe even
3:05
a dinosaur cup or maybe some footprints
3:09
we might possibly bring keep a keen eye
3:12
out for some I don't think that's what
3:14
these are I could be wrong actually how
3:17
do these holes get in here
3:19
they look like footprints but I think
3:21
maybe the weather helped create these
3:24
possibly I do not think the elements
3:27
carved the word Horace here however how
3:30
long do you think that's been in Grain
3:33
and carved in the rock I don't know how
3:34
long this one has been here but I've
3:35
seen carvings
3:37
this one's dated 1954 and off on the
3:42
distance they look closely you can see
3:45
on the rise in their downtown Atlanta
3:48
way over there if I had to guess
3:50
probably about 25 miles from here to the
3:54
city center you can see people are
3:57
hiking up the side from the ground level
4:00
to the tippy-top that would be a full
4:03
day plenty of places to hang out and
4:05
wander up here but there's not a whole
4:08
lot of shade except for a few trees that
4:11
are being utilized for photo
4:14
opportunities only a couple trees
4:18
sprouting out of a rock great great job
4:28
oh this was made in 1912 I did carpets
4:31
in here I was just a glimmer in my my
4:36
great-grandparents eyes incoming aerial
4:42
transportation as soon as it's stationed
4:45
we will be boarding it to head back down
4:49
to ground level
5:00
we're gonna start out slow as we head
5:00
towards that power when we go over the
5:02
tower the car does just a little bit of
5:04
a tilt and swing to make sure you're
5:06
holding on to something while you are
5:07
out on that mountain you should have
5:09
some seen a bunch of yellow flowers
5:11
those are the Stone Mountain yellow
5:13
daisies at the type of Daisy that can
5:15
only be found in this part of Georgia
5:35
we make just a little bit as we get I
5:35
think we might the tram vehicle in the
5:55
Pikachu have a good day
5:55
there we are those are some handsome
5:58
fellows that little Christmas ornament
6:00
here a coffee mug and even uh-huh
6:04
oh yeah it is it's a it's a Stone
6:06
Mountain baseball at the bottom looking
6:09
upward the guys riding their horses are
6:14
in the middle of the whole section that
6:16
was created for this very expansive
6:21
piece of art the side of this Boulder
6:23
you can see how far it stretches up and
6:27
down away from the figures themselves
6:33
it's huge just in comparison to the cars
6:38
going through the air up to the top just
6:44
shows how big this thing really is
7:08
all aboard two three ladies and
7:08
gentlemen that was weeks four hundred of
7:13
their on this train and I want to hear
7:15
every single one of you okay all aboard
7:18
all right everybody this is the Rock
7:20
Line Railroad
7:23
give it our best shot on the count of
7:24
three you can yell as loud as you want
7:27
on the count of three one two three so
7:33
Mountain is made up of magma and magma
7:36
lava that hasn't been exposed to the
7:38
Earth's surface yet so once upon a time
7:41
thousands and thousands of years ago
7:43
they shot up magma cooled about eight to
7:45
ten miles below the earth's crust
7:48
hey my solid
7:55
beautiful weathering and erosion and
7:55
eventually reveals what we now lovingly
7:57
call spell mountain so mountain is made
8:00
up of twenty billion cubic feet of
8:03
granite so if you look here let's look
8:05
at the steep side of Stone Mountain real
8:06
quick it is very dangerous and even
8:09
someone like myself cannot be over here
8:11
by foot area where the markings kind of
8:15
dirty markings on the mountain this is
8:19
the area that they said that a lot in
8:21
this first suicide derby and one with
8:24
the time of four minutes
8:43
the carving is a larger than life ladies
8:43
and gentlemen the entire surface area of
8:45
it covers almost as much space as usual
8:49
whole entire football field I don't know
8:52
about you guys what we came around that
8:54
bend I'd say that view I believe there's
9:02
a gargantuan egg up there that belongs
9:04
to a dinosaur the dinosaur ium straight
9:08
through that door
9:19
I'm gonna go talk this ball in one of
9:19
the rocks oh that was a major fail whoa
9:23
in is it in flux of each brother
9:36
the blaster I have my ammunition and
9:36
insert it right there now I press this
9:39
button and watch it go
9:55
incoming it's a battle oh there's
9:55
another big egg right here on top of
9:58
that little roof you're bad luck to be
10:01
standing underneath it and that thing
10:03
cracks you get yolk a lot of yolk all
10:07
over you
10:08
well hello there oh oh don't growl at me
10:13
I'll let you do your hatchet I'll let
10:15
you do your thing
10:16
I know what hatching is taking place and
10:18
I would be the last one on earth to
10:21
interrupt that going down alright see it
10:33
she loved the camera
10:33
I can see
10:35
Oh
10:41
she's very smart as you could also tell
10:41
he understand I know you said that and
10:43
she's nodding her head she's agreeing
10:45
with you how smart she is
10:46
totally
10:55
Parasaurolophus they all seem to be
10:55
growling quite a bit
10:56
oh she's winking at me
11:14
oh I thought you were talking to me no
11:14
no you're talking get it out you're
11:16
