0:03 Welcome everyone. Out of the Woo here.
0:03 I'm on the corner of North Sherman Road
0:06 and North Central A. Actually, it's not
0:09 North Sherman Road. It's just Sherman
0:10 Road and North Central A. And I'm here
0:13 with Jacob the Carpet Bagger. And we are
0:15 meeting up right outside the Atlanta
0:18 airport in a little town called
0:20 Hapeville. You ever been to Hapeville
0:23 before?
0:24 Once I think.
0:24 One time. And why? What brought you to
0:26 Hateville?
0:27 This right here. This directly in front
0:29 of us is the very first Chick-fil-A, but
0:33 it was not called Chick-fil-A when it
0:35 first opened. It was actually called the
0:36 Dwarf House. And before the Dwarf House,
0:38 it was called the Dwarf Cafe. I believe
0:41 Grill.
0:41 The Dwarf Grill. And they did not grill
0:44 dwarfs.
0:45 That would be highly unethical.
0:46 That would be that would be a little bit
0:48 unPC, politically correct. But they
0:51 changed it from the dwarf grill to the
0:53 dwarf house. And the guy that created
0:56 the dwarf grill went on to create what
0:59 is now known as Chickfil-A. So we are
1:02 standing your second visit and my first
1:05 visit to the dwarf house, the very first
1:08 Chick-fil-A.
1:17 The dwarf house. And the originator of
1:17 the idea is sitting right there next to
1:20 that little dwarf door.
1:24 It's my second channel, daily vlog
1:25 channel. It's the daily woo from
1:28 Hateville, Georgia at one of the few
1:31 Chick-fil-As that is actually open 24
1:34 hours a day. Open all night. But do not
1:37 be confused because this Chick-fil-A,
1:39 like every other Chick-fil-A, is closed
1:41 on Sundays. So, 24 hours a day, but only
1:45 six days a week. Should we go inside?
1:49 Maybe get some food, show what is
1:51 inside, maybe give a little history, a
1:53 little backtory.
1:54 Absolutely.
1:54 Now, you have been here before, so you
1:56 might know a little more than I do.
1:58 But I did go inside and I read like some
2:00 of the paraphernalia, some of the
2:01 pictures on the wall, some of the
2:03 interesting stuff, and they actually
2:06 they put this little homage, this
2:08 monument, this statue up very recently
2:12 when he passed away. Truet Kathy was his
2:16 name, right?
2:17 Yes. Truet Kathy. You can see
2:19 S truet Kathy
2:20 S. Truit Kathy,
2:22 native Georgian, founder of Chick-fil-A.
2:26 And they've actually placed him here.
2:28 You can get a photo with him. And from
2:30 what we could tell, this part of the
2:33 brick was part of the original building.
2:34 It has been remodeled. And of course,
2:36 they have built the sides on over time.
2:39 They have put the drive-thru in. They
2:40 have put around the side. They have
2:42 built onto it. But this is part of the
2:44 original facade. And this door, which I
2:48 guess is for children or for people who
2:51 are smaller in stature than I am because
2:55 I I would have a hard time fitting
2:57 through that door. Does the door open?
3:00 It does. You can actually enter in
3:03 through the dwarf house door. I'm going
3:06 to go I'm going to go inside here. Just
3:08 be careful because there is a wet paint
3:11 sign. No, not wet paint. That's actually
3:13 a wet floor sign right there.
3:16 So, this is it. This is the inside. Oh,
3:19 you should go back out. Come back in.
3:20 Let me get Let me get a monumental
3:23 unveiling of you coming in here. Knock
3:25 on the door.
3:28 Someone's at the door. Who is it? Oh,
3:30 come on in. Come on in.
3:33 Welcome to the dwarf house. The original
3:35 Chick-fil-A. And these awesome stained
3:39 glass windows that are up there in here.
3:42 It is kind of like a church. If you're a
3:44 big fan of chicken, then this would be
3:46 your hollowed ground. You would worship.
3:48 You would get on bended knees and pray
3:51 to the chicken sandwich as you eat it.
3:54 And very coincidentally, this is
3:56 actually cool. Pray for Atlanta. Now,
3:58 you are you live kind of in the south
4:00 and in this area. Do you see these
4:01 around? Is this like a thing around
4:03 Atlanta or is it more like a Chick-fil-A
4:05 thing?
4:05 I think this might be a Chick-fil-A
4:07 thing. And you can actually while you
4:08 are like holding your hands in prayer,
4:10 you can actually make sure you use the
4:11 Purel to keep your hands
4:15 very How does that even work?
4:16 Maybe not.
4:17 Very clean. So here is the original
4:19 dwarf grill right up here in Hateville,
4:22 Georgia. And you can see the way it
4:24 progressed from the dwarf grill to the
4:27 dwarf house. And here, I guess this is
4:29 probably this might have actually been
4:31 maybe the uh creator here, maybe and his
4:34 wife. There's no names on there though,
4:36 so I guess we just kind of have to guess
4:38 guess who that was. And then here's
4:41 another one that actually opened in
4:43 Forest Park. They had the dwarf burger.
4:46 How far is Forest Park from here?
4:49 I don't know.
4:50 This says it was actually destroyed by a
4:52 fire and then rebuilt.
4:54 So that was actually not on the
4:56 property. This is actually what we're
4:57 looking at right outside. So this is
4:59 actually how it looks to this day. This
5:01 is the door that we just crawled
5:02 through. So, we just crawled through
5:04 that door. And this is, of course, this
5:06 is what it looks like outside. Modern
5:09 day here as well. You can hang your keys
5:11 here. And then over there in the corner
5:14 is actually like a seven dwarf. Oh, look
5:17 at that. Home of the original
5:21 Hateville Dwarf House. And we're going
5:23 to get some food. Now, the menu here is
5:25 the same as it is other Chick-fil-A.
5:28 Half diner and half fillet. Oh, so the
5:32 diner's here. This is the diner, and
5:34 then the Chick-fil-A is over here. So,
5:36 if you want to do a normal Chick-fil-A
5:37 drive-thru, you would go on this side.
5:38 Oh, I can see what you're saying. So,
5:40 the diner is on this side, and the
5:42 Chick-fil-A is kind of over on this
5:44 side. And look at these old Here is an
5:47 old wooden rake. A raster. A rash
5:51 rasterillo.
5:56 Some coffee beans. So, obviously, if you
5:56 want to order coffee here, you can just
5:58 make your own right here. You don't even
6:00 have to order up here at the counter.
6:02 So, here is like the area where the
6:04 basically the the new style Chick-fil-A
6:07 is. And there's some little stuff along
6:09 the walls, home of the original home of
6:10 Chick-fil-A. But then over around here
6:12 is kind of the old school dining area
6:15 kind of kind of style. And against the
6:18 wall, which we haven't even gone to
6:19 check out yet, is like a seven dwarfs
6:23 Disneyesque kind of kind of deal, which
6:25 is actually right right across the wall
6:29 right over here. So, here is the
6:34 there is the menu. And you don't see
6:37 many Chick-fil-As where you can actually
6:38 sit along to the side, but look at the
6:40 Seven Dwarfs. These do not look like the
6:43 Disney Seven Dwarfs. These actually look
6:46 like the Chick-fil-A seven dwarfs. There
6:48 you go. This mural dedicated the memory
6:51 of Douglas Henry Davis,
6:54 but those not look like the Disney seven
6:56 dwarfs. And it looks, if you look very
6:57 closely, I know you're very enamored by
6:59 this, but if you look very closely, you
7:01 can see they actually do move. There is
7:03 like a little a little track that they
7:05 move along, but they're not moving. The
7:07 dwarfs are very tired. They are not
7:09 moving. Maybe they have eaten too much
7:11 Chick-fil-A. Maybe they've had too much
7:13 to eat. Because when I get too much to
7:15 eat, the last thing I want to do is go
7:16 mining. You don't want to go mining. You
7:18 don't want to go chipping on trying to
7:19 find jewels. Look at the size of that
7:20 ruby. You don't want to do any of that
7:22 when you're full off Chick-fil-A. Right
7:24 now, I'm hungry, so I can do a lot of
7:25 mining.
7:27 So, but after I eat, no mining will be
7:29 done. [laughter]
7:31 Not on the itinerary for today.
7:33 So, let's go back outside. Show the the
7:35 out. We'll not go through this door.
7:37 We'll actually go through the new school
7:39 doors right over here. And then we're
7:42 going to go back inside and order
7:43 something off. Did anything on the menu
7:45 tickle your fancy? Strike your not your
7:47 funny bone, but your hunger your hunger
7:49 bone, if that is even a thing.
7:51 Hunger bone.
7:51 Any strike your hunger bone. [laughter]
7:54 So, here's a sign. The Dwarf House, home
7:56 of Chick-fil-A. Founded in 1946.
8:01 Right here. The Dwarf House. The
8:04 miniature door there that you can
8:06 actually go through. Here's a little bit
8:08 of a closeup of the sign here as well.
8:11 1991 Shining Light Award in honor of S.
8:14 Truit Cathy who is right here. And a
8:17 little bit of good brand marketing. He's
8:19 actually holding a Chick-fil-A soft
8:21 drink. He has a beverage in there. He's
8:23 a soda drinker.
8:24 He's drinking oatmeal for some reason.
8:26 He is. He doesn't look like he's
8:28 Let's get in here. Let's get a picture
8:30 with S. Truit Cathy here. Right there.
8:33 See, we're at the Chick-fil-A right now.
8:36 Yes. Excellent. There's the sign.
8:38 established 1946.
8:41 So, I'm just hanging out with Jacob the
8:42 Carpetbagger. He has a YouTube channel
8:45 and a blog, the carpetbagger.org.
8:47 See, I remembered that. But you've also
8:49 started doing YouTube videos. Just
8:51 search the carpet bagger. What is the
8:53 URL?
8:53 Carpetbagger og.
8:55 That's the That's the YouTube URL.
8:57 Yes.
8:58 So, YouTube carpetbagger og or just
9:02 search
9:02 one word
9:03 the carpet bagger. You will find it. He
9:05 does all kind of really cool weird
9:07 roadside attractions like this. A lot of
9:09 history of the South. You focus pretty
9:11 much on southern states like Tennessee,
9:12 Mississippi, Georgia, Florida.
9:15 All about the South. Jacob the Carpet
9:17 Bagger. Go subscribe to his channel.
9:19 We're going to go get some food and
9:20 we'll see you guys later. Check down
9:22 below for my t-shirts and get yourself a
9:23 heck t-shirt. I noticed you're wearing a
9:25 sweet
9:26 south of the border, which is the
9:27 premier
9:28 roadside attraction.
9:29 Roadside attraction. Would you call that
9:31 a southern roadside attraction? I guess
9:32 it would be North Carolina to South
9:34 Carolina. It's the cap. It's It's
9:36 between North and South Carolina. It is
9:38 the capital of Carolina.
9:40 It is the mecca of roadside cheesy
9:43 goodness. Absolutely. I have stopped
9:44 there probably a baker's dozen times in
9:47 my day. But today we are at the Dwarf
9:50 House. Let's go get some food. I'm
9:52 hungry.
9:53 While we were doing that vlog, I didn't
9:54 tell you, but I have your credit card.
9:56 Oh
9:57 So, I'm buying
