0:02 welcome everyone adam the woo here
0:02 today's adventure
0:04 will take me around to a couple of
0:06 locations
0:07 corresponding and tying in to an
0:10 attraction
0:11 that sits at the disneyland resort and
0:15 one that stemmed no pun intended because
0:18 it
0:18 is based on a tree can be found at walt
0:22 disney world
0:23 as well and some say the inspiration
0:28 and if not that a deep rooted
0:41 documentation has been put out there
0:41 on how it was created in orange county
0:44 california
0:46 that was there's a long-winded intro but
0:49 i'm inviting you
0:50 to join me shall you
0:54 you read my mind big the foot you know
0:57 exactly where
0:58 i'm heading
1:07 you called it decided to swing by here
1:07 the harbor boulevard entrance of
1:09 disneyland to give a little perspective
1:12 before going over to the other two spots
1:16 even though the theme parks are not open
1:19 here in southern california
1:20 downtown disney is but cannot get in the
1:22 gates and walk back to adventureland and
1:26 next to pirates of the caribbean
1:29 swiss family robinson treehouse which
1:30 has changed its name
1:32 here to tarzan's treehouse
1:36 can't get back there but this is this is
1:38 about as close
1:40 as i can get for now here on the west
1:42 coast
1:43 just have to use our imagination we're
1:46 up at the top of it
1:55 okay moving on now heading back this
1:55 direction
1:56 a couple miles or so not too far of a
1:59 commute
2:05 you would think by looking at it
2:06 that this very impressive tree that sits
2:09 next to a church building
2:11 here in orange it's been rumored that
2:16 this was also utilized
2:23 by those in the creation of disneyland
2:23 for the attraction that you could walk
2:25 up into
2:27 depending on who you talk to some say
2:30 that this very tree
2:34 was one but i can't find a lot of
2:36 documentation of that
2:38 just hearsay more or less the other spot
2:40 i'm heading over to
2:42 has way more info and is stated to be
2:46 more prominently than this one but this
2:49 is one heck of a beautiful
2:53 a beautiful tree is it not
2:56 right here off the side of the road
2:59 i love it about four or five miles to
3:02 the next spot
3:04 i think the foot's excited because he
3:05 saw the matter worn from the freeway
3:08 kind of went by so quickly i didn't
3:09 capture it but
3:11 trust me he saw it in anaheim now and
3:15 had to find
3:15 street parking which was not too
3:17 difficult
3:19 because this section is closed off
3:23 currently
3:24 here at founders park
3:32 and the subject end question is
3:32 right here this expansive much taller
3:36 version
3:37 of the one i was just at
3:40 look at this thing
3:47 monumental
3:47 provides quite a bit of shade you could
3:49 get lost
3:51 in its root system
4:00 now there is an information placard
4:03 right over there that i'm making my way
4:06 towards but getting distracted
4:09 this is something else
4:21 carol's pride nursery man tim carroll
4:21 would be proud but hardly surprised
4:25 a one-time resident of australia he knew
4:28 the potential grandeur
4:35 of the morton bay fig trees that he sold
4:35 to anaheim residents
4:37 at the evergreen nursery back in 1868
4:47 if you continue reading states here walt
4:47 disney drew
4:48 inspiration from many places but in 1962
4:52 he modeled the swiss family robinson
4:55 tree house
4:56 now tarzan's home after the
5:00 fig tree here at founders park
5:11 very interesting
5:11 now i've been here before many many
5:15 years ago and did not document this
5:25 properly
5:25 standing here i am reminded of
5:29 just how impressive this thing really is
5:33 sits on the same premises as a lot of
5:36 other
5:37 historical buildings
5:53 dating back to 1894.
5:56 that is quite a homestead
6:03 the modest mother colony house now the
6:03 oldest wood frame
6:04 structure in orange county
6:08 i never knew that
6:21 and if you're building a attraction
6:24 based in a tree
6:30 drawing inspiration from this would be
6:30 very easy to do
6:32 noticing a lot of similarities
6:36 in the real deal here versus the
6:41 one that was constructed on disneyland
6:44 property
6:45 certain things just like the little
6:48 nooks and crannies that go along the
6:52 side
6:52 and some have carved their names and
6:55 initials in here which
6:56 is frowned upon i would not suggest or
6:59 recommend doing that
7:02 you want this to stand the test of time
7:27 way up there gosh there are a lot of
7:27 carvings in here
7:37 some most likely recent oh there's some
7:48 some of the carvings most likely recent
7:48 and some might date back
8:02 i've also heard that walt himself was in
8:02 this neighborhood many times
8:05 stopped by to take photos
8:08 had others swing by and also take
8:11 photographs just to
8:12 to match up you know for the future
8:15 project that was happening
8:17 i'm fairly confident that he didn't just
8:19 drive by this
8:21 and immediately came up with the idea it
8:24 was already floating around
8:26 it was already out there but he did
8:30 hear about this in some fashion
8:34 came by here and utilize this
8:37 in great detail for things to come
8:54 almost like a model of sorts
8:54 should also be noted that the city of
8:57 anaheim
8:59 stated this as its first
9:02 city tree with first city landmark tree
9:15 this thing's huge i've also heard that
9:15 they took
9:16 molds of the knots that are
9:19 all around the base and they use those
9:21 molds transferred them
9:24 over to the disney property and you can
9:26 find
9:27 you can match up some of the knots
9:31 from the base of this on the attraction
9:34 in the park
9:36 that's pretty dang cool while standing
9:38 here
9:40 these are starting to drop out of its
9:42 limbs
9:44 these little items here are falling
9:47 one just kind of perused its way or
9:49 cruise down to the ground there
9:56 narrowly missing my noggin
10:03 this kind of stuff is always really
10:03 fascinating to me i love the history
10:06 of the theme parks especially disney and
10:09 you know just knowing where you know
10:12 items that were used
10:14 real life places that were used for
10:16 things that
10:17 you've gone through hundreds if not
10:19 thousands of times
10:21 memories of our youth and adult
10:24 life and then you just realize just a
10:25 couple miles down the road
10:27 is what is the reason it exists in some
10:32 fashion to me that just it's a pretty
10:35 neat thing
10:36 add in the fact that this was imported
10:41 over 150 years ago
11:00 keep wanting to look up there and see
11:00 the sweet see the robinsons
11:03 but they're not there
12:15 i guess you could say its own little
12:15 scars but not really scars so much
12:41 i mean just just right here this is
12:41 about three feet well that's probably
12:43 two and a half that's probably three
12:45 feet tall
12:46 this is like nearly six feet right there
12:51 then to the base of that
12:53 maybe eight nine feet
13:16 the thing is it'd be very tough
13:16 to be very tough without a ladder of
13:18 some sort
13:20 to get up there
13:26 as you figure just from that section up
13:26 to that section is another
13:28 20 feet talking about 10 or 15 20 feet
13:31 between the roots and the branches at
13:33 the top
13:34 i'm noticing just with an eye vision of
13:36 here the street sign says
13:38 cross streets of sycamore street
13:41 that's another that's kind of fun
13:44 sycamore is also a tree reminds me of
13:47 the song in
13:49 in sunday school when i was younger
13:52 about zacchaeus
13:54 having to climb up in a sycamore tree
14:02 he'd have a tough time climbing that one
14:02 though
14:03 that would take some doing
14:12 although once you were up there you
14:12 probably see for a
14:13 long way off on the horizon states here
14:17 no one has a bill of sale
14:20 from the purchase of what is now here
14:23 but the facts point to carol's nursery
14:25 as the source
14:30 and right down here is one of the
14:32 nursery wagons
14:34 a few years after it was transported
14:36 here but maybe something similar to that
14:38 was utilized
14:40 to get it into its the spot it's at now
14:43 i believe the one on property in the
14:45 park is between 70 and 80 feet tall
14:52 pretty close in proximity if i had to
14:52 guess to the height
14:53 of this one also
14:57 and this one pre-dates by 100 years
15:07 about 100 years this is older than the
15:07 the one that was that was built
15:10 based on this i'm no expert on
15:13 a bird's-eye perspective you know as far
15:16 as being 80 feet up in the air
15:18 but since disneyland is only one mile
15:21 from this point
15:22 give or take about a mile could you see
15:26 any of that property from the top
15:29 limb up there that'd be that would be
15:32 very interesting i did not realize it
15:35 till now
15:36 because i've never been to those
15:38 overseas
15:39 parks but tokyo disneyland and
15:42 disneyland paris
15:43 also have an attraction based on this
15:50 more than just walt disney world and
15:50 disneyland
15:52 so total of four are counting that right
15:56 walt disney world had magic kingdom
15:59 tokyo and here in anaheim
16:02 a total of four the one located just
16:05 down the road
16:07 open on november 18th of 62 and the
16:10 father from the movie
16:13 showed up to kind of to kind of do a
16:16 grand
16:16 opening celebration on that day
16:20 150 tons of concrete are used for that
16:23 one this
16:24 is not made out of concrete or steel
16:37 just wood gosh that is a long branch
16:37 and now that i'm now that i'm looking at
16:39 this there might have been a branch
16:42 equal in length going off that direction
16:45 that
16:49 could have either fallen or been cut
16:49 down over the years
16:50 and you can see even parts of that up
16:52 there
16:57 it extended even further out at one
16:57 point
17:02 wow and just like the attraction
17:02 versions
17:04 which those have a base that go well
17:07 below
17:09 the ground for structural stability
17:12 roots go
17:17 i do not have a green thumb so i'm just
17:17 kind of saying this off
17:18 the top of my head but isn't the root
17:21 system of a tree
17:23 equal in length to the height
17:27 of what is above
17:37 but never fully fully looked it up to
17:37 see if it's true
17:39 it makes sense though to keep this
17:42 a shape and
17:46 growing strong you would think it would
17:48 have to have something underground
17:50 equal
17:55 so the roots could stretch all the way
17:55 over here or maybe not in height but
17:57 maybe in link because the roots probably
17:59 go all the way underneath this
18:00 parking lot that's not in use sometimes
18:02 you'll see roots kind of
18:04 bury up through concrete they'll appear
18:05 way over there
18:07 when the rest of the trees are over in
18:10 this area
18:11 one fun thing about living in this area
18:14 is you can always find photographs of
18:16 you know walt around town or you know
18:19 him doing the construction of his
18:20 park and you can match up
18:24 for historical sake no matter how much i
18:27 searched i could not find a photograph
18:30 of mr disney here but it would be neat
18:34 if there was one him just tucked away in
18:35 this root system
18:49 who knows could have been this very one
18:49 that i am leaning against that he
18:52 sat for a spell relaxed pondered
18:56 looked up into the branches
19:04 i like to think it was this root the one
19:04 i'm the one i'm on
19:05 right here kind of nice to do a a
19:08 relaxing
19:10 subject matter and video today
19:24 a little different a little peaceful
19:24 they want to stop back off here for
19:25 quite some time that's going to do it
19:27 for today
19:28 if you're new here please subscribe by
19:31 doing so helps keep you in the loop and

19:34 here on this channel oh yeah you can see
19:36 where part of that over there has been
19:38 sliced down
19:41 take it a step further ring that
19:42 notification bell and if you enjoyed
19:44 this particular episode
19:45 give it a big
19:52 thumbs up
19:52 lets me know you care
19:59 see you in the next video
20:01 the vlog you know i just keep wanting to
20:03 pan upward
20:21 is over i thought there was i thought
20:21 there was one of those acorn things
20:22 falling but it was just a leaf
20:23 off to the side frame of the but it
20:26 wasn't i was like oh man this is gonna
20:28 like
20:29 plummet right down hit me in the
20:32 forehead
20:34 but it didn't that was a leaf
