0:05 welcome everyone Adam the woo here it's
0:05 my second channel daily blog channel the
0:08 daily woo it's a dreary overcast morning
0:13 it was raining a little while ago here
0:15 in Lexington
0:17 Kentucky I'm in this Cemetery here very
0:20 somber area it's actually a pretty
0:22 fantastic Cemetery it's very large it
0:25 has some pretty
0:26 incredible monuments and gravestones
0:30 this is just a small
0:32 portion very small portion of the
0:34 cemetery it stretches way way out there
0:37 I don't know how many acres it is but
0:39 it's very large the main reason I'm here
0:42 is to pay my respects to one of my
0:44 childhood Idols his name was Jim vanney
0:48 he played the character that you
0:49 probably know as Earnest but he was also
0:52 much more than that he was also a
0:54 Shakespearean actor and played a lot of
0:57 other different roles and to me as a
0:58 child it was definitely an influence on
1:01 what I thought was
1:03 funny and helped mold what I considered
1:06 entertainment into my adult
1:08 life so I'm going to try to find his
1:10 grave and pay my respects to the late
1:13 great Jim
1:22 Barney you'll see there's a bridge over
1:22 here this covered White
1:25 Bridge with the green tarp over the top
1:27 of
1:28 it not really a tarp so much as it is
1:31 just uh like astro turf type
1:34 Greenery if you cross over that
1:36 supposedly Jem Barney's grave it's going
1:39 to be on the other side of
1:50 it I remember when I was a child uh 1983
1:50 84 Jim Varney started doing the earnest
1:53 commercials and I used to watch every
1:55 one of them remember we would rent
1:56 videos from the video store and they
1:58 would have all his commercial was on
2:00 there hundreds of them and we would
2:01 watch them I wore those tapes
2:08 out this place whereon thou now standeth
2:08 as Holy Ground try to act reverently
2:11 you're on God's
2:13 acre I can't imagine anyone coming out
2:15 here and not show
2:18 all every person has a
2:20 memory and that hold what their life
2:23 stood for very deeply and all these
2:26 people are very important but for me
2:28 right now definitely want to see Jim
2:31 Barney's grave so let's find
2:40 it this looks like this is more of the
2:40 newer area of the cemetery a lot of the
2:43 older old school graves are way back
2:45 over
2:56 everyone Yep this is
2:56 it I believe his family are all buried
2:59 right in here
3:00 this was his father's grave his dad was
3:04 also named James vanney of course he
3:06 took on the name Jim but his father was
3:09 James Jim vanney was also James but for
3:12 entertainment purposes for the credits
3:13 and whatnot he always called himself Jim
3:16 vanney but that's his dad's grave right
3:18 there he died in 1985 he only had one
3:21 son and that son was this guy right here
3:24 Mr Jim
3:30 vanney oh always wanted to meet him when
3:30 I was a kid unfortunately he passed away
3:33 in the year 2000 at the age of 50 he was
3:35 50 years old when he died of lung cancer
3:40 he was diagnosed with lung cancer and he
3:42 actually put a video an Earnest video
3:44 you can probably find it on YouTube of
3:46 him critiquing and criticizing Vern the
3:49 character of Vern that everyone knew and
3:51 loved for smoking and how he shouldn't
3:53 smoke he was doing that trying to get
3:56 people kids and adults that watch his
3:57 videos not to smoke to follow in his
4:00 path but it was a little too late and he
4:02 passed away shortly after that in the
4:05 year
4:11 2000 so that's my childhood Idol right
4:11 there how ironic is there's cigarettes
4:15 on the ground
4:18 here I'm not sure if that was an
4:21 homage or what that exactly was but it's
4:25 kind of heartbreaking to be standing
4:27 here but even though his body is down
4:29 below his Spirit definitely lives on
4:31 through me and probably thousands if not
4:33 hundreds of thousands of other people a
4:35 lot of people saw him as a goofy corny
4:37 guy but I really kind of took it to
4:39 heart he's a very humble man if you
4:40 watch interviews of him I think there's
4:42 a an interview of him on Good Morning
4:44 America and uh one of the Good Morning
4:46 America cast is uh interviewing him he's
4:49 a very humble guy one thing I really
4:51 respected about him when he started his
4:53 career is that he they pretty much never
4:56 marketed themselves to large cities it
4:58 was always small cities so all the
5:01 earnest commercials hundreds and
5:03 hundreds I think there was eight or n
5:04 hundred of them if I'm right I might be
5:05 wrong maybe you could look that up for
5:07 me but out of all those hundreds of
5:09 commercials none of them were in major
5:10 markets no big cities it was a
5:12 Grassroots thing he just kind of blew up
5:14 because basically he was hilarious
5:16 people related to him and I related to
5:18 him let's take a closer look at his
5:20 gravestone here people put coins pennies
5:24 and dimes and nickels right there are
5:27 paying their respects I'm not really
5:28 sure what that means but I've actually
5:30 created my own respect here I've
5:33 actually written this note for him and
5:35 you'll see there's a penny right on the
5:37 bottom just like everybody else has left
5:39 their Penny and I'm going to pay my
5:41 respects here I'm just going to perch it
5:43 in this flower hopefully it'll stay that
5:46 might not work maybe I'll put it here in
5:49 this
5:50 flower hopefully you guys can beat it
6:16 definitely not the usual daily Vlog blog
6:16 I do but this has a big influence on my
6:18 life and probably part of the reason I'm
6:20 doing these Vlogs and creating the
6:21 YouTube channel and all that in some way
6:23 shape or form stemmed from that guy
6:26 right
6:27 there so rest rest in peace Jim AR I'm a
6:31 little emotional right now so I'm going
6:32 to let you go and remember if you
6:33 subscribed up here I'm definitely going
6:34 to see you
6:37 tomorrow so make sure you subscribe up
6:39 here and go on YouTube and watch some
6:41 Jim Varney Clips especially the old
6:43 erest stuff the mid 80s stuff it's
6:45 classic the guy was a
