0:05 a cool crisp beautiful
0:05 morning in
0:07 Mississippi the weather feels so perfect
0:10 you could almost say it's Fit For A King
0:14 last night's accommodations might not
0:16 look like much but let me assure you
0:19 they were Majestic I slept in this
0:22 rustic Little Shack this is the view
0:25 from the porch sun is now Rising a few
0:28 Birds over there chirping beer cans
0:31 nailed to the ceiling of the
0:51 inside this was my
0:51 room humble
0:57 accommodations to say the least not your
0:57 typical holiday end that's for sure
1:00 you're staying at a resort hotel they
1:01 normally don't let you write your name
1:04 on the walls but that definitely seems
1:06 to be the tradition here this was our
1:09 living
1:10 room pretty cool right this crocheted
1:13 photo on the wall proudly states that we
1:16 are in Mississippi welcome everyone Adam
1:18 the woo here this is one of my favorite
1:21 places I've ever stayed it's my second
1:24 channel daily Vlog channel it's the
1:26 daily woo I feel like I'm that old man
1:29 at Disney Disney Land on Pirates of the
1:31 Caribbean when the boats go by just
1:33 sitting up there with my pipe I've
1:35 always been a big fan of theming and
1:38 Ambiance and there's not just one place
1:40 to stay out here there is a
1:43 plethora of accommodations the neighbors
1:45 have a pretty sweet PAD as well there is
1:48 no hot tub or sauna here but there is
1:50 this building that used to be used for
1:51 transporting cotton on the other side of
1:54 the railroad tracks there's some old
1:55 trucks in the front yard as well as a
1:59 bot tree it's exactly what it sounds
2:03 like it would be a tree full of bottles
2:05 they give you free moon pies when you
2:08 check in found an old Coca-Cola sign
2:10 this one's not hanging up and used
2:12 anymore but it still exists here's
2:14 something you don't see too often a
2:16 wooden John Deere tractor I don't know
2:19 how well that works but it's pretty cool
2:21 looking this is the main Courtyard area
2:23 in between all the cabins each of them
2:25 have their own
2:26 names embedded on the side
2:30 just so you know which one you're
2:32 staying in and the fact that all of them
2:34 have rocking chairs on the
2:36 porches kind of seals the deal doesn't
2:38 it I'm not sure if you're on the same
2:40 wavelength as I am but would you rather
2:41 stay at a nice hotel or here I'd rather
2:44 stay in a shack exactly looks like John
2:46 mackenro stayed here once of course
2:48 let's preface that statement by letting
2:50 people know there are heaters in the
2:52 rooms there is hot
2:55 water and a toilet and don't forget the
2:58 fact I'm trying to use the Wi-Fi in here
3:01 and of course lighting I think we've
3:03 covered all the groups that you need for
3:04 Comfort be very quiet carpet bagger is
3:09 leaving his Mark for posterity what's
3:11 this little guy that you drew is that
3:13 like a is that a posum that is a Poss
3:16 the cabin we stayed in was named the
3:18 electric blue and if you ever find
3:21 yourself in this neck of the woods keep
3:23 an eye out for my name that I'm going to
3:25 write above the door frame
3:36 there it is it's
3:36 official right above the main living
3:40 room if you will through the front door
3:43 was where I slumbered this is a good
3:46 opportunity to see if the Drone works
3:48 from the horrendous crash the other day
3:50 so I'm going to take it up in the air
3:52 get a bird's eye view of this entire
3:54 property you can see how many different
3:56 shacks and cabins and buildings there
3:58 really are here in Mississippi I
4:01 seriously love this place it's freaking
4:03 amazing man I'm worried that drone was
4:05 done for oh I'm afraid the Drone was
4:09 quite operational when your friends
4:12 arrived I cannot say enough good things
4:14 about that place I highly recommend it
4:16 it's called the shack up in in
4:18 Clarksdale Mississippi and it's not far
4:22 from the world famous Crossroads it is a
4:25 local legend that if you show up to the
4:27 crossroads at a certain time you can
4:30 sell your soul to the devil and reap the
4:33 benefits but the sign that sits at that
4:35 intersection is strictly for tourists
4:38 and only those who live here know of the
4:40 original location I think that this is
4:46 the original Crossroads some
4:48 say what instigated the beginning of
4:51 what we know as blues music some sell
4:54 their souls to rock and roll some do it
4:56 for the blues are there any other genres
4:58 of music people have sold their Souls
5:00 not sure I'm I think country music they
5:02 keep pretty pretty tightly held to their
5:06 souls what and that's the man most thank
5:09 for starting the genre of the Blues
5:11 Robert Johnson look at this
5:20 car speaking of Blues this venue here
5:20 called Ground Zero is owned by the one
5:23 and only Morgan Freeman and that is an
5:26 old school Greyhound station there some
5:28 corn there
5:30 and next to the corn huge bales of
5:34 cotton next to these unused railroad
5:37 tracks sits this church and in the grass
5:41 area in front of the building are three
5:44 old crosses what's interesting about
5:47 these set of crosses is many years ago a
5:49 minister traveled across the country
5:51 planting them in random towns and as I
5:53 travel across the country they are
5:55 becoming harder and harder to find
5:57 especially in sets of threes like this
6:00 so if you ever see them in your neck of
6:02 the woods realize there's a little bit
6:03 more history than just the church
6:06 congregation putting them in their yards
6:08 and what was the guy's name the
6:09 preacher's name Bernard coff and there's
6:11 a picture of him he has passed away but
6:14 some of his work still lives on it
6:16 appears the water tower in the town of
6:19 suner is shaped like a cotton ball or I
6:24 guess a cotton
6:27 stalk look at that thing pulled off the
6:29 side of the road because I noticed the
6:32 swampy area and the thing that's cool
6:34 about it is there are hundreds if not
6:37 thousands of Cypress knees protruding up
6:40 out of the water it's quite the cool
6:43 site and there's some birds and Eagles
6:45 and weird creatures of the foul
6:48 persuasion floating around flying around
6:51 enjoying the nether regions of
6:54 Mississippi it's pretty beautiful we
6:56 have stumbled on an abandoned school
7:00 check this out it's always crazy to see
7:02 these places that were once bustling
7:04 with students and teachers left in Decay
7:08 what is this it's like a piece of a
7:10 topographical map like a school project
7:12 that someone made maybe someone has
7:14 launched a chair through the
7:26 window this was probably the cafeteria
7:26 the kids would have been sitting right
7:28 there eating their lunches well now I
7:29 take that back it could have been the
7:32 computer room cuz there's some old
7:33 monitors a lot of the
7:35 curriculum just rotting away in
7:38 here look at that those are old
7:41 headphones that slightly puts a date on
7:44 this experience
7:49 wow you do not want to embed the old
7:53 Noggin on that when the teacher said
7:55 don't touch the thermostat people took
7:58 that very serious in 2006 this was a
8:01 certified No Child Left Behind Blue
8:03 Ribbon school now it is completely empty
8:07 with a piano sitting in front of the
8:09 stage in the former
8:26 Auditorium some remnants of the
8:26 playground area this little jungle J is
8:29 nothing more now than a planter for
8:44 weeds it's an old service station with
8:45 very colorful windows and there's still
8:47 a car inside there next to the gas pumps
8:51 an old General store
8:54 grocery some old Coca-Cola signs up
8:56 there too that truck has definitely seen
8:58 better days
9:10 when he blew the horn it startled me it
9:10 scared me it was so
9:22 loud Jeff gold Bloom near the
9:22 Mississippi River sits Margaret's
9:24 groceries right here off the road
9:30 and it's completely abandoned it was
9:32 built by Reverend Herman Dennis for his
9:35 wife he told her he would erect
9:39 Something Beautiful on the property is
9:41 this school bus Which is also decorated
9:44 and beautiful and the cool thing is you
9:46 can go
10:01 even though the former grocery is
10:01 boarded up and unaccessible you can get
10:04 in the school bus and sit inside here
10:06 and just soak up the artwork left as an
10:09 homage to his wife pretty cool we found
10:13 a way inside the grocery the floor is
10:17 very wet and nasty and I feel like I
10:19 might fall
10:21 through this isn't exactly the most
10:23 structurally
10:25 Sound Idea this is it this is the inside
10:29 of The Minister's groceries I don't
10:31 think they really sold canned goods and
10:33 stuff in here I think it was just a name
10:34 he gave it it's pretty much
10:37 adorned with all kind of either artwork
10:41 or
10:42 jewelry very colorful back when the
10:44 place was open there are articles
10:47 newspaper
10:48 articles all about the
10:51 property the dreams of a ridiculous man
10:55 this one States that's what it looks
10:56 like current day and this is what it
11:00 looks like in its
11:02 prime right after he completed it and
11:04 while it is sad that when you pass away
11:07 everything that you have left behind
11:08 never continues in the fashion that you
11:11 are putting your effort towards doing it
11:13 but it is always cool that little ribn
11:15 of what you have created always will
11:18 remain we're going to get some food at
11:20 KJ's Rivertown grill crab cake and
11:24 crawfish poppers and I got this
11:27 delectable little side salad now it's
11:29 time for some delicious looking fish
11:32 tacos what did you get the Cajun po boy
11:36 it looks tasty how is it it's the
11:39 sometime store it's a story that happens
11:43 sometimes you know how fond I am of old
11:46 Coca-Cola murals well there is a major
11:48 part of coke history here in vickburg
11:50 Mississippi it's the location of where
11:52 it was first bottled in
11:54 1894 the drink was not invented here it
11:58 was simply poured out of a fountain into
12:00 bottles here and this was the first
12:02 place that transported it to other areas
12:04 hence making it the first place it was
12:07 Bott and while it sounds like such a
12:09 simple concept people thought he was
12:12 crazy but we would never be able to
12:14 reach in one of these and pull out a
12:17 bottle Coke without that idea this is an
12:20 amazing idea you put the ice cream in
12:22 the top of that little circular bulb
12:24 syringe looking thing you drink the coke
12:27 through the ice cream that sounds like
12:28 the perfect Coke float to me this way to
12:31 the 1900 soda fountain I want to be the
12:35 first one to walk through that door wait
12:38 wait wait you would walk in and you
12:41 would Feast Your Eyes Upon This
12:44 counter of Coca-Cola Glory I'll take one
12:48 Coke sir hey give me one you want one
12:52 yeah two Coke back in those days you
12:54 could not sell the product unless you
12:56 had a legit soda fountain and employees
12:59 who were called Believe It or Not Soda
13:02 Jerks hey man watch your mouth this
13:06 little guy's name was cobot the robot
13:09 for real that was his real name cobot we
13:12 did it we walked through where it was
13:14 first bottled we need a toast or
13:16 something how about we use these sounds
13:19 good cheers stopped off in this museum
13:23 at the courthouse here in town they just
13:25 so happened to have ulses s grants
13:29 chair that's incredible you may think
13:32 that this is a rather unusual statue but
13:35 look closely at the top you will see a
13:38 hole in the back the reason for that
13:41 this is a ceremonial pipe made out of
13:46 limestone that's a really big pipe the
13:49 staircase in here is made completely out
13:52 of
13:53 solid
14:01 iron and up those stairs on the second
14:01 floor is the original Courthouse itself
14:06 the judge would sit here and Overlook
14:10 the entire room the lawyers here the 12
14:14 jurors here and the
14:18 onlookers in those pews Jefferson Davis
14:21 was inaugurated as president this is the
14:24 exact tie he was wearing
14:34 at one time this now bed and breakfast
14:34 used to be a mansion and there is a
14:37 civil war Cannonball supposedly lodged
14:42 in the wall still it really is true look
14:45 at
14:46 this there is a legit
14:49 Cannonball smashed in the wall and I'm
14:52 not sure the back story on this but they
14:54 have a hole cut out in the carpet
14:57 displaying the original wood floor and
15:00 there is some damage here so that must
15:02 be a little of a historical Relic as
15:05 well now at the Cedar Hill
15:08 Cemetery and out of all of these Graves
15:11 one really stands out that is like no
15:14 other amidst the confederate soldier
15:18 Graves just so happens to
15:22 be a
15:23 camel by the name of Douglas old Douglas
15:27 was the faithful patient camel of the
15:29 43rd Mississippi infantry this is a
15:32 rarity for me I've never seen a camel
15:35 buried amongst humans before very
15:39 interesting there is a school bus
15:41 Moonlighting as a tow truck that is
15:45 something you rarely
15:48 see and with that it's time to say vog
15:53 over
