0:03 Welcome everyone. Adam the Woo here
0:03 coming to you from a very overcast and a
0:06 very blustery windy day here in Fort
0:10 Wayne, Indiana. It's my second channel,
0:13 Daily Blog channel. That's right. You
0:15 are watching the
0:17 Daily Woo! Why am I in Indiana? I am
0:21 cruising through heading to my sister's
0:23 house. Hopefully, I should be there
0:26 within the next couple hours. But I
0:27 wanted to do a quick little fantastic
0:30 pit stop here in an awesome location
0:33 right here in this neck of the woods.
0:36 Where I'm standing is a fantastic place
0:39 that I'm about to show you. But first,
0:41 have you ever had a dream or perhaps a
0:43 nightmare of a bunch of doctors chasing
0:46 you? Here we come. We're like zombies,
0:49 but we're not zombies. We're helping
0:50 you. We're doctors. But even though you
0:53 like to be helped, the last thing you
0:54 want is a bunch of doctors chasing after
0:57 you. Thwart loads of doctors running
1:00 after you at rapid speeds. Unlike
1:02 zombies that walk slowly, doctors will
1:05 chase you very quickly. And they'll
1:07 definitely rack up quite a bill. And
1:10 those bill collectors will run even
1:12 faster after you than the doctors. And
1:14 what keeps doctors away? Almost like
1:16 kryptonite to Superman. Doctor's
1:19 kryptonite are what? Apples. An apple a
1:24 day keeps the doctor away. We've all
1:27 heard that terminology. Where am I going
1:30 with this? Well, you can thank one man
1:33 for the plethora of goodness of apples.
1:36 I'm talking about Mr. Johnny Apples
1:39 Seed, who just so happens to be buried
1:43 right here in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The
1:46 Johnny Apples Seed gravesite. Look at
1:49 this. Johnny Apples Seed. An American
1:54 folk hero. Granted, you have probably
1:57 heard the stories. If you haven't, you
2:00 probably have been living under a rock
2:02 because Johnny Apples Seed, this man
2:04 right here, Mr. Johnny Apples Seed, is
2:06 an American hero. In fact, they have a
2:11 little little area here dedicated to
2:14 him, a little information center. His
2:16 real name here was John Chapman, but
2:19 everyone knows and loves him and calls
2:21 him Johnny Apples. Passed away in 1845
2:26 right here in Fort Wayne, Indiana. And
2:29 his grave is actually right up there.
2:30 There are some other trees that have
2:32 been planted here that are not apple
2:34 trees. What are these? These these are
2:38 definitely not apples, but there are
2:41 other types of foliage and fruit. Look
2:43 at these. Look at these. What are
2:45 these? What are these? They look like
2:49 little apples, but they're not apples.
2:51 They're some other sort of
2:55 fruit. Not really sure. Okay, let me
2:58 show you what I hear. What I came here
3:00 for. The existence of this vlog is for
3:02 this exact thing right here. Look at
3:06 this. The final resting place of Mr.
3:10 Johnny Apples Seed.
3:12 He lived so others could actually
3:15 flourish. He lived to help others. I
3:18 think that's the saying they say about
3:19 this guy. Let's go in here and take a
3:28 look. He basically dedicated his life to
3:28 going around planting orchards and
3:30 apples for people and if they could not
3:32 afford it, he just said, "You know what?
3:34 Pay me later." A very kind-hearted man
3:37 who material possessions meant basically
3:39 nothing to. All he wanted to do was to
3:42 get the word out to increase the apple
3:45 population, if you will. John Chapman,
3:48 Johnny Apples, died in
3:50 1845. This was erected by the Indiana
3:53 Horiculture Society right here. And you
3:56 can see how people have placed apples in
3:59 his honor. And right here among all
4:02 these rocks, these decorative, beautiful
4:04 rocks, is the gravestone and the final
4:07 resting place of the man, the myth, and
4:10 the legend, Mr. Johnny Apples Seed. In
4:13 fact, there's actually an apple right
4:16 there.
4:17 Look, they actually engraved an apple
4:21 right above his name, quote unquote
4:23 Johnny Apples Seed. John Chapman. He
4:26 lived for others. That's what I was
4:28 trying to tell you a minute ago. He
4:29 lived for others. There's a little
4:32 inscription of the Holy Bible and then
4:34 the years that he lived
4:36 1774 to
4:43 1845. So there he is right there. Johnny
4:43 Apples Seed. Very awesome rot iron gate
4:46 surrounded by another rot iron gate and
4:50 these really awesome hedges here. And
4:53 there's also a a gravestone engraved
4:55 right here as well. If you go out the
4:57 front, this is actually pretty awesome
4:58 what they've done out here to honor this
5:02 guy. In fond memory of John Chapman,
5:06 endearingly known as Johnny Apples Seed,
5:10 this graveside improvements were
5:11 provided by the Men's Garden Club of
5:13 America and the Johnny Apples Seed
5:15 National Memorial Foundation
5:17 Incorporated. 1965 is when that was
5:20 placed there. But this grave has been
5:23 here for a long time. 18 and
5:30 45. So that's pretty cool. I'm the only
5:30 one out here. You can see my van down
5:32 there. There's like a big coliseum over
5:34 here in Fort Wayne. So if you ever want
5:36 to come out and visit the grave of
5:38 Johnny Apples Seed, just look for the
5:40 coliseum. It's over off to the side of
5:43 the coliseum. Just walk up this little
5:44 hill. Most people probably even realize
5:47 this is here, but it is here. So, if
5:48 you're in Indiana and you cruise out
5:50 this way, definitely check out this
5:53 awesome fantastic thing. Wow, here's
5:56 another. Look at this. Johnny Apples
5:59 Seed Festival. They have a festival
6:00 here. I didn't know this. They have a
6:03 festival. Johnny Apples Seed Festival
6:09 Incorporated. Gravesite landscaping is
6:09 provided by the Johnny Apples Seed
6:11 Festival Incorporated.
6:13 Awesome. So, that's really cool. What
6:15 are any of these apple trees?
6:21 I am definitely not an expert. I do not
6:22 have a green thumb. As you can tell,
6:23 this thumb is not green. So, if you see
6:26 an apple tree, let me know. Is any of
6:28 these foliage items where that bird is
6:32 flying away, but that is not an apple
6:34 tree? Let me know. Do you see an apple
6:37 tree within eyeshot here planted near
6:40 the final resting place of Mr. Johnny
6:43 Apples Seed, a man who traveled around
6:46 the United States, states and states and
6:48 states, constantly on the move,
6:50 constantly planting apple trees, giving
6:53 people nourishment, and he was a big fan
6:55 of animals as well as people. He was a
6:58 vegetarian. He actually even loved
7:00 insects. He didn't even want to kill a
7:02 little insect. There's crazy stories
7:04 about one time he had a campfire going
7:06 and a bear and the cub of the bear was
7:08 sleeping nearby. He put the campfire out
7:11 that way he would not disturb the bear.
7:13 And there's another story about a bunch
7:15 of mosquitoes in an area and he actually
7:17 put a campfire out because he did not
7:18 want the mosquitoes to be harmed. So
7:21 this is a very caring man. I don't think
7:23 I don't really think I would personally
7:25 care about mosquitoes. But obviously
7:27 this guy had more compassion in his
7:29 heart for insects and animals than I do.
7:32 I I have a lot of compassion for people
7:34 and animals. But man, insect go see I
7:37 just got an insect. I just got an
7:38 insect. I have not learned the ways of
7:41 Johnny Apple Seed. But definitely some
7:43 cool stories about this man that you can
7:46 read up on. Check. He also was never
7:48 married. His whole mission in life was
7:51 basically to portray the apple goodness
7:55 upon the world. There's also another
7:56 story saying about how if he was never
7:58 married in life into the other world as
8:01 he passed away, he always thought maybe
8:03 I'll get too wise. So maybe hopefully
8:06 Johnny Apples Seed has two wives in
8:10 heaven. Is polygamy legal in heaven?
8:12 Johnny Apples Seed, what a crazy guy.
