0:17 Oh, welcome everyone. Adam the Woo here.
0:17 You just caught me hiding some Adam the
0:19 Woo
0:20 stickers in this little planter area
0:23 that used to actually house a light. You
0:26 can see some of the remnants of the
0:28 lights inner workings, the nether
0:32 regions that I like to call them, if you
0:35 will. I'm here on the outskirts of
0:39 Atlanta. I honestly do not remember the
0:41 name of the town that I am in. It is not
0:45 Atlanta, but it is probably about 15,
0:48 20, 30 minutes from Atlanta. I parked my
0:51 van right here in this facility of
1:01 consumerism. It's not really bustling
1:01 with excitement, but there are stores
1:04 open that do have a few customers in
1:06 each one. There's a tax place, a hair
1:09 cutting place, a supermarket, a laundry
1:12 mat, which I could probably use. I'm
1:16 going to let you in on a little secret.
1:17 I have actually not done laundry on this
1:20 entire road trip. So look back. How long
1:23 have I been on this road trip? Almost a
1:24 month and a half, two months. I have not
1:27 done laundry. Been wearing the same
1:30 shirts. And then I will discard the
1:32 shirts by putting them in my bag and
1:34 I'll buy other shirts at thrift stores
1:38 and I'll wear those. And then I will
1:40 purchase new socks and underwear at
1:43 Walmart and that keeps me going. But I
1:46 should be back in St. Cloud, Florida by
1:48 Thanksgiving, which is Thursday. Today
1:49 is Tuesday. So, in two days, hopefully
1:52 I'll be back home in time for
1:55 Thanksgiving to my parents house to
1:58 enjoy some time with my family. But for
2:00 now, I'm enjoying time with you, my
2:03 secondary family, my friends on the
2:06 internet, my
2:08 vicarious folk out there. And I have
2:10 something exciting to show you guys
2:13 today. And it's not my van. It's not the
2:17 exciting,
2:19 bustling mill of goodness known as
2:23 Shops, O'Reilly Auto Parts, Farmers,
2:26 Home Furniture, Family
2:33 Dollar. It's my second channel. It's my
2:33 daily channel. That's right. You're
2:36 watching the Daily Woo. So, I started by
2:39 putting those stickers over there
2:42 because if you're in this region, you
2:46 will be able to come out here and get
2:48 these stickers. So, just Google some of
2:51 these businesses. The way you can figure
2:53 out where I am is because the name of
2:56 this complex is Hawthorne Plaza.
3:01 So, I'd ask you to do me a favor and
3:03 figure out what town am I in on the
3:07 outskirts of Atlanta. What do they call
3:10 the outskirts? The nether regions of a
3:13 big humongous popular city. What are the
3:17 outskirts
3:19 called? The suburbs. I was going to say
3:22 the BBS. the Tom Hanks movie that I'm so
3:25 fond of that was filmed on the Universal
3:28 Studios Hollywood backlot which looks
3:30 nothing like it does in the movie
3:33 because it's changed around a lot. That
3:35 section of the back lot I think is
3:38 actually used for Desperate
3:39 Housewives and a few other movies. I
3:42 think the Monsters were filmed back
3:43 there. But I digress
3:46 from Hollywood talk, Universal Studios
3:49 Hollywood, and I'm talking about the
3:51 suburbs of Atlanta. And I'm right here
3:53 on the corner of Old Powder Springs Road
3:56 and Veterans Memorial Highway. You can
4:00 see those two signs swaying in the
4:04 wind. Hawthorne Plaza. There's a Family
4:08 Dollar, an O'Reilly Auto Parts, a Homes
4:12 Smart, an attorney. If you need an
4:14 attorney and you're in Atlanta, and you
4:17 don't want to deal with the people in
4:20 downtown Atlanta, come out to the
4:22 suburbs right here at this little I
4:26 guess it's not really a strip mall. It's
4:28 just one of the old school 1970s, 1980s
4:33 built, what they thought was going to be
4:35 a thriving business opportunity. You see
4:38 how large the parking lot is? But the
4:42 parking lot does not need to be this
4:43 big. So, there's really only maybe a
4:45 total of 40 cars total in the entire
4:49 complex. 10 businesses, 40 cars. That
4:52 means there's about four customers per
4:55 store. So, they do not need this
4:58 massive parking lot. Why am I showing
5:01 you this? What is so important and
5:04 vitally exciting about an empty,
5:07 somewhat empty parking lot in a kind of
5:12 moderately empty shopping
5:15 complex. We in this day and age are
5:19 obsessed with consumerism. Everyone is
5:21 guilty of it. I'm even guilty of it to a
5:24 degree. Not the degree that a lot of
5:26 people are, but I over time as I've
5:29 gotten older, I've started to be sucked
5:32 in to the
5:34 consumerristic
5:35 world. Needless to say, places like this
5:39 pop up all over the place. These
5:42 fortresses of money grabbing, money
5:47 sucking goodness are created and built
5:52 everywhere. and they've only popped up
5:54 within probably the last what hundred
5:56 years. These massive
5:59 structures of
6:03 consumerism. Some of them continue to
6:05 thrive, some of them fail. This
6:08 particular one, I think, is kind of
6:10 right on the brink. We're not talking
6:13 about brinks, however. We are talking
6:16 about a cemetery that was here before
6:21 this complex was
6:23 built and money talks. So they they
6:27 actually built a shopping center on top
6:31 and around and in the non- nether
6:34 regions. They didn't tap down the nether
6:36 regions because that would just be
6:38 absolutely awkward and creepy. But
6:40 they've actually built this complex
6:43 around Prepare
6:57 cemetery. A
6:57 cemetery right here in the middle. smack
7:02 dab in the
7:11 middle of this complex. There's a car
7:11 wash over there, some apartment homes, a
7:14 car care center right there, a fence
7:18 shop of some sort, another apartment, a
7:21 car maintenance facility, and this is
7:23 the back area of what I just showed you
7:26 in the front. And look at this.
7:38 Right next to H&R Block, you can get
7:38 your taxes done and then you can sneak a
7:42 peek. No pun intended because the name
7:45 of this cemetery is Strickland and what?
7:50 Strickland and Peak.
7:54 Strickland and sneak a peek at
7:59 this cemetery established in
8:04 1853. Long before these walls were
8:09 festoned around the
8:11 sides, this cemetery has been here. And
8:15 the people that are buried here probably
8:18 in their life did not think that when
8:21 they passed on that they would actually
8:23 be part
8:26 vicariously of a consumerristic
8:30 nature. People say rest in peace. When
8:33 you think of that you're not thinking of
8:35 shopping. Even if you are a big
8:37 shopaholic, when you're alive, you
8:40 probably are not thinking that in death
8:43 that you are going to be surrounded by
8:45 people spending money on discounted
8:48 clothes, accessories, electronics, and
8:51 other wonderful things.
8:54 But these people are stuck with that
8:58 curse for the rest of
9:05 eternity or at least until this place
9:05 gets bulldozed, which I don't know if
9:07 that'll ever happen. Most places like
9:08 this eventually when other big
9:12 corporations and other malls come into
9:14 play, places like this shut down and
9:16 these places will sit empty and
9:18 abandoned forever and ever and ever. So
9:20 eventually this place will be abandoned,
9:22 but this place will never be abandoned.
9:25 There will always be residents here at
9:29 this very interesting, odd, I wouldn't
9:31 really say it's creepy. It's just very
9:33 unusual cemetery. And I say we go
9:35 inside. Hopefully there's not a lock on
9:38 there. There is a lock on here, however.
9:41 H&R, not block, but H&R lock, which I
9:46 think actually means H&R block. So
9:49 there's a lock there in the form in the
9:52 form of writing on the wall. But there
9:56 is no lock. Look at this. There is no
9:59 lock on
10:01 this. In
10:09 fact, they're welcoming us.
10:09 Welcome. Welcome everyone. There's a
10:12 welcome mat. So we're going to go in.
10:16 This sign here actually says that this
10:18 area was restored by the Boy Scouts of
10:20 America in
10:22 1975 through
10:25 1976. The scouts that were involved are
10:29 all written right here on this little
10:31 tin plate. You can actually see all the
10:33 names of all the scouts that were
10:36 involved from
10:38 1976 here at the Strickland and Peak
10:41 Cemetery that was established in the mid
10:44 1800s.
10:46 So, let's check out some of the
10:57 graves. See, I believe this graveyard is
10:57 so old they actually do not know the
11:00 name, the person that is actually buried
11:02 here. So, they've actually been marked
11:04 with a number. This one has actually
11:06 been designated number six.
11:10 So, no one's really sure the gender or
11:12 the persuasion of the person who's
11:14 actually buried
11:16 here. So, they've just been given a
11:18 number. Number
11:29 six. There is no name on this one
11:29 either. There is some very faint
11:32 lettering engraved right there on the
11:35 top. Very hard to make out though.
11:39 This is very interesting too, this rock
11:41 structure. There are actually three
11:43 crypts, three graves right across there.
11:46 One, two, and three. And these are the
11:49 This is the Strickland family. You can
11:51 see that wooden
11:53 sign mounted, I should say, against the
11:57 wall, which is probably some sort of a
11:59 clothing store now. And Strickland's
12:03 wooden wooden plaque is bolted into the
12:07 wall directly next to their grave. You
12:10 got to wonder if the people on the other
12:11 side of here that are actually being
12:13 rang through the registers, swiping
12:15 their credit card have any idea that
12:18 there are people right here in a
12:20 cemetery, literally feet away from them
12:24 through this wall. I'm going to say
12:26 probably not. A lot of people probably
12:27 do not realize this cemetery is back
12:30 here.
12:47 Now we're back to the numbering system
12:47 again. Here's number five, 4, 3, 2, and
12:50 1. There are no names on these graves.
12:53 That's how old these graves are.
13:13 The very last one actually does have a
13:13 name on it. David T.
13:16 Peak,
13:19 captain of the
13:21 COC7 REGGT Georgia Volunteer Infantry,
13:27 Confederate States Army. He's buried
13:30 right here. David
13:43 Peak. Very interesting.
13:43 I'm going give you a little moment of
13:44 quietness just for a moment
13:47 here just to give you the ambiance of
13:50 what I'm feeling. So, I'm going to be
13:52 quiet for a minute. Shh. Everyone, just
13:54 a little moment of quietness
13:57 here in this graveyard of consumerism.
15:05 So, there you have it. Another
15:05 interesting
15:07 place that a lot of people do not
15:09 realize exists, but now you know that
15:11 this exists. And I'm glad that you join
15:14 me through these unedited vlogs. I do a
15:17 daily vlog every day on this channel.
15:19 It's called the Daily Woo. It's
15:20 unedited. I never edit any of these.
15:22 Whatever happens happens. I just roam
15:24 around, try to show you some interesting
15:26 things that I enjoy. And I hope you
15:29 enjoy coming along with me and seeing
15:32 some of these very interesting things.
15:34 If you like this channel, please
15:36 subscribe. Also, check out my other
15:37 channel. It's called the Adam the Woo
15:40 channel. I have two
15:42 channels and I really appreciate you
15:44 guys watching. See you guys tomorrow.
15:47 Make sure you
15:48 subscribe. And if you do that, then you
15:51 will be seeing me tomorrow because it
15:53 will show up in your subscription
15:56 box, which is actually pretty cool. It's
15:59 free. Doesn't cost anything to subscribe
16:01 to anybody's YouTube or to mine. It's a
16:04 free thing. Watching it on YouTube is
16:06 free. It's a
16:07 wonderful DIY, do-it-yourself
16:11 entertainment tool. I love the way
16:13 YouTube is, the way I put myself out
16:16 there. If you guys like something, you
16:19 comment on it, you watch
16:21 it. It's awesome. I can't even describe
16:24 the awesomeness of the internet. The
16:28 internet's full of a lot of very bad
16:31 things, but honestly, there are a lot of
16:33 very good things that come out of it.
16:36 And you joining me and me meeting you
16:38 vicariously is one of those awesome
16:40 things. So, have a great day. Have a
16:42 happy Tuesday. And if you're in this
16:44 area, if you figured out exactly where I
16:46 am, which you should be able to based on
16:48 all the locations that I've given you,
16:50 come out here and get those stickers
16:52 that are actually right over there. And
16:54 if you get the sticker, go on Instagram,
16:56 Twitter, or Facebook. Make sure you
16:58 hashtag me or post something on there
17:01 letting me know and letting everyone
17:03 else know that you got the sticker. and
17:06 go around the back and take a look at
17:09 that really unusual graveyard. That's
17:11 something you do not see every
17:14 day. There you go. Georgia, a suburb of
17:19 Atlanta. I really wish I would have
17:22 looked up where exactly I was before I
17:24 started the vlog, but I'm sure one of
17:27 the first comments you guys will
17:29 actually share that information with me.
17:32 All right, love you guys and I'll see
17:34 you tomorrow. Oh, yes. You will be
17:36 seeing me tomorrow and I'll be seeing
17:40 you. Will I be seeing you? I'll be
17:44 seeing
17:45 you
17:47 again
17:49 tomorrow cuz you're my best
17:52 friend. You, sir, ma'am and
17:59 child. I don't know where to go with
17:59 that one. See you.
