0:02 today's adventure brings me just over
0:02 the Florida state line just a few miles
0:04 like three or four miles over the
0:06 Florida state line
0:08 to King's land
0:10 welcome everyone to a cold brisk just
0:13 over the Florida state line into Georgia
0:15 mourn
0:17 doing all right there a little chilly
0:19 we're gonna be going indoors though
0:21 to the Star Trek Enterprise Recreation
0:26 one of the two in the U.S this is the
0:29 one that's in the South there's another
0:30 one in New York New York I've never been
0:33 to one have you ever been to one no this
0:35 is my first time
0:36 going on the Enterprise I know it's
0:38 exciting excited based on Star Trek the
0:40 Original Series TOS for sure is what
0:43 they call it yep TOs and also was used
0:46 in a new recreated Show online called
0:49 Star Trek Continues Star Trek Continues
0:52 it's gonna be pretty cool and remind me
0:55 again who is going to be giving the tour
0:56 today for us uh Vic Manana who plays
0:58 Captain Kirk in the Star Trek continue
1:00 show and also uh Chris Dewan who is the
1:04 son of James doing I play Scotty who
1:06 plays Scotty
1:08 also this is Greg's Game Room by the way
1:10 I introduce you as Greg he has a YouTube
1:12 channel also check out his channel
1:13 Greg's gaming all right I'm inviting you
1:14 to join me and Greg as we board the
1:17 Enterprise
1:22 are you excited are you just warming
1:22 your hands look at this car a little bit
1:23 of both Jordan and Craig
1:26 shall you I'm already seeing the hand
1:28 signal for live long and prosper also
1:31 the sticker of the neutral zone there's
1:34 quite a few other people already here
1:35 because we got the second time slot of
1:37 the day at 10 30. this is the nine
1:40 o'clock
1:41 time slot what does that say on the side
1:44 this says
1:46 can I turn it upside down it says Kirk's
1:49 chair
1:51 take a look at that that's awesome
1:57 we haven't even seen it yet but I'm
1:57 already excited so these must be like
1:58 interchangeable pieces they use inside
2:00 yeah if there wasn't any signage up he
2:02 would never know
2:04 what was back in Behind These Walls
2:06 obviously there's a big banner here
2:13 where's the entries I think that's the
2:13 entry point right there just to show in
2:15 correlation from Central Florida where
2:17 we're both at so we had to drive up this
2:20 direction
2:21 crossed over the state line it's just a
2:23 little north of Jacksonville you can see
2:24 it's right on
2:25 the state line like a parade of cars
2:28 pulling through here all the same type
2:31 of automobiles
2:42 let's say Florida be when they were on
2:42 the Georgia Florida Line gets this kind
2:44 of temperatures it's nice but it is it
2:46 is brisk and cool 42 degrees here in
2:49 Kingsland and even though we are a
2:51 little chilly side this is for posterity
2:53 Greg right here I know you're excited
2:56 but I think of friends of mine that love
2:59 Star Trek
3:00 you're in the top percentile
3:03 in fact you kind of got me into it a
3:05 little more and I've seen all of them
3:06 and recently a couple years ago I bought
3:08 the Blu-ray set and I watched all of
3:10 them in order from start to finish
3:38 so you're a little bit early this
3:38 morning
4:16 kind of interesting though how you can
4:16 see
4:17 you know it's all it's all trickery
4:20 because inside this building but the set
4:22 is over here I think I'm most excited
4:24 about going under the bridge obviously
4:26 what are you most excited about seeing
4:28 the engine room I just want to see the
4:29 whole thing you see all of it yeah you
4:31 see chatting her over here it's like a
4:33 complimentary skinny to the one I have
4:35 in the game room yeah you have a you
4:37 have a Shatner and you're in the Greg's
4:38 game room it's the uh from Star Trek six
4:41 but this one is from the original series
4:43 and I was looking over there obviously
4:46 there's no shell
4:53 thank you
5:05 this was in Mirror Mirror right yep
5:05 that's called an agonizer you were just
5:07 watching that in the hotel in the hotel
5:09 room yeah
5:21 I already bought a phaser at DragonCon
5:21 Recreation I did I haven't put it
5:23 together yet
5:24 just about it in the Box still working
5:25 on it
5:26 you forget the company that did the
5:29 model kits for the Enterprise
5:30 and they needed more stock they needed
5:35 more things to sell so they created the
5:37 shuttle and then they ended up building
5:38 it they they put up the money to build
5:40 it for the actual show oh no kidding
5:42 yeah but it started off as like a
5:43 marketing thing so that's a lot more
5:45 stuff here are the rules of conduct be
5:47 respectful the sets absolutely no food
5:50 or drink watch your step at all times
5:52 take as many selfies as you like feel
5:54 free to post them like to ask questions
5:57 and you may exit and return the studio
5:59 as many times as you like no smoking and
6:02 most importantly
6:04 get them troubles
6:06 thank you guys for coming thanks for uh
6:09 braving the brisk Saturday morning
6:11 weather uh but that's cool I recognize
6:14 you an active Film Studio you're
6:16 basically standing backstage at a Sound
6:19 Stage
6:20 um
6:21 uh it started in 2010 with a group
6:25 called Starship Farragut they were in a
6:28 smaller location down in St Mary's that
6:30 building got sold
6:32 Vic mignano who is the executive
6:35 producer and uh starred in Star Trek
6:39 Continues was working with them at the
6:42 time and what Vic did was take the
6:45 blueprints from Paramount in 1966.
6:49 and scope out where everything would
6:51 have been at Paramount and that's what
6:53 you're going to walk through so it's
6:55 really one of the closest approximations
6:58 to what you would have seen as you've
7:00 been at the studio in 1966 and when I
7:03 when you give me the queue the doors are
7:05 going to open
7:07 the door
7:36 welcome to engineering
7:39 uh you notice we have some Sounds
7:41 playing in the background to make you
7:42 think you're on a Starship when we film
7:45 we don't have any sound because that has
7:47 to draw it afterwards we don't want it
7:49 to disrupt what we're filming uh one of
7:52 the first
7:54 reaction to me that when people walk in
7:56 is it's smaller then it works or let you
8:00 imagine and it's actually built the
8:03 scale uh and we'll talk about how we
8:05 know what the scale is and
8:07 uh and how you calculate all that the
8:10 workforce was built through a process
8:12 just like it was in the original series
8:14 uh the process is called forced
8:17 perspective
8:19 and if you're not familiar with what
8:21 that is as you go further and further
8:24 back items get smaller and smaller and
8:27 it gives that illusion of depth and if
8:30 you look at it from back here or through
8:31 a camera you might say it goes back 20
8:34 25 maybe even 30 feet it's actually 12
8:37 feet
8:39 and that's the way it was in the
8:40 original series
8:41 uh there is another location that's a
8:44 museum and they have an engineering
8:46 section but their ceilings didn't go
8:48 that high
8:49 so we have basically what you would have
8:53 seen in the origin
8:55 would you design it in whatever size you
8:57 want out of Styrofoam
9:00 that old ceiling is styrofoam
9:03 is that the only going to come down
9:05 you and I could probably
9:07 yeah the crystal would go
9:09 crystal is now somewhere underneath
9:12 so this is where the crystal would go so
9:15 when you see them pulling with it
9:19 and then to finish the effect of the
9:21 future they put these round spheres in
9:26 to make it look like it was futuristic
9:28 now I found these because I needed
9:30 something that would stand up to the
9:32 heat and humidity of the summer and some
9:35 of you may recognize these as nothing
9:37 more than garden decorations uh so
9:40 everybody this is big pinata hi everyone
9:49 welcome welcome
9:49 to our playground and and with it is
9:52 Crystal give it up for Chris
9:59 I think it's a pleasure
10:04 you're in his you're in his club now
10:04 you're in his his Clubhouse now
10:07 just don't touch anything
10:11 the only the only place that I should we
10:14 shot scenes where I got injured
10:17 and not many other places are on the
10:20 bridge but uh there was a scene
10:23 and it was a very for those of you who
10:25 haven't seen structure continues or
10:26 haven't seen this episode it was a scene
10:28 where I'm talking to a hurry up
10:30 and it's a very intense scene and you
10:33 know I mean things are looking bad
10:35 and you know maybe whoever was standing
10:38 here and they were holding on to this
10:39 you look exactly like I know
10:42 squid a little bit you never know yeah
10:45 and but anyway so you know I'm holding
10:47 on to her and all together this but the
10:49 the ship is moving so I'm literally
10:51 making it look like it is and when we
10:53 did this scene many many many times and
10:56 and I don't know how many years ago this
10:58 but my finger has been numb ever since I
11:01 I've heard some nerves in there gripping
11:03 this dripping is so hard and not even
11:06 realizing that I was doing it and then
11:07 secondly trying to go up those stairs 20
11:10 times take after take after take and
11:11 look how steep those things are
11:19 is who knows what that did in the
11:19 original series because it was in the
11:23 everybody the answer is nobody knows
11:26 because they never use it
11:28 so we had we literally had scaffolding
11:31 here and the camera was up on the
11:34 scaffolding shooting down to get that
11:37 aerial view we're gonna come over to the
11:39 dilithium chamber and I want you to
11:41 pretend to check something here and then
11:43 I want you to go to the left okay okay
11:46 so now that's the movement so we yeah
11:53 couldn't you
11:54 you could
11:56 um you could take a shot of him here
11:58 and then you go ahead and walk and then
12:01 he walks out of the shot right
12:03 and then you would cut to another shot
12:05 you set your camera up here right
12:08 and here that might be nice right did
12:10 you see all that nice behind it or maybe
12:13 you might want to hear it or maybe you
12:15 want to see that behind and so when he
12:17 when he when he walks by the camera
12:19 swings around now you've got this shot
12:39 do me a favor and stop at the red line
12:39 please
12:52 they're everywhere
12:52 as soon as you know that this is four
12:54 feet by eight feet
12:56 you can calculate how wide the corridor
12:58 is you can calculate how many of these
13:01 panels before this hallway
13:08 which is exactly how you you can know
13:08 what what the spatial dimensions and and
13:11 measurements the uh the plate on the
13:13 wall is sick Bay so why don't you leave
13:16 us on in there around to the left
13:37 now the best place to get them the
13:37 greatest picture is right back here
13:38 where you guys are
13:40 so if you get a chance all of you guys
13:42 over there come back here and just turn
13:44 around and look in because this is the
13:46 classic shot that you remember of sick
13:48 Bank the the wide shot was back here
13:51 notice this wall is not here so you can
13:54 be out here looking in
14:00 now a couple of favorite things about
14:00 this room one of my favorite things is
14:02 this fabric
14:04 and I know that's probably kind of weird
14:05 they used it for the beds they used it
14:08 for seat cushions they upholstered
14:10 chairs with it they even used it as a
14:12 tablecloth once for uh underneath a meal
14:16 that they were having they liked the
14:18 look of it nice sparkly
14:21 apparently future means Sparkle
14:25 and this device would read their body
14:28 and it would display their vital signs
14:30 on the monitor above
14:33 what a cool idea right
14:35 well they couldn't do that in the 60s
14:38 they just thought that would be a cool
14:43 you guys remember these little arrows
14:43 right would would fluctuate with the
14:45 different readings
14:51 you know how they did that the same way
14:51 they did the doors
14:54 behind that wall moving those little
14:56 arrows up and down my arms
15:04 the spark a Spock sick he is he had his
15:04 he had his uh hand shoot off by a dog so
15:08 he's here in sick Bay to get get fixed
15:10 up
15:20 Greg brought his little figurines good
15:20 idea
15:43 and so anyway going back to like 2008 JJ
15:43 Abrams asked me to be in Star Trek 2009
15:46 and uh I had no idea what I was going to
15:49 do and you see this British hallway and
15:51 with this cabinet and my brothers let's
15:55 see what's in here
15:57 and he opens it all those Tribbles
16:05 so if somebody had to reset that
16:07 triples had to be put back so we we're
16:09 scared to death we run back to the
16:11 shuttlecraft I'm trying to save money
16:12 right you know your budget's going to be
16:15 crazy so you're trying to save money so
16:17 if you're a production facility in Los
16:21 Angeles you have plenty of Lights laying
16:23 around
16:24 so they just repurposed them
16:26 by using them here now the good news is
16:29 they still exist
16:31 the bad news is they're very expensive
16:34 and again you know just like with the uh
16:37 the transporter there were certain
16:40 things that that still exist but they're
16:42 really hard to find and if you find them
16:44 they're expensive because they're rare
16:46 every room we go in you're gonna see
16:48 something they use them everywhere
16:51 well if you're trying to recreate these
16:54 sets you need to use them too but they
16:57 were there this technology was very
16:59 common back then but it's not anymore so
17:02 but we know what they were so what do
17:04 you do we did the same thing that we did
17:06 with the lenses we bought a couple of
17:09 the real ones and then we took them
17:11 apart and made little molds of them
17:14 and just now they don't work
17:16 right but they don't need to because
17:19 it's a TV show
17:20 if I'm doing my job and I'm walking
17:23 around if I'm playing Kirk and I'm
17:26 walking around the griefing room I'm
17:28 like oh I need to call Sulu
17:31 cook the bridge
17:33 are you looking here no no you're
17:36 looking here we're inflamed repair time
17:39 estimates
17:44 of course
17:44 absolutely and then we get it done in
17:47 half the time right right that's what
17:49 made America look alike
17:58 exactly there you go oh one last thing
17:58 to tell you in this room you notice
17:59 probably when you walked in that there
18:00 are no chairs
18:03 well there are no chairs for the same
18:05 reason there probably wouldn't have been
18:06 chairs had we all gotten on buses and
18:08 gone to desolate
18:10 because when you're trying to save money
18:13 you don't build 25 chairs
18:16 you build 10 and you move them around
18:18 and then on this side of the corridor
18:22 but we didn't need those things we
18:24 needed a lot of other things
18:26 so we'll hop in here real quick
18:29 this is that swing set area I was
18:32 telling you about and currently
18:34 if you notice the sign as you walk in
18:36 it's configured to be auxiliary
18:38 controlled
19:04 she's trying to get all the detail of
19:04 all this this is so so awesome yes
19:30 but it's not black
19:30 see we changed a little bit just a
19:32 little bit made it white put the chips
19:35 that were still in service on the screen
19:36 and then she had a desk right here with
19:39 chairs on either side that Spock and
19:41 Kirk's hat on and we put a wall over
19:44 over top of all this stuff so you
19:46 couldn't see it
19:48 see them all down the corridor you'll
19:50 see them in every sets those are for
19:52 mounting lights and they gave it they
19:54 give us the perfect angle okay now we
19:58 can't leave I love you we can't leave
20:00 because I have to show you the story she
20:01 was asking about kicking Lou fruit and
20:03 then other cats okay yeah here's how
20:06 this happened okay this happened right
20:08 here okay so Lou was over in makeup
20:11 getting green right
20:14 and so we decided we were going to
20:16 practice it we're going to set it up
20:17 right make sure we were all ready for
20:20 when Lou comes on set right
20:22 so the camera was here
20:29 okay and it was it was a wide shot and
20:29 may I borrow you Lou was here
20:32 yeah he's great okay and then we had a
20:37 mattress on the floor right here and
20:39 then I was over here
20:41 he threw me across the room and I get up
20:44 and I run and I jump sideways right kick
20:48 him
20:49 and then I land on the mattress right
20:51 okay that's how it was supposed to work
20:54 that's how it was supposed to work
20:56 so we were going to test it we had a
20:59 fight choreographer on set friend of
21:01 mine and he had a he was gonna be Luke
21:04 so we're gonna test the kick I was very
21:07 excited I was so excited to do this he
21:10 had a big uh pad like a like a catcher's
21:14 breastplate and he was standing there
21:17 holding it and I was supposed to kick it
21:20 to test so we shot the test so the
21:22 camera's rolling I get up I run and jump
21:26 and kick him and he goes flying against
21:30 this wall and down
21:34 but that wasn't the worst part he was
21:35 fine
21:37 I came down on that mattress and the
21:40 mattress was nowhere near thick enough
21:42 oh my God I came right down on my hip on
21:46 this concrete floor oh my god
21:49 that hurt yeah so they went and got me
21:52 some pad to put in my pants on my hip
21:54 and they got another second mattress
21:56 doubled it up
21:58 but the choreography guy the fight guy
22:01 comes up to me and he goes dude you
22:03 can't kick Lou like that he's 70 years
22:06 old and he's had hip surgery like if you
22:10 kick him he'll go down and he might not
22:12 get up like it could it could hurt him
22:15 I'm like well crap I wanted to kick him
22:18 like what the heck
22:21 so Lou shows up
22:23 he gets in place
22:25 and this is what we did
22:27 camera's rolling I run I jump and I
22:30 extend to kick him but I don't actually
22:33 kick him
22:35 we cut the camera
22:36 then the camera repositions he still
22:38 loses Lou right who's standing here Sam
22:41 in like this this direction
22:44 we set the camera up right here on a
22:46 close-up of Lou's chest
22:48 I took my boots off and put them on my
22:50 hands
23:03 do it step back and in the close-up and
23:03 he goes out his momentum starts moving
23:05 backwards right and then one final shot
23:09 camera sets up here
23:15 Lou gets down on the floor sits down and
23:15 then on action he goes oh
23:18 and falls into the shot
23:21 and when you cut those two together
23:22 those three together it looks like I
23:25 kicked it and he went down
23:42 sorry here it seemed better no lay back
23:42 down here
23:43 that's what I was gonna do it
23:56 come on in everybody make room good and
23:56 slide around there for me if you would
23:58 make quite better here
24:03 yep
24:03 it's everywhere
24:09 because this is everybody's room
24:09 you are standing in every character's
24:12 bedroom
24:13 because all you do is you just change it
24:16 up a little bit you have one you build
24:17 one room and then you just
24:24 and uh so
24:24 I love that episode where Kurt Shrine
24:27 down
24:31 I don't know it's the Crooked spot gets
24:31 shrunk can I please make sure
24:48 it was supposed to be dozens of these
24:48 access conduits all over the ship and it
24:50 was a big ship and there were a lot of
24:52 these supposedly
24:54 good again
24:56 trying to save money you know delighting
24:58 or you move a couple of pipes around and
25:01 you just
25:01 make it
25:03 that is awesome
25:06 any questions
25:11 on the show
25:11 you can walk down about four feet Yes in
25:14 this spot yeah take it the entire set
25:16 was lifted up yes yes well on the
25:19 original Sound Stage yeah it was like
25:21 all on platforms and and you could go
25:24 below them the floor there uh same with
25:27 there I believe
25:29 um with that that Alcove there got it
25:31 you can't see the end of the you can
25:33 never you can't see the end of them you
25:34 can run it closely down the corridor
25:36 yeah
25:37 exactly exactly and of course if you
25:40 think about the saucer of the Enterprise
25:44 but it's logistically purposeful too
25:47 because if it has a beginning and end
25:49 then you have to have
25:51 very yeah very well thought out
25:54 perspective yep we're going to let our
25:56 special guest star Chris take you into
25:58 the big enchilada come on in see my
26:02 captain's chair
26:07 Andrew but feel free to walk all the way
26:07 around guys oh man
26:09 oh
26:15 wow
26:15 oh my God
26:30 your first time here yeah this is
26:30 awesome
26:31 it's like blowing my mind
26:44 feel free to move around guys Lots no
26:44 places off limits over here
26:52 okay so here's where Spock would always
26:52 sit obviously
26:59 that spot could always be down here
26:59 doing his work Ohara would be over here
27:11 is this beautiful did you ever imagine
27:11 when you were a little kid that you
27:13 would
27:15 stand on the bridge of the Enterprise
27:16 unbelievable
27:25 make room for everybody
27:25 come out and I just turn around and I
27:28 sit in Scotty's stations
27:30 and I don't I didn't have a line at that
27:32 point but I just sort of I just sort of
27:34 watered up looking around going this is
27:36 exactly what my dad was doing yeah and
27:39 I'm looking through my dad's eyes at
27:40 what he was doing 50 years ago
27:42 and it was just such a surreal moment
27:46 and um
27:48 and you know I still think about that to
27:49 this day that the first day I you know I
27:50 had seen the set from over there and
27:52 done this and then that but to actually
27:54 do a scene that first scene right here
27:56 it was just a surreal moment for me
28:10 that our very first episode
28:10 we shot uh he and I were
28:13 behind those doors waiting for them to
28:16 open for the for them to call Action and
28:18 and actually I was directing so I called
28:20 action dead from back there but they
28:22 were all set up out here waiting for us
28:24 to walk out
28:25 and he and I were standing back there
28:27 waiting for those doors to open
28:29 and just look looked at each other and
28:32 you know here he is looking amazing
28:34 in his in a perfect uniform and we're
28:36 about to walk onto the bridge
28:40 it was surreal
28:42 um you know I mean here here's here's
28:44 Chris
28:45 you know following in his dad's
28:47 footsteps 50 years later and me 50 years
28:51 later
28:52 uh playing my childhood hero you know
28:56 and how much you know how much like the
28:59 word I that comes to my mind always is
29:01 daunting it was just incredibly daunting
29:04 and I gotta say something too it's like
29:05 when I when Vic first approached me
29:08 uh to do this you know initially I I
29:11 refused I just thought you know I'd seen
29:13 another fan films
29:15 and then we went out to lunch one day
29:17 and he you know he said no this is this
29:18 is different you know do we have top
29:20 professionals everybody's you know you
29:22 know and you know almost everybody that
29:24 we started with we ended yeah which is
29:26 you don't see that in other with other
29:28 Productions right and uh
29:31 so you know I I we said yes and then
29:33 when we did that first vignette
29:35 and it was it was only you know just got
29:38 a lot of hits on YouTube and it just
29:39 went well and from that point on it was
29:42 go and now I look back and I thought
29:43 because it's really changed my life it
29:46 has I mean think of the places we've
29:47 gone to Australia together we've done
29:49 Germany you know England you know we've
29:51 done all of these together you know and
29:54 the travel and and just meeting all the
29:56 people and meeting all the you know
29:57 seeing all of my my dad's fans and
29:59 hearing the stories but I would have
30:02 never been able to do that if it wasn't
30:03 for Vic
30:05 putting this series together and asking
30:07 me to be Scott and I want to thank you
30:09 yeah my pleasure great well you were
30:17 often asked me how did you get Chris
30:18 doing
30:19 like because he's awesome he's just a
30:22 great guy I just you know I couldn't the
30:24 pay was so good
30:28 conversation I had with every single
30:31 person that I brought into this show was
30:32 now you're not going to make any money
30:36 so you know know that going in you're
30:39 going to be a part of something very
30:40 special
30:41 and I think you're going to be a part of
30:43 something you can be proud of for years
30:44 to come but it's not this is not a
30:47 money-making Venture this is not a
30:49 profit-making venture none of us made
30:51 any money in fact you don't even want to
30:53 know how much I spent
30:55 but that's not that's not the point the
30:59 point is we created something that we
31:00 love and to pay tribute to this show
31:03 that we that meant so much to us and
31:06 it's been incredibly gratifying that so
31:08 many people have enjoyed it as much as
31:10 they have
31:11 um the last real quick because we need
31:13 to get to the new tour that's starting
31:15 so we're going to let you guys take all
31:17 the pictures you want pop in the
31:19 captain's chair here's the chairs by the
31:21 way the chairs we talked about and even
31:24 these chairs are nothing but cheap
31:26 little plastic
31:28 little plastic molded chairs
31:31 I gotta say this is just awesome this is
31:34 just so
31:35 dag awesome I just want to go here to
31:37 the elevator
31:38 it was just so accurate
31:41 you know what
31:43 there was a game
31:57 right I literally because the core of us
32:04 that's as long as it was in the original
32:04 series when Spock would get down there
32:06 and like pull that down all the time and
32:07 work if you go around the back you can
32:09 see where they recreated that oh really
32:25 more signatures over here from some of
32:25 the
32:26 some people who worked in here on fan
32:29 films this is the address
33:02 so basically it's one printed image and
33:02 then there's an image behind it it would
33:04 have been a scale model of uh
33:11 it's like I feel like I'm really on the
33:11 show right now you gotta like you gotta
33:14 like walk almost like you can't
33:15 obviously walk out of here but this is
33:17 what it would be like
33:24 just like that like that they've added
33:24 this they've added the screen over there
33:26 too yeah
33:33 so if I'm a member in this correct you
33:33 got ahura here
33:35 Spock over there I don't know what's
33:37 your spots over there I think where
33:39 Shatner here Kurt and Sulu was always
33:42 here and this is always kind of mix mix
33:43 and match right yeah but mostly check
33:45 off that's right check off when came in
33:47 right and then over here is where Scotty
33:49 would work from this is like the
33:50 auxiliary engineering the Scotty right
33:53 over there yeah Scotty's here this is a
33:54 childhood Dream Come trip um
34:09 Captain says there's something on screen
34:09 if you turn it on then we have a remote
34:11 control to handle the two red alerts
34:13 yeah so yeah and actually some of what's
34:17 in engineering that control panel also
34:19 all of those lights turn on and off from
34:21 the control buttons everything else is
34:23 fake everything else how does it feel to
34:24 sit in that chair
34:26 lifelong dream life yeah I was gonna say
34:29 it is a lifelong dream too I feel like
34:33 you're so the hero I feel like you're
34:34 Captain current seen him a million times
34:36 on the show and to be in this situation
34:39 in a restaurant it's pretty mind-blowing
34:54 I always wonder what it'd be like to sit
34:54 here now I know how does it feel
34:58 I feel like William Shatner
35:07 the art book The behind the scenes oh
35:07 and the and some of the stuff behind the
35:09 scenes as far as the videos go awesome
35:11 there's a lot of things I didn't know
35:34 that's pretty dang cool check off
35:37 Sulu
35:51 Kirk
35:52 I grew up with uh
35:55 I don't even want to leave here I'm just
35:58 trying to really get the whole
36:00 the whole effect of this place
36:03 oh man on the Enterprise right now
36:05 okay that's even better just like this
36:17 perfect thank you
36:17 this is my original logo
36:21 I have mine at home too I love it let me
36:25 see a picture
36:36 I have to go sit in the chair in the
37:02 so I've got two stuff because the people
37:02 here right
37:30 I gotta do it I gotta do it all the
37:30 spots
37:37 foreign
37:55 I believe you did
37:55 so I got Sulu check off
37:58 Mr Spock
38:04 Y and Kirk
38:04 I nailed it
38:08 all right let's think about it
38:12 what was that I totally boxed that line
38:14 you're gonna say you're ready
38:18 take us out of orbit Mr wuh
38:30 that was pretty cool yep yep
38:36 all right
38:36 that's for past that's really for
38:38 posterity
38:41 true
38:42 so Greg was saying to kind of look
38:44 around here so where Spock's always
38:45 working on the computer over here
38:47 they have like a little set section down
38:49 here
38:54 that's pretty cool
38:54 so they have it behind this section
38:56 right
38:58 yeah it really like wasn't it it was
39:00 over there the way they could have
39:02 filmed it it could have been it made it
39:04 look like they were opening that one but
39:06 they should have actually been doing
39:06 this one good point yeah
39:20 there's a nebula captain
39:20 we have to avoid it
39:22 got some T-shirts over here
39:41 right now
39:43 I'll get ready
39:49 oh and signature okay yeah
39:49 oh wow I didn't even see this
39:53 if you want a little bit behind the
39:55 scenes you go in the turbo lift and look
39:57 to the left and you'll see the pla uh
39:59 camera platform really
40:02 yeah up here is where the camera
40:03 platform where you put camera so you can
40:05 shoot down to get that iconic shot wow
40:09 yeah that's awesome
40:14 Ah that's cool
40:14 and then here's the Rope to the door I
40:16 enjoyed your little trip down there goes
40:18 the Hemingway's house
40:19 yeah I've been there oh my God it was in
40:22 the 70s when I was in the Navy
40:25 and of course they still talk about the
40:26 penny then the penny yeah the last round
40:29 the one Red's last red set yeah
40:31 that's great
40:33 now these pipes can be changed around
40:35 these here can be changed around to make
40:37 it look like another Jeffries to the
40:39 stairs are steady and these two so
40:42 they're solid these are solid everything
40:44 else you don't want a sand on it no you
40:47 don't want to grab if you're falling
40:48 yeah because it'll come down with you
40:50 and yes we do have gnd
40:53 so
41:03 well I'll probably forget it and you'll
41:06 probably go to sleep right now that's a
41:09 good idea then you won't forget it
41:11 yeah we know you're getting old
41:14 is that loose hand print no no it's not
41:17 one of the Pas said we had the halt we
41:19 had to have a green handle right yeah
41:21 that's correct actually you can't get to
41:22 John Delancey and Ann lockharts because
41:24 they're up by the front but they're back
41:25 behind stuff right now uh Colin Bakers
41:28 is around back behind back back or set
41:32 as well
41:34 wow we're not climbing up the jippers
41:36 dude exactly I'm just happy to look at
41:39 it you saw the picture of Aaron gray
41:41 yeah he showed us that and he showed you
41:43 where it was taken at he did yeah he
41:45 showed that walked over to it yeah
41:48 um this this set has been used so I mean
41:52 it's been the commodore's quarters when
41:53 it was that and put Flats there lolani's
41:56 quarters
41:58 um Tails neutral zone had an episode we
42:00 made it to Cargo Bay yeah he was saying
42:02 this is the biggest area so this is the
42:04 one that's changed out the most
42:05 Dominion's done uh Romulan bridge two
42:10 different John for two different types
42:11 of ships it has a Doomsday Machine from
42:14 a Starship Farragut episode
42:16 yeah Dan's been here from almost the
42:18 beginning he's been Bloom up oh he's
42:20 very good continue
42:28 so you painted all this yes I helped
42:28 paint but still
42:30 this whole place is awesome
42:33 where's the camera hole you see those
42:35 camera holes in here yeah there's camera
42:36 holes behind oh these yeah so actually
42:38 behind there oh yeah the camera back
42:40 there oh that's the that's the bridge
42:42 right there yeah yeah and that's the way
42:44 they did it so they can get the depth of
42:46 field because those cameras were huge
42:48 and we still do it too yeah and then
42:50 there's another one behind the the
42:52 painting on that side oh that's over
42:54 here because they only made one Cruise
42:55 quarters so when it's Kirk the desk is
42:57 over here the bed's over there when it's
42:59 spotted reversed and they put the
43:01 curtain up no kidding and they just use
43:02 that door instead of this door
43:13 statue and we actually did recreate that
43:13 voter statue with the urn in front of it
43:16 and we had all these little color
43:18 changing LEDs inside to simulate the
43:21 flame and it was on a wall and then
43:23 Ginger people walk right out the door
43:25 with it and then you see the scene in
43:28 this little Stinger reel there of a
43:31 Spock at his desk with the little plane
43:32 the little lamp right the lamp had no
43:35 Reservoir it just had a wick in it and
43:38 the wick was so put it in and we had
43:40 about 35 seconds
43:41 before the studio is available for rent
43:44 if you have a story well
43:48 and a sound guy if you can hide range it
43:51 during
43:52 a high frame of when they're available
44:06 of the original pilot Helm from the cage
44:06 no way uh this is actually was done for
44:09 a production called Exeter track and
44:12 this is a picture of the of it on set
44:14 for Exeter Trek and these are actual
44:16 screenshots from the original pilot you
44:19 know Jeffrey Hunter there's
44:23 underneath
44:24 so you can see how close it was it also
44:27 doubled as the transporter control you
44:30 take it out of this stand there's pipes
44:32 that make it look like legs and then you
44:34 change out the astrigator and put a
44:36 black yeah that is awesome
44:38 and these do turn on
44:41 this one's gotta need to change the
44:43 battery on that one
44:44 but they do turn on
44:48 I'm gonna get the lights working again
44:49 well they had it on batteries back in
44:51 again in the original days and uh
44:55 of course the battery compartments
44:56 eroded so bad I had to eliminate or put
44:59 they're on electric now
45:07 honestly oh man that is just so cool is
45:07 there any particular one I should stand
45:09 up well if you stand on that one right
45:10 by your foot that's the one Michelle
45:11 Nichols was on okay yes
45:19 and then I've actually moved to that one
45:19 over there that's the one Lou ferrigno's
45:20 in
45:21 yeah so if it holds him it'll hold you
45:23 okay underneath there's the real thick
45:26 plexiglass that was provided by granta
45:28 mahara when they tore down uh robot wars
45:31 actually let's go here so I got some
45:34 sturdiness here
45:44 anywhere Nichelle Nichols was
45:44 and Ferrigno yes
45:47 great now if you want your faces seen
45:50 step back into the ones behind you so
45:52 you have some light on your faces
45:54 because you're so shadowy
45:56 yeah see now I can actually see your
45:58 faces because of the shadowing up front
46:00 it was so dark
46:03 now if I want
46:05 it let's go back here so I can get the I
46:08 don't want top a set all right now we've
46:10 got the council in in shot two
46:13 as we were building these sets good
46:22 you got all this Lighting in here as
46:22 well as that and then see your face
46:24 because no stand back there for a second
46:27 see what I'm talking about with my face
46:29 is so dark oh yeah no but if I go back
46:33 here where you were
46:35 see how it all right yeah oh yeah okay
46:39 we got to get the light bulb changed on
46:42 that one
46:45 so they're on the bulbs are on order but
46:47 oh that's in the neutral oh the Romulan
46:49 control oh yeah that's when all the when
46:52 all the roof is falling in on them
46:54 constantly and the things shaking and
46:55 all the dust and everything they're all
46:56 around this
46:58 um I'm sorry balance of Terror yeah okay
47:01 yeah yeah
47:03 I totally remember that episode because
47:04 that's when doesn't the roof fall on the
47:07 one guy yeah
47:14 Kirk needs to call the bridge
47:14 um right now Kirk needs to call the
47:15 bridge
47:24 ended up picking up this t-shirt it was
47:24 forty dollars but the cost of admission
47:26 to do the tour didn't cost anything so
47:29 I have no issue paying forty dollars to
47:32 buy a shirt because that right there was
47:34 almost surprised this experience going
47:36 through there
47:37 so there's one other spot we got to go
47:38 to that we were informed about yeah and
47:41 I don't want to spoil it but um we'll
47:44 take a little little trip yeah it has to
47:46 do with uh the family of the creator
47:49 of Star Trek the great bird of the
47:51 Galaxy about a 20-minute commute over to
47:54 Folkston Georgia
47:58 this is the water tower it is brisk
48:01 the train going by a couple of guys over
48:03 at the neutral zone
48:06 informed us to go over by the courthouse
48:08 here this is also interesting I don't
48:10 know if I've ever seen a fried or high
48:11 fire hydrant that's actually in the road
48:14 not up on the curb
48:16 but Gene Roddenberry has some Family
48:18 Ties
48:20 over here
48:33 Henry Roddenberry
48:33 son of George Roddenberry
48:36 so this would have been Gene
48:38 roddenberry's father
48:40 wouldn't it be as great his grandfather
48:42 maybe his grandfather or
48:44 great-grandfather but we're assuming his
48:46 great grandfather
48:48 we're saying great grandfather based on
48:50 the age the age bracket I'm thinking
48:52 great grandfather based on the uh the
48:54 birth date of uh that's what I'm
48:56 thinking it's cold out here I'm gonna
48:58 end the video here we had a good time
49:01 show your shirt again appropriate
49:02 t-shirt
49:03 I have so you're right you have a really
49:06 appropriate t-shirt I have a cat in a
49:07 space suit it's about the closest I
49:09 thought I used to have the court Kirk
49:11 cork versus gern
49:14 cool
49:17 Kirk versus my lips are dumb Captain
49:20 cork versus the grin I did have a Kirk
49:23 versus Gorn shirt that I wore in my
49:25 episode that I did Vasquez Rock filming
49:27 locations of the chord episode
49:31 but now I just have a cat shirt and you
49:34 have the Enterprise but we did it yes
49:36 did it was that the most awesome thing
49:38 it was awesome ever seen they're awesome
49:40 there the neutral zone
49:42 and now I gotta watch the the new show
49:45 that they filmed there which they said
49:46 this week is it this week 10 years ago
49:48 they started filming they just started
49:50 saying yes the 10th anniversary of that
49:51 first episode it's cold
49:53 all right check out Greg's game room he
49:56 filmed some stuff
49:57 he brought his little miniature Spock
49:58 and
49:59 and Kirk figures and I'll see you in the
50:02 next video the Vlog
50:04 is
50:09 that was a good that's a good chapter
50:09 almost
