0:02 I don't
0:08 know. The
0:27 world. Welcome everyone. I'm in the
0:27 mountains of Vermont right now. I'm
0:29 going to be trouncing around this
0:31 beautiful countryside all day. These are
0:33 the locations from the 1988 Tim Burton
0:36 Classic. One of my favorites and
0:38 hopefully yours, too. Say it once, say
0:41 it twice, just don't say it three
0:45 times.
0:58 I don't know about you, but I am a huge
0:58 Tim Burton fan. Especially his early
1:00 stuff like PeeWee's Big Adventure,
1:01 Edward Scissor Hands, Beetlejuice. So,
1:04 you know, I must be really excited
1:05 because right there over those trees was
1:07 the very first shot right after the
1:09 Beetlejuice emblem comes up. There's a
1:12 helicopter shot that comes right over
1:14 those trees. If you look closely in the
1:16 movie, the helicopter comes over those
1:18 trees. First of all, they show a little
1:20 bit of the town the way it is in real
1:23 life before they cut to the model shot
1:25 with the spider. How do I know this is
1:27 the exact spot? Well, watch this. When
1:30 you watch the shot in the movie, you can
1:32 see the backside of this building right
1:33 here with the chimney and the backside
1:36 and then it flies over the town and look
1:39 over there. You see that steeple on that
1:41 church? You can also see that. So, right
1:43 here, ladies and gentlemen, is where the
1:45 helicopter shot was. The very first
1:47 shot. Beetle
2:02 juice. This whole area up here in
2:04 Vermont is so beautiful. In fact, they
2:07 make you really soak it in cuz I don't
2:09 have any cell phone reception here. I'm
2:11 already perfectly at
2:13 ease. It's perfect. This is the area
2:16 here where they would have had the
2:21 cemetery. This is where Beetlejuice
2:23 would have been laid to
2:30 rest. Of course, a lot of it was on a
2:30 sound stage, but in the town, this is
2:33 where the cemetery would have been. This
2:34 empty plot of land, probably fake
2:36 gravestones for the aerial shot when the
2:38 helicopter came over that hill. You can
2:42 see all this in the background there.
2:44 There it is. It's where the cemetery
2:46 was. You bunch of
2:49 losers. You're working with a
2:51 professional here.
2:54 When they were driving into town, they
2:55 would have drove right over this way.
2:56 Here's the library in the movie.
2:59 Nice building, bad roof, good parking.
3:08 There was a guy standing right here. He
3:08 said hello to them.
3:22 How you doing, Ernie? Oh, hell yeah. How
3:25 you doing?
3:30 That would have been the fire station in
3:30 the movie. And right there would have
3:31 been Matland Hardware. Definitely seen
3:33 better days.
3:52 Morning, Adam. You need a a haircut for
3:52 your vacation? Oh, thanks, Bill. How's
3:54 the model coming? Oh, it's great. You
3:55 know, you said Bossman built that
3:58 foundation in
4:00 1835. All right.
4:15 This right here is where Winona Ryder at
4:15 the end of the movie would have walked
4:16 out with her other school children. This
4:19 was Miss Shannon's school for
4:31 girls. That definitely has Tim Burton's
4:31 name written all over it. Definitely his
4:33 style.
4:53 We've come for your daughter, Chuck.
4:57 You can actually see that brick
4:58 embankment right there behind them when
5:00 they're talking about going to Jamaica.
5:02 Are you sure you wouldn't rather go to
5:04 Jamaica or some place like that? No way.
5:06 Right there in that exact spot with that
5:08 wall behind them there is where they get
5:10 surprised by the dog right before they
5:12 crash through the bridge. Hey, watch out
5:14 for that dog.
5:16 There's a dog right there. Don't hit it.
5:21 Here's where the dog was waddling into
5:23 the bridge. There was a sign right here
5:25 planted in the ground. And the way you
5:27 can tell this is the spot is this
5:28 telephone pole with this little wiry
5:31 thingy coming straight down at this
5:33 angle with that telephone
5:39 pole. Have you ever wanted to drive over
5:42 the Beetlejuice Bridge? Well, here's
5:43 your chance to live vicariously.
5:46 Hopefully there's no dogs running in
5:48 front of
5:58 us. This is where the dog would have
5:58 been perched. Right there on the piece
6:00 of
6:07 wood. And the way you can tell is the
6:07 library in the shot is right up here,
6:09 which is now blocked by these trees. But
6:12 if you just come around the edge here,
6:14 you'll be able to see the library. See
6:16 it there? Right there is the corner of
6:19 the edge of the
6:20 library. Those trees have grown up since
6:22 then, but this is the spot. So, right
6:25 there is where the car would have gone
6:26 off into the
6:35 ravine. It's kind of treacherous. It's a
6:35 little It's a little
6:37 steep going down here to the spot where
6:40 the car would have
6:46 fallen. Here we are under the bridge.
6:46 Kind of echoey. Just imagine the car
6:49 driving right up here above us. It would
6:52 have careened off there and fallen right
6:55 on these rocks. This whole area was
6:57 damned up on one end so that the water
7:00 was really high because this water is
7:02 always at this level. So, for the movie,
7:05 we needed the water to be
7:07 high. So, I'm standing right where the
7:09 water would have been. I'd be drowning.
7:11 That's where the car would have fallen
7:12 off. It would have teetered and tottered
7:15 and fell right there in the water with a
7:16 big splash.
7:30 I've seen The Exorcist about 167 times
7:33 and it keeps getting funnier every
7:36 single time I see it. Not to mention the
7:38 fact that you're talking to a dead guy.
7:40 Now, what do you think? You think I'm
7:43 qualified? You're probably wondering now
7:45 where the Deetsas lived and where their
7:46 house would have been. Judging by the
7:48 town being right there, this would be
7:51 the hill that the Diet's house was
7:57 on. This would have been the driveway.
7:59 You see there's still a little remnants
8:00 left of the driveway. Heading right up
8:02 there is where the fake facade of the
8:05 home would have
8:07 been. Let's travel up now. Take a look
8:10 what we have up here.
8:16 See all this in the background? The
8:18 house would have been right
8:20 here. This is it. Pretty crazy to think
8:23 that's where the house was right there.
8:25 A lot of the action happened all on the
8:27 porches out in front when they were
8:29 moving in. That whole deal. Still part
8:31 of the driveway left
8:40 here. The house would have been
8:48 Make sure you subscribe right up here.
8:50 And remember, if you do that, you want
8:54 me to eat? I swallow anything. You want
8:55 me to swallow? Come on down. I chew on a
8:58 dog.
