0:02 Welcome everyone. I'm at Walt Disney
0:02 World Resort. You know Walt Disney World
0:04 for a number of reasons. Whether it be
0:06 the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Animal
0:08 Kingdom, Disney's Hollywood Studios, or
0:11 the plethora of restaurants and resorts
0:14 that actually encompass the surrounding
0:16 areas. But I am here today to talk about
0:18 a little known fact that some people
0:21 might not be familiar with. Have you
0:22 ever heard of the group The Beatles?
0:25 Well, they actually called it quits.
0:28 Legally, officially ended their tenure
0:31 together right here at the Polynesian
0:34 Resort, which actually happens to be
0:37 directly in front of us. You want to
0:38 check it out? Of course you do. Join me.
0:41 Shall you?
0:50 The
1:09 world. In 1969, John Linen shouted to
1:09 the rest of the other Beatles, "I want a
1:10 divorce." Hence, starting the wheels in
1:13 motion for the demise and the ending of
1:15 the group, the Beatles. A lot of people
1:17 will say that the Beatles broke up in
1:19 1970, but due to lots of red tape and
1:23 legal mumbo jumbo, it actually
1:25 officially did not pinpoint the breakup
1:29 until December 29th,
1:32 1974, right
1:34 here at the Polynesian
1:42 Resort. Just 10 days before the
1:42 paperwork was signed, George Harrison
1:43 and Paul McCartney were waiting
1:45 patiently with the Apple lawyers at the
1:47 Plaza Hotel in New York City. Ringo had
1:50 already signed off on the paperwork and
1:52 they were waiting for John to arrive,
1:54 which was very interesting because John
1:56 Linen actually lived within walking
1:58 distance of the Plaza Hotel. As they
2:00 waited, their impatience started to grow
2:02 and they started to realize John was not
2:05 showing up. And the reason for that is
2:07 because I pulled a fast one and actually
2:09 was vacationing here, not with Yokoono,
2:13 but with a
2:14 secretary
2:16 lover. You sly
2:20 dog. A very disgruntled Paul and George
2:23 scribbled their names on the bottom of
2:25 the final contract ending the Beatles,
2:27 and the lawyer went on a mission to find
2:29 John Linen. 10 days later, he arrived
2:32 here. And what room was John Linen
2:35 staying in? There is a lot of
2:36 discrepancy. There is a lot of
2:38 controversy on what room it is. But due
2:41 to some Columbo-like research of my own,
2:44 I think I have actually found the exact
2:46 spot where the Beatles ended. Oh yes.
2:56 Years later in her memoirs, May Pang,
2:56 who was the woman in question that was
2:57 here with John Linen, actually wrote a
3:00 very descriptive account of her time
3:01 spent at Walt Disney World and the
3:04 Polynesian Resort. And as best as we can
3:07 decide, they were actually staying at
3:09 the
3:11 Samoa long house, one of the original
3:13 eight long houses here at the Pali. And
3:16 the room was right there on the very
3:19 corner, the very bottom corner facing
3:23 the pool, facing Walt Disney World's
3:26 Magic
3:46 Kingdom. Now, a lot has changed since
3:46 1974. The pool has been redone. The
3:49 walkways and the foliage have all
3:52 changed in these decades later. But
3:54 there is actually a photo of John Linen
3:57 hanging out right here in front of the
4:02 wouldbe room, which is now
4:05 numbered
4:07 16001, the bottom floor facing the pool.
4:17 As the story goes, when he got the
4:18 paperwork, he told May Pang, "Grab your
4:20 camera." Because he wanted this event to
4:23 be documented. And then as he sat there
4:27 with the contract in hand and pen in
4:29 hand, he looked over the Seven Seas
4:33 Lagoon over the pool area directly
4:36 towards the Magic Kingdom straight
4:38 ahead.
4:51 signed. Thanks for watching everyone.
